First of all the dynamic brake is waaay too weak. It barely slows the train down and I have to apply the normal brake to slow me down enough before I pass the next signal. I don't think the normal brakes should be used at 300 km/h.
It's shaking too much. Especially in the tunnel. It's rediculous. The TGV should be a smooth ride.
No other traffic? It feels like I am the last man on earth.
There are a couple of bugs. For example; brakes won't properly release after an emergency braking and at some point the traction lever doesn't work anymore. You can see the amp meter jump back to 0 very quickly. Can be bypassed by using the cruisecontrol, which work sluggish. It's little things that will be fixed... I hope.
Of course there are also good things.
The sound is done very well. Maybe a bit too quiet though. The traction engines should be heard over the rail noice.
Cabin view looks nice. So does the pasenger view.
Complex signaling system with tutorial.
French routes in the future?
I was eagerly awaiting a TGV route but I am a bit disapointed. Especially for the €30,- I paid. Route's too short and there's isn't much going on. And on top of that the train drives not so well with the shaking and bad brakes. Perhaps a patch someday?

As this is the first French based commercial add-on. I will give it a fair score. The add-on is well made and the detail is impressive and I like how the dual signalling is implemented into the route as on the LGV lines. You use the in-cab TVM430 signal display that is controlled by the blue and yellow coloured beacons that also dominate the speed limit permissible and also enforced speed limits that apply at areas such as LGV stations and terminal points such as Marseille. The second signalling type that is commonly used on the non-LGV lines is the KVB signalling that you will first use when driving from Marseille station. The TGV included with the route is the TGV Duplex which is a very nicely modelled train and the texturing is excellent all round and the train uses default controls unlike the other TGV route that is produced by JustTrains. So that is a positive note. However, I would have liked a TGV Reseau included as this would have added more value to the pack. Also the route being only 65 miles long (105km), it is a bit short as I would have liked the route to have extended to Valence and Nimes like the original 2002 LGVmed route that was made for MSTS did. But as this is the first SNCF themed product, its a positive start and I will give my summary below with a fair score.
Positive Points
Great Detail (Route and TGV)
TGV is fun to drive
The tutorial scenarios are clear and concise for those that are not familiar with the SNCF signalling
TGV Duplex has nice sounds
Negative Points
Only one train
No TGV Reseau or TGV PSE
Route should have been longer
Overall Rating: 7/10.
Worth a try!
All in all, I would recommend this add-on over the JustTrains Atlantic route as the TGV Duplex is a much better textured and a captured train in terms of its accuracy.

The pros:
- Good detailed TGV Duplex, looks the part
- Good detailed Route
- Finally, a TGV! And LGV!
- The signalling system is well done, also the manual is quite comprehensive
The cons:
- The Duplex had a bit too much power, it shouldn't accelerate this fast
- The braking system is completely shot. The dynamic brake doesn't really work which forces you to use air brakes at 300 km/h. Braking is a pain.
- The pantograph system isn't entirely accurate (but that could be a limitation of Rail Simulator itself), I managed to get power from the 1,5 kV DC overhead catenary while the 25 kV LGV pantograph setting was selected
- Haven't really managed to figure out the cruise control, when I press Y or C I do get a message "Enabled" or "DIsabled" but no indication what speed I set.
People have also complained about the short route and the lack of other trains, but I personally am very happy that they finally did a French route. With this kind of speed the route will seem short, and going to Valence or Lyon would have been fun but that's quite the distance (maybe in the future).
I still recommend this DLC though. I had fun, and my biggest complaint/wish is that they do a patch to fix the braking system.
EDIT: Apparently there has been a patch, the dynamic brake now works better than before. The acceleration while using cruise control is a bit weak, howver (of course you can do it by hand and change to cruise control later). The cruise control responds a bit sluggish, although I've managed to find out where the speed indication is (next to the speedometer).
If you also have the London-Faversham addon you of course can use the TGV Duplex over there as well (not entirely accurate but at least you'll have another TVM430 capable train besides the class 395 and the class 92).

