One goblin’s trash is another goblin’s treasure! Find, fix and clean trash to sell for sweet coin and upgrades.
The Story & Gameplay
You're a young up and coming entrepreneur in the world of salvaging trash and turning into treasures. Uncover, clean and repair trinkets to up-cycle them and sell them to a colourful cast of characters you will meet who frequent your shop. There are no time limits (well the game is divided into days with so many actions per day allotted) but during the day there is no rush. The game does have a nice narrative that runs alongside the gameplay. During the game’s progression you can unlock shop upgrades and decor for your sleeping area and shop. You can also eventually travel to a few new locations to sell your goods that you accumulate and are not tied to quest progression. This is where you make the bulk of your money. Most of the characters you meet in these different locations will ask for items you have in your inventory (think of it as a good way to make coin and clean house). * If you buy the dlc (which is all cosmetic) it will unlock around day 18 as part of the story’s progression when you unlock the customization mode. My only real gripe with this game is I find upgrades to be very expensive, even the cosmetic ones to decorate your shop and sleeping area. I can understand the tool upgrades being more as you scale up to better and better items but the deor could be cheaper to just decorate.
Visuals & Audio
Visually the game has some great hand-made illustrations that are cartoonish and vibrant. I loved all the characters, especially Auntie. The soundtrack is very relaxing and there is some minimal voice work in the form of little grunts or oohs and aah hahs. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3490230188
Settings & Features
Settings & features include; audio controls, subtitle options, rotation speed, resolution, display options, language, chip & cleaning mode, camera speed, edge movement and dlc cursor cosmetic option (dlc required).
Overall Experience
I really enjoy this game, it is wholesome, humorous and relaxing to play. If you like the feel that games like Crime Scene Cleaner or Power Wash Simulator give you when you play, then this game will be right up your alley. The story and all achievements took me about 10 hours to complete. 💗 ✨ You can keep playing beyond the story if you just want to keep finding items, selling, repairing and visiting other locations! Or just work towards unlocking all the cool upgrades and cosmetics. I personally like these kind of cozy game, merchant, pawn shop owner and the stories that comes with it But Trash goblin is missing one important element in ever game, purpose and opposition in the game loop. the cleaning element is a good start as a time sink because no one wants a dirty item and they sell for less. but the chiseling is pointless, you will get unlimited mysterious bag after finishing the previous item, but you only get one and is forced to chisels it to find what is inside till you get the next one. you can somewhat make out what item it is when you get it but you have no choice to discard it, you are forced to finish the chiseling game to proceed. Since customers want specific item, the chiseling game is equivalent of a forced spam left click till you get the right item. There is no multiple mysterious bag with slightly different weight or size to choose from or a bucket of trash for the goblin to rummage through to pick up different mysterious bags, this is no player choice even for cozy game. Plus the chiseling game is pointless, there is on negative effect of any kind for spamming left click or repeatedly hitting the buried item, thus this is the equivalent of a "force" lock pick mini game with infinite lock picks and time, no one like this. I would suggest since there is no true time limit (this part I love, all cozy game should have this feature) make that if we hit the buried item too many time we break it or break part of it. this would be good feature since the best part of trash goblin is the upscale tool, make your creativity go wild and make funny items. plus if you are really lazy this could be a way of discarding mysterious bag or unwanted items. Another thing, since you have infinite mysterious bag and time there is no point of making a haggle system (deal or no deal option). Trash goblin is the same as zero cost business, meaning any thing you sell will only make profit, there is no point of a haggle system that way since there is no point of making big gold in short amount of time. If you want to have one, make it meaning full and have a purpose like it impact reputation or other stuff. lastly this could be just my systems problem, but if you use a finger as a the mouse icon make sure the click point is precisely on the edge of the icon not on the finger tip, plus the "click" icon will shift just slightly to cause constant mis-click I was stuck at the menu for 5-10 min just because i keep mis-clicking stuff. Since I am writing this review with around 1-2 hrs of play time, Most of my complains of missing features maybe will show up later in the game, but if so the devs need adjust the progression system, because with my current play time i have already decided to not invest my time into this game anymore, if there is a good feature """"DO NOT"""" leave it at the end, most players will only play 1-2hr to decide should i refund or put it in the infinite growing back log of game they have. I really love the up scaling tool it is so fun, but i hate the chisel the stories maybe good, but i was already exhausted before i can experience it.

