What killed it for me was zero option for solo play.
Played two games and everyone rushed the objectives giving me zero chance to loot or even participate in the missions themselves.
I was having a little bit of fun looting and checking out the environments but i just felt so rushed by all the objectives being completed and everyone extracting.
The point of the game seemed to go in, get good loot, get a character geared up, and do it again. Your really just playing to play again with a better experience, which would be fine if i can just play by myself withought the objectives being rushed.

This game has LOTS of potential. All the foundation is there. The non scaling difficulty, poor zombie spawns and low fps absolutely ruins it. Its a very punishing experience overall.

The entire run, I was popping antibiotics (where's the vodka?) just to avoid turning, and I still managed to extract with low health and only a revolver. The game is intense — a pure, hardcore zombie experience. It still needs a lot of work, but if you have seven friends and want to test your friendships... this is the game to ruin them.
Verdict: 7/10 – Great game.

bought this game during the steam summer sale. regret purchase.
TLDR- Very Meh
I think some of the core reasons this game looks and feels awful boil down to combat, animations, immersion.

No more room in hell.. where do I start with this review?
The ad: infinite enemy response are not necessarily A bad thing if we're talking wave shooter horde mode... but with this game, that is not the case. I've literally been walking up to a gazebo so that I can crouch down underneath and reload my revolver while 2 seconds later, zombies are literally falling off of the top of the gazebo that were never there before.
Difficulty scaling is zero. You start the game at a level zero essentially and it still takes three to four well-placed headshots on your basic run of the mill zombie to put them down. What kind of sense does that make? It's almost as if the game devs started programming nightmare mode first and decided to push the game out in Early Access before creating any other scaled difficulty modes. It's truly insane.
Level design.
Most levels, while beautifully atmospheric, are nothing but sheds and garages with one door attached while the other has no door attached. Meaning you can't enter any of the houses at all. We were able to find a one bar in a specific level where part of the mission was to go in that bar and that's about it. Unless it is a mission-specific building or structure, you can't enter any buildings. No more room in hell 2 should be called, no more room in any house. Literally they're all boarded up. All windows boarded.
Stealth.
There is none. Essentially when you see a zombie he sees you. It doesn't matter if your crouched behind a vehicle, on top of the vehicle, up the hill.. it doesn't matter. They see you and that's about the end of it.
Permadeath.
Permadeath is just fine if that is the difficulty tier that you're going to play your game on. This game is permadeath regardless. This goes back to my issue with difficulty. Assumably you'll get better items as you level up your character but that's going to be a tall task considering the games zombies are on blitzkrieg mode and are bullet sponges that can tank 4 to 5 melee strikes or three to four headshots. you need to keep that stuff for higher difficulty levels if you so choose.
The good.
Nice enough looking graphics and the levels filled about as open world as they can.
Pretty good sound design I suppose... When the characters aren't glitched into repeating the same tired string of curses within seconds of each other.
Up to eight player co-op. While that does seem fun, it almost seems to be a necessity because of the difficulty.
I've already got my refund but, I can't help but see a missed opportunity with a game that has fairly good atmosphere.
At this point I can't leave a thumbs up but would gladly change my review once and or if certain things are addressed.

- Got a decently built character
- Proceeds to glitch out of the map from climbing a ladder, forcing my character to die
- Got another decently built character
- Proceeds to crash, my character dies
In all seriousness, this game has a lot of potential and it's very fun to play with friends. But it's moments like this, where it is out of my control and the game punishes me for it, which ruins the fun all together. There's more bugs than this but not all of them are this game breaking.
Outside of that, there is some aspects that should need a rework like the zombie spawns and detection. Out of all the games I play, there is no point of going quiet, it's always guns blazing. Which makes the skills of reducing noises, completely useless when the zombies just detect you and spawn around you regardless.
The game runs pretty poorly as well, constantly dropping frames and spikes because of the zombie spawns in the later sections.
The game is fun, and the devs are working to fix issues. But these are my current main complaints for this game and I really want this to be next great zombie game.
For now, its a 5-6/10, 7/10 when a match runs fine.

