Amazing story telling that goes hand in hand with game mechanics. It is a really well made game that just works, and has a beautiful story to tell. Works well in Linux.

Not a perfect game by any means but it is a solid cinematic-story-driven game. The gameplay mechanics are just okay, stealth is borderline okay, and the story could get a lot better in terms of writing. Other than that, amazing visuals and amazing soundtrack. Good voice acting too. The only thing that really impacted me was Amicia and Hugo's relationship, their journey and shared bond together amidst all the hopelessness surrounding them. The ending hits hard for me, it's a good ending in my opinion. That's all I can say without spoiling too much. It's worth it to play and experience this game for yourself, especially if you had played the prequel.

This is the greatest story I have ever experienced. As both a gamer and a reader, I’ve journeyed through countless worlds, met unforgettable characters, and lived through stories that moved me, but A Plague Tale: Innocence and Requiem didn’t just move me. They wrecked me, in the most beautiful way. This series transcends what I thought a game could be. It’s not just a narrative, it’s an emotional odyssey. I cried. I laughed. I grieved. I felt every moment of the journey like it was carved into my own soul. The stress, the terror, the flickers of joy - I lived them all. A Plague Tale is not just a masterpiece. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime story. Nothing will ever compare. 100000000000000000000000000/10 - Play them both and have your life change forever.

Geez what do i even say. Definitely more challenging then the first game, a perfect squeal. The story had me so emotional that ending broke me. There was also a scene when Amicia just breaks down alone in that small room that part was so heartbreaking. The relationship you have with the cast was so amazing. The story was so well written. I'm so glad i picked up this series on a whim after the announcement of the prequel STARRING SOPHIA!! She is so damn cool. All in all i enjoyed my playthrough of this and can not wait for the 3rd installment!

Probably the best 15h movie I have ever seen. 10/10 soundtrack. Only negative is the stutter you experience from time to time due to poor optimization. Turning off RTX shadows helped a bit, but sometimes the stutter got really frustrating and it did not matter what settings you used.

So much drama, so much whining from the main characters Amicia and Hugo.. This Game is tedious. Really it's turn based, because the game wants you to set this on fire and then do that and if you don't do the order right you die.. It's a very naggy game. Graphics are good. Wouldn't vote it down, it would be a neutral vote.

What a story! I was scared, I laughed, I fell in love, and yes… I cried. The emotional ride was unforgettable. And the gameplay? So unique and refreshing—unlike anything I’ve seen in other games. Truly something special.

A great example of a story driven single player game with the characters interactions changing slightly depending on how you choose to compete areas. I purchased on a discount and its great value at around the $30 mark.

A bit rough/hard in the beginning, but as you progress the game, it opens up and become a much more varied experience. It's dark and visually wonderful at times. I was captivated and it's difficult not to get watery eyes at times. I didn't...I just...know someone who...*cough*. Anyhoo, I did not play the first game. I might play it some day, but this was an emotional ride. I was drained in the end. I need a vacation now. Loved the game. A big thank you to the makers of this game. I hope for a number 3. one day.

loved this - I've also played the first game and loved it too. no probs running on my PC, perfect in fact. The intertwining of the story along with great gameplay was, for me, engaging and fun. I hear they are making another in this series; will look forward to it! and, btw, excellent ending (no spoilers from me) :)

