If your old enough to remember "another world" on the amiga, you will love this. Nice story, great graphics and puzzles and a genuine pleasure to play. Watch the videos and thats what you can expect. Glad I played it.

Excellent game: I warmly recommend. The Artistic Directrion is beautiful, the gameplay is fluid, the puzzles are always reasonably difficult, and Mui is just a success. Mui justifies the purchase alone! The game is almost perfect in its genre, if there was not this ridiculous achievement of finishing the game without dying, which is doable only by saving the slot and retrying (i.e. totally artificially). It really makes no sense in such a game, and it ruins a bit a great atmosphere. I guess the devs wont read my comment, but if there is a follow-up ever, please do not repeat this single small mistake :)

I wanted to like this game so much. I think the art style is really beautiful and the colors are amazing. But the gameplay is extremely repetitive and the puzzles are way too easy. The story is too shallow and that makes the unskipable cut scenes very annoying. It is basically a walking simulation. The art style is very beautiful but is repeated way too many times, makes it boring. The layout is almost always the same. You do the same puzzles and same things over and over and OVER AND OVER again. Controls are wonky and there are time-based puzzles where you need to do smt particular to solve it. The solution is very basic and you can see it directly but the parkour is very annoying because of the wonky physics of the game. For me this was a waste of time and money. I would not recommend it. There are so many way better games you can invest your time to.

A stellar soundtrack, lovely 2.5D graphics, and a touching story make this game a nice way to spend 4-5 hours. This would be a great gateway game for someone new to or mostly uninterested in video games. The forward progression and linear nature of the game is actually a welcome break from the many more frenetic games out there. I like being able to stop and think for a moment and respond instead of having to constantly react and go, go, go all the time. The game is listed as an action/puzzle platformer, but I think Planet of Lana is in its own special niche genre. If this game appeals to you, you might consider similar games such as: FAR: Changing Tides Deadlight Inside Little Nightmares Unravel The Swapper Never Alone Creaks Machinarium Limbo Braid Shady Part of Me Candleman Somerville Kentucky Route Zero Forgotten Anne Out of Line

Normally I wouldn't review after half an hour, but I just wanted to record my positive impression so far because it's on sale for a deep discount. The display options support ultrawide, and the game reminds me a lot of Flashback, Abe's Odyssey, and Inside and Limbo. So far it's more immersive than I thought it would be, which is the number-one quality that I look for in a game. I like the developing friendship between Lana and the cat (?).

Wish i could give a "mixed" result but i tend to give it a negative. The good: - The visuals are great and probably the only reason to buy this game. The mixed: - The story is very basic and has been told a hundred times. Do not expect any surprises. The bad: - The gameplay is were the game is at its worst. The puzzles are incredibly easy and some of them are repeated over and over. - You essentially have to keep pressing the D button for 4 hours which is not "fun" - Standard dumb recommendation to use a controller. Game can be easily completed with one hand most of the time. I bought it on sale for 5€ which is acceptable. DO NOT buy at full price.

Very much on the fence with this. It has beautiful art - the tree design/leaf animations are particularly great. However the game play often borders on excruciating for me. You. Walk. So. Very. Slow. And all of the destinations are spread out. This game is 50% a walking simulator and it's 4-5h long. What are you doing when not walking? Solving very repetitive easy puzzles, the end of most where a rope needs to be slowly rag-dolled down for you to clumsily climb up and leave. I've previously enjoyed games like Gris, where there is substantial walking and puzzles aren't too difficult, but this felt like a whole other level of needing patience. The puzzle complexity is such a let down relative to a game like Trine. In terms of the story, it has recently been told in some form or another a dozen+ times, so while it's good, and I like it, it's basically a trope. I'd recommend this for kids that are old enough to handle some violence/gentle character deaths when you fail at something. But I don't know about adults. If you want a very casual, meditative experience, maybe. Again, the art was great and animation was good and reasonably bug free. I'd consider checking out the sequel if priced right, after checking that the walking speed is up and puzzles are more complex and varied. If those two elements aren't dramatically improved I'm steering far away from it. For a large part of this relatively short game I was wondering how much more I would have to play before it was over. So I don't think I'd recommend it (outside of the categories above) even on sale and certainly not at full price. Before you buy watch part of a play through and see if you think the pacing looks reasonable.
G-D-D-G-C
2D puzzle adventure platforming, with that minimalist, emotional aesthetic popular in indie games. The art style is fantastic, often looking like a painting. The puzzles aren't very challenging, so the journey keeps moving forward at a good pace. This game has Stealth, but it's really a mechanism for puzzle gameplay since there's usually exactly one way to get past enemies. Copious checkpoints prevent less patient gamers from feeling frustration from repeated failures. There's an achievement for having ZERO failures. Running a full playthrough without dying seems doable, but I've got better things to do.

Planet of Lana is just a really relax and fun game. The world looks amazing, and the puzzles are nice but rather easy most of the time. Controlling Lana and her little buddy feels smooth, and the story hits in a quiet but cool way. It’s one of those games that’s just nice to play and sticks with you after.

