Very fun game, Despicable developers. R.I.P Soter Dave

Bought the game almost on release when it came out EPIC. Played more than 2000 hours. Got to level 1000 and beyond that. Game is good, animations are good, combat is good, net code is decent. Simple hack and slash game. Community is full of extremely sensitive children that would cry about anything. The developers are even worse. Admins would either mute or perma-ban you if they don't like you without any explanation whatsoever. A prominent member of the community (Soter Dave) committed suicide a while ago. The admin team intransigent behavior contributed a lot to it. Even after his death they continued acting the same with no regards to the people that actually purchased the game. The real problem the admin team has never taken care of? The cheaters. You would find them flying around the map killing multiple people in a matter of seconds. Stay away from this one.

It's a very fun game, but not one i can recommend in sane conscience. Players are getting banned left and right either with little or no evidence, or for simply calling out Torn Banner's inaction on the rampant hacking that occured, while griefers, hackers and exploiters (especially if they're moderators, at least in SA) don't get even a slap on the wrist. SA 64 player Team Objective servers being horrendously laggy for months with no fixes, its "Social" servers are filled with griefers and NA and SEA servers filled with cheaters with very little if not at all done about it whatsoever. Oh, there's also that one (now former) Community Manager telling people to "simply upgrade their consoles and PCs if they wished to continue playing" because the company apparently couldn't be bothered to optimize their maps, since there are constantly people calling out differing performances on some maps, let alone how easy it is to get stuck on some maps' geometry or just fall off of the map altogether. You can trust Torn Banner to make a good game - sometimes, you know how No More Room in Hell 2 and Mirage Arcane Warfare turned out, but sure as hell not to run it properly or assure its quality, and it's horribly disappointing.

I bought the game and DLC together on the sale and I was really excited to play this game, but I ran into a 30005 error right away. It seems to be related to the Windows Integrity Core system which was so stupid that I would have to disable it and reboot the system just play the game every single time, and I wasn't comfortable disabling that. So I had to refund the game without even getting to try it. To make matters worse, I still haven't been refunded for the consumable DLC, which I couldn't even use because the game wouldn't launch. It's incredibly frustrating to pay for content that's unusable.

First of all this game is pretty good, the combat and its mechanics is really fun, the tutorial is very helpful, learning curve is not too steep and the game itself is very immersive with multiple maps and factions filled with its own lore. Unfortunately I can't enjoy my First Person Medieval hack and slash experience while the game is filled with high lvl Tryhards using Third Person view trying to get the best advantage playing the game and trashing on low lvl players. Its a Multiplayer game so it naturally comes with a competitive element, i don't mind that but I really want to enjoy this game in First Person view and I can't. Its not for me, but hey if you don't mind with everything I've just said maybe this game is for you!

Good game, unfortunately its now a dead game. Devs decided to stop updating the game and its only alive thanks to the +/- 3000 players who play regularly. The combat and gore is satisfying, the game might be difficult at first but you do have a tutorial giving you all the basics in combat. The maps are magnificent and the progression mechanics are "fair" basically you can kill any player with anything you have, might be a sword, stick, sh!t or an apple or a litteral pig to throw on them (yes you read that right). During my experience, there were a few minor bugs and i only had 2 games with cheaters. I would reccomend as long as there are at least a 1000 players (below this number its not fun to play)

I'be been a fan of Mordhau for a good while, loving it (admittedly, almost exclusively for the fashion. But slashing around was fun too). Then I decided to get on this game too after seeing the two-headed polehammer with that lovely handguard, so here I am! Admittedly, I can only really compare this game to Mordhau since I've only experienced the rest of the slasher genre of games through tiny temporary free weekends or the Mirage: Arcane Warfare beta. But still, the impression I've had is that this is a delightfully modernized version of this kinda game, free from a handful of excessively complex mechanics while still being full of fancy mechanics to cleverly make use of in the fights. It doesn't have the full class customization freedom Mordhau has, either, but that actually might be an advantage, since each subclass actually has a dedicated flavor of its own, encouraging one to play in different ways. Fashion-wise, although I certainly miss the inmense level of customization freedom seen in Mordhau, I do have to say that the few fashion options we DO get are often pretty neat and well made, having pleasant amounts of bulk and ornamentation too, if you know where to look. I also like that there's actual lore and a story to this game, shown in each map and stuff, which makes the objective-based matches feel pretty engaging, honestly! If you haven't played any of these games, learning to fight can be tricky and take time, lots of it. But given enough time you might develop the right instincts for it. And honestly, once you do, it feels really enjoyable to get the occasional kill or even out-trick an opponent with a kick or jab to make way for a strike.

Was such a fun game loved it but the cheating problem was and most likely is still very bad however instead of doing anything they banned a youtuber who's whole youtube channel was praising the game and just nice content over a April fools joke and permanently banned all his accounts and shortly after he took his own life

kinda unfair when you put veteran lvl 500+ again a newbie with lvl 50 below. the match making takes too long. the ping sometimes can a be a bit of a pain. overall it's a fun games. just wish there was a ranked system so that the newbies could atleast getting themself accustomize with the mechanic of the game. and no the bot match making suck and soulless!

souls like noob here, never touched a souls , I wanted to test my new GPU and I love ancient medieval wars mythology so I went in expecting something more like a classic 3rd person action adventure thing, I'm a massive casual, though I game often. the game is too hard for me, and I'm bummed out because it is gorgeous. the visuals are breathtaking but the gameplay is not for me sadly.

