A walking simulator where you shake and squeesh a rat, quite amusing. 1 hour of a barely interesting story to go through while you listen to the rat occasionally say something CHEESY for the 100th time in between it having it's eyes pushed out of it. Not scary at all - might be a little disturbing to some I'd guess(?). Game looks actually polished and doesn't look like some garbage slop at all. 0 bugs encountered as well.
It feels unnecessarily dragged out. Joke stops being funny and more or less annoying by the end. A bunch of "f*ck u" deaths in the game that just drag the "gameplay" even more and put you so far back it just kills ANY interest in whatever was happening. I don't understand the logic behind this as the game is not long enough to be non-refundable anyway and it just makes people more likely to refund the game.
Asking for 2,99€ for this gag is alright, people pay more for dumb stuff to put on their steam profiles. I absolutely disagree with how they're just trying to milk this game for money post-purchase though - limited plushies, "supporter pack", clothes... Behaviour of a meme hit wonder tiktok infamy farmer superstar... props to anyone who finds it THAT funny. Shake all the rats my guy.
Spend the energy on making another alright well executed joke/story/game instead please? You're doing okay.

Garbage game. I was hoping for a game like the Park (haunted house walking game). Instead you really do shake the stupid rat until your wrist hurts and hold down the mouse with your finger. Even with using tape to hold the mouse down, it was still painful. And you have to shake FOR SO LONG. It's basically a m*sturbating game, complete with the rat making moaning sounds. It was so irritating, I turned the volume down.
There's also no run option. You just...walk slowly through dark rooms.
I'm convinced that games like these are made specifically for streamers to play and be like "lol look how crazy this is!!" while laughing hysterically and getting followers. The rat shaking is basically used instead of your regular point and click mechanic, I suspect to make an otherwise pedestrian horror walking simulator into something that will get more attention. Even for $3, this game wasn't worth it.
I usually don't request a refund on small indie games under $5, but I don't even want this in my library anymore. I regret buying it. Just watch a let's play instead.

yet another "contextless halls of spooky things" and "the twist is you're a crazy guy who did something bad" meat horror game. lots of indie horror staples like video tapes and a pixelated screen filter are added for no reason the game bothers justifying. these things are in here just because they're in other indie horror games!
the main thing i found to dread, more and more as the game went on, was any time i had to shake the rat, which you have to do to interact with anything. it has left me with a legitimate pain in my wrist that's going to stop me from playing video games for a few days. i turned up the rat shaking sensitivity which helped a bit, but there should probably be an accessibility option to press a button to toggle shaking or something.
my other least favorite part was that random interactible objects would simply blow up and kill you, which resets you to a checkpoint with an empty shake meter. it's not at all something that makes you want to experiment and interact with the world. you learn pretty quickly to not interact with anything but the gross meat doors and the three (3) power generators you have to find in a row to proceed, the game's only game mechanic.
i don't mind games that don't have many mechanics, but if you take the rat shaking out, this game would just be clicking on parts of a polaroid and doors and generators.
it really feels like they had this one idea, shaking the rat to make things happen, but then had zero ideas for anything interesting to do with that mechanic. it really is just walking down hallways and turning on generators. then it tells you that you killed your wife, oh no, and then the game ends. i don't know this wife, or baby, or anything about my character's life, why do i care? you can't just say "i've got this story idea where you remember you murdered your wife" and that's literally all the context you put into it. the story ends up having nothing to do with the rat, or shaking the rat, effectively making the game's main draw completely pointless.

A strange little morsel of a game about a man's descent through Hell, reliving his own wrongs. Or at least, that's what I gathered. A playthrough will take you about an hour, maybe a little less. The game is linear and doesn't contain any side-content that I could find.
The atmosphere is well-done and the graphics are appealing enough to me. From a gameplay perspective, it's a simple walking simulator where you shake a rat around to interact with the world, but gameplay often takes a backseat to narrative when you're playing games such as this one, so I don't think it detracts from the experience enough to matter. Horror elements mostly rely on the atmosphere combined with occasionally-claustrophobic interior environments, jumpscares, and eerie noises, but
there are no actual "enemies" in the game to worry about that I ever found, which was just a little disappointing.
My one serious criticism is that
you need to do two playthroughs to get achievements for two different endings, but as far as I could tell, there's no other incentive to play through another time, making the second run kind of a slog with the only payoff being a different cutscene at the end.
If you enjoy games that you'll spend a couple dollars on and play once for a couple hours, this is a good contender. If not, watch a streamer you like play it.

It's fun, weird but fun. Lot's of meat sphincters and truly awful choking noises.

The amount of laughs this game gave me and chat -- wild times. Starts so fun and crazy and finishes fun and Dark. Some good jumps all around... a lot of friends now want to play, this was a fun one. If you're into this indie horror genre, this is a must.

I'm quite glad that I didn't do any research into this game before playing it myself.
I was expecting it to just be one big meme, instead I got a surprise horror experience that I couldn't put down.
It doesn't over stay it's welcome, and for this price it's well worth it.

I wish I could get the last hour I spent playing this game back. I did end up playing through to the end, but I don't think a single jump-scare attempt actually worked, and after the novelty wore off 5 minutes in, I can only describe the rest of this walking simulator as boring. I couldn't tell you what the intended gameplay experience or tone of the game was supposed to be even if I wanted to.

Probably the best rat shaking experience that you won't be investigated for animal cruelty for, and you can even buy it on Steam!

I saw the reviews noting the psych horror tag, yet nothing could have prepared me for the hour long masterpiece that is Ratshaker.

I did quite enjoy the bits with the rat shaking and the parts where the game tells you to shake the rat. Occasionally I was told to stop shaking the rat which was not as enjoyable as the parts where I shook the rat. All in all would absolutely recommend if you are into this sort of thing. As I progressed through the rat shaker game, I often found myself thinking "thank god for this rat that I can shake". This game would be very difficult or even impossible without the ability to shake the rat. Occasionally things would interfere with the potency of my rat shaking - televisions mostly - but it turned out to all be OK and I just kept on shaking rats after encountering some rats. It is important that rats are well fed and the ones in this story are. I learned a lot about rats playing rat shaker and certainly felt the rats.
If you enjoyed playing bop-it and also enjoy rats, I highly reccomend this highly immersive rat shaking experience.