Short review writing after 500hour in game time.
The game looked really promising in the free weekend I liked it very much so I bought it.
The only fear what did I see in that moment was, the game wasnt polished and its EA!
I missed. While versus games on steam in this type, its very good and tense even in this state, and the developers put some work for the community that they want thats (very positive).
But the game really lacks optimization and crashes happening a lot.
Even after patches and patches happening, the game still crash and feels annoying, and makes frustration while losing numeroues characters just because only that, the crashes.
I really cannot understand how disappointing this, the devs cannot hire competent programmers for the engine, the game not stable, and the devs pushing out customization and nonrelevant things...-should be focused atleast to stable.
What means crashes happening a lot:
Even with a top notch PC can hit by constant crashes, on the discord most of the players say this the same.
I play 95percent my other games without any things happening, but this game is just runs pretty bad, from 20games 2crash and character lose, sure, so the other matches you need to lvl an another responder so likely soon after that responder get max lvl, other crash will happen, and the player losing that one too. Rinse and repeat...
The game overall sluggish and buggy, like an indie stuff, feels that really needs competent programmers for the engine.
The game looks very promising as I said. Some developers whose working on the design, and on the zombies, and on the weapons -sounds atleast making some really good stuff, but thats all at the moment.

Probably the only zombie survival game where I actually felt scared of something. Genuinely fun and I seriously hope this game gets more players. I played it back in the free weekend and it honestly was one of the most fun I had in ages. Bought it because I wanna play more as well as support as much as possible.

It is early access but controls and game play are glitchy and crashes. Would not be a big deal but its a 1 life type of game where if your player dies you lose it forever.

The review will probably change on release, but right now... I just cannot recommend this.
Don't get me wrong, the game is fun, but there's bugger all to do after playing the game for a few hours.
Want to challenge yourself to solo nightmares? Tough luck.
Want to create a fun-to-me build? Get absolutely obliterated by a gacha perk system.
Want to just chill and enjoy whatever the game throws at you? Enjoy 3 maps with 3 difficulties that in theory are the same.
As of the 0.4.2 patch we have:
- 3 maps total (1 coming in the July's patch).
- 3 difficulties that feel the same.
- 3 zombie types (not counting hazmat and police variants, same goes with crawlers).
- 6-7 ammunition types (don't remember off the top of my head).
- 1-2 guns per ammunition type.
- General lack of new player guidance.
This is merely scratching the surface because if, surprise surprise, you've been born in the EU - good luck finding teammates that actually communicate with you (also pray to the VOIP lord for their in-game VOIP to actually work which it doesn't half the time for whatever reason). I've missed so many opportunities to get that vanity revival medal up because nobody spoke about them being downed.
I've not played the first game for longer than an hour so... I'm not driven by nostalgia, but come on man; there's just not enough content to enjoy, not to mention the horror bedtime stories the actual veterans tell from way back when the game came into EA, just thinking about those is shivering my timbers.

As someone who just got the game, not being able to select difficulty and being sent into hard matches three times in a row is a big let down. Let us select difficulty.

I paid expecting to get a game where killing zombies is actually fun, not one that punishes me for doing so by spawning more behind me and in buildings I fully cleared and barricaded. It's currently a tedious task speedrun simulator where the developers are not listening to its players and adding new stuff while ignoring the game's core issues.

Too many zombies endless infinite respawn. Game punishes you by interacting with its combat. You melee kill them but they spawn endlessly no matter what. You use your guns and a horde spawns it basically just turns the game into the GTFO meta of bunnyhopping around ignoring zombies entirely.
Don't make a combat system if you'll punish players for interacting with it. Specially since the game doesn't really have any features outside of walk around and swing.

It's a hard game, okay fine. The fact that you get thrown into a match, don't really get map markers (like for the extraction points in example) fuckes everything up.
Playe for an hour, did pretty well. Got matched up with some russians the didn't speak any english, rushed around, got left alone.
Nice game, wouldn't recommend.