Super fun game, loved the puzzles, only struggled with one and had to look up the answers. If you like games like inside this could be for you, it’s not as dark but it has that similar feeling. I do recommend this, especially for people new to gaming.

If you've enjoyed puzzle platformers like LIMBO, this is it. I have enjoyed solving the puzzles, but if you go for multiple playthoughs for achievements, it can be a drag: Cutscenes cannot be skipped.

This game looks amazing, with beautiful music and sound effects. The gameplay is linear platforming with some puzzles. I enjoyed especially the first half of the game, the second half had me at times wanting to throw my laptop against the wall. I'm playing with mouse and keyboard, so this feels probably different when a gamepad is used, but the parts in the game where
Mui has to ride on the robot
felt atrocious to play with keyboard controls. The movement was overshooting all the time, even with sensitivity turned down to 5%. Otherwise the controls felt ok. Another thing that made gameplay slightly annoying at times is the lack of keyboard mapping.

I got this game for 5€ on sale in 2025. Pros: * it's beautiful * use of camera, music and sound design were excellent * beginner friendly (plenty of checkpoints, no death scenarios) * clearly motivated storyline with a clear objective Cons: * Lots and lots of "hold the controller stick to the right and just walk" -- I understand that this is for the atmosphere and indeed, while you're just holding the stick, you can watch a beautiful vista move by. But for a game I often felt a bit disconnected from the action. * no real idea about how much progress one has made towards the goal Overall, for the price I got it, it was a worthwhile experience. Full price however I would consider a bit too much. I finished the game in roughly 6 hours in a single sitting.

I thought I'd reviewed this immediately after completing, but apparently I didn't. So using my memory to the best of my ability. Planet of Lana punches above its weight in respect of art style, sound design and soundtrack. All three are an absolute delight and massively enhance the gameplay. The soundtrack, especially, has absolutely no right to be as good as it is. This wouldn't have been cheap to write and record, but it was money well spent. The core gameplay isn't anything earth-shattering, I'll grant you. The puzzling isn't overly tricky, but the game is generally a pleasure to wallow in. New mechanics are introduced sensibly, so what learning curve there is still has a sensible gradient. I've seen complaints about movement being rubbish - I call BS, because it's not the kind of game that needs super tight control. Everything works as it needs to, so any problems with movement I'm happy to attribute to a skill issue on behalf of the player. The story—to the extent that there is one—is surprisingly emotive for how threadbare it is. With no dialogue, everything else is doing the heavy lifting and it does it well. The music and voice acting both work overtime to sell the story really well. Combined, all of the above work to elevate an "okay" puzzle platformer to a genuinely lovely experience. I look forward to enjoying the sequel in 2026

I really do love walking sims, but this is more of a puzzle platformer and contradicts my views of a good walking sim or platformer: * The puzzles are easy, which is not necessarily a problem, but the character moves so slowly that they are painful to solve. * The landscape is very repetitive and I do not get the feeling that I am exploring it.

If you took GRIS and added the pet from Neva without all the combat mechanics, that would be similar to this game. This game has a more interesting living world rather than wandering through a drug trip like GRIS. I look forward to the sequel. On the down side, like all puzzle games like this its not super long. I already played through all of it, apparently in six hours but it was well worth what I paid for it I think.

The emotional soundtrack and Ghibli-style art truly elevate the visual and atmospheric experience. However, the story feels pretty average, with minimal dialogue, and the puzzles are fairly simple and not very challenging. Overall, I’d give it a 7.4 out of 10." Mui ui i 🐱

I personally enjoyed this game very much. It is relatively short, can be finished within 5 hours, and even with silly mistakes, it took 6 hours for me to complete it. Overall a stress free experience. 8.5/10. Keyboard controls are fine. The one thing I learned is not to crouch near edges because the character will try to get down from the ledge, and if there is an enemy nearby, that will end badly. A deathless run is possible but I opt out from doing so because it would have ruined the game for me. Graphics, art style. I absolutely love it, The amount of details packed into this while still managing to look quite simplistic is fascinating, beautiful. It is a type of art style that makes me wish I could do the same. Puzzles. I enjoyed that it was easy to figure out the solutions but takes a moment to execute. If i was doing a deathless run I would have turned the game off withing an hour though. They do get harder but the difficulty rises very gently. The character is not fast. The speed of the character can be a hit or miss for some players. I can understand why she cannot run too fast or she takes a while to pull herself up from a ledge. It is to show what type of person she is to us, which is why some reviews say it is a walking simulator. Personally did not see this as an issue, even added a positive light to my experience, but each to their own, However, more than anything this is a story. The history of this world is scattered throughout the environment and by the time you reach the end, you would have unconsciously put the pieces together if the needed attention was given. I think the story hits the emotional beats pretty well. The music made me tear up in certain sections, and sound plays a big part in the whole game. Genuinely the mild amount of frustration I felt towards the controls/my movement skills all disappeared when I reached a certain point and experienced a specific soundtrack. Next, the language the characters use. This game can be technically said to have no dialogue, but this world does have its own made up language which is simple to understand since they give plenty of context with actions, emotions and repetitive usage. Though minimal, the people who voiced these did an excellent job.
One of the instructions we can give to our cat companion is "stay there/ wait here." My heart exploded when I heard Lana use that phrase while crying. That simple instruction which was only relevant to game-play before was now used as her begging Mui not to die in her arms, to stay with her. Maybe I am dramatic, but this showed me the true beauty of this game.
I bought this on a discount. I am a person who only buys games on discount so I have no advice on that part.

