Season 1
- Simple story
- Simple decisions
- Despite this, one of the strongest seasons. Simple story rich with lessons and heart wrenching moments. Solidifies the Walking Dead as a story game. Ending is incredible.
- 9/10
Season 2
- A little more complicated story, begins to test the players ability to make hard decisions in the moment.
- Characters are developed very well. Each and every character is fleshed out with positive traits as well as very deep negative ones. Kenny is a good example.
- Ending is brutal, great example of how much harder the choices are getting.
- 8/10
Season 3
- The weakest season by far. Characters are less intriguing. Very good in the beginning, but quickly falls off near the end.
- Suffers from TV syndrome.
- Tries to replicate the hard choices of season 2, but falls very short.
- Sacrifices pacing for shock value "plot points."
- Main Character isn't consistent. I understand that it's the player choosing the dialogue options, but the character itself doesn't have any kind of constant architecture like Lee and Clementine both had. Javi is essentially just a puppet spitting the players dialogue options.
- Despite this, it was fun. Enjoyable, at the very least.
- 6/10.
Season 4
- Writing this review just after finishing season 4. Wow.
- Mostly interesting characters.
- Realistic character flaws.
- Graphics are perfect.
- Feels like a movie, the cinematics are so good.
- Does shock value right, doesn't feel like a cheap reaction grabber.
- Just as I thought each episode couldn't get any better, it did. Twist Villain is a returning character, and it's done correctly. Her descent into her villainism is done right. It genuinely feels like the seed was planted in Season 1, and the Season 4 result is what came of that .
- There are true consequences to choices, and each and every single plot-point feels cohesive in the general story.
- Feels like the story of season 1, but more fleshed out and created by more experienced story tellers.
- Probably a contender for the best season.
- 9/10.
Total
- Overall, the game is incredible. It offers an amazing story, and made me stare at my computer screen for at least a couple minutes, both in complete shock and awe. Beautiful game, I was fortunate enough to be able to go into it mostly blind, and wish I could do it again. The game makes you feel things, yes even season 3.
- Worth it in every single field, just buy it. You'll never regret it.
