Very fun and unique roguelike. The achievements are not hard to obtain and it was actually a pleasure going for 100%. I got the game because, I liked the graphics, but man... the gameplay is crisp, the music and sound is good and the combos you can make are extremely satisfying to build. Get this game!

okay, this is actually a really good and fun game, you can feel the love from the developers from how much care they put into the art style, making everything look good, even the animations are really satisfying to look at, its an awesome game but there is a huge problem, at least for me, because its sucha good and fun game, its really sad to see not much in it, there are only 3 enemy types, a few characters, only 30 rounds which you can breeze easily and there is barely that many upgrades and content in the game which is kinda heart breaking for how good this game is so please update the game, add more stuff, more stages, more enemies, more upgrades, and please let me choose all of the upgrades together, i kinda feel really limited and held back by the fact i can only go one route of upgrade, i want to have most of them active also please add mod support, i want to be able to play custom content and upgrades and characters cause this game is absolutely fire and fun!

Rats. Immediate 10/10. Short and sweet, the pixel art is absolutely adorable. The cheese was even a little scary :) Wish there were more characters so I could spend more time with this game.

Dull. The arena is so small to make movement pretty much pointless. As such the gameplay loop is pretty much to pick an upgrade, then have your character 'stand and deliver' and just watch until the wave is cleared. And while this doesn't really come into effect until you 'beat' the game at wave 30, in the post-30 waves, enemy health scaling reaches such a high point that you need to rely on knockback and slows to keep them at bay as you slooooooooowly chip away at their ludicrous health bars, not helped as you cease to get upgrades at this point. I literally have the game going on beside me without my input, and my character is keeping them at bay without me doing anything.

TLDR; RATS GO BRRR Great but short game. Scratches the Vampire Survivors itch, good variety of builds and pretty satisfying.

Pros: fun, quick-hop in gameplay with some roguelike scaling. plus is cute rats in space.. Cons: shorter than would like, after going through upgrades late game is closer to a "choose your cards and see how far he goes before dying" as anything past a certain point does'nt leave any room to move for most of the long runs i've gotten to. I would like to see a "unlimited" type gameplay after hitting a certain max/unlock, allowing to just use all the cards in a sort of endless mode type deal. min-maxing certain builds and watching them go type vibes. I'd also like to see more enemies, maybe boss battles? a giant cat with a space helmet would be fun.. overall deff recommend, and was a fun few hours.

Rocket Rats is a fun loop familiar to you already if you've played Vampire Survivors or Desktop Survivors 98. The difference here is that you are confined to a small area, so the selection of your mods is far more important than your dexterity or ability to move. The characters are cute and once you get the hang of it you'll survive every time while watching some crazy builds work.

As a fan of the Survivors-like genre Rocket Rats is a good time; however, when compared to the many other games within the genre it is clearly lacking. That being said I am happy with my purchase. The gameplay is like many others in the genre; it is all about upgrade selection and kiting enemies in a way to avoid damage. This is however where Rocket Rats perhaps falls shortest though because kiting options are limited to the very small circle you have (the moon you are on). What this means is that you will instead immediately try to build yourself so that you are never moving at all, and the game allows for this to happen quite easily. Yes, at the end of runs for other games in the genre that is kind of what happens anyway, but it takes a long time to get there, but not here. In fact, most of the time if I had good luck on my upgrade options and chose well I would not have to move for the entire game from start to finish. One of the reasons it is so easy to get to a point where you can stand still is because all of your upgrades are pretty good all things considered. Some upgrades are better than others, but as long as your brain isn’t smooth or very underdeveloped you will be able to easily put yourself into a scenario where you are not going to be stressing too hard about kiting, especially when you can just get a bunch of meta-progression upgrades to help you power through it all as well. This makes the game far too easy, but the upgrade loop and the gameplay itself are good. In the end, it is not surprising to me looking back after playing it that it only took me 6.2 hours to 100% the game. There isn’t a lot of substance to this game and it is not difficult, but not every game has to be content-dense or hard, it just has to be fun, and Rocket Rats is. I always love power scaling, upgrades, and survivors-like games and this game has that, but I think it is good to set expectations nonetheless. As part of that expectation, I would say that the game is not worth the asking price. When way better games in the genre can be had for the same cost if not less (Vampire Survivors is way better for a dollar US less) you are in a bad spot. On sale though, I got it for a good price and think it is well worth the $2.40 US I paid. I got enough fun and time wasted in the game for that to be a good exchange and I think that most people will agree if they pay the same amount. Survivors-likes is a genre that I think is going to be continually filled with more competition, so there is a lot to compete with, but Rocket Rats holds its own at the right price. As for the sound design, it is fine. I think that the sound effects are very satisfying; they’re very punchy and seem to have a high level of bass that just feels nice. The music is thematically fitting, it kind of has that old sci-fi game from the 90s sound to it, but its composition was fine at best in my opinion. Overall though, I do think the sound design is good, but not great. Artistically this game is cute as hell. The pixel art is great, the animations are well designed, and stylistically it is all thematically fitting and charming. The highlight is easily the different rats that you can play as. Each rat has a strong personality and look that I really found appealing. I did however feel as though the enemy variety was lacking, they are all space-themed (Stars, moons, etc.) but there are very few varieties. It was also a funny, though also quite annoying, choice to allow for your ammunition to be represented on the screen 1-to-1 continuously to the point where half of the screen is covered with the ammo UI. The good news is that you can turn it off, but what an odd choice. Overall though, the art is the stand-out for this game. In the end, I recommend Rocket Rats, it is a fun time. It is simple, fun, cute, and cheap. What is there not to like?