Gameplay loop is okay at first. Didn't really care to continue though. The chipping and washing didn't keep me entertained, and none of the characters interested me enough to grind for tidbits of story. Someone else said "mundane", I think that might be the perfect way to describe the game from what I played.

The game starts pretty well, cleaning and gathering different parts of items is fun in the beginning, but it becomes unbelievably mundane and almost infuriating in the middle and end of the story. Although I 100% this game, I really wouldn't recommend it.

This game is a really nice lighthearted look at what it'd be like running a fantasy second-hand shop. There's some great upgrades like customisation, shelving and tools plus certain customers require multiple items to be joined together via "upcycling". There are also storylines with each of your "regulars" or customers who give you more than one task. These are really nice and wholesome, while also having a good bit of cheek and humour. Overall, my only gripe is that while you can use WSAD to rotate a work piece, they don't work for navigating your shop. This is just a drop in the bucket though.

came back to play and my whole saved file was gone.. *edit* Thanks for showing me how to fix it, but honestly i'm not doing all that. I can't find what files that are mentioned. its a cute little game, but it should just work when i install it, i shouldn't have to dig around in files and stuff to fix it. It should just already just work and that includes my save files.

This is a lovely little game. The art is cute and the characters are unique and quirky, each with their own arcs that supplement the main story line. The upscale mechanic allows you to glue items together, so you can either collect pieces of trinkets to form complete sets (e.g. glue a hilt to a blade and then a pommel to that hilt), or mash things together at random and create a pile of unique junk. The gameplay is simple and doesn't require any attention at all, so it's perfect for chilling with a podcast or some music.

A [mediocre] cozy game. It has a very interesting concept, a lot of cool mechanics, customization for the workspace that provides QOL, all of it keeps up the overall interest in earning money. However, the core mechanics are, honestly, simply boring and repetitive. It does have some automation, but not enough. On the good side. The workspace is neat, you manage space, upgrade it for QOL, add a bit of automation, unlock features, and even customize it. Making money from piecing trash together into a nice or absolutely hideous item is a great concept. The major issue is chiseling, the core of the gameplay, and it's the same simplistic, repetitive "block-game". Upgrades sped up the process, but it is still tedious. Perhaps splitting them in tiers, as you uncover more and more items from that tier, you'd get a few of them per day without having to chisel. Honestly, I have no idea how to improve it. This is just the biggest reason for getting bored with the game. For instance, the cleaning is also repetitive, yet you are at least cleaning the item, not generic blocks. The other personal negative is a constant and overwhelming amount of yapping dialogue from special NPC requests. It's just too much. All I want is to work on trash, make it nice, sell it, maybe go for special requests. But the game felt like a barrage of "special" requests. There was also a minor pacing issue; the tool upgrades came in too late, and the first hour felt awkward.

I wanted to like this game... I even did like it... not just liked, I loved it... until after 2 hours of playing.. I shut it down, booted up the next day..... and ALL of my items (Had to store a ton on the table) were re-dirtied... ..... sooo much time... and there's not even upgrades to enhance the speed.... so... I don't think I'll play it again, unless this is ever fixed.

This game is interesting, but I don't think it has enough unique content to warrant the $20 price tag. This game has a nice art style and a unique story, but you spend the majority of the game repeating the same 2 motions over and over again.

