Fantastic game, lets me fulfill the fantasy of being a speedrunner despite not having the skill or time to be one.

As much as I love Machine Girl, I would recommend it. I mean how badass it would to play as a cool assassin with some banger music in the background.

I love this game when I actually get to play! Great speedrun-parkour game! BUT The f**king cringy dialogues are endless though. I quickly resorted to fast-forwarding through all of them -- and even on fast-forward, it gets too long. Forcing the player to go through all of those dialogues to unlock everything in the game is annoying as hell. I really wish there was an option to just completely remove them from the game.

One of my favourite games of all time. Honestly i think that the game is very underrated / overlooked. Its a unique first person platformer which feels a bit puzzle-y due to the focus on finishing levels fast, and because you have a limited number of moves that you pick up in the form of cards. There's also some shooting, although the enemies are more like parts of the level than actual enemies. The game also has some replay value because you have a score system that encourages you to try and master each level. The story is actually pretty fun, even if some people described it as cringe. I actually don't think its cringe, because its clearly trying to be humorous / goofy on purpose. Overall, i had a fun time with the story. The only flaw of this game, is that you need to unlock all the gifts on each level (hidden items on each level) and give them all to your friends in order to get the good ending. Which can get a bit tedious. But apart from that one flaw, this game is a must play in my opinion. The gameplay is innovative and the levels are great. The story is also decent.

Neon White is sharp, satisfying, and immensely entertaining. Levels are really well designed and are endlessly replayable to strive for a faster time. The story isn't anything groundbreaking but is cohesive and interesting enough to not be completely outclassed by the gameplay. Machine Girl's soundtrack is what got me to play the game and as expected it is killer. If only it were loud enough to drown out the cringe anime dialogue.

With a somewhat Vaporwave presentation this speedrun simulator encourages the player to move beyond the highlighted path and try to 'cheat' their way to a lower completion time. While every action was probably thought of by the developer beforehand, it still gives the illusion that the player is breaking all the rules by your own ingenuity and this feeling of outsmarting the game is highly enjoyable.

Lovely, cool charachters -- the main reason I kept playing. The story that keeps you trying to unlock all the little details as you clear the levels. Gameplay is rather fun. An awesome soundtrack from Machine Girl that keeps you locked in and complemets moments in game perfectly.

Genuinely brilliant. Every aspect of it's presentation and gameplay is polished to a mirror sheen. Every weapon/ability, level, and target time is curated and balanced to cater to precisely how deep you want to get into it. You can get good at the standard routes for Gold medals, find new but easy-to-identify shortcuts to get Ace medals, and figure out ingenious skips on top of that to get the Developer medals, with possible times going well below that depending on how creative you get. It does a fantastic job of rewarding you for the time you put into it and really motivates you to engage with it through the eyes of a speedrunner, enabling a great degree of both skill expression and ingenuity to create high-skill out-of-the-box routes. If you want to take it further and need some extra dopamine to grind away at it, the NeonLite mod adds 3 additional medals over the developer times so you can strive for peak unga bunga speed, among tons of other QoL changes. The visuals are crisp and incredibly readable despite the rapid pace of gameplay, and the music is charming and balances zen and pulse-pounding vibes delicately to set the mood for each environment. As far as the writing goes, I didn't find it outright unbearable outside a small handful of genuinely cringeworthy scenes. But it's all tongue-in-cheek and doesn't take itself too seriously, and certainly didn't detract from my overall experience. But maybe that's because I have prior experience with anime and its eccentricities, so take it with a grain of salt. All the same, its functions as a nice break from the manic loop of solving and speeding through the levels of a chapter, so it definitely has its place in my opinion. On the whole, super-strong recommendation for anyone interested in high-octane movement and puzzle-platformers.

Really cool speedrun parkour game with interesting gimmicks and concepts. Creative gameplay that encourages players to "break" out of the "intended" path. Great level design that teaches players by showing, not telling. Music by Machine Girl. Really solid game all around. I could go on and on about what this game does well. There are definitely a few pain points though. The dialogue reads like a teenager's edgy Danganronpa fanfic. This is especially noticeable because there is a LOT of dialogue between parts of the levels. They often don't add much to the story and it really breaks up the flow of the gameplay. There is pretty good voice acting, but only the main story scenes have it. This is a bit of an issue because the game has dating sim-esque mechanics that mostly rewards you with dialogue. For how much this game is framed as a shooter, it's really more of a puzzle game. The enemies are mostly glorified puzzle elements. They barely attack you and mainly serve to provide you with weapon cards. There's a large part of the game where only minor elements are introduced and it gets pretty stale. Without spoiling anything, you're expected to play through every single level in the main story at minimum SIX TIMES to100%. While the levels are all relatively short, having to play through them that many times is unreasonable.

