Overall rating: 9/10 (because perfection has no limits) Is it worth the money? Every last bit of my savings. Is it worth the time? Absolutely. A beautiful, short story — gently childlike, yet touching on deeply important themes. It’s the perfect formula, incredibly difficult to execute, but when games like this get it right, they become true masterpieces. Even the game itself hints at parallels with my favorite book — The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Both stories share a similar spirit and charm. Despite their brevity and sense of being "out of context," you still feel a deep connection — one that’s only strengthened by the meta elements of gameplay. Now, moving from the more objective side to the subjective. First of all — even though I don’t usually get attached to fictional characters easily, OneShot made me cry. Niko is one of the most adorable beings I’ve ever seen. I finally understand what people mean when they call characters their "children" (Niko is my son fr). And of course, the fact that there’s a good ending — that’s just perfect for me. It felt like I had made this game for myself and wiped my memory just to play it again. All I can say is this: after finishing the game, I will never be the same again. Absolute Indie GameDev

Legitimately don't know if this is better than the original. The actual desktop stuff in the original is cool but the extra collectables and stuff make this version enjoyable as well. Though I think the original is better for the first time, this is definitely a great version of the game and isn't bad at all if you play this instead of the original.
OneShot is one of the greatest games ever made. Please play the original first, if possible.
This reworked version of the game, World Machine Edition, is an excellent extension of what the original game had, with new supplemental and quality-of-life features, as well as console & Linux compatibility. HOWEVER, if you're going in blind (as you should), and playing on a Windows PC or Mac, then I STRONGLY recommend playing the original 2016 Steam release of OneShot instead/first. If you're a Steam deck or other Linux player, then this version is your only option, unfortunately. It's still the same fantastic story, but certain aspects may not hit quite as hard.

i think it's really cool how the game is like an OS and you play the actual game inside this fake OS. i like the wallpapers you can get and getting to know more about characters is again, really cool. also made me cry again 10/10

This was my introduction to this wonderful game and it a was really fantastic experience. You probably should play the original if your OS is well supported, but don't be afraid to jump into this version either because the devs have done great job. This game forced me to grapple with some difficult decisions, and made me feel like child shouting that I believe in fairies at Peter Pan show. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Definitely my favourite game of all time. The storybuilding is absolutely beautiful, and the game is truly a masterpiece beyond all masterpieces. An absolute masterpiece that I would give almost anything to play for the first time again. The character entries really help as an extra bit of lore and story, which for people like me, is great! I would recommend this game to literally anyone and everyone, and remember: the solstice grows nearer

The story is fantastic, it's puzzles aren't hard but i think that works in it's favor, it has really likeable characters and feels alive, Niko is defenitely the best character and feels like a living person that you could relate to, it's awesome, I highly recommend buying this and playing

Very Nice, spent many hours playing almost nonstop. It was very in-depth and just immersed me into the world. Deep lore. Worth the price and more.

I want to say if you are debating which version of OneShot to purchase, the World Machine Edition is definitely the best way to experience this game. OneShot was great to come back and play again and this version just feels a lot more intuitive while also adding neat collectables and decorative options. Please give OneShot a try!

Sigh. Oneshot may be one of my favorite games on steam. It may be a fun puzzle game, but at the end, you feel like you've known niko all your life. When i completed the first part [before solstice], i thought thats where it all ended, until i found out theres still more. When i finally completed solstice, 10 hours in 1 sitting, I saved niko, but at what cost? If your ever looking to dub a game for a video, this is the one for you.

OneShot remains peak. Easier to recommend over the 2016 retail release as things are self contained, and even better for streamers as it doesn't query the player's system account for a (potentially real) name to use in-game (like retail and the old freeware release does). There's also some niceties like the easier to read fast travel menu (which isn't just a list of area names!). It also doesn't break under Linux like retail does. :')

OneShot: World Machine Edition is a version of OneShot with spoilers, basically. Unfortunatelly, there is no way to the original oneshot puzzles work on a console, it is design to be played on pc, but i bought this version anyways. If you want to experience something amazing and unexpected, play the original version, if you already had the experience of oneshot and is a great fan of it, buy this version to see some outstanding artworks, codex of the characters, wallpapers, soundtracks from the game and more stuff. OneShot will always live in my heart, Niko will always be in my heart, and i give world machine edition a 8/10. It is a amazing game, delivers some extra info, but the fact that we play inside a computer instead of our own computer, kinda spoilers how this game is going to work.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS PLAY THIS MASTERPIECEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH But really, this game changed my perspective in all, i swear this game has all that undertale had but put more emotional and more original. Music was ok, characters were really well built, scenarios and areas all done to perfection. Heck, you even get a pc inside the game?! What's more not to love of OneShot. 11/10 Absolutely RECOMMENDED

A perfect game for people who already played the original "One Shot" and want to remind themselves the story. This edition of the game is basically like a custom computer inside your computer, with additional wallpapers, in-game characters info and stuff. It's really fun and it feels good to play. I really recommend this but only if you already played original One Shot, because I think that the original edition has a more powerful impact with it happening inside your own computer (sorta). Love it! 9.5/10

This is a story that you can only experience once, I was drawn to this game from the Indie Cross Episode 2, but the story and characters really kept me going. It's only 5-ish hours if you don't fall asleep while playing it, or have an idiot who forgets how to close games, (it's alt + f4 if you were wondering)

A nifty meta-narrative packaged so that all the meta elements work smoothly. The gameplay revolves around exploration and light creative puzzles. You only have one shot..?

Genuinely the best "game" I have ever played. The story of Niko is not one that comes and goes easily. This game leaves an impression on you to question your morality. Do you truly believe this broken world needs a new hope, even when nobody believes in you? Or do you save this lost, scared, innocent child given the burden of light and send them home to the mother they want to return to? This game's normal ending made me shed a tear, its impossible to decide between the two. And the way it breaks the fourth wall and how you and Niko together make it through everything, with Niko not being a vessel to tell the story through, but to be an actual integrated part of the games ultimate question: "Does a scared child deserve the burden to save the world, when you and that character bond so greatly at such a distance, even if it means you never get to see them again?" I see this game as more of an allegory rather than just a game. Every part of it intertwines with the core question, every action making the end more unbearable. This game genuinely broke me. And solstice fully changes it from a game, to a question of who you are.

I must be one of the few people who didn't really get into it. Maybe I've been spoiled by games like Undertale and Deltarune but it felt like none of the characters really got any characterisation past what was essentially an introduction. The art was cute, the puzzles were pretty easy, there's the whole OS thing the game does that didn't feel particularly engaging which is the only other system the game uses besides walking around and clicking on things with or without an item selected, so, no battle system or whatever else to distract from just walking around. Nothing to make you feel like you're really accomplishing anything, just easy puzzles with a surplus of hints. I finished the game while hoping the entire time that these adorable little cinnamon buns would get a few more lines of dialogue, but nah. Most of them only get a few minutes of dialogue each. I feel like the game could've done with less characters with the remaining guys getting more time on-screen. Of course, the game is currently at a 98% positive rating, so go ahead and take my review with as big of a grain of salt as you'd like. And to be clear, I didn't *dislike* the game, I just feel eh on it. Generally a little boring but with the occasional character or bit of dialogue that made me want to play more so I could see if they get characterised some more (they generally don't).
