This game is not good. If you don't like tetris. But if you do, and I mean REALLY like tetris, this game is amazing. And look, as my city's #1 tetris player, yeah, I love this game. this game is great. the games are varied, from the bare-bones roots of this amazing franchise on the Elektronica 60, to the time-travelling score chaser & friendship killer that is Tetris Time Warp. Plus there is that one go game too i guess. And on top of all of that, you have a several hour long interactive documentary detailing almost every nook and cranny of this franchise's 40 year history. Now, I must suggest a couple things for new players of this game to maximise enjoyment. #1: USE THE CONTROLLER'S DPAD IF YOU ARE USING ONE. I cannot overexaturate how important it is to not use a joystick. Tetris is all about precise movement of your pieces, so i recommend only using the dpad to take full advantage of a controller. #2: Watch the tetris movie (on apple tv+) after finishing the documentary in-game. It is a more dramatic-story focused version of this story, and then the game's documentary is more facts and more in depth, and they go great together. #3: Play the games as they show up in the documentary. This collection is not about collecting every tetris game ever, it is about the development of the game. Playing the games alongside the story makes you actually experience that development first-hand. And finally, #4: Play every mode, of every game. Especially tetris time warp. That game has so many distinct modes, single player and multiplayer. And on that note, let's talk about the multiplayer in all these games. I must say, it is plain AMAZING. The ability to just hop into a remote play together with your friends and start playing about 6-7 different tetris games that support multiplayer, each with gimmicks and mechanics exclusive to each game. And the multiplayer in tetris time warp especially is amazing. The ability to essencially trap your opponents in a vulnerable state where anyone can attack them while they can't do anything until they clear their time-warps is amazing. It is such a varied mechanic that spans from defense, to offence, giving yourself a liitle time to recover from an attack, and even just screwing off an entire group. It is sheer mastery of game design. And I have seen games with mechanics this well designed that are all ruined by having a bad base or the mechanic showing up too much or too little, but this game is not it. Firstly, the base is tetris. That's my point there. Second, the mechanic's usage is based off of skill. If the players are good, the gimmick does show up more, sure, but it also goes away so much faster. And the opposite is true for unskilled players. Overall, this collection is amazing. If you like tetris.