I would have loved this game ten fold if the teamwork aspect of the first one was there. Most of the time its everyone on their own until the last moment. I would have understood the main game as a gamemode but for there to be no option for a 4 player story quest or even a singleplayer one, really kinda over looks what the first game brought to the table. I get not wanting to make the same game again but in higher quality, but I feel like the teamwork aspect is a joke.

No More Room in Hell 2 delivers a gritty, atmospheric take on co-op zombie survival that trades traditional action for dread and uncertainty. From the moment you step into its abandoned streets, rural factories, or flickering corridors, the world speaks through its silence. Broken-down homes, blood-stained walls, and eerily quiet fields suggest not just decay, but desperation. There’s no exposition holding your hand—just your instincts and whatever supplies you can scavenge. The tension is thick from the start, and the game thrives on that sense of unease.
At its core, the gameplay is about survival through cooperation, but it doesn’t rush you into alliances. You often begin alone, creeping through the shadows until you find other survivors—if they’re still alive. When you do, the dynamic changes instantly. Every decision, from splitting ammo to assigning roles, becomes vital. Objectives are scattered across large, semi-open maps and include tasks like restarting power or finding parts to repair extraction points. These goals rarely feel like gamey chores—they’re framed naturally by the situation, and failing to complete them doesn’t just mean a lost match. It could mean your character is gone for good.
Permadeath is central to the experience, and it raises the stakes dramatically. If you die, you’re out—not just from the match, but from the progression that character had. Worse yet, if you're bitten and don't treat the infection, you'll turn, leaving your former teammates to fight off what you’ve become. The game recently introduced a feature that allows small remaining groups to evacuate early, which adds another layer of moral tension. Do you stay and fight a losing battle, or cut your losses and leave survivors behind?
Combat is raw and deliberate. Melee weapons feel heavy and brutal, and landing a clean headshot with a scarce bullet is immensely satisfying. There's a dismemberment system that makes every encounter grotesquely memorable, but zombies don’t go down easily—especially the tougher variants, which can feel more like bullet sponges than credible threats at times. Still, every swing and shot carries weight, which adds to the immersion and pressure.
That said, the game is still in early access and it shows. Technical issues like frame drops, AI bugs, and clunky melee animations occasionally pull you out of the experience. Hit detection isn’t always reliable, and the user interface can feel oversized or intrusive in such a bleak, immersive setting. There are currently only a few maps available, and while they’re large and detailed, they tend to share similar visual themes, which can make them blend together over time.
Despite the rough edges, No More Room in Hell 2 stands out because of its commitment to a slower, more unforgiving type of survival horror. The tension doesn’t come from hordes of zombies or flashy set pieces—it comes from not knowing whether you’ll find ammo before your next fight, whether that infection will take hold, or whether the stranger you just saved will get you all killed. It’s the kind of game where a successful escape feels like a true achievement. With more polish, content, and refinement, it has the potential to become one of the most memorable co-op horror experiences available. Even now, for those willing to endure its imperfections, it offers an experience that’s as intense as it is unforgiving.

this game has alot of potential.. the atmosphere is unmatched and the permadeath adds so much immersion and feeling of loss when you watch a fellow responder turn in front of you.
theres bugs and some performance issues but please understand that this is an alpha build on unreal 5.
if u have an average gaming pc build by todays standards can run this game pretty good on medium graphics id assume as i run the game on high with an 8gb 4060 & ryzen 5 7600.
i came into this game pretty un biased as ive never really played the first game so i dont see what all the hate is for.
this is a unique co op zombie experience and i cant wait to see where it goes. 7/10 and thats only due to EA problems and lack of content (which im sure more is to come)

This game is great but it needs some help. The main offenders being the inventory system and the zombies.
Zombies!!!!!
-unchoreographed/unfair lunging attacks. like lunging around other zombies to get a hit off.
-zombies cant be staggered out of climbing or standing up animations. That's some next levels of lame sauce.
-zombie spawns. omg zombie spawns need to chill out, its madding at times.
The Inventory System!!!
-i really dont think items should equip just from hovering over them. feels counter intuitive. i get caught switching to random pills and boomboxes when im checking ammo or dropping boards.