This game was a cinematic masterpiece. Every level was beautifully designed and i enjoyed every second. The achievements were fun to try and get, this game will be my first game I've gotten all the achievements for. My only critique is that you cannot skip any of the "cut scenes." While they are enjoyable and play a big role in the story when you first play, running the game over and over again to try and beat it without dying and having to watch the cut scenes over and over again became irritating. Other than that, I highly recommend this game. It was a fantastic experience! 10/10 would play again.

A fairly laid back platformer with not-too-difficult puzzle elements. There perhaps isn't quite as much action as some would like, but I thought it nicely paced, and the quieter sections are never a chore because the game is so consistently beautiful to look at and listen to. There are varied environments and some real artistry in the design. It follows the Little Nightmares formula of dialogue-free, audiovisual storytelling, though isn't as dark or intense. I really enjoyed it.

I'm absolutely loving this game so far and have no complaints but one: I'm playing with a controller as suggested but for some reason the option for Mui to sit atop a robot under my control never shows up?? I've tried with controller and keyboard controls but the button never shows up. I've made it past the first area this action was needed by jumping over the robot while it was in the air and before it was tamed, and Mui sat on it and everything worked. Now I'm at the area with the large fans and there's no way to get Mui atop the robot while it's flying, and there is no option for Mui to sit on it once it's no longer active. This glitch means I cannot finish the game which is very frustrating because otherwise I am absolutely loving everything about it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!! edit: nvm yall im so stupid everything works great love this game so much beautiful story i love mui so much love the visuals and the soundtrack and the puzzles and creepy creatures hell yeah

This is such a beautiful and heartwarming game. I just lost a sister and I was looking for a game to help with my grief. I've played Spiritfarer and Gris before and though they're in my list of favourites, I knew they would be too much for me right now. Planet of Lana might bore players who are looking for bigger adventures or more complex mechanics. But this is exactly what you need when you're looking for a game with a heartfelt story, where you can take your time and marvel at the beautiful scenery, enjoy discovering pieces of the story as it unfolds, and let the music be a balm to your soul. I specially loved (and cried) during that cinematic experience in the desert where night turned to day and they played the song Horizons. I'm so grateful I bought this game and the second one is already in my wishlist. It's a difficult time for me but in the end, the game experience delivered and it brought me a sense of peace. P.S. Be prepared to be emotionally attached to Mui.

Planet of Lana was a delightful surprise! Short and sweet, it doesn't waste a moment of your time as you 2d puzzle platform from gorgeous local to gorgeous local. Some of the best art design in genre! Kinda like a bit Ueda x Moebius watercolor thing going on. Love it! Nothing brain-busting here. Just strap in and enjoy the Ueda-tinged vibes, gameplay, and simple but touching story. And the music! Takeshi Furukawa is on point (and adds even more to the Ueda vibes). Really beautiful music that is definitely going to be spun outside of the game. Huge recommendation! The sequel will certainly be a day one buy! Ran flawlessly on a Deck oled at 45fps, Ultra settings.

A relatively short and simple but beautifully executed puzzle-platformer that relies on enviromental storytelling. Great for children or if you just want a comfort game. + Beautiful art direction and work + The story is told pseudo-wordlessly: the humans talk (particularly Lana) but its purpousefully gibberish language. You are expected to make sense on what you see, not just told. =The puzzles are mostly simple and straightforward. You might still die a few times but nothing is very complicated. At most you will have one or two puzzles that require particular timing. Not a problem for me but do moderate your expectations. - Quick-time events. I always hate them and the game just has them towards the end of the game. They are, in fairness, not to hard and stick to ABXY buttons, but still. Either make it clear that the game has QTEs from the start and make it clear when to expect them, or don't have them at all. The game does the worst version where you suddenly just have them. Steam deck performance: the performance may lag in certain scenes with demanding effects, but otherwise most of the game was fine on High on native resolution. No issues experienced.

I'm not the sort of person to cry at films, let alone video games but I swear this game nearly had me! The graphics, soundtrack, sound design and voice acting are all incredibly immersive and serve both the story and emotional elements perfectly. The level design is also very fun and challenging (there is no shame in looking up a couple of tutorials as some levels can be especially difficult!) In short, I can't truly do the game justice and so I would HIGHLY recommend trying it out.

The art style is stunning and refreshing. Loved Mui and the related interactions. The puzzles were suited for the play style/level of the game. Some aspects like exploration and stealth was repetitive, but its generally expected on this game type. If looking for a casual, ~5hr play through without much thought, then it is worth the play.

Great game! Visuals and difficulty are on point (maybe a couple of puzzles are bullsh**, but that's still OK), and the story is nice. It ran just fine on a work laptop like mine, so everyone should have enough hardware power to run it as well. To get closer to perfection, the achievement for beating it without dying should probably be removed, but oh well...
