I’ve been a fan of monster Tamers since I was 8 and first played Pokemon Blue version. I’ve played almost all of them from monster sanctuary and anode heart, to monster hunter stories 2 and Digimon world. Without any doubt in my heart, beastieball is the single best game in the genre. It’s funny, charming, unique in its style and ui, with top tier designs for the beasties. The gameplay is perfect. I literally have nothing to suggest or criticize, it’s just that good. If you like the genre, you must get this game.

Fun, easy to learn, cute art, and grinding is made pleasant by having a cool map to explore. 5/5 (character design 6/5)

Game freak WISH they made games this good. Ive never felt more attached to a monster tamer team, they all have so much personality. The only down-side is that the sprites aren't finished, and you get a little whiplash from the animated beasties and the ones that aren't. But that bad part is temporary, I cannot wait to replay this when its fully done.

One of the best monster catching games I've ever played. It's been a long time since a game has gotten me attached to my team. The game really goes out of its way to give them each a personality, and it's really cute and fun. Mechanically, this game managed to do something no other monster catching game has for me. Make battles fun. The battles themselves are engaging, complex, and enjoyable. Positioning being a factor adds a whole other level to the strategy, and I never found myself bored. On top of that, the story is fun and interesting, if a bit simple. (Also, trans rep doesn't hurt)

It's a lot of fun. Is a fully complete game despite being in Early Access, just missing polish. Monster design is pretty good and combat system is super cool.

excellent monster collection game. Very addictive game play. Not the typical RPG style - but rather a volleyball game play that is very fun to play. Highly recommend that you give this a try.

Love this game! Its really cool that you can view the concept art in the 'Beastiepedia' - looking forward to more updates that completes the sprites (although it is kinda funny to see a scribbly lil guy next the finished animated ones) Keep up the good work Devs!

Do you like Creature Collecting? Deceptively simple turn based games that are easy to learn, yet have tons of combos and a lot of depth? How about volleyball? Yeah, me neither. But that's okay. Because you'll probably still love this game anyway. It's cute. It's cozy. It's easy to learn, and it's going to be crazy to difficult to actually master. It's cliche to say a thing is more than the sum of its parts, but...this is literally the case with Beastieball. This game managed to take 3 things I don't even particularly like and turn them into a sum total of something I absolutely ADORE! I highly recommend giving the demo a chance - you can even continue on from it into the game, using the same save, if you do enjoy it!

As someone with an obsession over creature collecting games, especially ones that have the turn based RPG element, this game is PEAK. This has replaced my obsession with Pokemon and the only reason that may change back is because I do not know how likely it is we will see more creatures from this franchise. But I certainly hope we do.

This game is incredible. The gameplay is tight and amazingly well designed, the beasties are all fun to play with and do so much. The Devs are actively fostering a competitive scene and although there are minor things I have complaints with, when this game comes out it will be my game of the Year.

Masterpiece. Beach volleyball + turn-based monster taming is a genius idea that feels fresh and fun. Great quality of life features and the synergy between skills, combos, and friendships make each battle feel meaningful. Can’t wait to see the full version!

Beastieball is the unique mix of monster taming and volleyball. It's a creative best match! A Pokemon-like volleyball game, and plus... I love it!

Incredibly charming and well written! Easy to engage with, and has an fascinating amount of depth. It has a lot of the joy of other creature-collecting games, but the volleyball angle emphasises move synergies over raw stats.

Already 100% (or as much as I could in EA) a while ago, but forgot to do my actual review for the game. Very good, and if it does mean anything, quite a bit better than Pokemon. It feels refreshing to have a good creature-collecter with heart and soul mixed in, and honestly? I'm terrified for when the other regions get added. I will simply perish to everything. Still pheonimal game though!

TLDR: not played for long but this is one of the best creature battle games I've played, at least top 5, maybe top 3. The strategy and battle mechanics even early on are much better than pokemon (especially the passive abilities feel much more impactful). I love the art style, the critters are all so cute. I actually like that there is no elemental system for once, instead each attack is one of three types and each critter has an attack and defense stat for the 3 types (like pokemon's physical/special split, but there are 3). Most games i see put too few types so its just a bad rock paper scissors. I haven't found any bugs or anything, but there are a few balance issues. Because enemies with 0 stamina stay on the field, when you serve the opponent is required to spend their action at the start to swap, and knowing exactly what they are gonna do can make it a little too easy. Giving a free swap between serves for the critter that got knocked out, or have the option to swap position of the active critters instead of swapping with the bench would solve it, but those might cause their own issues, something that would need to be play tested. i know that was a lot of words, but overall its a pretty minor thing, just gives you a free point sometimes. The couple other issues I've seen are too minor to bother mentioning here.

Beastieball is easily one of my favorite games I've ever played. From start to finish, I was completely hooked. The art is gorgeous, the gameplay is clever and addictive, and the soundtrack is just absolute bangers. If you’re even remotely interested in RPGs, tactics, or just beautifully made games, play Beastieball. You won’t regret it.

