When I first launched Planet Coaster 2, I was excited — not in the way you get excited for a new relationship, but the kind of excited you feel when your favourite takeaway place changes its logo and you wonder if the food still tastes the same.
The new path system is... technically better, but also manages to be worse. Like a more advanced robot vacuum that somehow still gets stuck under the same chair. Trying to connect paths feels like a spiritual test. The camera, when you try to help, sometimes panics and flings itself (and you) into the sky like it just saw a ghost. It’s very cinematic, but not very helpful.
Building coasters is still the best part — the joyful core of the game. But the prestige system now flickers like a faulty neon sign. One moment, your ride is a masterpiece. Five minutes later, it's a disgrace. Your guests seem confused. Are they boycotting the coaster? Is this a protest? Did I accidentally build an anti-rollercoaster?
There are new scenery items. But most of the game feels like someone took Planet Coaster 1, added some pool floats and lifeguards, and called it a sequel. It’s more of an expansion pack in a fake moustache.
Speaking of pools — the big new feature — they’re absurdly powerful. One pool, any pool, turns your park into a money-printing machine. Add a water slide and your guests achieve pure bliss. It’s like discovering that all your financial problems can be solved by buying a paddling pool.
Terrain editing near water has been downgraded, too. Now you have to remove the water before touching the land. It’s like needing to drink the whole cup before adding more sugar. Why? We had this figured out already.
Then there’s staff management, which has somehow become the most tedious part of a theme park game. I tried to embrace it — I really did. But it feels like doing shift rotas for a restaurant where nobody ever gets fired, and business is always booming. You can just hire a small army and let them roam freely. It’s fine. The game doesn’t mind. It doesn’t punish you for it. It doesn’t reward you either.
Power and water systems are a similar story: introduced with a shrug, handled with two clicks, and hidden underground so nobody has to think about them again. A feature that feels like it was added just to be turned off.
The campaign maps are stunning — so well-made that it feels rude to interfere. You enter a perfect little world the devs clearly poured love into, and then ruin it by placing a pre-built hotdog stand next to a koi pond.
And that’s kind of the problem.
Planet Coaster 2 feels unsure of what it wants to be. As a creative sandbox, it’s brilliant. Bugs aside, the tools are there to make something beautiful. But if you want a game — with challenges, stakes, or any kind of tension — it’s lacking. The economy is easily broken, the systems are easy to ignore, and the challenge is mostly administrative.
Graphically? It looks about 90% the same. The music still bangs though.
If you loved Planet Coaster 1, you’ll enjoy this — but only after the first few updates and a decent sale. It’s less a reinvention, more a mildly chaotic family reunion with some new cousins and an inflatable pool.

Dear Frontier,
I love your games and have played many of them for thousands of hours. I had heard about the issues that plagued Planet Coaster 2 upon launch, these things happen a lot these days, so I waited. I purchased during steam sale and was excited to play what should be a playable game. I can not continue to play this game in it's current state. My primary issue is the staffing zones, schedules, assignments etc... As is the staffing zones and such are completely frustrating to use, overly detailed without much value to gameplay, partially broken (such as the lifeguards or elevation issues) and requires too many screens to navigate in order to utilize properly. I have spent most of my current game time trying to figure out how to use the system only to find it lacking and broken. The weird thing is that this system not only works but is very intuitive in Planet Zoo, why did you not just use that system instead of building an overly complicated broken system. I have looked to see if it is in your plans to address these issues at all, if have not seen anything to suggest you plan on fixing this issue. If you do not plan on fixing this please communicate this to your players so that future gamers like me won't waste your time and money and buying and then refunding your broken game. I hope you address these issues so that I can continue to enjoy the games you produce.

After 7 months, it feels like this game is only just getting ready to come out of early access. The management and economy features are still really bad, but everything else is playable.

After a series of updates from the devs, this is finally starting to shine. It improves on Planet Coaster in almost every way. The scenery is still a little sparse, but with continued updates, this is going to be the GOAT.

