im new af so safe seas it is for now. gots no friends lol i will say the water is hands down the most immersive water ive ever seen.. i just like sailing around and exploring but if u had mates i could VERY much understand how awesome this game could be. idk abt full price but def worth the 14 it cost on sale

As much as i love this game, its getting destroyed by incompetent people behind it. OG developers made a masterpiece and gave it into hands of incompetent clowns. Its like Rare wants this game to die which will happen really soon imo. I cant recommend this game in current state.

Love this game, it is great. That is when swords aren't being shoved up my a$$ and my ship gets sunk faster than the crew votes me into the brig for breathing too loud. And tell me why I can easily stack up a Fort of the Damned or two, but then right as I'm ready to leave, two galleons roll up like it's their 9-to-5 job to ruin my entire bloodline. I blink once and suddenly I'm watching my loot get auctioned off by some 12-year-old on voice chat who calls me 'brokie' mid-sink. Anyways, besides that, the game is great and you should definitely give it a shot.

I've been playing SOT since it released on Xbox, and it was an amazing experience. Nowadays the game is full of hackers and it is impossible to pvp with hourglass because you will most likely be queued against a hacker. The devs seem to almost have no ambition when it comes to the game itself. All the devs are doing nowadays are just adding shortcuts to the game. Feels like everything can just be obtained via a menu screen. The devs have not even added a single new biome in I can't even remember how long. An ice biome would be really cool or maybe some desert biome or a ghost realm. I feel like the game could use some new and inspiring elements. The main thing in SOT was the cosmetics to me. These being curses and clothing. It felt so rewarding to grind for hours and hours to get a outfit or a curse, but nowadays the clothing is just so underwhelming. I fee like the game could use better animated curses and ship sets, also allow the player to take specific pieces of clothing from a costume so we can mix and match. A hub world would be pretty cool, so players could interact with each other and communicate via gamechat while showing off their hard earned cosmetics. Game lacks ambition and if the devs don't step their game up then the game will cease to be. Also I like the idea of the shroudbreaker. It is an item that you can attach to your ship to obtain a special blessing. Maybe add some more things like that for pvp or just traversing faster. Like there could be an item that makes the ship invisible from 300 meters away or an item that increases ship speed periodically just something to spice up the game.

You can play this game alone or with friends, at any pace you want, really. Slow-paced, fast-paced, on your own or with others.

The game is great! Lots to do. Can rock the "Safer Seas" mode to get a feel as to how the game's mechanics all work without worrying about other players attacking you. Then once you're comfortable with everything, you can head into High Seas mode and open up a whole new world of things to do, see, and interact with. It's a pirate game, so don't expect a lot of the players to be friendly, BUT I have had mostly positive encounters with other players. (There are even specific trophies/achievements for deliberate positive interactions with other players/crews/guilds!) MAIN GRIPE: Server connection stability is dodgy at best, and infuriating at worst. Highly recommended that you frequently do your turn-ins at outposts so you don't lose everything when your connection inevitably drops at some point and you can't get back into your session before it times out. I'm fine. EVERYTHING'S FINE. :P

Definitely going to be a very enjoyable game for newer players. Servers need lots of work, but still very good game.

The lack of a good progression system is what really turned me off from this game, it ultimately became nothing but a repetitive piece of garbage.

I gave this game a fair shot. 11 hours of pure frustration. Spent HOURS peacefully grinding, collecting treasure, doing voyages — only to get jumped by some PvP sweatlord, have my ship sunk in 2 minutes, and lose everything. This isn't "danger adds thrill," it's just unbalanced trash that rewards griefers and punishes anyone who tries to enjoy the actual game content. The worst part? You can’t opt out. There’s no PvE mode. No safe zones. Not even outposts are protected. The devs Refuse to add PvE servers or passive mode despite YEARS of players begging for it. Because making you regrind means more hours played, which makes them look good to Microsoft. The result A toxic, one-sided game where: PvP sweats get free loot with zero effort Peaceful players get robbed, rage, and uninstall Real gameplay (voyages, exploration) feels pointless if you can just steal other people hours loot . the PVP is unbalanced when you have loot they can easly just steal it and when you defend and sink the other player boat you get nothing the pvp only rewarding the one with 0 loot because they have nothing to loose . I loved the idea pirate life, sailing, treasure but this game is built around pure frustration. It’s not fun, it’s not fair , and it’s not worth your money unless you enjoy ruining other people’s fun. so if want a game where you can just chill and grind your way to the top without loosing all your progress this game ain't for you .