When DTG announced that they got the license with SNCF I was mixed with joy and a little worry, but DTG certainly didn't let me down this time, this route is just fantastic.
To be honest I wasn't expecting this route can be such detailed especially with JT already announced another one in the first place. I can even say the scenery is as good as many mountain-pass routes like the Feather River Canyon. And you can experience it at also tremendously high speed. Yes there are already high-speed routes and there are also quite a lot of great-scenery routes before, but this really is the first one which combined both perfectly.
For a whole-new country with a completely new system of trains, I can certainly notice that DTG is trying hard not to compromise in quality while spending efforts on creating a lot of new things. When you consider that, this route is actually very worth the price.
Next comes with the TGV Duplex, this is way better than DB ICE when you compare the modeling quality and details. The train looks breathtaking and in adequate amount of features. And also the physics feels great, as well as the sounds.
But when mentioning physics, there is one little thing I couldn't understand. At one specific tunnel outside Marseille, the train shakes very badly, same thing happened in Class 395 before, I wondered what really caused it because I believe such shaking is absolutely intolerant in real TGVs.
If I have to complain about something, I wish there were more buttons that I can actually press like the cruise control settings, it can work but I wish I can operate them in the cab with switches rather than pressing Y and C. And if I can have another angle in passenger view like a view of the lower floor seats. I would be overjoyed.
In conclusion, I'm satisfied and I'm really looking forward to other French routes, nice work DTG and keep on going:)

Well overall not too bad but for 40 bucks id say its a no go. Id pay at MOST 25-30. The route looks great and so does the Duplex however keep in mind the run takes around 20 minutes to complete, so its not lengthy at all. Although at the speeds the TGV is moving its understable why. However I cannot recommend this route at all to anyone until the cab shake is fixed, its is abosulteley unacceptbale for that to happen. How did they test the route and think that charging 40 bucks with that shaking going on was okay, do they even care what there putting out?!? Don't get me wrong its not even like alittle bouncing (although that does happen along the rest of the route even though it shouldnt on a TGV) but that I can deal with. In certain spots the train will actually start leaping up and down, almost like an earthquake. What on earth were they thinking? Great train and great route but the glitches and short ride really spoil it for me. 7/10.

I Think this is a really boring route add-on. It goes to literally nowhere and the variety of scenario's is very limited. I have played all the scenario's, but once you've done that, there is no reason to come back to this route, except speed-testing trains :P

Not a bad track, BUT, if I understand the track signs correctly, in Marseille, you should not drive at 25kV LGV, but the train gets power nevertheless. Dynamic brake doesn't work for me (I must click and hold the lever to make it work) and after I triggered emergency brake, after release, there was constantly weak braking force remaining and braking indicator on dashbord was flashing irregurarly.
And the track length is pretty short for 30€.
Edit: Dynamic brake works only if cruise control is off. I get that, but at 320 kph, if I'm requested to reduce speed, it takes seconds to turn it off and precise speed setting on cruise control is impossible due to 'setting lag'. On top of that, cruise control doesn't apply brakes at all, it only holds speed if throttle is set and on severe gradients you'll get points off because 320 setting maintain exactly 320 without brakes.
Edit 2: Dynamic brake under cruise control is only applied if you don't apply power. Gradient problem solved. After 2 drives, I recommend this only to fans, train control, especially brakes are clunky at best.
Edit 3: KVB doesn't work or I operate it poorly. When alarm flashes, I press Q, nothing happens and emergency brakes are applied.
Edit4: If you change cabs with brakes applied, you can't release brakes fully on other end. Missing feature that are present in longer Just Trains route: Circuit breaker, driver operation switch.

I must admit that driving TGV even though a bit boring for most of the time is pretty fun. We have parts with normal signaling and with TVM cab signals. We need to change the tension of the pantograph depending on the power system. 320 km/h looks amazing. The brakes are challenging to use, pretty simiar to old steamers which is fun. But consider buying this only if you also plan to buy the extension. Marseille to Avignon route alone is just too short to make any sense at all. With the extension you have 300 km with about 90 minutes of driving time which seems enough for a casual drive.

Rode the TGV from Paris to Switzerland, Jan, 1985 Seemed fast, but not the reported 187mph (maybe 145-150). Couple of weeks later, rode back to Paris, fast as it seemed, suddenly sounding like a jet taking off.... we were travelling at 187mph. Looking at the passing scenery from the window, hurts your eyes as your brain cannot keep up with the scenery change, i.e., overpass, you see it in front, by the time you turn to look at your right, it's already gone. Weird, and wonderful.
Glad to see this train on Train Simulator. thank the train gods.