I bought this with my mate to play and whilst the melee combat is pretty terrible, the ranged weapons are okay. The gore and animations for the zombies are mediocre and quite jarring but the actual gameplayloop is solid....... but.....
THE BALANCING IS TERRIBLE
What I found is that this game just relies on spawning enemies based off a set amount that is dependant on that area level. And this ramps DRASTICALLY in the last area, meaning when you get there you literally cannot hold them off either by yourself or with 1 friend unless you have A LOT of ammo and even then its scetchy. Not only does it ramp the spawning massively but sometimes they spawn right on top of you. What adds to this further is the fact that some of these misison objectives have a buddy hold a big item so they move slow and cant attack, this makes it NYE ON IMPOSSIBLE SOLO and with 2 people its not much better.
I cannot overstate just how rediculously increased the spawn rate is in the last area compared to the rest. When me and my buddy got up to this we were like okay, we cant do this, better to survive and early extract than die. So we did...
You know what happens when you do that? You pretty much get nothing, the benefit of it is basically YAY your character didnt die... yeah... my level 1 character didnt die... woooo....
By far the saddest part about this is
The actual gameplay i find interesting and I can look past the polish issues in early access but the sheer lack of thought into the balancing and impact of the matching/coop and extraction machinics make me question if these devs will ever actually make this an experience that we could enjoy and so we refunded.
With the small population of players in Australia that are in this game its not feasible to look for 8 man lobbies and honestly I think its silly to FORCE players to do that. I remember the Division 2 did this with raids and those fell flat on their face.
I truely hope in a year or something they prove me wrong with this but honestly this game looks dead out of the water because of this clear lack of playtesting before launching into early access... Sorry to say it, but when you make an early access game that HIGHLY relient on multiplayer like this one, mistakes like this will kill it before it releases.

The game has had a rocky launch and I will give it grace considering it is early access so I don't think people should expect a finished game.
With that being said it definitely is not an excuse to ever launch a game in early access that feels like it is at least not on par with the first game, but so far each month they have been sending out decent updates to the game to make it better and hopefully the community sees that and gives the devs time to do it because one update will not fix the game.
I just really hope they address and change the way spawning works soon as that is the number one complaint.

I don't really write reviews but the negative reviews on this game are mostly lies and skill issues or old. The game loop is nearly perfect!!! The maps are amazing and you actually feel like your in a oppressing zombie apocalypse the whole game play feeling more cinematic and scary than many other zombie coop games. The perks are cool and interesting letting you optimize your character with some cool stuff.
These are the only REAL issues with the game
1 I think the randomness of making a character with random perks is a useless feature holding this game back that no one asked for what-so ever. Get ride of that being the norm make making characters easy and just can hand pick perks all the way to level fifty that you have unlocked. Maybe keep it in being a more of a wacky way to play when you get bored or to try and test yourself or play differently maybe letting you play instantly with a maxed out character. You have one character slot that is a random character slot that clears after every game. This is more unique and fun the current system that holds this game bye the balls slowly killing it. THIS NEEDS TO BE BE CHANGED!!!
2 This game has a story your characters have a purpose their is a goal for every map and run right??? ALL 8 PLAYERS ARE PART OF THE SAME ORGANIZATION WITH THE SAME GOALS AND BRIEFINGS YOUR A SQUAD OF 8 A TEAM sent in to help and get supplies!!! Except you don't look are act or interact with each other as such. Everyone looks like a random hobo all stuck in a room trying to get to everything first and that effect's the way you play subconsciously feeling and playing more like a individual rather than a team. Now I'm not saying individual play is bad im just stating that ill care more about a team member if i know we are all on the same team. The fix is to give all 8 players a large symbol of the organization you all are in or like a big bright red strap on your arms or a Common uniform that all 8 characters wear that you can customize to show how long your character have been alive and helping. I think right now we all share the same back pack or some small lame patch which is just lame and lazy.
3 optimization is a low 3 out of five please do better
4 They made the kick bad and stamina bad and recovery bad which makes no sense. In game you kick like some person whose bed stuck with cancer. You used to kick like a Olympian kick boxer. MAKE THE KICK GRATE AGAIN!!
5 Zombies cant be kicked down when sitting or standing up that's goofy and makes no sense fix it pls
6 Get ride of all the places where you can just climb and be safe and free from trouble that's lame or make zombies able to throw rocks.
The game is a solid 8 out of 10 or high 7 Play it its AWESOME!!!

