Ambition: A Minuet in Power

Extremly well done Visual Novel about the French Revolution. The protagonist is a young women that came to Paris to search for her missing fiance and has now to navigate the high society at the eve of the revolution. Well researched and historically highly authentic, half the romance options are historical personalitys, the story has romance, humour and drama in a livly historical setting. A setting that can change, as the protagonist can influence, alter and change how the revolution plays out. The best thing about this game is, you are not forced to do anything. You are dropped in paris and then its up to you. You dont have to search for your fiance, influence the revolution, attend balls, take revenge on your enemys or romance someone. Sure, that makes it very liekly that you will be put under the guilotine, so you should at least try. And the world doesnt wait for you. Oportunitys disappere and romance options can die if ignored. Also, you dont have to dump your fiance to romance someone else, as he is somewhat fine with taking lovers. As it was common at that time. Still, this is not a free for all, he doesnt mind a lebian romance with a painter, but romance a dangerous firebrand revolutionary and he will give an ultimatum, as he doesnt share his political opinion. This shows greatly how every character is unique and has different interactions with each other. The gameplay is easy once you figuered it out (around the second time playing), the price is right even without sale and the game fun with different oportunitys every time. It can just get a bit repetiv and bland towards the end, when you have used up the unique events at partys and only get generic ones. One playthrough takes from 2-15 hours, depending how much you are doing. I highly recommend this, expecially if you are historicaly interested.

Great game but I think my last act was bugged. Still enjoyed my experience up until that point!