It's a really good route from France. Perfect in almost everything. But maybe put some bushes or weeds next to the tracks. Also where did all the graffiti go? It's too clean. Jokes aside buy this add-on even if it's missing the graffiti.
+Good train.
+Good route.
+Good sounds.
+Nice station buildings.
-Too clean. Zero Graffiti.
-Not enough bushes or weeds on the non-LGV parts.
-Catenary is almost perfect A.K.A. DTG quality but acceptable.
-Abandoned stations doesn't look like they're abandoned.

This is what you get:
3 stations
boring scenery
a couple of scenarios...
I really don't like it. I can't even do scenario 3 cause I always get distracted and overshoot the station. Also breaking this train is a nightmare

Don't get me wrong I like this route. But 100km (60 miles). At 320kph (200mph). Basic maths dictates that end to end at full speed using the speed formula:
Speed = Distance / Time
We can calculate that it takes approximately 20 minutes to drive.
If you want to buy it, then I sincerely request that you buy the extension which makes it 10x better plus 3x longer.
So, if you want to buy it, get the core route plus the Rhone-Alpes and Mediteranee bundle. DO IT.

This was a nice and long waited route and train. If you like high speed trains this route is for you.Of course there is not much "action" since it's a high speed train but i love it. The only negative i have for this is that when you are going very fast, you can see the trees in the far popping up cause they didn't have enoigh time to render.
Overall it's a nice route and i hope for more French routes in the future. I recommend maybe with sale if you don't want to spend much.
P.S. This route has achievements and it's fairly possible to get them all.

I think this is one of the best route DLCs Dovetail has made.
The route covers the LGV Méditerranée between Marseille Saint-Charles and Avignon TGV. Other than the two termini, there's only one station on the route: Aix-en-Provence TGV. The train included is the TGV Duplex in the classic SNCF blue livery, a mainstay of french high speed.
Disclaimer: this route can get pretty laggy, especially in the Marseille area (goes from 50 fps to 20 fps for me), so beware if you have a weaker PC. Tile loading stutter can aso be quite noticeable, due to the very high speeds.
First off: the scenery is very well done and is always nice to look at, both in urban and rural areas. The 3 stations on the route are defintely well made, especially Marseille Saint-Charles.
For track infrastructure, the track laying is decent, nothing special but reasonably smooth considering the speeds. The track model used is the standard 2D one DTG has been using for quite a while now, but the high speed section has a lighter ballast colour, like in real life.
Catenary, on the other hand, is quite nice, and uses different models between the 1.5kV DC section and the 25kV AC high speed section. The overhead line also does the classic "zig-zag", and has neutral sections modelled, altough not functional.
On the other hand, I've heard from french people that the BAL signalling is incorrect, but I don't have any knowledge in this field. I can safely say that the KVB safety system behaves pretty strangely sometimes, like saying that you're going over the speed limit even when you're 10km/h under. The TVM system is a bit better, and it's relatively easy to use. Still, I've noticed that sometimes it will warn you to slow down, even if the line is fully clear and you're not approaching any speed restrictions.
Now, let's talk about the included train, the TGV Duplex: the model looks absolutely gorgeous under every aspect. It comes in the only livery carried at the time, the SNCF blue one.
Sadly sounds aren't exactly good, but also not bad. I'd say the normal DTG standard. Traction motors sound pretty nice, but run sounds and the horn are a let down.
The train features the option to change power modes between standard 25kV AC, standard 1.5kV DC and high speed 25kV AC. This doesn't have any effect on the train though, so you can drive with whatever power setting you want with no problems.
Physics are pretty wird as it stands, the train definitely accelerates too quickly, and reaches an unrealistic top speed Also, when moving the throttle lever, the train stops applying power until you stop moving it. For the braking, I see nothing wrong in the way the electric and air brake work.
However, that air brake command can be relatively sensitive, and it's quite easy to go into emergency. It doesn't help that the TGV Duplex has lapped brakes, which are not as common as standard brakes. Basically, there are 4 positions: Release - Hold - Apply - Emergency. By putting the brake in Apply, the brakes will gradually apply: by putting the lever in Hold, the train will hold the braking force that was reached using the Apply position. By putting the lever in the release position, the brakes will gradually come off, until fully released.
So, what is there to do on this route? Well, not much. The only kinds of services here are Marseille - Avignon and the opposite, so it can get pretty boring fast, especially with TVM. The included scenarios do include some variations like wrong track running and depot runs, but I haven't played them all.
Final verdict: if you like high speed and don't mind not having much to do between stations, this is a great DLC to have. However, if you prefer more variety, this DLC defintely isn't for you. I personally like it and i don't find it that boring, but to each their own.

