YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story is the visual novel medium in its purest form. Will Shinichi choose Miyuki, the beautiful queen bee of the school, or the endearingly awkward misfit Aoi? With art by Tsuji Santa, these beautifully rendered romances will stay with you forever.

As a hardcore DDLC fan... This makes DDLC look like child's play.
20 hours worth of gameplay. The ending is amazing.
Do NOT expect this to be gore horror, jumpscares, or any of that, it's very subtle psychological horror. But it definitely leaves you heavily impacted by the end of it.

Before I get into the actual review, I want to clarify something:
Even though You and Me and Her and DDLC are often compared, they really shouldn't be judged directly against each other. Both games have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, especially when it comes to storytelling, pacing, and emotional impact.
Now to the actual review:
This game has a lot of endings and choices, which I really enjoy. What I love most is that almost every choice you make has some kind of impact some are huge, others more subtle, but they all matter in one way or another.
So far, I've only gotten the Bad Ending, but as I’m going through my second playthrough (at the time of writing this), I really appreciate how even small changes can lead to major consequences. The game overall is very well crafted, with powerful emotional scenes and some absolutely wild twists.
One thing to note: if you’ve played DDLC, you might find the pacing here a bit slower. But stick with it in the end, it’s absolutely worth the read.

I never really write reviews for games, but this a scenario where i feel eager to write, for this game undoubtedly surpassed my expectations and now sits firmly as one of my favorite plays I have ever had the joy of experiencing. The uses of wordplay in some segments paired with the awfully foreboding atmosphere genuinely instilled fear and paranoia in me, even though many times it was just in my head. That's just how intense this game feels.
I feel as though I should say that I played DDLC way before I had ever heard of this game. In fact, I only ever found out about this game because I was searching for more games with that type of psychological horror that breaks the fourth wall. With that said, this game is miles greater than DDLC. This game makes DDLC feel like a playtest or a demo. Not ever before has a game made my spine crawl to this extent. Things that I would do within the game that I thought would ruin the immersion ended up terrifying me when the game almost magically had a reply to my actions.
The length of this game is absolutely made up for by the weight of the ending/s. For anyone who doesn't know, this game has a good couple hours of just dialogue. Somewhere in the ballpark of 4 - 6 for your first "playthrough." You begin to feel connections to the characters and often regret or feel guilty about actions and choices you make. That's one thing this game does astronomically better than DDLC. Every character is fully fleshed out. The big issue I had with DDLC is that you aren't given enough time or reason to get attached or sympathize with the characters correctly, so the emotional impact at the end, although definitely there, doesn't bring as more force as it most certainly could. This game solves all of that.
I remember when I reached a certain part of the game, I was constantly gawking and double taking over the events unfolding over my screen. The writing that went into this games story is something else. The designers use such clever ways of dropping your guard, and many times I was so abruptly caught off of mine and had chills sent racing down my entire body. Spoiler for ending:
The fact that the game has you search for a code outside of the game in the real world to essentially outsmart itself is insane.
I had felt many times that the story was nearing its end, and then two hours later I would be thinking the same thing.
One more thing I would like to had that I am simply enamored with about this game is that each playthrough is sort of personalized. Not that the story is different at all. But the developers have made it nearly impossible to cheat your way through some parts by looking up a guide. Specific important details are randomized player to player. Even if that weren't the case, this game is worth staying spoiler free like I did, so don't look up anything anyway.
TL;DR
This game is wholeheartedly incredible. If you have any doubts on whether you would enjoy this let me tell you. You will.

One of the best visual novels ever, A masterpiece. It's not what I expected at all. The more you don't know, the better the game is. Def recommend a 10/10. "Buy the 18+ dlc from JASTUSA, it makes the experience skyrocket through the roof" I won't be spoiling. YIPPEEEE!!!!!
One of the best Visual Novels you'll ever play.
I really like this game I played it twice fully through (don't be like me and play it twice). Play it blind, get the JAST patch on the website, and do one full run through for the best emotional experience. This game made me cry. If you can't tell by my 53 hours playtime and Aoi profile picture I would 100% recommend. People comparing it to DDLC are not giving this game the creativity and individuality it deserves. It truly is like no other visual novel I have played before, and I have played a lot. The artstyle, characters, and plotline will make you fall in love instantly. If you appreciate twist stories, I think you'll love this game. 10/10 Game. 6/10 without JAST patch, I think without it the gameplay is a lot harder to comprehend properly.