Skipped not a single cut scene. While they are reasonably paced and placed as they are and don't disrupt the game in any way.... the story just sucks you in. It's unbelievable. Gripping, heart wrenching, terrifying, engaging - so is the game play with all mechanics. Some elements can be annoying at times, also the suspension of disbelief is sometimes just a bit too liberal. But all in all, this is the best game I've played in quite some time. It is a tale of the purest love imaginable - that of an innocent child, and that of his sister, a strong female lead second to no character I've seen in any game. Sorry Femshep, but Amicia is a worthy champion. I bought the bundle of both games in the sale, and played this one first. It turns out, this wasn't even a mistake, apart from the fact that it illustrated how much better this part is than its predecessor. We're talking orders of magnitude in my opinion. Most of the time, the game is rather linear, focused razor sharp on the story. One segment allows for a bit of an open world exploration which adds to the whole experience very positively. I do agree with some of the other reviews that this game should be played with the French voices (probably the original version), but although I understand it well enough to follow it roughly, it's tiresome after a while, with your eyes fixed on the subtitles. BUT the English voice acting in this one is superior to the predecessor game as well, shedding a somewhat flat delivery and a forced sounding French accent (the "worst" part about the first game) in favour of a truly heart felt rendition in a generic standard, somewhat posh English, which I can live very well with. I'm also very happy that the music is a very subtle player - while nerve wracking at times, but also gentle, flowing and peaceful at other times, it accompanies the gameplay perfectly, lacking (in a VERY good and welcome way) much of repetitive over-playing of themes and tunes - a reason why I opt to mute the music in lots of games. This is the game that made me write my first review: A 10/10 in my opinion - no negative points come to mind whatsoever, allowing me to be somewhat brief. Spoiler:
The game does not grant the gift of a happy ending. It is unavoidably tragic and saddening, but I applaud the developers for not doing it the easy way but give the story a *good* (and of course open) ending with enough of a hint of an uplifting sentiment to not be depressing
It's a nice stealth-based game with a lot of puzzles. Downside is developers have a very clear idea of how you should solve them (sometimes with a few alternates) and you have to read their minds to proceed.

I rarely write reviews for games, but this one truly deserves it. After finishing A Plague Tale: Requiem, I was left with an overwhelming sense of emptiness. Few games have ever come close to delivering such a powerful and lasting experience. It affected me so deeply that I do not even feel like playing anything else right now. Asobo Studio is something special. Their talent shines through every part of this game. The storytelling, the atmosphere, and the emotional depth all come together to create an unforgettable journey. It is a rare example of a game that feels both personal and masterfully crafted. On top of that, the visuals are absolutely breathtaking. The environments are rich with detail and beauty, often feeling like works of art. Every location is crafted with care, enhancing the emotional weight of the story in a way that few games manage.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a stunning, emotional sequel that takes everything from Innocence and makes it bigger, darker, and more intense. The story is heartbreaking and beautifully acted, with Amicia and Hugo’s bond driving the narrative forward. Gameplay mixes stealth and light combat with smart upgrades and more freedom in how you approach encounters. Visually, it’s incredible—especially the massive, terrifying rat swarms. It is a powerful and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.

There was only one issue when in the forest at a bridge and I somehow made it into unedited land. Rather bizarre but the music was awesome (if you like medieval music), play mechanics were fun but challenging, and the story was very interesting. One thing that I hated was how much they used the GD word in the game, they could have used substitutions. All in all, it was a short, but good game (about 14-15 hours to complete.)

What else is there to say about this beautiful game that you don't already know? Amicia De Rune and her brother Hugo return in this emotionally gripping sequel to the instant classic that was A Plague Tale: innocence. Their story is one of love, loss, and the never ending fight that engulfs their lives. Much like with the first game, Plague Tale: Requiem is not a game in the traditional sense; it is an experience that you will live alongside the wonderfully crafted characters as they grow and are forced into a maturity far beyond their ages. This story is one of the never ending fight that governs not only the character's lives, but that of our own as well. It is about the sacrifices these characters are willing to make, and how they continue to push forward against all odds. I would recommend this game to anyone, and it will remain one of my favorite games of all time. Keep up the fight my friends, and keep pushing forward even when the situation seems impossible.

Game is a heartwrenching and beautiful. There are some mechanics of the game that do bug out every now and then when playing. I am hoping to see those fixed; some examples include when Arnaud is in the cave and you cannot get the rat scent to work or when in the Temple opening the giant door with Sophia and your brother. Otherwise great game, and story. Greatly looking forward to next game.

The story is amazing, I love the gameplay and the art style. HOWEVER, it's extremely buggy in some places, a lot of the time these bugs make it super hard to progress through the story + soft lock me in areas. Overall it's a super great time though. Played it on xbox with 0 problems.