All you need to know is I grew up on Chris Sawyers Rollercoaster Tycoon series and would have loved to have had this game when I was a kid but as an adult with hundreds of hours in PC1 I can not possibly recommend this game at full price to literally anyone. This game is 100% in early access but the publishers of this game make no effort to just tell you that. If frontier had marketed this game as an early access title their reputation wouldnt be in the gutter right now. Regardless of Frontiers bad decisions this game does do somethings right like the new pathing system is phenomenal, but the game is littered with issues that you are only paying for a good pathing system.
Down below I will list every bad thing I can possibly think of about this game
I will leave footnotes for further elaboration
I will also edit and add to this review as a find more wrong with the game because I will find more wrong

Theres no Steam workshop
The UI is straight up awful
Making buildings somehow got worse*
It does crash often
Capped asset and park population limits*
Pools suck*
Massively lacking in content
The AI is horrible*
Water physics are terrible

Buildings: The grid system used for buildings is basically an upgraded version of the one from PC1 but it has some borderline experience ruining bugs that make PC1 look like the superior product.
The most annoying one of all time is you cant have your camera far away from something while youre building it or the mouse cursor will just automatically raise the height of your path, wall, roof, or whatever piece youre trying to build with making it to where you have to meticulously get super close to whatever youre building while youre doing it. Horrible experience and PC1 feels way more seamless.
Capped Assets: This is something that either frontier or the developers of the game did clearly to cater to people trying to play a game meant for computers on their xbox. Its also the primary reason the UI is clunky dogshite. This is a computer game that belongs on the computer I get you can make more money by being multi platform and im all for that but you must remember that it is a COMPUTER game.
Pools: Jesus christ this shit was nowhere near finished on release and its supposedly gotten better?
Making a custom pool is pretty much out of the question if you make the mistake of buying this game do me a favor and place a preset pool down and try to make one yourself that looks like it. It is actually impossible mostly due to the edit tool being just straight up bad. You get four levels of pool being shallow, wading, swimming, and diving good luck making a pool seamlessly transition from shallow to swimming like how pools are in real life its always gonna look like someone made a minecraft pool but the pools made by the developers are perfectly sloped and ramped seamlessly to the bottom. Also the flumes just suck and lazy rivers straight up dont work
Bad AI: The new AI that they use for this game is terrible they love to cluster up in one spot just not even utilizing the big nice plaza that you can build with the only good thing about this game (pathing). None of the behavior that the AI exhibits even looks remotely human Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 AI quite literally has more soul to it and that game is 21 years old
I would like to add that it should speak volumes about the quality of this game when I say that I have to force myself to try to like this game and force myself to play it to feel like I got what i paid for but I have hundreds of hours on PC1 and it never crossed my mind that I have to get my moneys worth out of the game like a 1989 Honda Accord on its last leg. In my opinion Frontier should reimburse me and pay me a small salary of 20k a year to playtest their EARLY ACCESS game because undoubtedly my opinion is worth more salt than the average Planet Coaster console player

Planet Coaster 2 is a fantastic evolution of the original game, offering even more creative freedom, detailed park management tools, and beautifully designed rides and scenery. The improvements in ride customization and guest behavior really make the experience feel more immersive and alive. Building and managing your own theme park is as rewarding as ever, with endless possibilities to design parks exactly how you imagine them.
One small downside I’ve encountered is that I have to lower the graphics quality so the game doesn’t crash on my computer. That said, I know this is more of a limitation on my end than a problem with the game itself. When it runs smoothly, the visuals are stunning and full of life.
Overall, Planet Coaster 2 is a well-crafted and enjoyable simulation game that fans of the genre will love. Just make sure your system is ready to handle all the detail it has to offer!

As much as I like the new content in this game, I cannot recommend this game in it's current state.
Why? Bugs. Lots of them. I could forgive some of these, if it didn't hamper gameplay so much. For example, guests constantly complain about litter/sick, even when there is none in the park. This in turn tanks your park rating, which in a lot of the career maps you need to get high rating to complete them. After playing a map for hours, just to be unable to finish it due to a bug is very frustrating.
Another random bug is water slides/flumes constantly bug out so that guests "land on a hard surface" and leave your park getting a refund. Happens even if your slide ends in diving depth water and absolutely nothing around.
Ingame browser for community made blueprints/parks sounds great in theory, however search options are woefully bad. Searching for multiple tags returns anything that matches any of them instead of narrowing your search. Cannot search for words.
Lots of creative ideas in this game, great management additions and tons of interesting content in this game and could be great, however these bugs are just the tip of the bug iceberg and I cannot bring myself to play any longer until/if they are fixed. Latest patch claimed to fix the litter/sick issue... it is not fixed.

