- The signalling is absolute donkey poo and makes half of the services unplayable by showing red signals whenever the game feels like it. - Catenary is completely inaccurate everywhere BUT we are getting a fix for it soon which I am happy about.. I'm left wondering though, who made the stupid decision to do the inaccurate catenary in the first place? - Fortunately, we have someone named Cactusjuice on the team, who is basically quality control and is getting the catenary and signalling fixed. - Sounds are decent for Dovetail product but the only reason they are good is because Dovetail got someone from the Audio Shack (who made sounds for Railworks) to do the sounds for the MBTA F40 and cab car. - Scenery is okay in some places but bad in some places. Part of the route looks like a desert with a sand-like texture for the ground. Some stations are sketchy and most station signs are completely inaccurate. - Bad choice of MBTA rolling stock. It is extremely rare to find five car sets with all MBBs on this line. A much better option would have been to use the MPI HSP46 with either Kawasaki or Rotem multilevel coaches as those are the most common on this line. But hey, there is always room for DLC to include those. I have been waiting for a MBTA DLC for years as I am from the area and I was quite disappointed with this product. 5/10 for now. Don't buy it yet. Wait for the catenary and signalling update to come out first to have a more enjoyable experience.

+ new Yank passenger route from our overlords at Dovetail Games + great location Bos to Prov, busy with variations in scenery + just under about 200 services + updated ASC64 along with F40PH-3c and CTC-3 cab car as "driveables" + stations look decent and varied throughout, as per IRL + SOUNDS... we got decent sounds for NA stock in TSW, rejoice (from TheAudioShack, TS classic developer) + feels busy w the implementation of more a.i. on trains/platforms + "Stowtunn" (Stoughton) Branch line for MBTA + this is a busy transit hub IRL and it feels fairly close with what stock is on offer, plenty of trains - esp in and out of Boston ~ freight operates in this area IRL, tho some a.i. locos/cars on line, none are operable via layering ~ though sounds are good, most are mixed poorly ~ weird catenary/OHLE... *BUT* it's going to be corrected in a future update (i'd like to say I haven't heard that one before...) ~ no worthwhile tutorials beside "eBrAkE ReSeT" ~ no manual again (totally shocking, right?) - all the scenarios are in winter, why... - some of the yards and line side areas are just too clean and lifeless, needs more "clutter" - either the new core update or route itself introduced some bugs or errors, which cause ctd's (which they likely knew, hence why the core update was released WITH the new addon and not before) My sum of things so far. Things are likely to be added or removed as time wears on. So far, I think its fairly solid - maybe 7/10 on the random number rating scale ----- an overview of the route: https://youtu.be/9JJoIe-gJ1c

As a native New Englander I have waited a long time for a route here, and this route exceeded my expectations. The route itself is beautiful and almost identical to real thing, as are the locomotives and rolling stock. My biggest con is that the route seems comparatively short, it takes about an hour for an ACS-64 to clear it, but I might just be nit picky. I'd also love to see add-ons for this route in the future such as the Acela Express or more MBTA locos and dual level cars. Overall a great route!

ATC / ACSES is totally broken. You get random speed restrictions. Even when you have a green light. Time to penalty doesn't show up. So you just have to guess how much time is left till you get an emergency break. PLS FIX

I love the route and was happy that Boston was finally included. However many components of this route are broken and several time schedules are glitched to the point you cannot complete service because of AI trains blocking the track and basically getting stuck. Also graphically I find it lazy that many of the high / low platforms do not even have stairs to them and a few other minor details. I contacted the developer and they have not implemented any fixes. Its a shame because I want to like this, but, because of the gamebreaking issues I cannot recommend it.

ATCS Is still bugged and restricting you for 30mph for no reason. THE SAME BUG FROM TSW 1 New York which they did never fix. And now they release this with THAT SAME BUG ? This is beyond joke. Edit: more and more bugs. Scenarios cant be completed because they wasnt tested AT ALL !!! Almost nothing works. If they are not going to fix these i really hope they are going to fucking bankrupt already. Requesting a refund.