Would be fantastic, were it not for the fact that literally EVERY match consists of one team of new players and semi experienced players, and the other stacked with level 500 plus and all the level 1000 players. Until they take manual team balance out, this game can never be more than mediocre. I imagine it kills their new player retention. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of new players gets a refund within the first two hours. Shame Edit: SO. MANY. HACKERS

This was once one of my favorite games, and indeed the gameplay good and fun. However, this is not all (at least for me). In every other game, the chat is full with racists, homophobes, and other haters. Moreover, I see almost every night a cheater (speed hacker) breezing through the players and "winning" the match. There is no moderation in most of the games, and voting such people out is almost impossible. All this takes all the fun for me. Don't buy, not even on sale.

Chivalry 2 had everything it needed to become one of the greatest medieval combat games of today. With an almost unique combat system and no real competition since the end of Mordhau, Torn Banner had a true gem in its hands. However, the company failed miserably to value it. The party and friends system is, without exaggeration, one of the worst I’ve ever seen — unstable, confusing, lacking Steam integration, and extremely limited, making even playing with friends a frustrating task. The absence of any real clan support structure exposes a clear disregard for the community, forcing players to resort to improvised solutions like adding tags to their Steam names. To make matters worse, the moderation is highly questionable: skilled players are often banned under suspicion of cheating instead of being recognized for their talent. And as if all that weren’t enough, Torn Banner has officially announced that it will no longer release content updates for the game, effectively abandoning a title that had the potential to be so much more.

This game is dying, and the developers killed it. I first went into a lobby and asked what people would say if they were writing a review for this game. They listed their individual hours and gave reasons for why they believe the game is terrible. Some of the hours of these players are higher than my own. They complain that the game has many bugs, and that their are many mechanics that are being abused, when they should just be fixed outright. Many have claimed that there is a consistent bug where a weapon can faze through a defense. Another claim was that the game has several connection issues. You connect to South Asia before ever connecting to say North American East, at least in my own experience. People say the teams must be random because the "autobalance" is not skill based, but count based. And the realization to the new players when they see there wont be new content for this game. All completely valid. The community is terribly toxic. The servers are shit. The matchmaking is shit. The game is slowly dying off. Hardly any bug fixes for the game. It has been two months since the last one. Game is full of cheaters, anti-cheat does not work at all. The developers left the game after only twelve major content updates. Which I am thankful for, do not get me wrong. I just feel as though they rushed to the end more than anything. Definitely needs a bunch of work that they would rather not do. Which blows! If you are wondering why people still play the game i can almost certainly tell you it is simply to shit on other players. Both by text and literally beating their ass at the game. There is no other reason to play this game........ NO CAMPAIGN, NO MISSIONS, straight up only multiplayer and all you do is fight with swords. If this sounds fun to you give it a whirl, just get it on sale because it is not worth anything above 15$. It is like For Honor but with nothing special, just as toxic, and no future updates! :)

You'll get temp banned because people kicked you from threes for not teaming. Awesome game, but the community alone makes it not worth it at all. Also the matchmaking for 3's is unreal bad, sometimes it just decides you can't play anymore and spends hours disconnecting you. Going to keep playing it because man is the melee combat addicting but this game 100% earns the bad review for the community and servers alone. That part is just a terrible experience. For a game called Chivalry there sure is an astounding lack of it in this game.

Game mechanics, game design, aesthetics, are all top tier. The concept of this game rewards patience, and diligence. It can be a richly rewarding experience, and is infinitely amusing for a plethora of reasons. That being said, the cheating in the game is out of control. I won't expand on this, rather I will make a clear statement that I pointed this out in the discussion forums, in a reasonable manner, only to get promptly banned by moderators. This indicates that not only is the game filled with toxic children (who by the way can have you kicked and locked out of servers if you point out their conduct), effectively destroying the experience I paid for, the moderators are equally toxic in their over-reaching censorship of opinion. I cannot in good conscience rate this game positively. I played it excessively on the PS5, where each update made the game worse, and destroyed my ability to play due to the disregard for Australian servers, and even then, exploits were being abused by skill-less hacks. So I have bought this game twice now, only to have my genuine concerns silenced by over-reaching, & or woke moderators. This industry has never had effective regulatory oversight, and the free range ability to silence people is only adding to the problem. The developers, and their moderators, are shameful in their conduct, and do not deserve to be spoken of in positive terms.

