This is hands down the best Digimon game out there! The story is captivating, and I'm still diving into multiple playthroughs just to explore the different endings. The battle system is well-designed, and the way you can recruit and Digi-evolve other Digimon adds so much depth to the experience. Don't let the visual novel-style gameplay intimidate you—it’s part of what makes this game so engaging. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the rich story or focus purely on battling, the choice is yours. Every decision you make has a real impact on your journey, so you’ll need to think carefully to keep the characters you love by your side. I do wish there was an option to make the game more combat-focused, as the dialogue-heavy sections can slow things down at times. But overall, the experience is incredibly rewarding, and I’d highly recommend it to any Digimon fan!

While the battles in Digimon Survive are enjoyable and provide a good pace, they are not particularly complex or deeply strategic. The combat is accessible and can be fun, but it lacks the depth that some tactical RPG fans might expect. On the narrative side, the story struggles due to a cast of characters whose negativity feels excessive and often unrealistic. This persistent negativity made it hard for me to emotionally engage with the plot or fully immerse myself in the story. Despite the enjoyable moments in combat, the narrative writing diminishes the overall impact of the game.

A different Digimon game, but fun nevertheless. Tactical, difficulty is very ok and good variety of Digimon available If you don't like graphic novels, you'll have to get used to several minutes of reading dialogue Story doesn't finish after the 1st playthrough

For the price point, this game is far more a Visual Novel, with a sprinkle of disappointing, clunky, tactical RPG. 8 hours in, and I feel like I've gotten nowhere. The battles I just automate and ignore. Perhaps this game style is no longer my preference. At least it's giving some of those nostalgia feels.

I be honest , this feel this game wear the skin of digimon ,aside for the items use to evol recrute digimons ref to old age media, nothing feel digimon .... and how there ge the name is as stupid ... And the fact the true ending is în NG with a specific way games tell you , that's stupid? And isnt first time I hear that. A NG should be a reward or easy way to go to repets faster with less grind. I like the story and man there a drastic change from my first route and true route I cant say is bad game but nether a good on stander, if onlu could have more bite to it. Maybe take it when on sale

I enjoy visual novels, and am okay at tactical RPGs. I really enjoy the tones this game has vs other Digimon games, and suggest it if you are a Digimon fan and a visual novel enjoyer. The combat is like, maybe 40% of the game, less if you're not going for 100%. Definitely suggest two playthroughs, as the first one might leave you a bit unsatisfied for spoiler reasons.

Good game. Only complaint is that I one-shot Fangmon with a level 29 Greymon, and yet the dialouge afterwards still pretended that said Greymon had little energy left and would have a hard time fighting again, despite attacking a total of twice, once on the boss, and once on a minion, during the entire fight. The ease of battle does not impact how characters act after battle.

I picked up Digimon Survive hoping for a mix of nostalgia and something new, and that’s exactly what I got… with some caveats. The atmosphere is incredible — moody, mysterious, and just a little grimy in that way that screams classic Digimon but with a more modern edge. The music does its job, though it doesn’t really stand out after a while. Character-wise, most of the cast definitely lean on familiar anime stereotypes, but to the game's credit, their arcs develop in surprisingly emotional and mature directions. Some genuinely caught me off guard. That said, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the branching path structure. One ending felt like it dragged or padded for time, and the way you unlock different outcomes can feel vague or weird as it doesn't really explain why that would lead me to this path. Gameplay-wise, don’t expect a deep tactical RPG. This is more of a visual novel with light turn-based battles, and honestly? There’s not a lot of Digimon variety. Fewer characters, fewer interactions — it’s more about depth than scale. I just wish we had more to do with the world. But what keeps this from being a forgettable side game is its dark, refreshing take on Digimon lore. When I say dark, I meant it hahaha, I rate it a 7/10, probably get it at a discount.

This is my first Digimon game, and the biggest thing you need to know is this: if you’re not into reading or visual novels, this probably isn’t for you. While it does have tactical gameplay—similar to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon—the majority of your time will be spent reading and making story choices. Personally, I love it. The psychological horror elements and darker, more mature storytelling really pulled me in. My favorite Digimon series is Tamers, and this feels like it channels a similar vibe: heavier themes, real consequences, and a deeper emotional tone. I actually own it on both Switch and PC—I picked it up super cheap during sales—but I prefer it on PC. The Switch version felt clunky and a bit sluggish for me. Also, choices really matter here. The story can change significantly based on your decisions, which makes replays even more interesting. If you want a more adult take on Digimon with real emotional weight, and you don’t mind a visual novel-heavy style, this is absolutely worth diving into.

This game was a total let down. I love visual novels and while I didn’t grow up watching Digimon, I do like it. So I was excited to see a game that combines the two while also adding a slight twist with the battle mechanics. The concept idea was the only good thing about this game, however. The majority of the cast of characters are unreasonably negative, naive, and one dimensional. I found myself getting mad at them for being wish-washy than following along with the story. The characters are described one way and act completely different and it just killed the story for me. There is also the fact you are locked into the worst ending on your first playthrough. You can not change it and that also killed any replay ability for me. This game is not worth any money you put towards it unless you like to suffer.

Mostly a horror VN, so if you're into that you'll like it. High quality art and voice acting. The tactics/creature collecting aspect is definitely the secondary gameplay, with it being maybe 20% of the game. It is fun, but the VN aspect is definitely the main draw, if you don't like VN's you won't like this game.