Played a hundred hours without ever crashing, most recent update has added crashes in every single play session since. Not a point in playing since crashing causes irreversible progress loss and it'll probably be a little bit before another update that adds match reconnect, so it'll just be a month straight of a game that's functionally unplayable.

No Room Left for Solo Players
No More Room in Hell 2 looks gritty and tense, like it should be the perfect zombie survival game—until you realize you have zero control over how you actually play it. Want to play solo? Too bad. Every match forces you into multiplayer, whether you like it or not.
It doesn’t matter if you want to explore slowly, conserve ammo, or just experience the horror atmosphere at your own pace—you're shoved into a server with random players who sprint around like it's Call of Duty Zombies. Any sense of tension or strategy is instantly killed by chaotic teammates and no way to go it alone.
Why even pretend this is survival horror if you're going to strip out player freedom? There’s no proper solo mode, no true offline play—just forced co-op every time. It’s lazy design and completely kills replayability for anyone who doesn’t want to rely on strangers to enjoy the game.
Until the devs figure out that “play your way” should actually mean something, No More Room in Hell 2 is a total miss.

Just the atmosphere itself is worth it, that feeling of helplessness when you are stuck in a room with 20 zombies banging on the door or that extraction energy when you're almost out of ammo but you see that helicopter 150 meters away. Just perfect!

With the update road map showing whats coming I'm really hyped to see where it'll take the game.
Edit: Just give us a solo option. I join public games just to watch everyone die on the first objective and then I have to do everything anyway.

I think this game gets a bad rap. On release, it was deserved, and even now it's still not for everyone. There's a lot of people who want the slower and linear levels from NMRIH1 (which is also a fun game and you should try). It also has its fair share of bugs and problems but the amount of improvements, new features, and effort by the devs to listen to the community and make the game better has been great. So many devs would have given up or doubled down on bad decisions, but these devs are different here.
Pros:
- Amazing maps - these are the best things about this game. Highly detailed, explorable and dripping with atmosphere. Even some easter eggs if you look closely. Radios and environmental storytelling reveal the state of the zombie apocalypse and it really evokes Dawn of the Dead / George Romero movies.
- Zombies remind me of Romero shamblers and are kinda creepy - they scream, cry, laugh, and won't stop trying to eat you. There's also a chance to get infected when you get grabbed which makes everything feel more dangerous. (You can use pills to slow the infection or even find a rare cure.)
- Weapons feel impactful. Some melee weapons still need balancing but a lot of them are really fun to use and the guns are well animated and punchy.
- When you land in a lobby with folks that are communicating and working together, it feels awesome. Really fun to meet up with other survivors and put together makeshift teams.
- Sound design is good, lots of spooky sounds, dynamic soundtrack, sounds of the apocalypse in the background, picking up items and interacting has good feedback.
-Main gameplay loop is fun, frantic, the points of interest are challenging but get easier the more you do them.
-A lot of the game objectives are intuitive enough to figure out on your own and easy to hop in and help other players.
- The devs are constantly updating the roadmap and adding lots of requested features.
Cons
- Still a lot of small bugs. Sometimes there are crashes, and when I first played, the game wouldn't launch. (Fixed now for me, had to reinstall and then verify files.).
- If you get a bad team or a bunch of people die, you can now early extract, but it's not always apparent where the extraction points are.
- Zombies spawning always makes you feel surrounded, which can add to the atmosphere and frantic nature, but it sucks to clear out a house and suddenly there are zombies still inside. Would make more sense to have the additional zombies appear outside of buildings or give the player a break after an intense zombie attack.
- If you get a bad team or if you're the only one at a complicated objective, it kinda sucks to do the objectives alone. You're pretty much screwed if you're at the finale and it's only you or one other person.
- Lots of inventory space, items need more balancing to have realistic inventory holding size. I've seen lots of players just dumping dozens of health kits at the end of the level just because they have the room to pick them up.
-If you extract your survivor and they are infected, there are no consequences. It's fine from a gameplay perspective (it doesn't affect you), but maybe they should get a negative perk or something.
-Survivors look kinda ugly. They are adding customization soon though, so maybe it'll get better.
I didn't play this game on release, but after giving it a try after the Reanimation plus, I really enjoy the two new maps, infection system, and improved gameplay. It can be a difficult game, and new survivors might not survive, but I haven't gotten tired and I want to keep playing.
I really would recommend playing this on a free weekend or getting this game on sale if you're a fan of zombies. It is early access, yes, but it's really improving with regular updates and the devs are listening. Just playing it for the time I have, I can really tell the there's a good direction for this game. I'm really excited to keep playing and I hope more folks give it a chance.