Firstly, I've only played this game now 3 days, so these are just some of my observations vs the original game I've found so far. I've been waiting to buy PC2 since it was announced and so far, at least, I'm not disappointed.
It's got a tiny bit of learning curve with the new features, but overall still in line with the original with regards to key bindings and functionality of the game (i.e. Z to rotate, M to move, etc, Mouse buttons/wheel to drag, zoom..) and tool folder options. I found starting in the Career section, was pretty helpful and would recommend it at least to get you started with learning the new additions to the game, especially if you're eager (like me) to just go to sandbox and get to creating your park and learning as you go. I learn/retain better when I take it pieces, so I started with the first two career tutorials to learn about the new additions the are helpful to start a park. Once I get the basics down, then I plan to go back to learn the rest. The new electricity addition, has been interesting to work with, but I'm sure it'll be easier to understand/use over time. The folders with the different options (Scenery, Rides, etc.) are pretty well organized using the sorting buttons, but it took me some time to find the correct folder for some things I was to being in from the other game. Also blueprints are found in folders you wouldn't think they'd be in. I assume this is due to the tagging options from the creator and the game sorting system itself. The water park feature looks like a nice fun new challenge. I plan to play with it once I get the basics down and start expanding.
I haven't been in the workshops much yet, but I have found some blueprints to get me going. Seems limited but I admit I haven't really spent a lot of time there. I like the option to start a game in sandbox with different game modes. For example, the easy building option will allow you to focus on building without worrying about managing the park, if you choose to. Other building options offer different levels of difficulty as well.
The graphics in this game are a nice improvement over the original game. I like that more choices were added for decorating your park as well. Also, you can merge buildings together to make a combo building (like a bathroom connected to a drink stall). I really like the walking path laying choice to place trash cans with your desired spacing and even an alternating side choice, which saves so much time. The option to change your path colors (and railing) easily is a nice addition.
Honestly, the only thing negative I have about the game so far is the camera, but I'm sill figuring that out so it may be fixable. I had a hard time with the vanilla camera in the last game as well and used a mod to improve its function. So unfortunately there isn't much improvement in this game in my opinion, but again I'm still learning it. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the game so far and can't wait to see what I can create with the new game additions!

immensely buggy game and it's been out a long time now. You have no way to pick up staff. I had a janitor stuck at the entrance of a bathroom nobody would use. Just infinitely walking and never reaching it's destination. I couldn't pick it up to move it. Nobody else would come to clean it while it was there walking endlessly. I fired it, it just kept walking looking more and more tired as time passed. Super easy fix, let me pick up the staff and move them...
The pool tool is retarded AF. Leaves jagged edges inside the pool. You can't make a nice kidney shaped pool. All the blueprints that the devs made are all one depth because even they can't use that stupid tool. It needs rebuilt from the ground up with a place and drag method like terraforming on most city builders. The adobe style drawing tool leaves clunky jagged edges ugly ass pools. WTF Devs...
The power generators and coasters are constantly needing repairs and certificates. Like seriously, within 5 minutes it's badgering me for certification. A. Why is this not automatic? B. Why is it so dysfunctional. I could see this happening once per game. Not every 5 minutes. And I added more generators and it just resulted in more headache. What a crappy game. I don't understand how this one is so much worse than the first. Total cash grab.
To top it off it just crashes for no reason.
Very irritating experience. I do not recommend this.

Its better than PC1 in every single way. Haven't had any major bugs, crashes or performance issues in 30 hours of gameplay.
So far I only have a handful of issues with the new mechanics:
- Pool building tools could be better
- Staff management zones are clunky
- Power/Water management is clunky at large park sizes
Everything else is great and a major improvement over the previous game.

It is still VERY broken. I am actually not certain how some players have been able to play at all.
Example 1: Ride prices don't make sense. The pre-made flat teacup ride is $4 per person, the pre-made flat cube ride is $34 per person, my custom made roller-coaster that has fantastic testing scores gave me a warning that guests wouldn't even pay $3 for a ticket. I then got a notification that guests think.... the $34 ride... is too cheap....
Example 2: Guests get stuck in the queues and stand there forever getting sunburnt and refuse to enter the ride. You have to click "test" and then immediately reopen the ride and then deal with the negative numbers from refunds but it doesn't matter because it happens every single time.
Example 3: Guests get stuck on the ride and refuse to exit the ride at all. This also requires a reset with "testing" but causes refunds and guests get stuck every time.
Example 4: Sometimes, and for no reason at all, the undo button and delete function via stamp just stops working entirely.
After experiencing those four things, I gave up lol. I don't even want to know how much worse it gets.