Very good route, but again, not worth the money. Why make it so short? Marseille to Avignon is a super short route. Can't they extend it to Lyon: then it will be worth the money. And also, there are many TGV liveries which should be included in this: Ouigo, Camelion colour...

Good totorials on signaling
Fun to drive
lots of hills and tunnels
Brakes are like a class 66
Cons

I do really like Train simulator but this DLC grinds my gears (as Peter Griffin would have said). First it's too expensive, I do not really get the whole idea of first buying a game and then have to pay nearly as much for utter shit somebody has done while on the toilet. It's sad because it could have been really nice.
This DLC offers nothing exiting, I get really pissed when the movement of the train is so great that you get a penalty for discomfort just by driving in a corner, and it's just because of how the game is made, a train is not supposed to bounce side to side like it is doing in this. Do it right for god's sake.
The grapics is shit, period. And for 29.99€ you could expect more then 3 career scenarios, wich really just is to drive shit fast in a strait line. And suddenly the train stops and you can't get it going, lovely.
But this DLC did something good at least, it made me vivid with Dovetail and I will never buy any of their shit again, and thats good!
Save your money!

The first French route by Dovetail in the Train Simulator franchise. Thanks! I've been dreaming of French routes for a long time, and I'm a big TGV fan. Plus, it includes the 320 km/h section south of Avignon, which gives you access to the fastest TGV speed in the current day.
The route is a very nice piece of work, one of the best Dovetail DLCs that I know of, I really recommend it (especially in the TS 2017 or "pioneer" pack where is it bundled with many other nice routes for a fair price).
Everything (landscape, stations, signaling, sounds, trains) is finely executed.
You can realistically drive your own TGV train on a high speed line as well as on the regular line leading to Marseille. That was one of my dreams, so thanks for that Dovetail :). You can even drive double Duplex units. Actually you'll meet many Duplex units as this is the only train in the DLC, so all AI trains are other Duplex units.
Main drawback, at mentioned by many others, the line is short, 105 km, which at 300-320 km/h doesn't represent a lot of driving time.
There is a potential for lots more scenarios, including rescues: I'm not sure there are those typical LGV "platforms in the nature" used to change trains, in this part of the line (didn't see any for the moment, but I may have missed it at 320 km/h), but there some sidings where you can get some fun.
You get the 1.5kV / 25kV / LGV switch. Sometimes you'll notice your train lacks power after the tunnel at the end of the LGV when bound to Marseille, that's because you need to switch to 1.5kV. I believed it was a bug at first, until I realized.
You even get KVB, VACMA and VI (cruise control) if you want higher realism.
The cab sounds (esp. motors and the braking) are very realistic, as anyone who's heard a real Duplex cab can attest; so you get the gist of the experience in that respect too. Some device beeps seem less realistic (I'm not sure about the VACMA sounds, which in real life are more like a ring and a horn). These are little details; I only miss the frantic beep-beep-beep-beep of the KVB when the cab is powered on, and the bell which signals the driver that the doors have been closed and the train is clear to go.
The train seems slightly under powered. It has probably more difficulty accelerating and maintaining speed than it should, when climbing, and takes a *lot* of time to reach 320 km/h. The odd thing is that it has the same difficulty at 140 km/h and at 300 km/h when on a grade, which doesn't seem logical to me. Perhaps there is some calibration to be done by Dovetail as compared with a real train.
The TVM 430 indications sometimes deviate slightly from the actual thing (as far as I can tell), it sometimes switches to a more restrictive indication in the middle of a block, which is supposed not to happen. It also presents a weird 080 indication that you can safely ignore in the Marseille tunnel. At least one KVB beacon seems slightly misconfigured, also, which forces you to anticipate some speed restrictions if you activate KVB. These are not big problems, most players won't use these options and for those who do, it doesn't cause any real problem once you are used to it.
The signaling tutorial is not fully correct (Nf signals with only 3 red/yellow/green lights don't exist), Dovetail doesn't seem to have fully grasped the plate and œilleton concept :-), but it's very subtle anyway and it doesn't affect driving at all.
The KVB, if you choose to use it, guarantees you lots of fun with unexpected emergency braking in the first few moments, until you get used to finding out whether it's looking for an acknowledge press or braking to match speed. Talk with real drivers about the pain of having to slow down the train to 10 km/h to get past a red signal that just turned to yellow or green in the distance :)
To use VACMA and KVB and get basics of signaling you have to read the accompanying documentation, this can also be said from similar functions in other routes (LZB and AFB in Germany).
Overall, a very fine first French route with all the equipment you can dream of, and very realistic except for a few minor fixable details (believe me, I'm very picky, as you may have understood above, and I realize the major precision work that's been provided). I hope it's only the first of a long series! There are many other LGVs and TGVs to have fun with, be it in France, Belgium or Spain :)

