Amerzone - The Explorer's Legacy

This is a very pretty game, but there are issues. Despite being modern graphics, it is still point and click. You can't walk where you like, only where the arrows take you. And sometimes those transitions are painfully slow. Effectively, this means that when you pick an arrow, you sit and wait while your character wanders off in the right direction before coming to a halt once more. But my main problem is with the story. Like with a lot of his work, the story is weak and the ending unsatisfactory. I know this dates back to a time when game stories were often a bit daft, and hadn't gone through the tough editorial process a book does, but I have found this with all his stories. Should you play it? Why not. It is good looking and atmospheric. The puzzles are straight forward and it is a sensible length. You might well enjoy it, despite its kinks.

A beautiful point and click. Some of the puzzles are tricky (like figuring out a combination) and some things can be easily missed. But the story and the Adventures make up for it. At least for me. I like how after you play, you can go back to a certain Chapter to replay, but it keeps all your original investigation notes. One of the reasons I have such high hrs is because I would forget to pause it when I took a break. So it probably takes less time to play. Maybe.

I have always loved the games done by Benoit. Syberia one two and three were excellent and the newer Amerzone is engrossing. Highly recommend to someone who loves a mystery and excellent scenery with smooth transitions. It makes you feel as you are there.

I played the original game but this version is even more beautiful. Thank you M Sokal. We will miss your art.

Impressive puzzle / mystery / walking simulator game. The art and sound are exquisite. The themes and story are interesting. A good nod to old school puzzle games.

Excellent remake of the first game based on a Sokal IP. I have played the original back in the ancient times. This is a great modernization of it that feels so familiar. Great work on this by microids.

What a great Remake! If Syberia gets this amount of love too, we are in for a nice year of remembering Benoît Sokal!
