One of the best two hours and thirty minutes of my life. It was confusing at first but I guess it's part of the Journey (lol), trying to figure out how to fly and understanding the puzzles, everything was mostly bearable alone until it was on the Snowy Mountain. I found someone there and tried to stick around them, and I kind of felt bad for getting us in trouble twice because I am so clumsy with the winds and snow. But I really appreciate the gesture of waiting for me and actually looking out for each other. In those kinds of scenarios it made me realize that we actually need someone to endure and persevere with because I would probably have given up and quit the game, but the random person's presence alongside me as we suffer together is very comforting. I actually thought I messed it up when we died so close to the top because I kind of contributed when their scarf got ruined because of the monster, we then got resurrected by the Gods we met along the way, and I am dearly hoping that the one with me flying around the peak was them. They revealed the identities of the travelers that I met along the way but I have no idea of which was the one that was with me on the Snowy Mountain, If you happen to find this review feel free to add me :) I didn't expect to finish this in one sitting, but I would most likely play it again sometime soon.

Pros: + unique audio-visual experience + wordless storytelling + online companion system where anonymous players can join you for silent cooperation Cons: - game is designed to be completed in one sitting (2h approx) - unclear when autosave happens - achievements should not exist in a game like this

A gorgeous, artistic and atmospheric game that will take you through a spiritual journey. So relaxing to play through even when replaying with an absolutely stunning soundtrack.

One of the best game which tells a story without any word spoken and the people you met along the way will make you feel connected without you even knowing who there are, there is no communication system in the game but the other person who the game connect in the world is a real person playing with you but without any word you will understand each other. The visuals and instrumental songs are great. I would like it to be slightly longer, but it gives you a real journey, which is why the name is best suited for the game. Go for it if you like games that will melt your heart, and with great sound. For those who played with me in this journey, you made the journey even more beautiful.

An amazing experience. Nothing like it. It literally shows our journey in life and everything we encounter and experience on our way to our goal(s). I played with great people in this journey and without even talking or knowing one another, with the most basic ways of communication and everything, I cared about them and our success so much that not knowing them was not important at all. And in the end the game showed me what companions I had during the game and I added them on Steam lol Just get the game, play it in one sitting (It takes less than 2 hours) and enjoy the heck out of it and have the decency to be with your companion at most times Such amazing message and creativity put in only 2 hours or less

Great game, however very unstable, crashed multiple times. I had to lower my graphic settings to the minimum in order to finish the game. While researching how to stop the crashing I found posts describing the same crashes from 2020, so this known and seemingly common game breaking bug hasn't been fixed in 5 years.

Journey is an incredible game, from start to finish. It has an amazing community, and a fantastic story all around--coupled with gorgeous visuals and a breathtaking soundtrack. The pacing is fantastic and every single moment of this game feels meaningful in some way. Despite the linear pathway and merely 2 hours of total runtime, Journey manages to deliver a profound experience that tugs at every single heart-string. But despite the playthrough being so short, this game offers some amazing replayability and an astonishing level of complexity through it's (at first, seemingly simple) flying mechanics. While daunting at first, the community has remained extremely welcoming and kind to everyone, new or old. I have played this game non-stop for the past few weeks, and I still am constantly learning new things everyday. I have met some amazing people through this game, and all of them have been exceedingly supporting. No matter how many times I might fall--or how many times I (embarrassingly) fail a technique--this game always seems to bring me back. (10/10) I truly cannot recommend this game enough, it is worth your time.

Amazing game. It's always the first game I use to introduce my non-gaming friends to the world of video games and they are always amazed.

I finished the game and was confused why it got so many positive reviews, so I read some of them. Most reviews expressed enjoyment of exploring with some unknown partner(s)... which I did not get to experience at all. I had been looking around my character the entire time and did not find a single other player. Well, maybe I just played the game at an unfortunate enough time period that there just wasn't anyone else online, but no, when credits rolled it showed 2 names in the companion list. So the companions - apparently they are a key feature of the game - are not "rendering". Without companions, exploration felt a lot less fun since walking is slow and the entire map was mostly sand and snow anyway. I guess now there's one more key feature of the game being removed. So we only have visuals, music and sound effect left. Well then I'm better off watching a gameplay video instead of actually buying and "playing" the game. I seem to be the only person having this problem though. Maybe some time I will play it again and update my review.

