Twelve Minutes is unique, and slightly frustrating. I love the style of the game, the visuals and music are great, the Hollywood cast deliver surprisingly good performances, and I genuinely loved the presentation. It's cinematic and filmic in a way most games that claim those descriptors fail to fully realize, while also being a story that could only really be done justice as a video game, which is rare to find. I believe it's well written, and I enjoy how un-apologetically "artsy" it is. The narrative will have me thinking about it for awhile. And while I don't mind its relative mechanical sparseness, I do think what little is present could have been tuned a bit better. Being entirely mouse driven probably wasn't a great decision, and without spoiling anything, there could have been some quality of life improvements made to avoid the tedium that seems inevitable. It's definitely not for everyone, and I think at full price most people will feel disappointed since this feels like it has pretty niche appeal. However if this seems up your alley, I'd say wait for a sale and give it a try! I'd recommend it for sure.

This would have been really good as a movie, but as a game? Not at all. Look, the story is good, but you will have to do the exact same thing over, and over, and over, and over just to maybe get a chance of advancing the plot. If I were the game developer I would have implemented a "choice tree" where you could skip to any point in the story and see the possible branchings of your choices. That way you could maintain the fun aspects of the game (eg. having to discover the story an think of ways to advance the plot) without the absolutely horrible part (having to repeat the 10 minute loop every time with 90% of the same actions as last time).

Before the final loop I was going to say that it’s flaw was its gameplay, and that this plot would work well as a time loop movie. If you advance the plot on every loop, it's paced out quite well so you get just the right amount of new information with each loop. Except you don't always advance the plot. Obviously a time loop is repetitive, but you can design around that. Here, at a minimum you need to repeat 11 times to finish the game. but you won't. What you need to do to progress is often so insanely obtuse even by point and click adventure standards that you'll spend loop after loop doing the same setup for the first 5 minutes, only to discover you've done the wrong setup and can't get any new information from the last 5 minutes. I could give it the benefit of the doubt and say that if I had paced it out over several sessions I could have thought things over more, gotten less annoyed with the repeating, repeating, repeating dialogue that can only be skipped one line at a time. But I won't, because you need to remember a detail you'll basically only see on the first loop in order to solve the second to last one. And of course, it's only flaw is not its gameplay. The twist ending is such an absurd contrivance that it is impossible to suspend one's disbelief. I think its telling that most of the positive reviews seem to agree that the concept is good but the execution is somewhere between flawed and disastrous.

Fun unique game play. Can be solved in under 10 hours. I really enjoyed it and was worth my time and money.

This is the moment when I still can't decide The game itself quite interesting, begining of the story, voice acting, base idea... But here several things that leaded me to "not recomended" - Plot twist is crazy. It's appeared from nowhere, not logical and makes no sense. Especially when you've seen the gift in the begining of the game - Repetitve actions in a very small space. In the end of the game you are just suffereing, because you what to do, and it's just a small thing, but you have you to make the whole chain of actions over and over again - Once you completed the game you have to start it from the begining without a save from the last game Don't get me wrong. It's defenetely a good game, but ruined by peices which didn't complete the picture

a little disappointing but the game play system was pretty fun, it's up to you to figure out if it's good tbh

It got too tedious. Found the story interesting, but the game play of repeating stuff again and again sucked the soul out of me. Also for some reason hate the mouse control. Feel like the game changes the mouse sensitivity so i have issues with precision and speed. Made me fail some loops.

bugged out on me and softlocked me, fun game but desperately needs a quality passover for bugs.

finally writing after having played this and hated it a few years ago, yeah don't waste your time with this game. the concept is great, and the voice acting as you would expect is fantastic, but the execution is meh and, big spoiler here, but SUPER IMPORTANT TO KNOW,
the big plot twist is that you are your wife's brother.
and it feels like it serves literally no purpose other than to be this super shocking twist but it's just. gross and completely unearned lmao. if you can look past that though and still wanna play the game, go ahead I guess Idk. just please get it on sale. this is not worth 25 bucks. I think I got it for 10 or 15 and I was still disappointed and wanted to refund (but due to the amount of time I put in the game I couldn't so I'm just stuck with this rotting, albeit hidden, in my library)

This was... very underwhelming. Both the "big reveal" and the story.
