Interesting concept. The new units, faction, and mechanics added are cool and the graphical overhaul is gorgeous. There are new enemy types introduced, and they are simply gorgeous renditions of the majestic real life insects, and fun to fight against in the game as well. The devs blew everything out of the water with this DLC, except in the level department.
Of the 2 levels added, the one where you fight the fire ants is completely unbalanced. I wish I hadn't wasted my time on that bullshit level. The other level added is just a repurposed level from the story mode. They are noticeably missing things other levels have, such as narration, story, events, extra challenges, etc. Beating these levels don't even give you resources or anything like the other game levels. They aren't connected whatsoever to anything in the main game and are simply disjointed, unrelated bonus levels found in a submenu. It's jarring just how good everything else is compared to how low quality the new levels are.
No offense to the devs, I am not trying to devalue their work or talent. Make no mistake, I'm not saying the studio produces low quality content - I'm saying this one needed more time in the oven. If you buy this DLC, buy it for the new units, factions, and enemies. Otherwise you will be disappointed.