The game looks great and is visually very fun, but it's somehow even clunkier than Planet Coaster 1.
It's also very confused about what kind of game it's trying to be.
It has a surprising amount of management and gameplay features, but they are so braindead, simple and tacked on that they either don't matter at all to the point where they are unironically optional and not something you even need to mess with at all, or so minuscule that the effect you get from engaging with it is effectively meaningless.
The fact that you have to OPT INTO having management features at all in scenario and sandbox play AND CAN TURN THEM OFF WHENEVER AT WILL should tell you how afraid they are of giving the player even the slightest bit of pushback in gameplay, which is utterly psychotic since the creative tools are obscenely complicated and awkward to use.
Like who the hell is this game even made for at this point lol

Frontier has added so many things to this game at this point that, on paper, it should be the perfect theme park sim. The things you can do in PC2 like the actual working custom restaurants and souvenir shops, animating custom scenery, the graphics it's all incredible. However, I can't shake the feeling that we got ripped off. I paid full price for the game solely for item scaling (resizing) and at launch the game was absolutely dismal.
Since then, Frontier has been sticking to their update road map for adding new content and it feels like the biggest slap in the face I have ever received from a publisher. Planet Coaster 2 launched with next to no scenery options compared to it's predecessor, and their solution has been to drip feed all of the assets back to us that we already have in Planet Coaster 1. My issue with Planet Coaster 2 is that it feels like it should have been a $25 DLC or update to Planet Coaster. What it feels like to me is me spending $50 to play Planet Coaster with better graphics and three new scenery themes. It feels like Frontier left Planet Coaster with issues, namely the pathing system, so that they could fix it and sell the same game back to you. I still play it, I still enjoy it, but I just feel completely disrespected and taken advantage of as a fan of the franchise. If you choose to buy it, get it on a good sale. I would urge anyone not to support Frontier in the way that they've handled this sequel.

As an OG planet coaster enthusiast I was so hyped to see this game get a brand new release with completely new mechanics when it comes to park building. On the surface I do fully believe that this game does take several steps forward in terms of game mechanics and presentation. I especially loved the new path building system that was a dream come true with this game.
Unfortunately I cannot in good faith recommend this game for returning players and even some new ones. The core of the original game that had so many various themes and exceptional selection of presets to play with is just gone in this game. I have no idea why they just didn't convert the vast majority of the assets in the first game into the new one, it would have been a much better release than stripping everything away. The new assets and presets and themes lack so much personality and creativity that I wanted to go back to the first planet coaster game just to get some semblance of joy in making parks again. I really hope that this game may be developed further and the developers are able to create and expand on new and existing themes more so that the joy and personality may come back to this game.
If any developers are reading this please add the spooky and haunted themes back into the game I really miss those.

Stayed with playing PC 1 after seeing many reviews on how the game felt it was not ready yet at launch. After a series of updates from the devs, the game is a ton of fun. It for sure improves on Planet Coaster 1 with pathing and game engine, however, I do miss steam workshop content. Frontier work shop is acceptable, though you have to make a frontier account to do so. The scenery is still a little sparse, but with continued updates, this game is in a decent state, i enjoy playing this in my free time. I'm glad they finally added pirate them, thats what I mostly missed.

As a player that exclusively cares about playing this game in sandbox mode, I finally feel like there's enough scenery, customization and ride options to recommend this game. All the themes from the first games are now included in this one, as well as much needed additions like better pathing tools, resizeable props, restaurants, etc...
There's still some things that I miss from the first game, such as the map size which is much smaller now than it used to be in planet coaster 1.
Overall, for a player like me that's not going to use the management mode / economy side of the game, it has reached a point where I can say it's definitely worth buying.

Loving it so far.
I love the addition of being able to make a water park, I've always loved water parks. The real beauty is if you don't want water park elements, you don't have to add them, benefits are great to have.
Graphics are fine, game play seems fine. I have a slightly older system and the game does heat up my processor a bit, but I do have only a stock cooler, this is one of the few games I've played that is doing this as of late.
Recommended game.

Highly recommend to anyone who enjoyed RCT3 or Planet Coaster. It improves upon everything that the first game lacked. The graphics and attention to detail in particular are much better in this game. The waterparks, which is the highlight of this game, are really well crafted and function well. It’s what you would expect in an updated version of RCT3 soaked. This game is well optimized as well and has no technical issues.