My first impressions were rather positive. The route looked visually nice, the trains were well detailed and felt really fun to run, and the mass amounts of people getting on and off trains was impressive to see. The sounds were pretty solid too, with custom horns on the MBTA content, which is a nice touch. but the signals make this route actually completely 100% unplayable AI trains get stuck at signals, and then other AI trains behind it get cleared to pass stop signals and get super close to the first stopped AI train, rinse and repeat until you have like 6-7 trains lined up in a parade a few yards from each other, eternally waiting for the first train to be cleared. Youll be sitting at a red signal, request permission to pass and be granted permission, and then come across this mess, which makes almost every single service included impossible to finish. Not to mention the nightmarishly bad speed limits and simulation of ACSES and ATC, you'll be cruising along at 60MPH, be cleared to go up to 90, then 60, then 30, and then back to 60 all within 30 seconds. You'll be lucky if you can complete a service on time from all of the unplanned stops from ACSES/ATC. I seriously wouldn't even touch this DLC with a 10ft pole. The Cane Creek was a walk in the park compared to this, since you could actually run trains without issue on it.

I Absolutely love it! Great scenery and trains, only issue, and for me its a big one as a die heart Amtrak Acela and Northeast Regional fan. The interiors of the Northeast Regional Amfleets are outdated and not realistic, and the consist is 8 cars instead of the IRL 7 car consist.

If you want rush hour get the the pass as it save u money in the long run unless you only want one route. Where to begin ....its bugged,,,i seen no people on stations yet there meant to spawn ahead of you in time, as usually it feels rushed and un-polished . The world still seems void of life apart from Boston its self. I was always gonna get the pass but as per this route goes its just not....good meant to be this amazing updated game play but just bugged and issues which should of been addressed but this is DTG and unfurnished products are finished in there mind. Look at the Dresden route how bugged that was but its out on Thursday! Matt always says the same thing in preview streams oh i don't know how we missed that! Its DTG'S way no checking or anything for example the one of the lead guys is German yet on the Dresden route the cars on driving like they would in the UK ....no checking is taking place. Back to Boston get it on a decent discount because its not worth it we have to wait months for patch's If you like unfinished products buy it !

What is there to say? It's the same DTG rush job...guess that's why they call it "Rush Hour". Stability: Random crashes. Not much more to say here. It also crashes when I exit the game. Sounds: There's not really that much of a discernible difference inside the cabin as you increase the throttle. The horn is bad. The engine sounds are uninspiring and quiet. Graphics: Mixed bag as usual. Lighting and models looks good. Textures and effects are inconsistent. The F40 has NO external loco glass texture so the Engineer looks like he's sitting in the open. Meanwhile, the cabin cars do have glass texture. There's snow effects on the ground inside the covered terminal area...which is odd for obvious reasons. Then to top it all off, as people walk by the snow texture, it disappears and then reappears after the people have left. Tutorials: The first one just finishes with no warning, the second just crashes for me. Not sure what else to say here. It certainly isn't worth the full price, nor would it be worth it on sale. DTG needs to get their act together, at this point it's just silly. Color me underwhelmed.

Absolutely love this route, as I live just north of Boston and ride the "T" whenever I spend the day there. The scenery isn't exactly spot-on, but Boston and the surrounding area is loaded with skyscrapers that would (likely) take forever for the developers to get done. Despite that, I love taking control of a commuter rail train out of South Station and rolling to stops I've been to or have driven by at times. Would love to see more expansion of the route, especially out west towards Worcester and Wachussett as well as north to Lowell and Haverhill. Would also love to see the subway lines done like they did with the London Underground route as well.

Pros: - Everything is highly detailed from the trains, to the passengers to the stations. - The route feels busy - much better than other routes like GWE and Koln - Aachen. - Great audio on the ACS-64. Cons: - There are little things which you notice the more you play e.g. ridiculously steep roads, platforms with no player collisions etc. None of these are game-breaking though - just needs more testing from DTG. - Loading a save can mess things up: like disabling all the train's lights, turning of the alerter, jamming all the doors open. This is a game breaker. - There is basically no sound in the F40PH with the windows shut. Overall: DTG's best route yet and could be improved with minor tweaks and bug fixes on their part. 100% recommended even at full price.

Personally I think this is the best route to date. The scenery is beautifuly well made. As of writing this review there are some minor things like floating buildings here and there. But I think those are minor things to fix. The rolling stock are well modeled and weathered. Hopefully we will see more in the future. There are many services to drive more than what is curently listed in the timetable. I recomend this route those who want a semi challenging experience as the safety system isn't that hard to learn.