This was a good quick game. The graphics were beautiful. There isn't much depth to the game and it isn't very clear what you are supposed to do in the beginning. Was it amazing? No. It was good and worth a couple of bucks.

This beautiful game evokes so much thought and emotion, even without dialogue. I was second guessing purchasing this on steam, as I had played it on PS4 a few years ago. While it's not a game anyone would ever play daily/weekly, I think it's well worth coming back to this masterpiece every once in a while for a reminder of what good visual storytelling is. Keep chirping!

The game is alright, but feels empty, slow and pointless. Starting off with the positives, the intense moments of the game are stressful, which is good. The story(while generic) does wrap around onto itself pretty nicely and the ending also feels decent, some parts of it even feel great. And thats about it... The game as a whole is a walking simulator with 2 intense sections and some "puzzles" (go to X to flip a lever which opens door Y) The main gimmick of the game is that you can encounter other players, and I did, for about 3 sections of the game, the rest I did on my own. While having companions helps to distract you from the slow pace, but its still lacking. The only way to communicate is through a single button which makes you sing a note, thats it. Gameplay wise having a companion doesnt help that much with the puzzles or anything else. I really wanted to like this game, I really thought I'd like this game... :/ Maybe my opinion would be different if I had gotten lucky and had a companion with me the whole game, but as it stands this game feels meaningless and would make much more sense as a free game for how short it is. I hope my refund goes through, mid game.

Good atmospheric game with chill vibes. Come fly with us while we take a First Look at this 2020 game of the year. To join with a friend its a little weird. the multiplayer matchmaking is set to match you with another player that is joining the same level you are at the same/similar time. So best way to get lucky and play with you friend is to start a new game or start on the same lvl at the same moment to try and get the system to match you. Good luck out there! Here is a First Look video I did on the first hour of gameplay: https://youtu.be/HFJYin--akM Cheers!

thatgamecompany has been known for their horrible pc ports to their Playstation games, and this one isn't any different unfortunately. This is my favorite game from this studio and it suffers from abnormal CPU usage no matter how good your hardware is, crashes when changing graphics settings, very low music volume even when it's set to 100% in settings and even some audio issues during certain segments of the game. Lastly and the worst issue of all is that 90% of the players you meet up with will disconnect after few seconds of seeing them which certainly kills half the fun the game has to offer. My advice is if you have an access to a playstation 3, 4 or 5 it's better to play it on them, if you don't then it's not a bad choice to buy it here and give it a try on your hardware, refund it if it doesn't work.

A surreal adventure that takes you through many different levels and locations, but always with a central focus point to anchor yourself to, Journey absolutely lives up to its namesake. Everything is done pretty much flawlessly. The music is sublime, especially some of the later tracks. The levels are amazingly and carefully crafted, and the central mechanics are so tightly designed and used in such creative ways throughout the game. And I genuinely won't say much about the story because the less you know going in, the better. But it is perfect. Be prepared to play through the entire game in one sitting. The only complaint I really have is that rarely my camera would clip into the level geometry or behave in weird ways, which would take me out of the moment for just a second. The game is also absolutely gorgeous, especially considering it was made in 2012. I was constantly taking screenshots throughout the whole experience and I'm sure I'll look back on them fondly in a few years. Absolute masterpiece of a game, one of my new favourites of all time.

This game- was quite a wholesome, beautiful and touching game. I felt it had deep metaphorical value. Sadly, this game's playtime only took 90 mins for me. Hopefully they will develop a bigger sequel to this game. Due to its playtime I don't recommend buying this unless it is on sale, I got it for $5 and although it was a great (yet short) game, I don't think it is worth spending 10 more dollars. Playtime: 90-120 mins Price: Get on sale PC Requirements: Decent PC Rating: 10/10

Beautiful game in with such soulful simplicity on my first game I encountered another player who lead me fully through the world controls and all the markers As a complete beginner we had full conversations on controls communicating through interactive taps alone. I don't know who you are, where your from, but if you ever read this than you for travelling with me. This game is truly a piece of art and worthy of the hype.

