Negative reviews have valid criticism, but fans of the genre will really enjoy this. Compared to a typical fire emblem-style game, this offers a smaller party where each unit has greater depth. The roguelike aspect works in that most characters have different playstyles based on the upgrades they see over a run. Permanent progression starts slow but quickly becomes a massive power boost. I don't personally enjoy this (many do) but you unlock enough additional difficulty settings that the system works. There are rough edges. Some mechanics don't interact as one would expect, confusing mistranslations, some useless abilities/upgrades, and overall jank. (Some of this is already being addressed, or has been improved since I bought the game) Despite that it's just a lot of fun. The game is happy to give you powerful tools and let you abuse them, with many good ideas for upgrades, abilities and enemy mechanics (weak spots on large enemies). Some characters are just incredibly fun to use with the right upgrades (Emil). Devs are planning/implementing good ideas to improve the game in EA. They have also been great about responding to feedback and issues in forums. TLDR: If you like the genre and can overlook some jank this is a lot of fun.

This game is so much fun! Great rogue-like, turn based, strategy game. The devs are looking to fix some of the issues that I noticed like an increased map pool. Building your characters and party different ways is fun and adds replay and some complexity.

good fire emblem-like roguelite. Beginning is a bit rough because there's no way you can win until you have a few upgrades in your pocket so that part sucks, but the combat loop and upgrades are very enjoyable for a tactics game. Does a good job of making your characters feel like they're getting more powerful as the runs go along. Boss battles are insanely hard, but it makes it that much more sweet when you overcome them.

It is a enjoyable game, with different good characters. Only Cons i found is, if you press many times Esc button, the game will remain in black screen and get stuck without sound. The last one, I wish there were more different weapons, classes and abilities but, I really enjoyed.

saw this game at the summer games fest and i have to say this has been a blast to play all the runs feel unique and the gameplay loop is pretty great. the demo they have is pretty good so defintely try it, one thing i want to see is a bit more detail on character models or maybe a kill system like dawn of war had

Played through this a few times when I got it, looking forward to playing through it a few more times when the story is complete. They are adding more variability to each run and the combat/cast of unique characters/abilities makes this a turn-based game that I will occasionally play time and again (like some of my favorites).

If Fire Emblem Three Houses was a rougelite this is what you would get. Good voice acting with more to come. The game play is solid. I am still unlocking systems, but the depths seems to be solid.