It's everything I ever wanted in a creature collecting game. Bright and colorful characters, adorable creatures full of life and personality, a lovely merge of 2-d character design and 3-d overworld layout. Really fun battle system, and a fresh take on a genre of games that I hold very dear to my heart. A game for nerds AND jocks!

This game is just better than Pokemon. The battling is really refreshing and interesting compared to Pokemon, the story is a lot more interesting, and it was actually difficult. Having difficulty settings at the start, including options for challenge runs, was really cool to see, and overall I think this game accomplishes a lot of what many fans of Pokemon have found lacking in those games.

The game contains many of the classic creature collector mechanics that you would expect. However there are a few changes seemingly made to be different that I find highly frustrating. hp gain is not part of leveling up so even when you are very over-leveled you can still get 1 shot or stuck in a loop trying to out heal a much weaker team as they pound your characters for nears 100% dmg. Quite often you get status effects for seemingly no reason, your creatures get moody and these are often terrible. Stacking damage per turn for using your creature, unable to use any abilities, etc Most trainer or boss battles feel super unfair. They will have creatures that remove your ability to select who to attack, block all of your ability use, stack buffs, debuffs, etc all while they hit you for near 100%. Do you actually want to win, then just figure out ahead of time what their attack stat is and field 2 creatures with high def of that, then instead of hitting you for 90 you get hit for 15 and its a breeze. leveling up feels unimpactful, combos feel useless since you cant even use them most of the time. Its just a matter of hoping you can match your def vs their attack so you can slow grind them down over and over.

this game is very cool and silly i love it my only problem is that some beasties are clearly supposed to be one gender and i have the starter axolatol guy it looks cute just a little ball but then it turns into this weird teenage human thing i almost quit because i hated what it looked like no wonder why there are no gender for beastie how do they even reproduce?

Such a great game. I don't play many games (let alone creature collectors) where I care for the story or characters, but beastieball is one of the few to make me care deeply about both. The combat system is one of the best I've seen, made better by the amazing soundtrack playing in the background. Unlike other games within the genre, grinding is kept to a minimum, and each beastie feels unique and distinct from one another. Please don't be deterred by the fact it's in early access. This game is already worth much more than the $25 price tag.

TL;DR: really nice game an an especially amazing creature collector. Overall, a really fun experience. They made the beasties really interactive and alive, it's really easy to get attached to them. I really really like how they act. The characters are nice too, each got their own personality and charm. Of course the beastie designs are good too, they're really cute. The volleyball gameplay is fun, mainly due to how the points system/ win conditions are like, there's a lot more than just whack them till they're downed, this is the most strategic thinking I've done in all creature collectors lol. Although it does get a bit repetitive near the end, once ur strong enough to just press the same skills and brute force it. Something that might turn people away as of writing this is probably the fact that the game is still incomplete. There's multiple sprits that's still in the sketching phase and there's also a lack of idle animations for the beasties. I myself didn't really have any issues with that, would still recommend the game :P

bought the game because i saw lena raine made the ost and i loved the demo i dont think i can ever play a pokemon game again after the amazing quality of this game... very fun and actually requires a lot of strategy with basically zero rng involved and even if you're underleveled by a good 5-10 levels, you can still win pretty handily if you just play smart. plus games worth it in early access, its pretty much complete just aside from missing animations for creatures and some areas that are still wip but arent story relevant. also i got way too attached to my team. falink, austin, charlie, kaard, and shelly r the goats

I usually avoid early access games because they are usually messy and you'd lose your save file at launch, but this game is just so charming and fun that i had to get it. So Beastieball has 106 beasties that all are unique and charming. Also the general mechanics and worldbuilding makes the beasties feel more like friends you play sports with, which is a lot more nice and cozy compared to other games (which i love) like Pokemon. You don't make your little friends beat each other up until they're unconcious, they just play sports and have fun! Also the beasties feel a lot more like individuals, they create bonds with each other through time (they can be rivals, besties, partners, or sweethearts, each with gameplay effects), and because the way you learn moves the beastie don't normally learn isn't by breeding, but you get them in a team with another beastie that can do the move, like they learn from each other! Also there's not much grinding for stats (no breeding for IV's for my fellow pokemon players). All of this without compromising on the strategy aspect, which is very deep and varied. With 106 beasties, each with different abilities and movesets that you can customize, there's a huge selection of strategies. There are also community events if you are into that, but as someone who mainly plays single player, it has enough content to sink your teeth into without forcing you into multiplayer. Truly my favorite creature collector type game and it's not even fully out yet!

Absolutely love this game. Found it through TrueGreen7's collab video with the creator, and bought it right after. The little Beasties are too cute, the game play is great, and I am loving the story so far. I can't wait to see what else they do/add to this!