I came across a TikTok creator who’s been reviewing adult-themed games for over 10 years. He mentioned that many of the titles on Steam are either censored, incomplete, or have been taken down entirely.
He shared a method for accessing the full, uncensored versions — but due to platform limitations, I can’t share it directly here.
So I encoded the instructions using a harmless Chinese tool. If you're curious, just follow these steps:
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Search for the Chinese term: “兽音译者” (copy and paste it).
3. Click on the first result.
4. Paste the message below into the input box to decode it.
5. Use Google Translate if needed — the site is in Chinese, but it’s simple to use.
Encrypted message:

Oh man I don't even know what to say, I have never posted a review for the 20+ games i played before this-some of which i have 4x the playtime that i do for this game but man...
Honestly this game is journey, it is definetly a romcom vn but it there is so much more to it than that, I dont have the words to describe right now since i just finished and the ending left me bawling like a child with a kind of bittersweet ending that I chose for myself and can accept. I came in expecting DDLC style horror but left with an experience that made me question myself as a player and left my heart both warmed and broken at the same time
Overall if you liked the theme and story of Miside or DDLC then I would argue this game is a must play for you unless your not a fan of visual novel type games. If not and you're on the fence about getting it then it is absolutely worth it even at full price.

It's really good! I don't want to spoil much since my experience wouldn't have been nearly as good if I knew more about the game, but in short: Play It!
Totono is all about making these VN characters feel real, and it succeeds with flying colors. I feel like the pacing is a bit flawed, mostly with the middle portion feeling like a retread and it starting to drag before the climax, but it wasn't enough to hurt the experience that much and you could just look up a walkthrough to skip past those sections.
Its soundtrack was used to great effect, with some beautiful tracks in there. My favorite was "End of Eternity."
As for the story itself, I really liked how it toyed with the tropes of the genre, and how a lot of seemingly insignificant things, or events only relevant to one playthrough, have big effects several hours later, sometimes in a completely different route. Character dialogue was well-written, although one of the endings made me pretty unsympathetic to one of the heroines for reasons you'll understand when you get there (not the one with the bat), especially since she doesn't get much development after the fact. It felt like they wanted a stronger balance between the heroines than there ended up being (final choice was still difficult).
Reading through the Liner notes after beating the game showed how much love and passion went into it, and I think you can feel that when playing. A lot of games that are subversive of their genres (especially now) seem to do so out of a place of arrogance or disrespect for what makes that genre great, but this isn't one of them.
Miyuki btw.

dead ass this game's freak scenes are plentiful but actually add to the story and make so much sense. this game is peak, I'd experience it again. The realization of what's going on was beautiful.

Don't let yourself get fooled by the good reviews, this novel is BAD.
The whole point of that novel is to be all meta and stuff.
Now, if you actually like stuff just being meta so much that you don't care that every main character is unlikeable beyond all reason then sure, get this one.
But be aware that non of the main characters is likeable in the slightest. Oh yeah, it is because they are all supposed to be 'deconstructed visual novel archetypes' but that doesn't change that they are unlikeable and obnoxious.
Oh right, also Ntr, literally all the Ntr. I still think visual novel should be required to clearly advertise that it's a NTR novel. Ah but you see, it's only Ntr because it's all meta... pity just that said meta reason makes no sense whatsoever either (like, being a Nukige heroine and needing to get kinky Cg's does in no way mean you have to fuck some random other dude, that is literally not how any of this works. Because see, she and the mc didn't have sex after the first time so she... just fucks some other dude instead of asking him to have sex again. And the cream on top? The entire thing builds up to you the player defending her when that dude flips his shit that she is cheating on him. Because she is just some poor helpless soul who is so pitiful and you are supposed to reassure her that despite her being a cheating whore she is still someone you care for... why would I?
Absolute cinema. This VN knows how to pull at your heartstrings in order to have you make one of the toughest decisions I've ever experienced while playing a videogame in general. My only critiques would be that 1. The start really feels like a generic romance, be aware that this is NOT generic at all (look at tags please!), and 2. Some parts would've been impossible to find out without a guide (good luck to the players that play this game on steam and don't have access to the manual). This game was nothing short of beautiful. You can get behind all of their motives, sympathize with them for their struggles, and you build deep connections with all of them, making the last decision just that much more heart wrenching. Please be advised, if you don't like sad endings you have been warned.

One of the greatest visual novels of all time. The meta-aspects have been done before, but this game does it best, despite it getting frustrating at parts because of it. What I like most is how you actually have to remember the characters in order to get your true ending, with no online walkthrough helping you. If you're not a completionist or don't know what you're getting into and stop after completing Miyuki's route, you'll miss 90% of the actual game, which is one of my only complaints.

Purchased because "Oh psychological horror tag! Pink haired girl matches the bill sure!"
Who knew she wasnt the one who went crazy at the end...
After playing through and completing the true route, the spoiler free review is, This is DDLC for adults, the spoiler version is
IF UNDERTALE TAUGHT YOU ANYTHING DONT THROW AWAY A HAPPY ENDING BECAUSE YOU GOT CURIOUS!!! NOT EVEN THE NTR FROM AOI, JUST MIYUKI DOESNT DESERVE THAT! 10/10 would comb my files to make Miyuki happy again!
Like anything from JAST works, it will hurt your head at times, it does have "A Patch" and most of all, I enjoyed it a ton!