Only players left are toxic tryhards. The game will be shut down within the year at my guess. Player count is averaging around 10k and dropping fast due to unplayability. Cheating is STILL a huge problem because again the only player left are toxic. Game will be Forever dead soon. DO NOT BUY.

The devs of this game are actually useless. Every week the game goes under "maintenance" to fix one of the endless bugs, but as soon as they fix something a new bug occurs, and the game is stuck in this endless cycle of purgatory. Hacking is also a huge problem in the game, making it almost unplayable at times. The game can be really fun, but in its current state I can't recommend it.

dumb easy anticheat says that DiagnosticDataSettings.dll in system 32 in untrusted so the game wont start. my 23 minutes has just been the easy anti cheat screen.

do not buy this game i have over 4k hours on xbox this game used to be my favorite game but for the past year this game has gone way down hill cheaters everywhere adventure and hourglass you can not do anything solo in this game they make it impossible now with the most resent update you can have skeletons on your boat so everyone just has them spammed on their boat they are slowly taking away the pvp in the game and making everything worse every update they break more than they fix its so buggy and laggy have the time u cant even load in stay away from this game

I devoted hours into this game, only to be constantly met with vile anti-lgbt rhetoric on open-mic, developers that cater to a PVP experience but cripple any notion of single-player/co-op environment, and alters their banning protocols to be less harsh while retroactively giving the middle finger to anyone who'd received wrongful bans and not allowing them a chance back. I have multiple friends who'd simply lost internet at the wrong time and were banned for "Network interference" or something, and their appeals went completely unanswered both before and after the change. Now the few people I've left to play with have moved on to exclusively PVP because we no longer have crews large enough to defend ourselves against the absolutely *jank* PVP combat. You either have to play Reaper and hunt people for a living or you just get your teeth kicked down your throat. No exceptions. It's so f*cking *bad!* I used to have only mild complaints about this game because the experience was overall fun. Now anymore its completely rotten, covered up with shiny gold graphics. I've submitted for a refund even though I know I won't get it, but I'm so tired of this game's crap I don't care so long as it's removed from my library. I've already deleted my account. Anyone who favors a stable pulse should stay away from this game.

So much grind for 120GB game. World feels empty and seasons are cutted in half with new content. Buy or play only if your friends will do + if you all have same time to spare. As for solo... If being pirate is not being cheater, toxic / trolling guy or a sweaty palms - I don't know what IS being a pirate. Cause I didn't met a single bro interaction during hundreds of hours. BUT! Now you'll get like 30% of game content though in safe seas! ..yey :D ... I guess.

The brigantine ship is unrealistic in many ways, but the things that get me the most is the missing spanker and that the bowsprit is missing spritsails.

I have around 1200-1300 hours on this game (bought on steam not to long ago, played on xbox and xbox app for most of it) in the games current state, I would not recommend buying it, unless you can handle 70-100 ping, piss poor frames (I have a 3070 and sometimes struggle to get over 100 frames on lower settings) very poor community management from the devs, etc. however, I will still religiously be playing this game. My glorious Damage control Production Director Drew Stevens has to get paid somehow.

Pushing politics in game, I came for fun not to be forced to endure political opinions or groups.

If I didn't have friends to play this game with, I absolutely could not tolerate playing this game. The community is godawful, being slotted with randos is torturous, there's nothing fun about the combat. Don't be kind to strangers, and if somebody is docked do them a favor and blast them off the side of the island before they sink a knife in your back. This "dark forest" mentality is 100% necessitated, and it isn't fun. The only two reasons to sink anyone is to either be douche, or sink them before they sink you. Again, I'm lucky enough to have some buddies who enjoy the game, if you don't - then do not engage.

Wish they were more focused on making better co-op modes for friends and optimizing against lag instead of pointless pride updates that appeal to almost nobody. The Microsoft mandatory login is horrible too. Alright game though when you're playing with a sane group.

Lacking content, the first 10 hours were fun to play with friends, but after that, there are no new mechanics. Just repetitive and boring tasks to earn money for cosmetics. Combat isn’t really enjoyable either. The game gets boring really fast. Good thing I only bought it at a 65% discount and didn’t pay full price.

Cant kick toxic team mates off my sloop, fix ur game.

You can spend two solid hours grinding, loading your ship with chests and loot, only for a cheater to show up, land every single shot with inhuman precision, and sink you in seconds. Or worse the game might randomly kick you, the servers go down right as you're about to cash in, and all your progress vanishes. And if you're really unlucky, like me, your entire account might reset back a week for no reason at all no warning, no explanation, and absolutely no way to reach support for help. trash game could be so much more fun if it still had support

9 Years old and still a stone cold classic, many times I have played this game and come away with nothing in the way of level ups or progress, but each and every time I had an amazing story to tell and so so much fun and thats what you want in a game.