A very short, but memorable game. It is quite unique; there is nothing spoken or written anywhere. It's all visual storytelling, and sometimes you meet a fellow traveller on the same path. If you're stuck in the early part just gong all the cloth :)

I was recommended this game because I've played Sky on my phone and recently switched my account to PC. This game is insanely beautiful. I loaded it up thinking that I was playing alone. I had been having a rough day and just wanted to play something pretty. Then someone else showed up out of nowhere. It made the experience 200% better. They let me figure things out on my own, but also made sure I found stuff. They'd celebrate with me when I found stuff. This may sound super cheesy/sappy, but I really needed that. I have nothing but great things to say about this game. I want to give a special thanks to 'Bleh'- the companion who made my night without even knowing it- I appreciate you helping me along on my first journey and for drawing me hearts in the snow. It truly meant a lot to me. I knew I would probably like the game before i played, but I was not expecting to be so moved by it. You have to experience it at least once.

**If this is your first time playing the game, try to avoid spoilers! It's SO much better if you don't know what's going on.** One of the best games I've ever played, and definitely re-playable. The OST is amazing, the visuals are gorgeous even years later, and the story is interesting and interactive. Try to play it all in one sitting, it's much better that way. Enjoy your journey!

I had no idea what kind of Journey I was about to go on. I was unaware of the 'multiplayer' aspect and reached the summit with a companion, only then to realize it was an actual person, which just made the whole Journey more special. Truly a wonderful game deserving of the title, for it can take you on a Journey.

The co-op Journey is praised all over the comments, but something that isn't is how accurate the struggle up the sand dunes is. I enjoyed Journey, but didn't connect with it the same way others have. It may be because I journeyed over 3 sessions, had the all other people I met be afk so I thought they were just refill stations, or something else. But a week after completing my journey, I went sand dune surfing. Hiking back up the sand dunes after a long ride down gave me such a different perspective on this game. If you're on the fence about buying Journey, then I say go hike on sand dunes and come back later. Godspeed.

First playthrough review time. This game may be suited for those who are interested in artistic expression through games or who prefer a calm and quiet experience. It moves at a gentle pace and does not rely on action or competition. The focus is more on atmosphere and tone rather than traditional game structure. It presents ideas through movement, sound, and environment without using direct communication or dialogue. This approach encourages the player to observe and think, rather than react quickly. The experience depends on the individual's way of understanding what is shown, not on reaching a certain goal. Overall, this game is quiet and thoughtful, with more focus on atmosphere than action.

I really wanted to like this game, but it just felt empty. Exploration gave me nothing or rather wasn't even possible because the only fun game mechanic, flying, isn't possible most of the time because you run out of energy so fast. Instead the game consists of slowly walking through sand and being confused as to what the story is even supposed to be about.

I've played that game when it came out on ps3 a long time ago... Rediscovering it again on PC years after is nostalgic and it brings back memories associated with that period of time. Now i'm 35 years old and it is the first game that my 5 years old gaughter has ever played. A gem of game that will truly stand the test of time for generations to come. 10/10

A transcendant, timeless work of art in game form. Absolutely beautiful and moving, an experience you should not miss out on. If you haven't played this game yet, buy it and play it and come out the other end changed and smiling. And maybe just a bit tearful. Myself, and the community, though, hope they can bring back the sound system from the original PS3 version! We miss the chirp reverb and the sound effects and the dynamic music queues working the way they did on the original console version of the game!

Something happened during my first playthrough that really touched me. I had an experienced companion who guided me through the first few chapters. They were patient with my clumsy flying, and we had a good time together. When we reached the end of the long hallway, they stopped. They made noises and sat down a few times. It took me a while to understand that they were leaving. I stood alone in the sunset for a while after they left, before continuing the rest of the journey on my own. I guess that moment of separation made me cherish the time we shared even more, and also showed me what this game wants each player to feel in their own way. You might come away with your own sense of something, whether you're with someone or walking alone.

Absolute masterclass in telling a beautiful story in a creative and expressive way. From the imagery to the unique multiplayer, and of course the completely astounding soundtrack by Austin Wintory, this game delivers in almost every facet. This is not just a game, but it is what most people hope games will be seen as; art. This piece of art is one that I believe anyone with an interest in games should pick up and experience, as it is truly a symbol of the heights that this medium can achieve. I would greatly recommend, and even after a decade and a half of the game being out, I still write this review because of the staying power it has had with me. I know that even though the gaming world has moved on to bigger and better things, this game is still remembered by me and so many others, especially the first playthrough. Many may never find this game, and It saddens me, but to all of those who may or may not read this review on a decade old game, I urge you to go, go and take this Journey.
