I played the original version, not this. Don't bother playing it, it's a sadistic plot that only serves to lead you toward good things and then take them away from you over and over and over and over. There is no happy ending, and everything is fleeting. Writing like this isn't fun to read and you won't gain anything from the experience. Unless you WANT to be emotionally distraught for no reason. A particular gripe I have is what they did to Kanna's character for literally no reason, it was completely unneeded and only ruined her. Oh you like this mysterious girl that spread a rumour to keep people away from her?
Nah turns out she's just a crazy nymphomaniac for basically no reason at all, just "oh im sad and alone, guess ill fuck old men for money every night instead of getting a part time job. Or attempting to make friends. "
That was actually so stupid and made me not sympathize with her at all. She deserves the miserable life she CHOSE to live. Overall it was an amazing game with an amazing amount of flaws and questionable story choices. I'm more neutral about the experience but am leaning towards the negative end.

Yu-No is an interesting visual novel/point and click hybrid from the olden days. It's something of a relic of its time and follows themes most visual novels tend away from outside of fetish stuff. Whether this is the best version is a different question. Yu-No itself is something worth experiencing.