I'll start with the positives +good stock +good sounds +route looks nice However, you don't buy a route for the good looks but for the activities on said route and that's where the issues start with unrealistic timetables if you try to use the safety systems,it's not as bad as in TSW2020 but still bad enough to ruin your run. You can easily be 10 minutes late just because the safety system gives you random speeddrops without an AI in your path. Speaking of AI,since they have no logic or priorities and due to the nature of the route and the ability to have 2 trains in one block, you'll often see AI blocking eachother,or you, leaving the route locked up in its totality. If this gets fixed then yes this is worth the buy,but without any patches (and knowing DTG i'm not holding my breath) it's better to skip this or get it at a decent discount (but remember to run without the safety systems then) If this gets fixed i'll update this review but at this point in time it's a hard no.

This is a very nice route. You get two train packs included and the route is a nice size for some good train thrashing.

It is a good DLC. The two locomotives go perfectly and the sounds are good except in the trailer cabin, which are null, in conclusion the strong and weak points: + -Duration of schedules -Number of passengers at stations -Detail of the cabins - -Car sounds -Sounds from the trailer cabin -Diversity of services, there are few being a route with a lot of traffic In general I recommend this route but there are many things to fix. If you want to buy it, wait for them to solve all the errors or buy it on sale later.

It's fine. It runs fine, the trains are fine, and Boston looks pretty decent. But like most other TSW American routes, it just never feels like the US. Worth playing if you enjoy American trains, though this is maybe the most boring stretch of the NEC. New York to Providence may have been a more interesting choice but I understand DTG not wanting to go to the NYC well AGAIN.

this DLC is really amazing, scenery is very good, looks pretty much like the real thing Pros: -very nice locos -textures are very nice -scenery is very good -south station looks exactly like the real thing -scenario's are pretty good, i'd like to see some more Amtrak scenarios Cons: -Trains are somewhat hard to operate -low end PC's may suffer going into back bay or south station -1 MBTA loco, needs to add the HSP 46 -no dual level passenger cars, its been years since i've seen a full single level train, or a full dual level train, most trains run with a mixture of dual and single levels, -disappointing commuter route, very short, and the end station/Stoughton is too small to feel like an end line station overall i would totally recommend this pack for somebody who's looking for fun and diverse routes, as well as short options of those routes, with the amtrak going to providence, it gives more of an express route for those who enjoy it, i would like to see a longer commuter route, like the Framingham/Worcester route, as worcester is a larger city, it would fit better then the current short and small commuter route Total grade: 7.75/10

I never in a million years thought I would enjoy this route, so am extremely happy I took a chance and picked it up. The Boston Sprinter route is quickly becoming my favorite of the ones I own. I'm most impressed with the night lighting which looks as close to real as I've seen on any TSW2 routes. Bravo for getting this right. The horn and bell sounds are rather good compared to other routes. The locomotives "feel" right to drive and the route is varied enough to keep you interested. The scenery looks good and everything seems to work as it should. Owning this route is going to encourage me to try out other routes that I would not have had interest in before. I happily recommend.

Overall, "Boston Sprinter" (Boston, MA to Providence, RI) is the weakest of the three rush hour routes. Other than being the least dense timetable of the season ticket, it's really just let down by the disappointing implementation of signalling and the strange behavior it causes in ACSES as a result--which, unfortunately, makes the game almost unplayably dull. Nothing like having America's high speed ACS-64 kneecapped to 45mph for the entire last third of the route because every signal is inexplicably at Medium Approach even though the next section (or two, or three!) are clear.

Though I've seen many people do not recommend this route regarding bugs and low volume of traffics comparing with other two RH routes, I do prefer this one because there is a "half new" loco ACS-64 and the performance of this route is generally better than the rest. Also on this route you can run up to 125mph/200kph which is awesome for those who like high speed trains. There are still some bugs (i.g. ACSES still malfunctionning and you may get delayed if using it in timetable) but don't affect the immersion. So if you want to experience the fastest railroad in America continent then try it.