After getting every achievement, I can say without a doubt that Neon White is my favorite FPS game. To me at least, the story was pretty alright, and I actually cared about the characters. That might be because I'm the target demographic for this kind of storytelling, being a young teenager, but it did it's job. But most of all, the gameplay is incredibly satisfying and fast. It made me actually wanna keep doing the brutal challenge that is White's Hell Rush because the gameplay is just that good. Overall, 9/10. I think the side mission levels are pretty alright, but a little off. Getting Ace medals is fun, but the gift collections are much more slow and boring at times. The rushes are fair yet brutal. And the 100% was very fun to do.

In my opinion, one of the best platformers that has ever graced the gaming world. The gameplay encourages you to be creative and experiment in order to achieve medals, not to mention the tools that the game gives you to execute this. The music perfectly fits the energy in the game. It's quiet when needed to, and very energetic when the time comes. This is my first exposure to Machine Girl, and because of this game, they've gained a new fan. The main plot is decent enough, and provides a meaningful message once it all ends. The plot makes an interesting contrast between it and the fast-paced gameplay. It nudges you to stop and to think about what it means to be in the afterlife: if you need to let go of what you were, or to keep holding on? I am quite used to the dialogue since I have played a lot of anime games, but even then, I don't think this was cringey. I think it's written in a way that is 'fun'. I respect that choice, and I've enjoyed my time reading through the dialogue. By the time the game ended, I was attached to the characters. I'd easily recommend this to everyone. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

Feel the rush! Neon White is extraordinarily unique, combining elements of fps, platforming and speedrunning all into one. With a fantastic OST composed by Machine Girl and fantastic visuals, outstanding gameplay and insane replay value, this game is one of its kind. One of my favourites ever since i first picked it up.

I have barely played any of this game whatsoever but this is, somehow, already one of the best games I've ever played. I already had the crackhead movement down thanks to ULTRAKILL (play that too btw) but even without that experience, this game is a total blast to play. I came into this expecting a shooter with an annoying card niche and instead I got a hybrid movement shooter/speedrun title/aim trainer and it is a PERFECT representation of all three of those genres. Neon White is simply kickass. Not bad for a dead guy, huh?

I don't care if this is trying to play into the over-acted anime trope style purposely, the writing and characters were insufferably annoying and faux. I gave it till mission 4 with listening to dialogue/ the odd gift and side story; it just sucks so much more than the actual gameplay, a true divide of quality. At least the gameplay was so good it didn't matter, in fact, my enjoyment rose exponentially after I just started skipping the copious amounts of dialogue bridging the smooth and fast-paced time-trial-fps-parkour-gameplay (seriously who thought this kind of game need shitty visual novel style story telling wasting time in between missions). So my recommendation really only extends to the actual game part of this video game, which is genuinely great and has some superb level design!

Neon White is like Doomguy joined a speedrunning cult in heaven. The gameplay? Chef's kiss. Addictive, slick, and makes you feel like a parkour god. The story? Eh... let's just say i skipped enough dialogue to make that its own speeedrun. I played for cool looking movement, but I stayed because of obsession

One of the best games I have ever played. The gameplay is a lot of fun and it feels so satisfying to beat your time. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the story and writing is very cringe and not too interesting. It does pull itself together but it is too little too late. Despite this positives greatly outweigh the negatives. Finally, I would like to add that this game has amazing achievements and collectibles that add fun challenges for the completionist type. I can not recommend it enough.

Say what you will about its purposefully campy and cliche writing (I personally don't mind it and think its quite funny at points, but will admit at some points, especially with Violet, it gets exhausting) but the core of the narrative is great stuff, but most importantly, this is one of the most energetic, exciting and addictive games of all time. The game trains you to understand its level design and when you get something right, it's a blast of relief that's so infectious you feel like a god.

