Hot Line Miami but it's first person. Not as edgy and cool, sure. For instance the soundtrack is working closely with the game visuals (not sure everyone had gone that far integrating both in other games) so it's cool that way, but you're not going to put it in your playlist. Gameplay wise, it's...better than HOTLM which was cool but flawed. Anger Foot isn't really flawed. I mean you'll die from random physics to a point, but it's not really against the flow of the game anyway - which is hectic and chaotic. Mostly the character does what you want from him, including, yes, picking up the gun you want.
The humor in the writing is mostly great for 12 yo but at times it made me smile (I am older than 12). It's not grating and mostly skippable. The whole thing has a strong identity, maybe not the most charming but it's made well enough IMO.
All in all a game that is maybe not super impressive but knows what it is and does it well. I suppose some people would dislike that door frames are a key feature of gameplay but the game is self conscious about it with some enemies AI that will avoid falling for that, so clearly the dev are managing when you can create a killzone and when you can't. In general enemies are pretty good with very noticeably different AI for each of them - in fact come to think of it I can't remember when I've seen a game doing as well on that front. Boss fights... I don't like boss fights in games but those are better than most.
The game let you choose if you want to do some extra goals, which is how difficulty is managed as those can be spicy to accomplish - although they're often interesting. Reward for them help you buy more goodies, which by and large aren't powerful but make for some fun extra gameplay (I liked the clown shoes. What can I say, children at hearth). You also don't need to do all of them to unlock everything so you can do the ones that look cool without bothering with the ones that are a bit more tedious/work.
The only real issue I have with the game are performances which can drop quite a lot when a lot of physic is involved. This could certainly have been better optimised. Can't say it was a big issue though, most of the time frame rate is solid (and it better be, it's not a very detailed rendering anyway)
If you like that kind of game I don't think you need to wait for a promo, it's good enough to be picked at its price.