BUY THIS, Rush Hour 2 its awesome, note not all the content is out yet- its not planned for release yet! BUT the 2 parts I have so far are probably the best fun I've had in TSW2 for ages. Best DLC and best value. Good quality that I've seen so far, I'm playing in 4k loveliness too- trains look beautiful :)

Its a solid 7/10, yes theres some issues with detailing although unless you are actually going out your way to find fault there's only a small amount that is "in your face" wrong. The timetables are virtually impossible to maintain if you have the optional safety systems active (which do need a rework), the brake sounds of the F40 are horrible and just plan wrong. BUT none of this stops you enjoying what is a beautiful route with a hell of a lot of variety in it unless you let it. Personally I love it and would recommend to anyone.

Overall I'd say this is my favourite DLC so far. The route looks nice, the trains are diverse, look good and work well. I enjoy the variety of activities: fast Amtrak, slower but still fast MBTA services, plus a nice branchline MBTA service. I feel like the signalling is a bit odd at times (sometimes advanced speed reduction signals for no apparent reason?) but that's minor in the big scheme of things and I do very much enjoy this DLC. Sounds are among the best for a North American route. An Acela DLC would be nice to see in the future as would the ability to run freight operations. This type of line makes for very interesting railroading, hopefully we'll see more like this in the future (hint to DTG, the GO Transit Lakeshore West line would be a similarly great route like this one including VIA Rail and you've already created part of it with the partial Oakville Subdivison DLC).

I quite enjoy this route. The trains are fun and the high speed services not so long that you become disinterested. There is plenty of action happening and it does deserve the "rush hour" moniker, lots of movement, lots of passengers. There are some niggles with the route and a few bugs but I expect they will get addressed shortly. For the most part its playing well and providing enjoyment. This is FANTASTIC DLC, Dovetail! I love that you've gone the extra mile to try and make this solid. My only critiques is for places like Boston Back Bay station - you could've done a little more with padding the upper terminal level; there is absolutely NOT just a brick wall at the top of the stairs, I've been there, and there's an entire waiting area! You could've modeled that and just not let the player walk there without having to do a huge amount of space. Otherwise, this is excellent! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, to see you continue this route from Providence down to New Haven, or even New York! Add on the New England Rail freight service, maybe Amtrak maintenance equipment and machines? If you go as far as NY, you could add the Metro-North M8 trains, or the CTDOT Shoreline East service. If you want to go west-ward, something like the MBTA's services Framingham/Worcester line! Either way, I love this, and I hope to see more of the Northeast Corridor/New England services! I would absolutely pay to see that. Keep it up!

I have played this since the first one came out, lets just say that Dovetail has gotten much worse with the DLC's they make in my eyes. Yes, this was a PHENOMENAL job by the DLC wise, but the others along with the price of it just aint worth it. I guess its time to start phasing out Dovetail. :`(

As someone who's wanted an MBTA Route in a Train Simulator since about 2014, i'm very pleased. Being from the New England Area, the sounds, surroundings/scenery, stations and Trains are done very well (especially for a NA Route by Dovetail). Also, it being a part of the Rush Hour DLC, theres lots of traffic and options for trains that makes the world feel much more alive. My only complaints are some of the sounds (mainly the horn, pretty good in the interior but the exterior is kind of disappointing) and there are a few sound glitches here and there. Other than that, I'm so happy to finally have a Boston Route in Train Sim and hope they add more in the future ( maybe a subway or another Commuter Rail Route as an added bonus ;) )

Gameplay wise Boston Sprinter is a boring corridor ride which reminds me of drag racing (probably this is how our British friends imagined the right thing to please the Americans). Nothing to look at - just the tree rows on both sides and a bit of 'authentic' Boston at one end to please those who can recognize the skyline. That's all. Both locos have good power and artificially fiddly brakes to make the process of slowing down tricky as hell like an old 'Lunar Landing' game and this is basically what you'll be entertained with. Quality wise it's another typical Dovetail beta version for the money, lights don't work, smoke doesn't smoke and the speed limit behaves like lunatic. So nothing has changed, they still half-made their half-products. You can buy it if you are already in the game and know what you are doing, in other case - avoid or at least make shure you can stand the base game first.