It's.... not bad. If I could get a neutral rating on here I would, but it's a good concept and my issues could potentially be adressed, so thumbs up. On one hand you do get what you see and that's the problem. The gameplay loop is kind've shallow, and the shopkeeping mechanics are, in my eyes, kind've poorly implemented. People will come by, ask for something, you can either put it off or try to dig it out of a sack. Some trinkets are specifically for upcycling (attaching to other trinkets), like doll arms and so on. I usually skip these, and frankly an absurd amount of people show up asking for a doll arm or a pen nib, or other random little bits and bobs and it feels frustrating to constantly turn down customers because they're obsessed with buying a specific part of something (often something nonsensical). Later on you get access to a wagon whcih lets you go into town and sell your stuff but this doesn't change the selling mechanics, just speeds them up, which honestly makes selling at home even weirder. I would love a way to put restrictions on what people were allowed to buy because it just feels strange to me to be handing out two or three doll arms consecutively. I want to upcycle! Why are so many people buying doll arms. How weird. As for the gameplay as I said it's what you see. The chisel bits could use a bit of work I think, the part I enjoy out of them is knocking off a big chunk by breaking off the connected bits and you honestly barely get to do that. Washing is a fine little repetitive chill task, upcycling is literally just attaching. It's not bad, but after a while hammering away at full layers of dirt because it's impossible to break off larger pieces gets a little old, and that's the crux of the issue with the game, more then other little cozy "chore games" it feels a lot more like you're just clicking on stuff rather then actually doing a thing, and the shopkeeping doesn't really back it up. That said, it's still not Bad, I just don't think it lasts as long as it needs to given the genre. And to be fair I wasn't the biggest fan to begin with, so someone that likes the concept a bit more might end up adoring it. Edit: As I've played more I've realized the upgrades, particularly the front desk ones, add functionality to the shop. Largely I think these are still hampered by the fact that if you wait to make a full trinket set you'll never make any money and slow the game down by a huge amount, but it's nice to see some additional functionality. I've also ended up playing it much more then I expected, so!

This game has so much promise that I'd enjoy, but it keeps bugging out. I can't put away items. I can't wash items. I have only played an hour and had to reboot 3 different times. Which makes me sad cause I think I'd like this game otherwise.

This is an easy going cute game. I've been having a hard week and this game gave the simple distraction my brain needed. Besides cute and cozy, part of the appeal for me was no farming. I love many a game that has it, but I've been ready for one that totally didn't. There are no deadlines. You can send the named customers away and call them back when there order is ready. Sending customers who are strangers way is basically telling them you don't have that item and there are no negative consequences. The main story line is interesting and getting to know some of the customers a bit is fun. Not having a way to save in a game always bothers me, but once you get through the tutorial, it saves a lot and any time you log out. The tutorial is really just beginning game play and takes a few in game days. I think it ends after learning about the upgrade tool. It will announce itself at the end of the tutorial but until then you might not realize you are still in it. Thanks for the needed distraction Trash Goblin.

i absolutely LOVED this game. now I'm hesitant to even keep going. i spent 19.5 hours playing. dedicated my time to my play style, upgrading my tools, decorating my workshop and collecting my trinkets. as soon as the update came out i was excited but was nervous that with the updated story line, i would be forced to restart and i was right! all that work i put in for nothing just to have to click through the tutorial AGAIN! after the first customer i served i left the game to see if it saved, just to find out it doesn't save the same way it did in the early access. all of a sudden if you don't finish your day you lose all the work you did that day? it feels like a joke that didn't make me laugh. overall its a cute game and satisfying to play but with all the work it takes to do anything, to lose your saves so easily, it just does not feel worth it. as a mom i found it wonderful that i could leave the game after any task and not worry as it was saved. now its out of early access and that's no longer the case. VERY disappointing. I would normally recommend this game but all the things that are currently not the same as originally played through, i would not recommend to the same group i would have before. its no longer a relaxing play as you go game as you're now being forced to finish a days worth of work before it allows a save and i find that extremely inconvenient. there is no way to save except the auto save at the end of each day. what happened to the old save method where it would auto save after each task? the fact that you took out a good auto save and didn't even implement a manual save button for us as users is SO LAME! lets get another update to fix that save situation or let us get our early access save slot back (highly unlikely) before i consider recommending or even playing again. it was wonderful for the game developers to respond directly to my review and so quickly was nice. however, the holes I'm expected to jump through in order to find something as simple as a single save, still doesn't feel worth it to me. i did take the time (the best i could as I'm not tech savvy) to try to do as directed through the provided "How to access Early Access save files post launch" and was still unable to locate the folder so i had my husband step in to follow the steps to try to locate said file. he tried multiple different steps including following the ones provided and was still unable to locate any previous save files or the ones they specifically mentioned in the recovery directions. I'm not sure how to proceed at this point, but I'm not about to go out of my way to join their discord to try to figure it out as that's the only other option they gave me. I'm just going to wait for a new update and hope they fix the save issue as I'm not one to invest my time in a game if it brings me through so many hoops just to play it how its meant to be played.

