Classic. Lots of ways to die and be a girl boss.

Don't be swayed by the cutesy exterior ... This is not necessarily my favorite, but I have a lot more good things to say about this game than bad. This visual novel is great you want something strategy, but not action-packed. I definitely appreciated it! Sometimes I got a little frustrated hehe this visual novel forced me to think so I didn't meet an untimely end (seeing the various ways to die somehow has become a goal of mine though). There is also walk-through online to see where you may have missed the mark. Understanding the mechanics of the game could be interesting though. This is a relatively inexpensive game, and honestly worth a shot!

I've only had Elodie for 5 hours now... But if anything (else) happens to her, I will use my (Elodie's) royal authority to banish, imprison, or execute everyone and give her the crown by default. I desperately want to turn the princess into a dictator, but they force me to actually pay attention to politics, poisoning, peasants, and pets. 10/10 would struggle to decide what class to send the princess to to avoid certain death again. This game definitely shows its age, but for me, the gameplay is fun enough to justify grabbing it on sale. It has provided me with several hours of princess drama, problem solving, and unexpected assassination attempts. I gravitate toward playing it between more stressful games as a way to chill for a bit before getting back into action. TLDR: If you're a fan of strategy, visual novels, and some choices so hard you'll need to search up a guide on how to save the princess (or destroy her enemies most effectively)... This game is for you.

EDIT - UPDATE - just played this again for 11 hours straight and forgot just how absolutely perfect it is. Like the Factorio of Visual Novel Choose Your Own Adventure Games. Prior to today it had literally been a DECADE since I last played Long Live The Queen! back when my Steam account was still fairly new. Now it's like I've had an entire decade's worth of growing up radically affecting my worldview of every single decision. How you play video games is how you do everything. This is a $10 CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED GEM. MUST BUY. the rest of this was from yesterday when I had 17.4 hours from back in May 2015. Now I just added another 11 hours today just over 10+ years later. Last played this literally a DECADE AGO. May 12, 2015. I think it’s time for another run through because I put in 17 hours back in the day and remembered loving it especially optimizing what was I would learn later is a Spreadsheet Simulator element along with the Visual Novel and adjusting stats to unlock different story outcomes etc. REALLY FUN GAME and will run on Potato hardware nice music and quality Anime drawings for still images. I’m gonna give this a replay over the weekend and reconnect to what made it so much fun especially with such low graphics requirements it stills delivered a visually engaging and bright interface as well as the most detailed of trees for dialogue with choices IIRC blanked out because they require varying amount of stats you could choose to spend time training. I think that was the mechanic. I’m surprised to see people calling the Dark Souls of Princess Games. I remember it being very fun and certainly somewhat challenging but I’m a very bad video game player I typically have to set the Difficulty level to Easiest in order to comfortably play a game. Anyway yep I’m definitely replaying this game this weekend. It’s only $10? Yes this is absolutely a Buy for me. Playable on Steam Deck absolutely perfect fit for a handheld too but works great on laptop or desktop. Even Steam Controller I remember using it was so much fun with mouse level precision on a TV. Anyway YES Buy this game and see why a 94% OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE game for a Visual Novel Political Sim Anime Indie game from Hanako Games way back in 2013 is absolutely still worth playing today purely for Fun Factor. It’s honestly worth $20 worth of fun so it’s a steal at $10. Criminally Underrated gem of a game. Also the Community Guides are great and show various Tables for various combinations and and various dialogue routes strategies for boosting various stats and build your character. I distinctly remember the game having a lot of replay value due to this.