fun game... Like buying Routes when on sale...
this one looks good.. could be longer at these speeds... short on stations, but it is high speed.. its very long when combined with the extension route... but the AI and road traffic is a bit lacking and you get just one train... when on sale.. and if you want something different like a France route... sure... grab it .. when on sale.. I personally think DTG over prices all their routes to allow more sales that look like deals... make sure you get a deal you can live with....
"ALWAYS BUY ON SALE, ALWAYS"
and by sale..I mean 60% or better...

The fact that the tgv has been returned to train simulator, is 1 of the thing that i like. But why arent no more routes avaible, only this one. And the top speed on this track is 320 km/h, witch its pretty fast. But then you have to reach this speed, to experience it. But since the new update i never reached the true speed of 320 km/h, cause some how the power has been reduced and than the speed drops till 315 310 km/h and that is not 320 km/h. And where are the others trains that running currently today on this route, like the real tgv Atlantique, Sud est, the inoui? If there are more trains, more things to add, like a cruise control, train drivers alert. Then i can recommend this game. But now no, its to expensive for this route.
But the scenery, the train its self is good looking. But drives not like a real one.
Thanks

Excellent route, as was to be expected.
Biggest surprise is the TGV however. The official top speed is 320 km/h, but I clocked it at 375!
Things got even better when I reproduced the Test Train setup (with 3 carriages) and reached 466.8 km/h!!!

Meh. Looks like the developers assume that you'll not notice the barren, sloppy countryside with its hurried textures and lifeless landscape... because you'll be driving 200 miles an hour. The train's nice, but that's it. The other lines in the 2017 edition are far better. Don't buy this one as a stand alone.

I purchased this route when it came out. The train was capable of ~346km/h max sped with awersome acceleration. Since the last game update, it barely can reach the max line speed and feels powerless. Takes away the excitement. Please change it back or compensate. Btw the cab sounds are one of the best and the scenery is well designed. One of my favourites and I recommend it.

Great looking trainset and route, I really enjoyed it, BUT, in expert mode the brakes are inadequate. Combined throttle-brake on full barely slows the train, plus adding full air doesn't do much either. I look forward to a patch or update, then I will say this is a great route. Will recommend it because it is a nice route and train and I'm going to give Dovetailthe benefit of the doubt and assume they fix the brakes.

Apart from a from a few issues with the TGV itself, this is a very well made route. In fact there is probably more, (and better) detail on this route than most 'slow' routes, maybe worth getting for that alone. However, there seems to be a propensity on DTG's part to produce ever shorter routes. The fact that this is a high speed line doesn't help either, but it could be longer. 20-30 mins from one end to the other is a tad short.
It could also benefit from at least another train, perhaps even a local service, with a small branch line, just to add dynamic to it. Overall though, a very well made route, and all the new assets look great too.

Though the scenarios aren't as long (around 30 mins at the most) it's to be expected with this good looking fast train. All scenarios function correctly (expect #7, the TVM display shows the speed limit lowering but the white cruise control needle will indicate the correct speed limit until automatic signaling is disabled then just follow the speed signs. Just know this problem doesn't count as speeding or effect anything cause majority of the time 300-320 km/h is the actual limit), the driver cab and passenger view look great and sounds are quality.

