I'm split half and half on the ending. I liked it but also didn't but also did. Regardless Danganronpa is a very enjoyable series, this game included.

Plot might be mixed for some but I enjoyed a lot. It perfected the Gameplay of franchise in every way, the phrases dance and mimick their meaning and its very fun, you can also LIE your way out and get extra dialog, I love it. music is great as always. cast on a par with the second game. PLAY THE DEMO even if you already intent to pay the full game, it's probably the best demo I've seen yet lol Kaito Momota my beloved

V3 is the most charmingly horrible of the series, imo. although the ending didn't land for me--
it felt kinda dumb and strangely cliche, even for danganronpa.
can't tell if i like this or SDR2 more. would recommend.

Wow what a crazy experience. I can't really put it properly into words but that was one heck of a rollercoaster. Do yourself a favour and give Dangaronpa V3 a shot. Also, I heard some bad things about this game's ending before I played so I'd like to reassure any people who have heard similar that imo the ending was amazing. 10/10 game.

Good and enjoyable game when there's not an annoying fuck screaming at your ear about how bad it is or how bad the ending is.

Ending was really good imo, just didn't bring that satisfying feeling the other 2 had. Way too open ended, needed a manga or anime special to answer all of the remaining questions. Explaining the big reveal as just being an alternate universe shows that the writers cant commit, either go all in or explicitly state that the mastermind mislead the group. Overall good game, would play the first two in order before this one though.

Currently the last game in the Danganronpa series (as far as I know), it returns to the aesthetics of Danganronpa 1 which makes it very interesting to return to a familiar setting, it expands the story more and we understand better everything that happens in the universe, I wish there were more games in the series (if you play until the end you will understand), but it is a little sad that there are so many possibilities and of the novels there are only these 3.

Not as good as the second game but still very good. Very good cast, mysteries, and trials.

I bought V3 years ago but never got around to playing it after originally beating 1 and 2 and played the first trial on my ps4 before stopping and never picking it up again. I recently wanted to replay the games I had played and also play this and Ultra Despair Girls while showing some friends the games and now after multiple months, I have completed them all and what a journey it's been! Anyway, onto my thoughts about the game. I think gameplay-wise of what you do in the trials this is by far the most fun to play. All the minigames, even the mining mind one which is the weaker one of the bundle, were fun and enjoyable to play. The music was one again a treat with a lot of good songs that became earworms for both my friends and I and we also enjoyed the characters in this installment a lot with only a few not really vibing with us for various reasons. It was also a visually interesting game to play with a lot of bright colors and movement between the minigames and the character sprites and the voice work for everyone was also very good. As for the most controversial part of this game that gets the most flak in the fandom... I actually liked the end. Without spoiling, I can see why a lot of people do not enjoy the ending as it fumbles in a lot of ways of what it was trying to do with it but by the end of the whole story I appreciated it a lot and enjoyed it. I don't regret playing this at all and would even say that this might be my favorite of the series and I enjoyed the journey playing these games again and for the first time.

MASTERPIECE! I don't know how to describe this in words, but I'll try: The best cast of the series with great characters and one of the best casts I've seen in a video game. Great gameplay, improving on everything from the previous games. Incredible soundtrack, incredible designs, and the overall story writing is incredible. (The optimization is a bit poor, but oh well.) Regarding the game's ending: SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At first, I didn't like it because those kinds of story endings usually end badly, as they throw away everything that was built up. But in the end, it turned out they wrote it in a spectacular way, making it seem good in the end, even if you don't like it. Spectacular. I love this series, and playing it was an experience that should be done at least once in your life. 10/10