A Plague Tale: Requiem takes everything the first game did and cranks it up—especially in terms of story, visuals, and immersion. The narrative is even more intense and emotionally charged than the original, at least from what I’ve played so far. The first few chapters alone deliver some truly dramatic moments, paired with breathtaking scenes that feel almost cinematic in their direction and atmosphere. Graphically, it’s stunning. Yes, it’s heavy on the hardware—initially, I struggled a bit with performance. But after some tweaking, I was able to hit 60 FPS, and the effort was worth it. If you’ve got a high-end rig, you're in for one of the best visual experiences in modern gaming. That said, this isn’t a game that plays nice with lower-spec systems. I'd say 6 GB of VRAM is the bare minimum, 8 GB gives you a solid 1080p experience, and 12 GB+ is what you want for max settings and a smooth ride. Gameplay and controls have evolved since the first game. There are changes—some good, some that take getting used to—but overall, I adapted quickly, and they contribute to a more refined experience. All in all, Requiem is immersive, beautiful, and emotionally gripping. If you liked the first game, this one steps it up. Definitely recommended.

like part 1, very decent game, good story continuation. Added crosbow gives more freedom to the play style. Same as in the first game, slow walk/run animation is dominant again, which is why i honestly dont see the point in NG+, the game progresses way too slow. overall, its a nice game, and i do hope part 3 will come out eventually.

My main complaint is that the game gets a bit too supernatural at times. The game was never realistic and for the most part I have no problems with the supernatural rats (I knew what I what getting into), but when
a tide of rats levels a city
it feels a bit silly and personally it takes me out of the game a bit. I'm also not a fan of the
abstract nature
of the end sequence. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the game, there are just some parts that I found to be immersion breaking.

Once again, you play Amicia de Rune who is travelling around with her family (mostly with her little brother Hugo) and again there are rats invading. The gameplay is a bit improved in comparison with the first part. You don't need to colllect stones anymore, you get a crossbow and can carry a knife for an instakill (this is broken/lost after usage, so you must find another one for the next use). There are gnawed, burnt, tortured bodies, so the age rating is reasonable. The story is as dark as a middle age story with the plague, rats, an inquisition and supernatural powers can get. Though sometimes unbelievable fast recoveries happen, the overall story is well told and interesting enough. This is important, because partly, this is like watching a movie with short gameplay intermissions - especially during the last chapters. For the gameplay, Amicia uses her sling, hand, jars or the crossbow (only very few ammunition) with a handful of variations like default (throw stone), with fire (throw burning stone) or with water (throw wet stone that somehow puts out fire). Togethger with cranks, levers, chains, carts etc this is interesting enough to not get boring. Also: not many "sling shooters" out there. Music is great and graphics look splendid. => Great trip into medieval times if you like horror stories.

I really loved A Plague Tale: Innocence, and this one did not disappoint. I haven't finished the game yet but I can say that this game was worth the wait, the money and... well, you know what I mean. I'll update this after I've completed the game. UPDATE: It really did not disappoint. The graphics are a lot better and it was more challenging in terms of gameplay. The story, oh... heart-wrenching, especially the ending (still couldn't get over Hugo's death). Still amazing.THIS GAME IS SO GOOD IT MAKES ME WANNA PLAY MORE. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT <3 <3

The story of Plague Tale has always been interesting and you feel like you're on this journey of a lifetime to seek the truth with these characters and it provided with so much depth and emotion back in Innocence, but this time in Requiem, it's just building up even more. The game looks so fucking great, stunning, detailed and colorful and the sights at certain parts of the game are just too nice that it'll make you spin and look all over the place. The sound design is great, the voice acting is superb (although they did take away the French accent from them, so it’s mostly British now, but it's still great.) the music is even better than in the first game and the story is driven through a great struggle, expanding the characters we love and introducing new ones that just add to the party. Now, the game has it faults, of course, it feels like it was a bit long, maybe certain parts were dragging on here and there, but after everything was set and done and we see the conclusion of the adventure, the bad things start to fade away. At least for me. The only new addition is the crossbow, while most of the things remain the same. You still got puzzles, still got your standard dumbass soldiers and plenty and I mean... plenty of rats. If you think Innocence was crazy, Requiem is going to blow you away with everything it has going on. As you launch the game and sit in the main menu, you already get the feeling that this is going to be a sad, epic journey and trust me, if you're invested in the characters and feel for Hugo and Amicia, you'll be emotionally damaged with all the things these two must go through. If you played Innocence, you'll want to experience this. And if you didn't; Get into it, play Innocence and then this. I enjoyed the game immensely and can't wait to explore more of this world in a new perspective in Resonance.