++It's the MBTA! I heart the T! ++Incredibly busy route, departures and arrivals at South station up to a train a minute. +Varied services. Slow, fast, depot movements... +Decent scenery for the most part +Well modeled trains as per usual +Amtrak makes its return to the Train Sim World Cons: -Frequent faults in the timtable, running over invisble (but unfortunately red) signals. Please fix! -No cargo timetables. The CSX locos sit around all day doing nothing. --Pawtucket station is missing??

Wonderful route! Recently finished the journey and it was a lot of fun. The journey takes place mostly in the winter so if you are running the ACS-64 you will wheel-slip easy but its fun trying to keep control of it! ATC and ACSES are the two safety systems used on this route and they work exactly how they should, slowing your train down if you are two close to the train in-front of you and making sure you are under the speed limit when enabled. This route has a lot of detail along with the new passenger system which is much more realistic then before leading to a more enjoyable experience. This route only has passenger services but CSX trains are placed to idle in yards which gives a nice bit of variety when driving even if you can't operate them. The only issue I've had so far is one of the services where you park an ACS-64 in the yard outside of Boston has you have to complete it by running around the building rather then going through it as you will derail otherwise. Overall this is one of the best US based routes for high speed passenger, with both the ACS-64 and the new F40PH-3C locomotives enjoying a new and much better physics system that makes driving not only more challenging but also much more entertaining!

Actually personally I like Boston Sprinter root because 1. Route length is good not very long not very short. 2. Both ACS-64 and F40PH-3C engine is good in terms of playability. 3. Numbers of station are decent - 15 stations. 4. In this route you can attain very good high speed of 200 kmph. 5. If csx engine are playable then it would be more fun.

This review is based on a limited amount of gameplay. The Boston Sprinter route has a length of 50 Miles plus a 4 miles branchline. It runs from Boston to Providence. The Rush Hour aspect is mainly focussed on Boston, where in the 24 hour timetable about 700 trains vcan be seen. Almost 200 of them are driveable. Thew second rush Hour aspect is that the variety and number of passengers is increased form 20 to 100 that are directly visible. This is a very good number and platforms look really busy. Due to some optimizations, the passengers are really there and not arriving when your train leaves. You can drive two train types, the electric Siemes ACS64 running Amtrak services with speeds up to 125Mph and the F40PH-3C MBTA commuter trains, which are diesel engines. For the latter there also is a driveable cabcar. The engines are thoroughly revised models, where the Amtrak engine is based upon the one in the NEC route for TSW20202 and the MBTA is similar to the Caltrain engine. Similar is not the same, there is a lot of redevelopment and improvements done. CSX freight stuff is added in the yards, but tey are not intended to dbe driveable, though you do a bit of freeroam shuting. Also new is ACSES signalling and ATC, which we know from the LIRR rotue also is used and adds to complexity and driving fun. Driving the trains is a bit of a slow experience. They do not accellarte very well and also braking is slow. For the MTBA stock, take just below a mile to come to a complete stop, using suppression braking. The smaller features I love are the Balloon loop to reverse Amtrak trains in Boston and the facility to accomodate wheelchairs to enter the trains. Watch them for yourself at the stations! Oh, there is still more. Snow is upgraded to give a more realistic winter periode. It is very visible if you look at the trees. All this makes me really happy. The many depot drives and trainreversal drives make it interesting and in Boston you will like to do soem railfanning. Is there anythng at the minus side? Not much. there is no manual, which is bad and there is a bglitch in the tutorial instructions for the cab car. There are some issues for which we have the promise they will be fixed. My biggest minus: no freight. Hopefully there will be a DLC where the CSX trains get ACSES and ATC, so we can use them on the route. While driving a bit more, i found a numer of sloppy scenery errors. Canton looks a bit unfinished and the high platforms are not always accessible by wheelchairs. I need to test it again, but the HEP seems to be turned off by the game save if youd rive the cab car. Because there is no control to turn it on, this is a bit annoying. Finally, ACSES/ATC sets allowed speed to zero when you approach a red signal. This may be intentional, but it forces you to slow down below I think 4Mph if you want to stop closer to the signal. Due to the complete lack of documentation, this makes it a bit hard. Also, there is room to run the Acela, but it is not there. I did not play it for months. There a re a few bug fixes, but I think most bugs are still there. It is a pity, but for me there is no fun in playing it at the moment. Therefore I had to change my review to not recommended.
