When I fused my Pixie, it said that the Pixie left a note that was covered in tears. 0/10 game. Depression incarnate. Real talk, I want more of this. Action-JRPG MegaTen is peak gameplay. This is a great remaster. It fixes what needed to be fixed, and it kept all the little interesting details and of-the-time quality that made the game stand out when it originally released. Remake the second game, then make a new third game. Then make Raidou the new face of the series, as he is the best boi. This is an irrefutable fact. Thank you.

This is the best way to play Raidou, and 100x better than the joke of a "remaster" Nocturne HD was. Tons of QOL updates, game performs great. Gonna play it on Steam Deck later, but I imagine it runs just as well. Great stuff guys, hopefully we get more stuff of this quality in the future.
Raidou's back hee-ho!~
Of all the older Megaten games, I thought Raidou had the smallest chance of ever coming back. But here we are. Also, you can control TWO DEMONS! Count 'em! One! TWO! That's a whole extra demon! (really though, the combat is even better than in the 2nd game, once you remember all the controls...)

extremely early review (I'm not through chapter 1 yet) but I played the PS2 version a couple years back and by the last dungeon I quit playing because that game was such a slog. this? from the tutorial battles alone I saw more variety in Raidou's moveset than the entirety of the original PS2 game. I'm giving it a positive review for that alone and in hopes they remake more Megaten games like this.

This is what remasters should be, actual improvement of the game, not just slight texture overhauls. I thought Raidou would be abandoned to the PS2 but Atlus is on a streak of bringing their old catalogue to steam. Now there's definitely a good chance for Digital Devil Saga to get a PC port and hopefully even an SMT 4 port. The game itself is a little pricey, but with how much better the gameplay is and the amount of much needed QOL features added, it almost feels like playing a different game while still keeping that old, PS2 era vibe the original had.

Raidou was in need a refresh and boy did Atlus deliver. So far, this is a very high quality remake. Well done. Hey Atlus, while you're at it want to give Digital Devil Saga a go?

Remakes that actually fix the problems with the original game and aren't just cash-ins are rare. While this is a cash-in by default, being an Atlus game and all... This remake fixes the problems with Raidou 1 completely. The stiff combat that made Raidou 1 so inferior to 2 is completely gone and replaced by fun and fluid battle system that's better than even the one in 2. Raidou 1 badly needed a remake and they fully delivered. Honestly i would have never expected this to happen. Now both Raidou games are good.

This game is more than just a remaster, it's a beautiful way to remake a game for both old and new fans. They truly took away some of the elements that made the original game unbearable (like figuring out your own way now being replaced with actual objectives in the map) while also keeping elements that make this remaster still feel like the original (such as the camera being at set places rather than you being able to control it) Combat wise the game feels a bit easier than the first game, especially now being able to summon two demons instead of one. I've also noticed that it is very easy to level up (or at least with the usage of DLC) I have been able to get to level 20 without doing any encounters in the demon realm but simply using the items given at some DLC's I'm kind of surprised they decided not to allow players to fuse until after the first visit to the demon realm. In the original you were able to meet up with dr victor as soon as you enter tsukudu-cho The trophies so far look quite the similar to your average atlus game with the only "grindy" part being getting all demons in your list, but so far the trophies are mostly based on gameplay. To conclude it all I believe this remaster has a lot of potential to make new players enjoy the SMT franchise (even though Raidou is not really following the traditional JRPG style SMT tends to have) and so far I have been experiencing nothing but good stuff. My only complaint is how the game tends to have a frame drop every now and then, which I believe is nothing but a minor optimization issue.

I played the original on the PS2 for a couple of hours before putting it down, it was boring to me. But this is honestly really good. This is a remake, I'm not sure why they slapped remaster in the title. Well done Atlus! If only you put this much effort into Nocturne HD.

Atlus have learned how to make a remaster from their previous mistakes. Everything on display is a vast improvement from the original, and it keeps what works from the original completely in-tact. Highly recommend anyone interested in action rpgs or the wider SMT franchise to give it a shot (We might get another Raidou game one day!)

surely this is a sign that a smtiv+apocalypse and dds duology remaster is a possibility... right? game is good, looks about what you expect for a game that also releases on the switch. finally another good atlus game for my soul.