game is in early access, and the only thing I can say is everything feels bad. Guns don't feel good to use, melee is clunky, zombies can be difficult to stun at times, and for a new player, games feel impossibly long. Nothing is properly explained, which can be a good thing, but can at times be a miss on this one. My primary complaint however, above everything else this game has going for it, is re spawns. There are no safe areas, there is no one building you cleared and can come back to, there is place safe to sit and heal up, re spawns would be fine if they weren't every single time I turned my back to an area. I like the constant pressure, don't get me wrong. and there are some moments where zombie spawns genuinely made my experience better, like them falling off of a roof (that was the only example and that was because it was novel). I desperately want to like this game and I will definitely continue playing but at this time, the core game play feels bad. not a bug issue, not a balance issue, just sloppy. and from the studio that made chivalry, I'm deeply disappointed. I'd love to change my review in the future, but the game is just unenjoyable in its current state. Removing (or heavily reworking) re spawns is a good first step, but melee needs a complete rework.

it's a fun game, there are a few things that need to be tweaked but I don't understand the amount of hate it gets, they give it regular updates that add weapons and fix issues people have and the game itself is difficult but makes you feel like you're actually pushing your way through hordes of zombies.
people need to remember that this is early access and not the endgame, just be patient.

Support the devs, very few games can accomplish the cooperative level that is needed to win like this one. buy the game. it's very good. very intense gameplay

Extremely fun co-op experience
Originally had my doubts as I came in from NMRIH 1 and the two games are too different from each other, but it managed to change my opinion after playing it. What's cool is that it even has the main menu music from the first game.
Positives
VERY FUN
Atmospheric, you feel like you're in an actual apocalypse
Permadeath Characters adds a risk to all your actions
Negatives
The game has a lot of bugs (given since it's in early access)
Performance issues
Lack of content (slowly changing over time)
Overall if I had to choose, I'd choose mixed review if I was given a choice but just to get the game more attention, I'm giving it a positive. The game deserves much more attention and as well as content.
At it's current state, BUY on SALE or if you genuinely want to invest on the game's future.

Considering the game is still in early access I am willing to give it a fair shot. It has some mechanics that give it an edge over the first game. The only thing missing right now is maps and the survival gamemode. The current maps are great, but there is only 4 so far.
There are bugs, which I assume will be fixed in the future. The team seems to be actively working on the game, adding maps, weapons and quality of life changes.
I really like the game, I've played 13.9 hours over just a few days, I've been addicted to it.
If you enjoyed the objective mode of the original game, get this game on discount.

Still not good but better than release. There's plenty of graphical issues I could get into but that's not really important to me as it doesn't effect my game play. However, there's still issues with hit reg when hitting/kicking, teammates loot like they're going to be keeping the weapons afterwards yet somehow they're at 0 mats for the team(I'm talking about you DARKSIDESITH, fat loot pig), no one helps their team(People just let the ones carrying c4 in the new maps get destroyed). It's not ready for a $30 price tag tbh.