What a tragic story, between live, death and destruction, behind beautiful locations and graphics. Some "sneaking" areas and situations are hideous to play, but I was still able to find my way. I recommend it because of the story, it has a lot ups and downs you will feel.

game itself is one of the best but settings aren't as simple as the PT:I . had to scroll up and down the setting for an hour just to turn off those AI enhanced fps bs just to make the game not to look blurry. after a couple of hours randomly crashed and I had to search whole reddit just to find out it was raytraced shadows that causing this but and after each crash the settings were reset and i had to change it all again. please just make it simple to play, we don't need hundreds of enhancement to play it with good graphic and fps at the same time, make it simple so if someone wants fps lowers the graphics and sm1 that wants aesthetics but not 200fps highers it. 7/10 cuz of the crashes on a capable pc and settings

Following the great surprise that was innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem, is beautiful, bittersweet and a unique experience that will make you care for its characters. It will CERTAINLY make you cry too. It will make you feel everything! Amicia and Hugo are so precious and I'm happy to had this journey with them. About the gameplay, everything is expanded and it feels great. New environmental puzzles, a lot of ways to deal with enemies and new resources to use. Graphically, it's mesmerizing how everything looks and the SOUNDTRACK OH MY GOD!!!!!! This game is something special, let me tell you. I really don't have anything negative to say about Requiem except for a few frame drops here and there, but nothing major. Otherwise, it's perfect. If you haven't played yet, go play A Plague Tale Innocence first (which is also incredible) and then play Requiem. You will not regret it. Except you will cry like a baby. A LOT. This journey... Was one to never forget. :'( I'll miss you... You will always be remembered and you deserved so much better. You endured so much and even with all the pain, suffering and loss, you were able to laugh and be gentle with everyone. Thank you for everything. I will never forget you... Never.

A well written story with improved stealth, combat mechanics and visuals over the first title (even though I prefer the looks of the first game). Some peformance issues here and there, the first game was better optimized. The game is longer than the first one, but it keeps you in with changing surroundings, decorations and new visuals. I kinda dont like that in order to unlock every upgrade I have to go through the new game plus, I dont want to feel the pain and sadness again. Played the game in French and the voice actors did a great job, good thing they kept the same voice actors. The achievements are easy to get so thats a plus if you are into that. This series of games made me feel emotional and you should buy it since its on sale right now. 9/10 for the sequel, the first title is 8/10 (mainly due to simple stealth mechanics). I hope the third game will make more complex puzzles and give some answers.
I am sad that despite everything, Hugo couldn't be saved. And I wonder - was everything for nothing. I guess the only hope is that Amecia is able to help the new patients with the knowledge she acquired from the hell she went through. I also feel like the ending where the Macula is there in the present day is not a good one since it kinda ruins the story for the third game that is going to come out next year since we know that Macula will stay like a plot armor. I wanted Macula to be gone, controlled or idk. I hate not being able to end this evil once and for all. I guess since the plague isnt there in the present day means that Amicia was successful maybe and that people learned how to treat it or maybe it was dormant all these years, who knows. I wish we could learn more about Macula and end it.
A beautifully written, deeply emotional, and tragic story. A continuation to an already brilliant part one that gives the story a true finale. This game takes everything part one did well and builds on it, from writing to gameplay mechanics. Worth every penny spent on it. However, be prepared for an emotional roller coaster that might very well leave you in tears or near it at its end. I’m writing this review just as I had finished it, and I’m hardly keeping it together. Although the ending isn’t what I thought or hoped for, I can still accept it for what it is.