An actually good remaster, and one that isn't horribly overpriced. They improved the visuals, added voice acting and it improves upon the original in every way when it comes to combat. Give the first chapter a try if you are curious about the game, it should hook you instantly with the detective work and devil summoning. For any Persona only people that want to give this a try, but didn't like SMT for its lack of character interactions, this game should hopefully be a nice middle ground. You won't be getting a full team of friends in battle or anything but the other human characters, and the cat, get their fair share of screen time.

Fantastic entry point to the Shin Megami Tensei series. Very fun and whimsical. I Highly recommend for those that want to experience a different flavour of the JRPG.

Raidou remastered is somewhere between a remaster and a remake. The core of the original game is 100% there, but the combat system is completely remade compared to the original. I LOVED the original raidou game, bit I couldn't finish it. I made it all the way to the end, but I couldn't finish the boss rush at the end. The original games combat was too stiff and rudimentary. Raidou remastered is the perfect remake. It is almost 100% the original game, but prettier. At the same time they fixed almost every single complaint I had with the original. It is simultaneously the same game and a better game built from the ground up. I love raidou, the story, the setting, the vibes, the mystery and finally I love the combat. This game is a great hack and slash spinoff of smt and I hope all the turn based haters can find some joy in this deep cut. Finally raidou is back, and I hope we get the sequel very soon, and maybe a raidou 3. Bless u atlus, thanks for another great game.

Nothing hits like Kazuma Kaneko's art style, now in HD! I really hope this is a sign Atlus is keen on refreshing older titles with a bit more heart. I know I'm not the only one that would like to see Persona 1 and 2 finally get acknowledged.

The game forces you to recruit the sick freak, and arguably worst demon in the franchise, Ukobach, because Atlus knows that nobody would willingly want to take him. >_>

Quick disclaimer but I did play like 10 minutes of the original before dropping that, did feel pretty awful to play imo. Dropped this remaster 2 hours before the Steam refund threshold though. Strikes me as a "it's just ok" kinda game ngl. It's definitely a good REMASTER, don't get me wrong (like way better than Nocturne's was at least), but I just simply can't really get into it. The combat just feels super basic and a bit slow to me, if it was better, sure. Aside from it being basic, enemies feel like proper tanks unless you strike their weakness, and it does take a while to recharge magic as Raidou which is annoying (I know you can use the Demon SP, but it's a lot). Bearing in mind I've just been playing Stellar Blade before this, which is probably influencing my thoughts on it (if this game came before that, maybe it would be different, idk). But yeah, the premise feels cool, the plot looks like it could be good, and Raidou and the cat are epic, but the combat... yeah. I don't actually MIND BASIC combat if the game is either pretty short or it has something else going for it like a social sim or something mind you (look at Sakura Wars on PS4 for example). Also do feel free roaming in the town could do with a free camera tbh (I know Persona 3 and 4 don't but they're on a smaller scale with different angles). So yeah, it's alright, but definitely not 40 hour worthy for me. Power to you if you love it though :)

Would you like your Kuzunoha Tubes with a side of Neutral Special: Gun? A wonderful reimagining of the 2006 PlayStation 2 action RPG with its overhauled, fast-paced combat (especially the ability to wave your Second Amendment rights), and the freedom to create crazy demon builds. Set in the early 1900s (in the *totally real* Taisho 20), you take the helm of a young boy set out to claim the renowned title of the Kuzunoha clan and, eventually, investigate a series of strange occurrences going around Tokyo. It is your job as a Devil Summoner to tame and recruit demons (because these guys just LOVE to take on various forms to torture us humans; whether it be the suppressed ego of our minds, summoned by a zealous high school kid with computer programming skills in ASSEMBLY, or just chilling in the netherrealm) to your side to aid with your supernatural investigations. And that's about as much as I am allowed to say for now. Or you can cop the DLC that spoils the game for you, if you don't feel like skimming over the lore of a nearly 20-year-old game. P.S. living in the Amala universe has to suck
