This game is large wet in the pants. If you have a fightstick play it on that, its a friggin blast. Works with HORI RAP N on Arch/Hyprland with 0 issues. 9.5/10. Does what it says on the tin really well.

On the surface, this is a fun, simple arcade game with some epic retro graphics. But the more you look, there's a super amount of depth here. Lots of gameplay, loads of theme, lots of... gaming history? Also, no better intro sequence out there!

Tons of fun, cool retro graphics, great shooting gameplay, good sound effects. My only problem is that the game is way easier using "hermit mode" (i.e. no missiles, guns only). I wish missiles were more plentiful, would make the game a lot more fun and less brutal.

Like a lot of similar games, Utopia Must Fall is a defence/damage race. You will likely get the 7 hours entertainment out of what the dev has created so far but after about 7 hours some cracks start to show that I'm confident the dev is well aware of. The skill tree is opened by getting upgrades on each round (a day). Upgrades are triggered by your ability to wipe up a complete wave before it either hits the deck, escapes or forms on the battlefield. The problem here is that days have some randomness to them and it's quite easy for your attempt to wipe out a wave to be scuppered by the wave going off screen or being blocked by another wave. To progress you really need to be picking up 2 upgrades per day and sometimes this just not possible and can be a little unfair on the player. My other criticism would be that you rarely feel overpowered in this game which sucks some of the fun out of it. It is a very tense race - unlike the race in Brotato which feels fun even if it is going badly. This is also a race to try to build the exact same build every time - there doesn't seem much value in experimenting. Audio and Visual design are exemplary. Much to like and the devs have got a solid base in which to find more fun. Great value for what it is right now.

Pretty fun game overall. Controls feel good, visuals are great AND can be changed to your liking, mechanics are done very well, I like the different paths you can go down when upgrading, enemies are varied, text is humorous. Great stuff. My only real complaint is that after a while every build will eventually boil down to one. You will eventually get every upgrade you can unlock if a run goes on too long, and the different builds don't feel as varied as I would like. Other than that, great game overall. Fun to play every once in a while.

great vibe with amazing vector graphics, sublime sound effects and soundtracks. I want to say the gameplay is challenging (my highscore is 3 weeks + a few days), the latest update brought the drones which I learnt to not configure RANGE to FAR otherwise they die immediately by colliding with enemies XD I like the bits of writing in the upgrades, consulting the general hmmm...

Lovely game, like Galaga & Missile Command, but more dynamic, pure arcade action. Great modern retro minimalism aesthetic. Lots of upgrades. And all this for ridiculously low price. Instant buy.

I love this game. It is a nice mix of strategic gameplay and just shooting random stuff. While the way you upgrade will dictate how you often play the game it is also very easy to just decide to level up one path and start launching nukes at every problem every round, and call it a day. All in all its a very fun game with a lot of different ways to play that make for a very enjoyable experience.

Yet another masterwork by Pixeljam. I'm not much into action games, but I love my arcade classics—the same way I love my pinball. This is Missile Command meets Asteroids for the 21st century. In the same vein as Nova Drift, it's pure neo-retro delight. Hard to believe it's still in Early Access.

A really fun game that combines Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command and others. Lots of fun for the 1st 3 weeks, then they start dropping indestructible bombs. Then I just walk away... But lots of fun until then.

Great time-sink with an entrancing artstyle and just incredible attention to those little details that really bring a game's presentation to life — the sound design, the writing, the fact that the diagnostic-themed startup screen is actually testing and calibrating framerate settings for your system — it's wonderful. As of writing, the game costs $7 at full price, and is slated to receive significantly more content over time, with each major update bumping the price up by $1, and I can say it's well worth the cost now, especially when this is only a small portion of what the fully-fledged game will end up being.

Utopia Must Fall is about playing Sabotage, Missile Command, Asteroids, and Galaxian simultaneously to protect Earth's last city and its vapid inhabitants from the entire rest of the cosmos and at least one parallel dimension. It's a blast. Visuals are on point, controls are good, and the game is in active development. The latest update, the Industrial Update, is a clear improvement to a game I already like. I have high hopes for the future of this title.

Very fun arcade game, basically missile command with a lot more features, very pretty graphics despite the simplicity

Surprisingly, a lot of fun. Somewhat like a cross between Space Invaders, Asteroids and Space Command but with a tech tree that you work up in order to attempt to stay one step ahead of the alien invaders who's difficulty ramps up quickly. For the price, I would say it is great value for money.

its very much like an old arcade game with a modern graphic twist. I like the vibe of the game, and the gameplay is entrancing. I recommend the game. Especially since its cheap to buy.

I love the music and sound design for this game; think of a Vectrex/Vector-styled Missile Command (1980) combined with DEFCON (1996) with analog synthesizer pastiche. The skill-tree gameplay and aesthetic are fantastic. They made their own game engine to do it called v99 Vector Entertainment System, which is great because I've never seen that much detail in replicating the Vectrex CRT rendering.

Fantastic game! The star of the show is the aesthetic, but there are a lot of small details that add up to a very fun game. Discovering new enemies and figuring out what their attack patterns do is very fun, and the new skill tree system is very engaging.

This has the retro aesthetic and gameplay of old arcade classics like Missile Command and Space Invaders, with some modern innovations. I think it's great at what it's trying to be.

I am so tired of game devs insisting on tinkering with a perfectly cromulent game to take out the things that make it actually enjoyable.

There is a distinct difficulty wall at the 2 week mark. It doesn't matter how many nukes you make, whether your arc shield is ready to go, or whether you have the berserk initiative. It will end your run 90% of the time. I haven't made it to day 17. No hint how to improve. I'm done.