Literally perfect, like quite literally perfect. This is THE Speedrunning game, this game doesn't put you on a set path in most levels, but makes you figure out so many shortcuts on your own which just surprise you every time you find a new one because the more you play the stages, the more you realise how genius these stages are just put together. Game is extremely extremely smooth and fast plus it's pretty easy to learn for people who don't have any speedrunning experience, so this game is not only a perfect introduction for speedrun newbies, but also perfect for speedrunnning crackheads to go at it and find out extremely clutch and difficult paths, mastering all the stages to perfection. Some don't like the story since it is pretty edgy and feels "cringe" from time to time, but thats what i love about the story. The writing and just the cast in general kind of feels like soemthing, the edgy 13 year old me would write back then and this is probably whats catching me the most, since this made me actually fall in love with not just the gameplay, but the vibe and story of the game, making it kind of feel nostalgic in some way. Im obssesed with this game and hope for something similar to come out by Angel Matrix in the near future. Even though i don't have a lot of ingame hours, this is quite possibly one of my favourite games ever played, just because it made me feel at home in a way i didn't think a modern game could.

I fucking hate trial and error games, but this game's flow is so mad addicting that I can't help but love it. The art is phenomenal, the music gets you so unbelievably hyped, and the voice acting is fantastic. My only gripe is the story has a lot of plot holes and I wish the side stuff was fully voiced. Other than that, phenomenal game! Play it!

Neon White is an excellent game in which you blitz through levels in first person using card abilities. Completing levels requires reaching the end goal and defeating all enemies, and doing so in record breaking time requires mastery over the level, mechanics, and platforming. It is almost exhilarating as you fly through levels to beat developer times. Unfortunately, the character interactions and story delivery detract from the experience, and players may not realize that by avoiding the character interactions and side-content, they will also not have the chance to play the most challenging and engaging content in the game.

Truly one of the greatest feeling games ever full stop, every mouse so precise, (almost)every level so well thought out, and every gun a new puzzle for you to slowly unfold. It won't feel like that at the beginning but get a few friends together and pushing each other to the edge of what's possible is some of the most fun I've had in a game. If you get competitive in games it's so easy for this game to suck you down a vortex of improvements millisecond by millisecond, you've finally defeated all your friends and you think there's no way anyone could best your time and then you look up the world record and start crying. I love this game and I'll easily sink 300 more hours in trying to reach the very top. Overall, It's like the gameplay of neon white 😀, ...mixed wit the story of neon white 🤮, why anime, why must you ruin everything I love

Okay so I got 6 hours in this game which makes it enough to review it according to its gameplay. I'm not going to speak anything lore - wise though. Holy SPEED, this game isn't really made for you to look at the environments but more for speedrunning them (Yup, and the game gives you points based on how fast you finish a level) with an incredible soundtrack made by Machine Girl who's a duo that makes Jungle / DnB. It really makes you wanna go fast each time the music kicks in. It's interesting how the concept of guns being cards it's used because there's no distractions when playing the game and everything is pretty much intuitive. You can tell how many times the devs iterated when making the game. The only complains I have about the game is that the dialogue is kinda cringey and it's made that way because it feels like it's parodying the old edgy 00's videogame aesthetics with a character who flirts around with the hot girls and tries to be sexy but... he's just not because, apparently, he's scared of women. If you find that the dialogues are pretty cringy just read them fast, cringe, and then move on. And the other one being the gifts system, it doesn't really add much besides knowing each Neon more and more with some sidequests in between that just gives you... more character... insights? That doesn't motivates you to get them all. Maybe there's some intetion behind them? I don't know it yet, but if I do, I'm going to update the review. Setting that aside, the game has a lot of replayability letting you finish the missions first and then come back for the gifts and complete what you left behind score and time wise.

Best game Ive ever played. 11/10 Its got a good story, the character design is great, and it tickles the speed freak part of my brain It runs super well on my i5 + 3060 mobile, and even runs at 40FPS on my potato that I use for work. Advice: Don't play this on a trackpad or controller, keyboard and mouse is the way to go I love the soundtrack, Im not sure why it receives negative rep for that, it suits the game really well. There are lots of levels - the only reason ive finished it is because I spend a little too long each day playing it. The mechanics took a few levels to get used to, but then you really get into the flow of it. The only things I would say is that some of the voice lines are a little cringey, but I normally play with subtitles on and sound off (I listen to the soundtrack on another device) But otherwise, buy this game
