Finished the game twice and got 100% achievements in just under 3 hours. It’s a cute and relaxing little game all about digging a hole—and it really nails that cozy, simple gameplay loop. I do wish there were more maps, decorations, or achievement-based challenges. There’s a lot of potential here for expansion, but even as it is, it’s a fun way to spend an evening or two. For just a couple of bucks, it’s totally worth it. If you’re in the mood for something light, calm, and satisfying, I definitely recommend it.

Very fun but very short. I got it on summer sale so I'm not bothered. finished my playthrough within 3 hours while waiting for my gf to get ready for a barbecue. it's that short.

For once put your brains a side and grab this first person “Motherload” type of experience to your Steam library. As this game is literally A Game About Digging A Hole. Eventually once you find the treasure, remember to join the speedrun community to become the next fastest digger the internet has ever heard of.
Final score: 8/10
A great game that shows off some of the awesome new terrain tech UE5 has to offer, it's an easy 100% too with only 1 achievement requiring any amount of effort, took me 4 hours although 1-2 of those hours was just me trying to drain the backyard of dirt until I got bored lol. Would highly recommend! Although there's no resolution settings, and my game was maxed at 122fps the entire time on a 144hz monitor regardless of Vsync settings. Performance was buttery smooth regardless (thanks Gsync!) without a dip or frame skipped, a rarity for UE5 games.

Chill, fun, unique, and short. Tinder bio-sounding description aside, should probably cost a little less in its current state. Hopefully they will put out an extra area / more gadgets in a future update.

While I absolutely LOVE this game, I am aware that my reason for that love is not for it being a "good" game in the sense of what people are probably looking for. If you're like me, autistic and just want a nice repetitive task to do, then you'll love it! Otherwise, probably not so much. I'm dedicated to digging out as much of the yard as is physically possible (currently six hours in and I'm 30 meters down) and for me that is a very enjoyable task; headphones on, music loud, let's do something repetitive that other people find boring! But if you're more normal than I am, you probably will do just that: find the game boring due to its repetition.

Pros: + Digging for materials and exploring for secrets was fun. Cons: - Don't play this game if you have OCD. The digging is imprecise and will almost always leave little pieces of floating dirt behind for you to get caught on when trying to move through tunnels. (Expect those specks of dirt to ruin your speedrun attempts.) - Dynamite sometimes clips through what you're trying to blow up. - Sometimes you won't be able to pick up material if it's partially buried inside a wall. - By the time I found the
second key for the old trunk, its contents
weren't particularly useful to me. - The speedrun achievement drove me insane and probably gave me a repetitive strain injury. I ended up using AutoHotKey. - I understand that the ending is
supposed to be a joke, but it rang a little hollow to me considering that we could have dealt with those giant moles if the developer hadn't arbitrarily disabled dynamite.
Its exactly what it says. Its a short game, with upgrades for the equipment's and very simple mechanics. Nothing revolutionary. Ig good for playing with no brain. 5/10

A captivating game with very simple mechanics. You dig, and that's about it. But it's so fun, and apart from the abrupt (though funny) ending, I enjoyed everything about his game. I plan to replay it again soon.

While I usually get lost in digging pointless giant holes in survival games this one that has that as its entire point kind of disappointed me. The upgrades are good and progression is steady but there are regularly bits floating that you didn't catch and those will count as rock solid ground and possibly kill you when you drop down. Dynamite is useless for most of the game except for clearing rocks and its sadly rather short, hoped for something that I could sunk me teeth into rather than possibly complete in half an hour or less. Its also a major annoyance that all achievements, except for two, are only given once you enter New Game+ that for my understanding only gives you an unneeded achievement tracker in base. Has great potential but falls slightly short to reach its potential.

A surprisingly addictive gem of an indie game I didn’t expect A Game About Digging a Hole to hook me this hard - but here I am, five hours and three playthroughs later, smiling at how much fun I had. This is what indie games should be: simple at first glance, but filled with charm and just the right dose of mystery to keep you exploring. The gameplay loop is oddly satisfying, and collecting all the achievements is easy without feeling trivial. There's a cozy, curious vibe that makes you want to keep going deeper - literally and figuratively. Graphics and sound are nothing groundbreaking, but they get the job done and support the mood well. And the moles at the end? Absolutely hilarious - great payoff. I’ve likely seen everything there is, but for a few bucks and a few hours of genuine enjoyment, this one’s totally worth it. Highly recommended for fans of quirky, low-stress indie adventures.

The masculine urge to dig a hole. Play it in public and guys will flock around you. Genuine sense of exploration as a pokey hole in the garden turns into a cavern. Upgrades. Only complaint is that it ends too soon but it is dirt cheap.

Completed the game and tbh it is pretty mid. The digging of the hole is a satisfying if entirely brainless activity. However, the ending sequence is total ass and a complete tonal shift and poorly executed. It is as if someone took the ending to Motherload and made it much worse. Further, the fact that achievements are largely locked behind a completion of the game is pretty ass because I truly don't think this game has the legs to support a second play through. In my opinion you're going to have a much more engaging experience playing Motherload and not only is it free but it is also absolute class.

for now, not recommended, its not fun with the annoyingly expensive grindy upgrades that adds almost no improvement. then they get about 2x more expensive each time you seperatly upgrade with adding almost no upgrade feel to it. rocks dont sell as much as you need for most of the upgrades and the "battery" you need to constantly pay for to be able to dig is just stupid. + the battery is very expensive itself and there is no way to disable it. thought at first " oh hey this would be a fun unique game to dig a hole" then was met with grind hell that takes all the fun out of it.