I'm so sorry, I truly love this game, I had not a single problem with it, unitl today, after the update I wanted to play this game, I had so many things, I loved my shop, it was all pink colored, I had a bunch of trinkets, I had built friendship with my customers and all, my tools upgrated and then I open the game today to find out... my entire game as been erased! ALL GONE! I'm sorry but that was so frustrating, I can't recomend a game that just deletes your entire process just because!

Get the demo before you buy it. Bug: The person who gives you the trinket fixer that allows you to connect items together immediately reappears repeating the same quest just after I did it. I assume this is an actual bug because the trinket repair item is a basic tool needed to do basic functions in game. Also the transitions are overwhelmingly slow, like going to sleep should not make me want to alt-tab and play a different game while waiting. Honestly I would give it a negative review, but I get cozy games might not be my thing. - as far as cozy goes, I liked how Stardew Valley had an energy system to prevent you from playing one day for marathon sessions. - it would take like 2 weeks to do a load of dishes using a sponge based on how few actions this goblin can do in a day. - does the initial "talking portion" have to have so much bloated text? It is like 3 paragraphs of information and I feel like I have to spam click for 5 minutes to get past it. - seriously I do not understand why modern games have to block any form of player agency by, and even the basic gameplay, with a relentless barrage of meaningless text ordering you to do each and every single step of what should be a process of discovery and exploration. I can't "explore" the living environments because this insane woman is ordering me to: "turn around and look at your bed." "this bed is where you sleep" "turn around and look at me" "this bell makes it so you can talk to me" "this bell no longer summons me" "I just appear when I want to now" "come over to this window now and talk to me" "this window is where you---" I GET IT What is wrong with the writer that they thought this would be a good idea? Seriously do a beta test with a few community playtesters and get some basic feedback. It honestly makes me wonder if this game was originally in a different language and they just translated it to English. Also lastly, the gameplay is the same as every other "simulator" game these days, one example is Schedule 1. This game has a lot less interesting simulated work actions, and also with its lack of being able to discover how these things are done it makes for a very simple "mobile" level of complexity casual game. The only thing that required figuring out, before I hit the 2 hour window where I refunded, was the purple geode looking bits you hit with a chisel to break. Example of a better introduction: "Hey assistant goblin person, can you figure out if anything valuable is inside of this chunck of stuff? "Wow, something valuable was inside it, he how about I pay you to clean up these items and find new ones." That way the player can actually pretend they are doing something instead of being treated like a machine and being given step-by-step instructions by a text prompt to do each and every action with literally 0 cognitive abilities required to do so. Honesty people call it cozy, but it feels like brain rot.

Saw this game on sale for the steam summer sale and was instantly curious by its cute artstyle. Now 80 (in game) days in I can happy saw this game is sooooo fun. I got this game before it was fully released and at that time I was already hooked on it. It's very cute and cozy. You can take your time on this game and I love that. There are small bugs here and there, but that isn't a huge impact. The story was short and sweet and I just hope more gets added as time goes on! I recommend this game if you are a cozy gamer. The art, music and the decoration system is simple and very nice. Thanks so much for such a nice game!