Chivalry 2 is a wild, visceral throwback to the glory days of medieval warfare—where swords clash, arrows fly, and chaos reigns supreme. It’s the perfect multiplayer melee combat game if you’ve ever wanted to storm a castle, hack through enemies with brutal animations, and yell battle cries with friends. The game nails the feel of medieval combat, with a satisfying mix of timing, skill, and strategy. Whether you’re wielding a massive greatsword, a nimble dagger, or a trusty bow, each weapon feels distinct and weighty. The combat system rewards patience and precision over button-mashing, making every successful parry or headshot incredibly gratifying. Maps are large and varied, with objectives like siege assaults, defending fortresses, or capturing flags that keep matches dynamic and engaging. The carnage is often chaotic but controlled enough to keep things fun without feeling overwhelming. Visually, Chivalry 2 brings medieval battles to life with impressive gore effects, detailed environments, and fluid animations. The sound design—clanging metal, battle cries, and thundering hooves—really immerses you in the battlefield frenzy. The only real downside is that the learning curve might frustrate newcomers initially, and some matches can get unbalanced if one team dominates early on. Still, with active servers and regular updates, the game continues to thrive. If you’re craving brutal, skillful melee combat with friends or foes, Chivalry 2 delivers an exhilarating medieval brawl that’s hard to put down. Rating: 7/10

A good game with a brisk linear setting for multiplayer, with varied localities as well: there's a riff on the French countryside, a typical castle setting from European fantasy, but there's also maps based on a Middle-Eastern/North African country which appears to be named after Tunisia (Tenosia in the game).

If you play 64 player, "Chivarly 2" is Battlefield with swords. If that doesn't sell you. What will? I originally started this game off the Xbox pc game pass. Got to level 250. Once, I realized the Steam version had text chat. I knew I had to make the switch. This game's only problem is the network. Matching with friends that do use Xbox pc game pass is a pain. Even getting some Steam friends to play with you is a pain. The only saving grace is server browser. Flourish of Dualyard is the best server. I have spent 6+ hours in that server. Torn Banner better make a third Chivarly. I don't know how this game isn't their golden goose. This is probably one of the best mutiplayer experiences I have ever played. Again, this game would be on another level if it had proxy chat. Bows are ho3s.

Very on the edge of whether to recommend or not. Underneath many terrible flaws the core mechanics are fun. The melee combat is really good, I hate the range combat though. I don't want to be killed by people 30 meters away that are impossible to defend against or attack. If it was purely melee combat and throwable weapons, no bows and ballistas, it would be perfect imo. Ranged combat is cool for historical accuracy, but lame from a game design perspective - For Honor used to have this same problem with Shinobi until they removed his ranged attacks too. Or at least make a gamemode without ranged and one with ranged. Getting one shot 10 times in a row by something you can't defend against while you try to breach a wall is completely lame. Many of the maps are half-baked too. Funneling 64 people into extremely tiny spaces so everyone is just stuck at the doorways is just bad design. Not to mention how all the maps are extremely attacker sided until the very last section, it just makes it feel terrible to ever play defender. The colors are also crap, some maps I can't even tell whose on whose team due to them blending with the environment (like yellow armor on yellow sand) - and some armor sets let the enemy have neutral colors so its impossible to tell from a glance which team they are on. The bugs are another fairly big downside. Anytime you play with a friend in a party you need to quit the game and rejoin after leaving a lobby. So many party bugs. Combat is less buggy than Chiv 1, but I frequently still get people hitting me facing 180 degrees away from me, though maybe thats just the hitboxes on some weapons being overly insane or laggy. Look at top tier duelists and you'll see its just the same spinny crap as Chiv 1. Overall though the melee is very good, and with a few changes I would just as easily recommend the game - it has been a somewhat fun if often rage inducing 30 hours.

**IMPORTANT - READ** I was having issues launching this game - relevant issues here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5FIMiJtlWs Basically - Disable security on your computer, making is more vulnerable to malicious attacks OR run the game without easy anticheat - everything works as normal allegedy, and risk your entire EAC game library. no thanks, not risking security, or the thousands of dollars of games i bought- just on a chance to play this game that wont sacrifice some money to hire non-retarded developers who actually know how to dev.

The game is fun and has a great pace, but the cheater problem is a big issue. It’s enjoyable when matches go fair, but running into obvious cheaters kills the mood fast. If they ever fix that, it could be a solid and consistent experience.

don't expect much from the developers, but it's a fun time. UI is pretty awful. in order to check your class level, you have to be in a game? or go to customization, and click on helmet. 3 years ago reddit post complained about this...nothing changes lol. same thing about leaving a match. match ends, you have about 5 seconds to leave, and god forbid you leave too early or too late and you're stuck loading again. another post complained about this from 2 years ago. still nothing. devs seem happy to let the game coast, fortunately it is gorgeous and has a great base, just wish it was given some consistent love. it's pretty much been "set and forget," as far as i can tell.

It's crazy how unfun this game is. My first experience in a real match, running up to a wall of immobile knights bodyblocking the only path to the archers was, I'll admit, brilliant strategy and simultaneously truly miserable gameplay. In this short burst of gameplay I had an epiphany of what the next thousand hours of gameplay would be like for me and then I came to the realization that I'd rather remove my own kneecaps with rusty spoons than proverbially get good at this game. I can only suggest it if you have already been playing it and have a group of friends who also already play it.