I had a fantastic time playing Rocket Rats! It's a thrilling twin-stick shooter that kept me engaged and entertained from start to finish. The gameplay is smooth, the visuals are charming, and the action is just the right amount of challenging. For such a modest price, it's absolutely worth a look—definitely a great value for anyone looking for some fun and excitement. I also want to take a moment to thank the developer for creating such an enjoyable game. It truly helped me get through a tough time recently following the loss of our beloved pet rat, Lucy. She was an older, cream-colored rat who brought so much joy to our lives, and playing Rocket Rats reminded me of the playful spirit she had. Your work has meant more to me than I can say—thank you for that.

A cute little game. The gameplay is shallow, and it brings nothing new to the "survivor" genre. But can't complain much with its price tag.

Fun bite-sized game. Definitely feels like it could be expanded on, but it provides enough for the low price.

Fantastic, adorable little game. It's quite short for its genre, and the balancing needs a little work, but for the price I'd say it's worth every penny and then some.

fun game really enjoyable to unlock characters, buy upgrades and experiment with different builds. 6/10 However, getting all of the achievements is quite annoying and grindy and a lot of rng with makes it not so fun and not even a test of skill 2/10

Okay so this game is a great value for the less than $3 I paid for it. It didn't take long (a little over 3 hours) for me to unlock all the rats and complete a full run with them. The pixel graphics are gorgeous and I am overall happy with this game. There isn't a whole lot to it but for $3, I'm pleased. Hopefully they make a second one and make it BIGGER!

Rocket Rats is one of those games that was advertised to me on the Steam store out of nowhere recently. These easy pick up and play bullet hell games have become something of a guilty pleasure of mine over the past few years and I do like to play them from time to time. How does it compare to its contemporaries? In order to differentiate itself from the competition, the gimmick of Rocket Rats is that the playable area is incredibly small. This is a double-edged sword as whilst it adds a new twist to the formula, it almost causes artificial difficulty to occur at times, which prevents a typical playthrough from being as enjoyable as it could be. It also means that certain builds almost become necessary rather than encouraging the player to try to experiment with additional builds. The playable characters also do not really maximise the idea that you are playing as a rat and it almost feels like these characters could be anything or anybody else and nothing would really change. If I compare this to a similar game like Pesticide Not Required, the frogs and toads that you played as had their abilities tied into their physiology and the various build ideas always made them feel like amphibians. Rocket Rats could have explored these characters more, but the few characters that are available are still enjoyable to play as. If you can buy Rocket Rats on sale as I did, I would still recommend it if you are a fan of the genre and wish to play something slightly different from the usual popular choices, but be aware that you may find it not quite as compelling as other bullet hell games.

I mean it's ok I guess. I got it for $2 so it's a dollar per hour of gameplay. Only one of the characters felt good to play and was actually decent enough to consistently get to late rounds, but by that point I was so over it with this game. Most of the effects felt useless like poison and curse when I can just put more levels into fire rate or reload speed.

Buy it. This game is short. But I enjoyed every moment of it. Its fast paced too. By 1 hr you will probably get the hang of what works and what doesnt. The pixel art is cute, its colorful and the UI animations are icing on the cake. The bullet drop off, reloading animation and the tiny cards on the left. The popping numbers as you pickup the cheese. These small things are very nice tiny details.

What a game! I had been enjoying some survivor-like games, and I gave this short game a try. It’s a nice fusion of a short idle game and a survivor game. I enjoyed completing it and had so much fun building the most optimized build. I recommend it 100% if you enjoy short idle games. It’s worth it :)

The game's pretty simple and cute. You can probably complete it in about 5-6 hours or so. The game gets a lot easier drastically when you get your upgrades though so you might be turned off by it becoming an idle game. Nevertheless definitely worth its price.

9/10 ~Six hours for 100% achievements. Highly condensed, well stream-lined, fun abilities. Runs are about 20 minutes. Becomes repetitive after about 2-3 hours. I really liked how "small" the game was but, if it had just a little more strategical depth and/or variety it would've been perfect.

Pretty fun for $5! The gameplay loop can be repetitive, but there are enough different builds and skill tree paths to keep you entertained for a little while. I also did not hate 100%-ing this!

The game is fun, but it's excessively minimalist. You can buy everything within one hour of gameplay, upgrades stop at round 30, and there's essentially no map. This means you're left with two ways to extend your gameplay: keep replaying to get perfect RNG rolls like a slot machine, or get variety through experimenting with the other classes. At some point you have to ask yourself what you're wasting your time doing, really. Upgrades are all the same and extremely biased towards the soldier class, so it's not like there's any real progression on that front. The currency is useless because you've already bought everything. And some upgrades are useless (for instance, 200% higher rarity vs. 2x more rolls, obviously more rolls is superior). Like genome guardian, you really don't "need" a map, but it would still add to the experience. The price is fair, I'll give it that. And it follows the roguelite format perfectly. I just wish they'd go farther with it, because in my repertoire of games, Rocket Rats doesn't stand out as something I'd choose over other roguelites.
