I want to like this one, because the music is good and the artstyle is fun. But actually playing it? Well, the vibes are off. The action just doesn't pop, and I find myself taking damage far more than other games. All because the character feels a bit like a tank, and using ranged stops you in place. I feel like it just one or two balance patches to add a bit of variety to levels and builds.

So sad to hear that this is a devs last game. They did go out with a bang cause this game is AMAZING. Great combat, fun meta progression and the medieval punk vibes are fun! https://youtu.be/FXBBwWBPj7A

Highly recommend this to any one looking for a game similar to Hades, although no where near as good as Hades. Mechanically Reignbreaker was very enjoyable, if not that new or complex. But it did kept me engaged throughout the main story, and then I did keep playing in the end game trying out different builds on each run. For game play you will be making runs through the bastion and raiding vaults to get powered up until you die, you then lose all your power ups and return to your hub. At which point you can buy some permanent upgrades with the currency you hopefully gained during your run. Story and character wise, fun but shallow. Like the name suggested, you play as Clef trying to overthrow a corrupt monarque. All the characters are serviceable but not special. But again they did keep me engaged until the end. Lastly it ran fine, I had no problems at all playing it on my mid laptop. Overall i would give Reignbreaker a 7/10. Not perfect, but you won't regret buying it.

I tried to get into it, but I think there are better Roguelites you should explore first. I'd still recommend as it's got a more kid friendly tone than most. The problem is some of the voice-lines, even passive ones that help direct you where to go, suffer from the 'Navi' problem Ocarina of Time had, only more so because it's the MC and it's for almost every instance you find a door or gate you can't open, which when each stage is structured in a similar way, you encounter it a lot. Some of the sound effects for story dialogue seem tinny aswell, like they're muffled. Definitely got interesting visuals but with the studio that made it is shutting down, so it feels like more of a unfinished game than one intended for release and there aren't great signs it'll be updated. Definitely pick it up if you're curious but be aware of what the game is going in.

First things first: Killer Intro Song! Overall I had a great time with it. Loved the artstyle and music. Gameplay is very Hades'esque and thats a good thing in my book. Story and Characters where nice, I especially liked the Vandals. Sad to see them closing shop, would have loved to see what else could have come out of this studio in the future.