This game is finally enjoyable and feels like a well rounded base game with sufficient content to keep me occupied within at least build mode. Actually running the park as a sim is a whole different story with staff, guests and management bugged, unwieldy, or near useless as to make one lose interest in playing. If you are going to buy it be sure to familiarise yourself with Steam's refund policy - try before you buy!

I mostly like to use this as a coaster building tool. There are definitely some improvements over the first game especial concerning coaster smoothness and the smoothing tool. There's also still a lot of issues that are frustrating and I don't think I will continue with the game. One of my biggest issues so far is the coaster track limits. I'm running into many "exceeds limits" issues even with extended track limits turned on. This is for basic elements that exist in real life especially once you start to get to vertical track. I have been unable to do a basic tophat that turns in the vertical 90 degrees which is a very common coaster element. I also ran into problems smoothing a basic vertical loop. I find these issue unacceptable in a coaster building game and the coast limit toggle needs to be more useful, I'm honestly not sure what it even does if I'm still running into so many track limit issues. I'm also disappointed in the one switch track we get for the one coaster type. We need highspeed switch tracks and a switch track that doesn't require the train to stop. There's also weird restrictions on coaster types such as whether they can invert or not when they really should be able to or with extended track limits we should be able to. We should have more utility pieces available on more types of coasters, not just limited to special types. These are just artificial restrictions placed on our creativity with the designs. There's many features of the game I haven't even gotten to yet because the coaster builder is honestly frustrating which is one of the main focuses of the game.

As a fan of planet coaster 1 and 400 hours in it i bought Planet coaster 2 at full price on launch. This game was not at all worth the 70 dollars it came with bugs, missing features and missing themes. However, the game has surpassed the original with updates bringing back old themes and features. The ability to draw paths and theme flat rides and coaster trains has been a very big postive, the new themes are really cool and include lots of pieces and the water slides while not physics basesd are still a nice addition. I would take this game over the old one any day.
YES, it is worth to upgrade or get into planet coaster.
Full price- If your a big coaster fan
Sale- Yes, very worth it

Spent dozens of hours on a park only for the save to get corrupted. There is currently no fix according to support and possibly no way of getting my park back. Hours wasted all because this game fails to do what a massive sandbox game should be able to do. I recommend if you play this game to create backups of each save. As annoying as that sounds its better then losing your park forever.

It's just....boring :( I was looking forward to playing this since I played the first one and it was alright. But honestly it's just not fun - way too much multitasking and micromanagement to do and not enough time to focus on just having a good time. Too much to worry about with all the little things you have to do, it just feels like work.

Stutters quite when moving the camera across the screen even when starting a new park and just moving the camera across the entrance area. Surprisingly low FPS on the first campaign mission so I though to myself that "the fps could only get worse". I thought that the game would run well seeing as it's DX12 but Planet Zoo runs better.

Planet Coaster 2 feels like an unfinished mess. The UI is so redesigned I couldn't even figure out what I was building half the time. Guests teleport, pathing breaks constantly, and essential facilities like pools and changing rooms are buried behind layers of nonsense. I loved Planet Coaster 1 this sequel lost that magic. It looks great but plays like a beta test. Disappointed.

Honestly horrible. Imagine stealing half of your "new" features from parkitect and somehow still break them. Games a buggy mess and half of the implemented systems are just excessive and overall make the game completely unfun.

Most of the game works fine but there is one unforgivable sin to this game, it keeps crashing when loading rides, & once it's crashed, it doesn't save progress, even after you save your game.
I was in sandbox making a roller coaster, very proud of it so I saved the game, then try to put in another ride, ride didn't load, game wouldn't let me deselect, tried to exit game, game didn't exit, game crash, I re-opened the game, went back to my save.. & my coaster was gone.
Your save function not working is a pretty big problem.
Also, it isn't the only time it's happened.

i love the game very very well. with came from PC1 and was excited for PC2 BUT it was even better if it had 1 mroe feature.... because we have multiple speakers with different options for music of effects and stuff i miss the feature where you can see (like a sort of heatmap) how far your sound travels from the point where the speaker is placed to a certain point so that multiple ereas don't have the bleeding effect of just to make amore precission in where to place and see how far it reaches.
overall a solid game for me and already addicted building parks.

The game is at a point where it's a joy to play. I'm REALLY enjoying the new path features now that I've been able to wrap my head around it. Despite the shaky launch, Frontier has really done a great job improving the game to bring it to where it currently is. I'm very excited for the future!