Whoever made this game has no concept of digging holes. What you need are head lamps, scaffolding, pick axes instead of shovels, a ladder to climb out of the pit, and maybe a lift. Rocket jumping is not an answer.

A fun cheap short little game that's exactly what it says on the box. Not super polished but clearly wasn't meant to be. NOT 6 hours long by the way, about an hour and a half, I just slowly worked through it while doing other things like discord calls and the like. Very satisfying sense of progression at first that ramps up exponentially as you near the end. Want something like this that's more fleshed out and isn't Minecraft/Terraria, just like the mining and buying better and better gear

It's pretty fun. I was disappointed that there was nothing special taking the item from the crate all the way to the chest

simple, short and makes honor to the name, there is nothing special about the game, but is relaxing and you have a good time digging. I just needed less than an hour to finish it twice and get all the achievements (been short is not something bad, I dont want needless grinding). I would be cool to have map creation tools or something like that for the community.

True to it's name: it's a short, 3 hour~ game about digging a hole. It really only takes this long if you go achievement hunting which requires you to start completely over after your first run. Honestly the deepest thing about this title is the hole you'll be digging.

A very fun mechanic done particularly well. Will definitely take up 1-2 hours of your time if you just want to. Gameplay loop reminiscent of old flash games (Learn to Fly etc) but the digging mechanic is fun enough and engaging. Unfortunately it still did leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth since the final 5-10 minutes of the game felt really rushed and once you had all the fun tools the intended "story" portion was practically over and the final area was a real let down mechanics wise, since you couldn't use any of your tools "just because." 8/10 worth the money.

Very fun game. I've had a desire for a nice chill mining game with some different ore types and upgrades and a bunch of digging, and this game perfectly fit that niche. The achievement hunting was quite fun and it was enjoyable to take the time to excavate the entire backyard top to bottom as well. I imagine I will find myself returning to this game for the relaxing gameplay.

A short game to waste some time on. Reminds me a bit of the old flash game Motherload. Gameplay is digging a hole, selling the ore you find to upgrade your gear, and then making the hole bigger. I will say that I'm not a fan of the very last portion of the game. I also finished all my upgrades pretty early on, so I had very little to spend money on, which was a bit of a disappointment. Still, it's enjoyable for what it is. 3/5.

It is exactly what it promised, but so much better! It's small, it's simple, but it's strangely zen. It's made with a love for the craft. I think it's worth it, but remember, it is what it says: you will just dig a hole.

This is a short, fun game that will only take you a few hours at most to finish, and not many more if you want to obtain every Steam achievement, but it is certainly worth its low price (or even lower if you buy it during a Steam sale like I did). There is no mystery about this Zenlike game. It gives you precisely what the title threatens. You are going to dig a hole in this game. That is what it is about. But in this chaotic world full of multiple stressors, this may be a few hours of precisely what you need to do right now. I didn’t realize it while I was playing the game, but after I finished it, I noticed that there had not been one moment when I thought about my perpetual existential crisis, national or world politics, civilization-threatening environmental problems, or my girlfriends’ cocaine addictions. Will you keep returning to this game repeatedly and spend thousands of hours in it like you did with Borderlands 2 and Skyrim? No, you won’t. Who cares? Leave your problems behind for a few meditative moments and go dig a virtual hole.

Good game on sale feels like a steal. After enough time everything feels non consequential except health witch is silly. Something should be in place other than skill of rocket backpack to determine health damage. Like, just consider if you want the game to be about challenges/experience or if you want the game to be about the health bar. But for real this game is godlike on sale for 4$ if you saw some game play and thought it looked fun. If you have not seen ANY gameplay then I heavily recommend watching a 10 minute video about it, because thats what your in for.

This is such a fun game, I love the simple yet challenging task of finding the treasure, another thing I love about this game is upgrades cuz i would refund this instantly if i had to complete this game with that damn starting shovel, no energy, only being able to pick up like three rocks at a time and a retarded jet pack, all jokes aside, this is truly a great game, 9/10

Fun cheap game. Decent upgrade system to keep you invested. I cleared every spec of dirt from the yard. Only disappointment is that dynamite doesn't stick to the rocks so it just rolled off them because i cleared every conceivable piece of dirt. Still highly recommend if you dug in your yard as a kid, or like other games with mining/digging like minecraft etc.

you dig a hole. fantastic. this game would be about 5000 times more satisfying if there was a way to prevent/get rid of the tiny little specks of dirt that get left behind. and also a way to prevent my wrist from hurting. perhaps there are obvious solutions to this and i am but a common rube. either way i love this game and will continue to disappear for a day at a time to indulge in such simple yet profound pleasures such as this.

I bought this game because it looked just as boring as I was bored. I wanted something to click, something that required minimal mental use. And this exceeded my expectations. The game was easy to beat, taking roughly 3.5 hours or so, but it was more fun than I anticipated. That being said. It is not perfect. I did not enjoy being so confined to the small backyard. Interestingly enough it opens up a bit more, kind of like a pyramid, the further you dig. Nevertheless, it felt a bit constrainy for almost no reason. The items are easy to max out, which makes me a bit sad. I was looking forward to digging a bit closer to China. So all in all, it is not a game you can necessarily peak on. It goes by quick. 4/5