Trash Goblin is a fun, relaxing, no stakes cleaning, fixing and selling management game. It quickly sucks you in with it's charming art style, fun and unique customers and a wide range of items. Pros

Easy and Adaptable mechanics - you decided if cleaning, chipping etc. should be done when clicking or holding down the button or when hovering over the time
Fun & Unique Customers, all that come with requests that reflect their personality
The story elements are happen with 0 pressure and easily fit into the characters everyday task
The tutorial is simple, quick and doesn't drag out.
You have a lot of freedom to random items and sell them
Cons

The quest mechanic only offers a simple summary of what needs to be done, more complex orders where you need multiple items aren't shown - meaning you have to ask the customer to return to the shop to see if you have everything needed - this is at time frustrating as sometimes customers don't come till the next day.
If you are looking for a new fun and relaxing game to play, then I do highly recommend checking out the game :D!

So far what I have experienced has been good. The game has an auto save feature and I accidentally shut off my PC halfway through a day and it loaded me back in to the exact time I quit, which is really nice. The game itself is basically just a clicking game, no keyboard required, but also has accessibility features so you can hover or hold down the left mouse button to make clicking less cumbersome, especially after 30 minutes my fingers were getting a bit sore and I changed to hover. I feared by clicking too much in one spot I would end up breaking the items, but no such system is in place. I believe the chiseled items cannot be broken, but possibly they get lost while piling up tons of clutter? As the game progresses I end up with more items I am fearful to sell in my passive overnight selling box, so I just end up hoarding everything. My personal worst nightmare, but I somehow make do. I definitely recommend this game, it's cozy and chill and doesn't require you to finish the day to save, making it the perfect choice for a quick couple minutes of play time or a full day's worth of chiseling and cleaning.

I fell in love with this simple gameplay loop of chipping away blocks, cleaning trinkets and then upcycling into monstrosities, or just selling them as is. 100% completion took me about 15-20 hours, and you earn most of them while you're playing through the story. It's simple, it makes my brain happy and the characters are charming as hell. Donoval is too precious for this world. If cozy games are your jam, highly recommend this one! Pupper approved.

A lot of games get described as "cosy" or "wholesome" these days, but Trash Goblin is better described as "charming". It just is! The mechanics of cleaning up rubbish and selling it? Charming. The NPCs? Charming. Botching things together to make new things? Charming. The only real downside is there's not more of it, but then, if it were bigger and made by a bigger studio then perhaps some of that charm would be lost.

(From my Steam family member Seacucumbo, who has 60 hrs in the game but can't review it because it's in my library:) FIRST OF ALL I LOVE THIS GAME BUT I DO HAVE A SUGGESTION- Add more connectable points to the upcycler and remove the limit to what KIND of object can be connected where. I have really gotten into this and blown through most of the content because i'm a psycho but I am spending all my free time trying out making new things or things I think are pretty. I keep all my favorite creations up next to my bed. ONE MORE SUGGESTION maybe offer an ability to fix the rips in the wallpaper because it makes me not want to use the pretty ones.

It's quite okay in terms of story, game mechanics / gameplay loop and length (which is a bit variable, you can rush the story a bit, but my advice is to take a bit of time enjoying the mechanics). Art style is cool and neat, lots of variability in the NPCs. Sort of wish there was a bit more variability and immediate goals beyond filling out the trashpedia in the post-story end game content.

This game is fun, and SO funny! I am pretty sure there were cameras into my life when they made Aunty, so I am looking into that, but I can't recommend this enough. creative and relaxing with a great story.

Hello everynyan! I truly love this game to bits!! I played during early access and fell in love with being a silly little creature -- finally I could be the (Trash) Goblin I've always known I was. Tbh I was sad when I lost my early access saved game once v1.0 came out but I was also super excited to find that there were now achievements, story lines to fulfill, and an amazing cast of characters to interact with!! <3 <3 <3 I love chiseling away through the dirt and rock to unearth and clean trinkets!! This game is honestly soooo satisfying for me to play as it scratches that loot goblin itch. I hope the developers will eventually add more stories, quests, and achievements, but I will probably be coming back to this game regularly even though I have earned all current achievements and objectives so far. <3 To the developers -- THANK YOU for making this game, it will always be one of my favorites and I look forward to any and all future updates! <3

This game is an absolute gem. Very relaxing and requires little focus. The customer stories are fun and cute. My one feature wish is for more descriptive reminders for the quest items, sometimes I forget what pieces they want when it's not a straightforward complete item.