this is my favourite danganronpa game out of the three, which is probably an unpopular opinion since people seem to have mixed opinions on v3. i feel like the game, the story and especially the game's ending become more enjoyable if you look at v3 as somewhat an alternate universe,
especially considering the fact tsumugi 'claims' that the entire story of danganronpa is simply fictional and that danganronpa fans created real killing games for entertainment.
what i mostly like about v3 is the characters and the trial mini games (i desperately wish thh and sdr2 also had scrum debate because it's so fun). for me, v3 has the most enjoyable characters and i especially like how realistic shuichi reacts to being forced in a killing game. only thing that was completely unnecessary for me were the monokubs, sometimes it felt like they were added for comedic relief but they were never funny and felt completely useless.
i was very happy every time one was killed off during an execution BUT THEN THEY ALL CAME BACK AT THE END.
Look, I’m a Danganronpa fan. A ride-or-die, despair-drenched, trial-screaming, hope-chugging mess of a human being. I’ve followed these kids through three games' worth of murder mysteries, breakdowns, plot twists, and bear-related trauma. I’ve laughed. I’ve cried. I’ve yelled, “YOU’RE LYING!” at my screen like it was a courtroom drama and not a visual novel about high schoolers getting systematically annihilated. And then came Danganronpa V3. What starts as a familiar ride—a new school, new students, new killing game—quickly unravels into something... bigger. Stranger. Crueler. Smarter. It's like the developers sat down and said, “Okay, how do we destroy every fan emotionally and make them thank us for it?” Spoiler alert: they succeeded. The cast is fantastic—chaotic, broken, lovable weirdos in the finest Danganronpa tradition. You’ll pick a favorite. You’ll get attached. And then you’ll suffer. Just like always. The writing is on-point, balancing absurd humor and gut-punch drama with terrifying precision. One minute you’re giggling at a pun, the next you’re in existential freefall wondering why you ever thought hope was real. The class trials are as over-the-top as ever, with new mechanics that range from fun to “please stop, I just want to think.” But even when things get messy, it’s part of the charm. The wild swings, the accusations, the “no, wait, THAT’S the contradiction!” moment—it’s still peak courtroom chaos. And the ending? Oh. The ending. No spoilers, obviously, but just know: it will rip out your heart, throw it into a meat grinder, and then debate you on whether or not it matters. It’s divisive, bold, maddening, and somehow perfect. I still think about it at least twice a week. Danganronpa V3 is a brilliant, brutal love letter to everything that came before it—and a mic drop so loud it shattered the fandom. It’s a masterpiece of meta-chaos, and I adored it even as it emotionally suplexed me. I know it said “goodbye,” but deep down, in my delusional little heart, I still believe. I still hope. Give me Danganronpa 4. Let me hurt again.

The ending feels very lazy compared to other games in the danganronpa franchise, so i am mixed between recommending this vs not. However the characters are personally my favorites from all the games, they are definitely more likeable and more on your nerves with annoyance

Bought this game because both the game and the steam store list this as a "female protagonist" SPOILER! it's a total lie. You start the game as a female protagonist, but after playing through the first trial, an event that sadly put my gameplay time past the two hour refund mark, the game kills off the player character, forcing you to spend the vast majority of the game as the bland male protagonist. I wouldn't have minded if the game was marketed as a male player character, but it wasn't. I would not have bought the game at all if I had known they would kill off the female protagonist, because they kill her off so quickly she isn't much of a protagonist at all. It's alright on its own, but I was falsely mislead into believing that I could play a protagonist that represents me, only to be forced otherwise at a point that seems designed for you not to be able to refund. I even requested a refund, as I felt that steam had falsely advertised the game as something it wasn't in a way that was intentionally deceitful. Only to be denied a refund because I had played mored than two hours, (which the tutorial alone took longer than), despite the fact that steams official policy says; "Requests are considered on a case by case basis and are not typically issued for purchases of released products that are more than 14 days old, or if the purchased product has more than 2 hours of playtime." NOT TYPICALLY, not that it's against policy to do so, but rather that its not typical to do so. Despite that I was denied a refund despite the purposely deceitful marketing. I don't normally bother to write reviews, but I want anyone else who is considering purchasing this game, especially for the same reasons as I did, to consider this carefully as steam won't offer a refund, despite the fact that it is falsely marketed as a "female protagonist."

Ruined the whole franchise. Chapters 2-5 are mid at best. Chapter 6 is a complete disaster. Kodaka might think Chapter 6 was clever but it felt like a giant middle finger to everyone who invested time to playing the series. He fails to understand what players want and does not respect his own work. Tyokoo Games is failing for a reason.

Okay lowkey i was scared to actually get V3, because of all the new features in trials, but they're actually not really hard at all. I loveeee the characters,
shuichi is a great protag and he's super realistic too! I honestly did NOT expect Kaede to only be around one chapter (not including the prologue), but she was cute when she was there. The new concepts are really cool with not knowing who the victim was in chapter 5 .
I honestly don't like the Monokubs, they're super yappy, but eh. Anyway this passes lots of time!!
