I really wanted to avoid writing a negative review of this game, but in the end, it has to be done. The developer of this game is a studio with vast experience. They’ve released 2 successful games, tons of DLCs, and they know what they’re doing. Or do they actually know?

1. A Rough Start
The early access launch was poor. Online mode didn’t work, tons of bugs, crashes, people couldn’t even launch the game.
What has changed since then? Surprisingly, online mode now works. The bugs are still there, although I have to admit they’ve fixed some. People still have trouble launching the game to some extent.
2. Updates
Initially, the roadmap had 6 phases + the release. Currently, it's 8 phases + release. The average gap between each phase has been around 2 months.
Let me remind you that even other early access games, and titles like GTA 6, have clearer deadlines.
I suspect they overestimated their goals, but more on that in point 4.
3. Communication with players (Important from an early access perspective)
There’s simply none. Only for a short while, Stefano Casillo (CTO of Kunos Simulazioni) was talking to players. Now – radio silence. Why is that? That’s coming in the next point.
4. Developers’ (and players’) attitude
In my opinion, The developers of this game give the impression that communication with players is not their priority. The only thing we get is vague statements like "yeah, the update will come next month, but we don't know when, so just keep waiting". No clear dates or timelines.
No communication, the disappearance of the roadmap from the Steam page, they’re making tutorial videos on YouTube about driving on tracks (which I think is a cool idea, but not in the current state of the game).
It seems they avoid openly communicating potential delays to ACE, possibly to maintain the public image of a perfect, flawless game that Kunos is trying to push right now – whether through posts on X about this being the most realistic racing sim ever made, or by organizing events at real-world races where new content is sometimes made available at events before reaching those who purchased the game in early access, making tutorials and generally behaving as if the game is already several months past its 1.0 release.
And what about the players? It feels like some players are uncritically supportive of the developers' actions, despite the visible issues. Where there’s true freedom of speech, you can find factual criticism of this game. But where the speech is limited, people rave about 3 tracks, terrible VR performance, and poor multi-screen support.
There are people who would probably even cheer and applaud if Kunos announced they were ending development on ACE — that’s how blindly loyal they are to the studio.
At least on Steam, you can find honest comments about the state of this game.
Is it worth buying?
If you're thinking of buying this game, I recommend you pick up Le Mans Ultimate, F1 25, WRC Generations, EA WRC, or even go back to ACC or modded AC. Why? Because there you won’t be as disappointed as with this [strike]game[/strike].
That’s right, Assetto Corsa EVO is NOT A GAME, it’s a standalone DLC for the original Assetto Corsa, more like a remaster.
Now you might ask, "Why did you buy it? Just refund it." And I’ll answer: Take a look at the game’s description and ask yourself – doesn’t it sound convincing?
Assetto Corsa EVO pushes the boundaries of realism even further, the very realism that made the franchise one of the most popular driving simulations of the last decade.
With that mindset, I truly believed Kunos wanted to create such a game. But now I know – they either won’t deliver it, or it’ll take far longer than anyone anticipated.
If I had to sum this game up briefly, I’d describe it like this: A separate add-on to the original AC, playable but with serious issues, developers in no rush, and pride that takes your breath away. If you enjoy simcade and don’t expect anything better than NFS Heat, this game is for you. If you expect something new, groundbreaking – look elsewhere, because you won’t find it here and you’ll be disappointed..
In three emotes: 😠😔😘