PROS: well-made route, frame rate friendly, authentic TGV sound and signalling
CONS: so bumpy especially in the tunnel, there are no local trains at Marseille station, slightly stronger tractive effort than TGV duplex in real world

Driving at 320km/h is impressive, although also a tad boring. The route is nice, although a tad short. The TGV in-cab signalling is pretty neat, but the braking system requires some practice.
Personally I think the non-LGV part of the line at Marseille is the most interesting, varied and beautiful of the whole line. Unfortunately it only lasts a few kilometres. :)

Please please please can we have some Britannia Class Pacifics
for Steam with a set of Mk 1 carriages. I have been waiting in hope for a long tiime. I am 68 now and was a regular 'spotter' at Ipswich and sometimes Norwich at weekends. They were the only Pacifics we ever saw. When they first appeared we were so exited as we had never seen anything like them before. Also they worked in just about every region on BR. in England and Wales. I have previously purchased the '9F' and the 'Clans' but neither come close to the Britannia's. Please answer my request. Best Wishes 'OAKAMORE.' I realiise this is not the right place for my request but find it very hard to find anywhere else to write my request

I like the route and the graphics, however the brakes seem to have an issues. The the dynamic and train brakes do not slow down the train, unless the train brake is almost at the highest setting.
The manual does not explain this issue, so I will have to return it for a refund. I would definitely get it again once the brake issues are resolved.

Absolute masterpiece. You'd be forgiven to assume the route would be lacking detail due to the fact you'd be blasting through it at 300 Km/h, But surprisingly, its as beautiful as any other high-quality route. Highly reccomend it.

Ok, here are my first impressions as a French rail-fan:
[olist]
[*] The Cab signaling part is nice, and the train looks good.
[*] The BAL signaling (wayside signals on the non-high speed part) is s**t. The KVB (speed & signals enforcement) is bugged as hell and the various stop aspects do not work like that. AT ALL.
[*] According to the manual, diverging speed restrictions start at the signal IG while they start at the turnout IRL (which is correct)... due to a limitation in the TS speed signaling. Why oh why did they not just implement the speed restriction on the actual diverging track instead?
[*] Despite it's physical length, it's quite short: 30min to drive from one end to the other, only 3 stations. That's to be expected given the speed, though...
About the brakes
People complain that it's extremely hard to use the air-brakes without pushing it all the way to emergency. It's true that the controls are a bit sensitive, but IMO it's due to a lack of understanding of how it works (and a failure on the manual part to explain it properly). There are 4 positions: "release", "hold", "apply", and "emergency": the lever does not directly control the amount of braking. Both release and application are gradual: put the lever to "apply", wait until you are satisfied with the deceleration, then put it back to "hold". If you're slowing down too much, release the brakes a bit and then go back to "hold". Don't stay on "apply" for the whole time or you'll end-up slowing down too quickly. The brake air pressure is shown by the green needle on the bottom left dial on the left of the dashboard.

First things first:
GTX 970, game on max setting at 1080p = 30-40 FPS and sometimes it drops to 15-25 (quite often).
Also you need to remember to change voltage from 2x25kV 50Hz AC to 1,5kV DC.
There is still bug with pantographs. TGV has 2: one for AC and one for DC overhead catenarty.
The problem is that train in this game use same pan for AC and DC. It has 2 but only uses the ones for AC.... These for DC are always off. They got it kinda right because at 1,5kV DC you need 2 pans (front and rear) but still train is using wrong pans...

Pros:
Decent scenery
not so boring because of track speed
winding viaducts
Cons:
1 train
sketchy floating tracks...
The dynamic brakes slow down like the brake pad is made out of ramen.
6/10 meh, it could be better, but for now, it does the job.

My review before the update: Nice scenery, good idea (high speed TGV on high speed route) but sloppy programmed. Cruise control is worthless.
After the update: well, it can be done. Gratulations. Cruise control now works better. TGV has less power. If that's more accurate, I'm ok with it. Missions are better timed. And you're not alone in this world anymore. When you use cruise control the train uses even lesser power, which results in speed lost on climbs. But overall a much better product now.

This is definitely best DLC for Train Simulator. I've always wanted to drive TGV, I hope they release more TGV tracks soon, and maybe Thalys and Eurostar also.