One of the BEST open world multiplayer game i have ever played in my life. Not my favourite theme for a game but they really got me with all that the game has to offer. The organic pvp encounters are absolutely amazing almost movie scennario. But time really did this game dirty, slowly going to die, dev's did an awsome job they are still trying to revive the game with seasonal updates but it cannot really be the same again, had it's gllory days but now it is really a collapsing game, the game is 10x better if u play along friends also very fun

Fun game, but the constant server issues make it nearly unplayable. More than half the time I try to play it, it either fails to connect to server, or fails to initiate a session.

Last 10 patches made main point of the game so unpleasant, that i would'nt reccomend it even for my ops

Extremely low max FOV makes the game unplayable for people prone to motion sickness in games.

This is a very interesting and fun game! I am having lots of interesting fun and fun interests! There are so many fun interests, and interesting ways to have fun! It really is quite interesting how fun this is. There are so many fun things that are of interest, which is really both fun and interesting! All in all, a fun and interesting experience. It really piques my interest in a fun and interesting way! Truly a thrillingly fun and interestingly unique game. Interestingly enough, it can be quite frustrating, while being fun at the same time (frustrating in a fun way), which is an interesting dynamic. Truly a fun and interesting game!

LGBTQ+ supporters are sexy. negativity is a character flaw ♥

I've played this game for almost 3000 hours now, first on the Microsoft Store and now on Steam. During that time, unfortunately, I’ve encountered many issues in the game. Leaving aside the fact that most players are very toxic – that happens in every game and doesn't really bother me anymore – it's a different story when the game itself is full of problems. For example, there have been issues with hackers in this game ever since I started playing, and with the new season, even more hackers have returned. If I were a game developer, I’d find that pretty embarrassing. There are also a lot of bugs, which can sometimes be funny, but most of the time they’re just frustrating because they can really mess up the gameplay. A PvP/PvE game should at least be able to handle a few bugs to make the experience more enjoyable. One of the worst things, however, is that the servers can’t handle 8,000 players, which is just plain embarrassing. Honestly, I really enjoy playing this game, but when things end up like this and the updates do nothing against hackers, bugs, and exploits, you start to wonder if Rare is doing anything at all. Instead, they just keep adding events like Gold & Glory weekends, during which the servers are completely overloaded and you end up leaving disappointed. Müsst ihr wissen

Really looking forward to playing this game! That is, in a few years. I'm trying to run this on a device with ARM64, and neither steam or the devs seem to want ARM64 players to be able to do anything online(or even launch the game) due to the horrendous anticheat, which only works half the time anyways. The only way for ARM64 players to play is through immense research, running it through other programs or breaking the anticheat completely off the their computer, forcing themselves to play solo until they install the anticheat back. Like what???? Dude, I have a life. I cant spend hours breaking my computer and your game, just to play a game that I'm supposed to be able to launch in 30 seconds. Anyone that has ARM64, feel free to buy it, maybe they fixed it by now, but seriously, wouldn't recommend. Which sucks, because I was planning on binging this game that I've been waiting weeks for, only to buy it with the summer deal, and find out that I wasted my money.

500 hours in total gameplay, i can assure you its not worth geting it if not from the xbox gamepass for free. Key issues: -Rampant cheating in pvp mod where you need to get the only good curses (They are exeptional skins with uniqe accesory designe.) -unstabel servers where no mater how good your intenret is it will not give you beter than 40 ms -No meaningfull progres what so ever. -No real fun if you are a loner and good luck fidning a good guild or party to play with if you have less than 300-500h of playtime in your hand. -If you dont pay or play thousnds of hours, you wont get any good skin wich the reason you grind in the first place. The reason why i have so much time even tough i hate it becose im willing to give the game a chanc to redeem itself and time and time agine it faild me. Never grew out of losing all my treasure that i collected for hours from others who have infinitly more time playing this and mastering it and the cheaters ofcorse. Unles you are a no-life with a fat check i dont recomand to play this game.

Really fun to play along-side friends, however, the game lags a feeling of progression, through the hours you put it.

Could be a fun game if they didn't make money restrictions on safer seas. Getting outpost camped by people too lazy to explore and loot is not my idea of a fun experience

Very bad game. At one point you are at the top having everything and boom you get swabbed and are suddenly on a calm little island with your ship ready for your next adventure like you werent just thinking of uninstalling. Also please add an Anti-aliasing setting.

terrible game... zero progression the same thing over and over... okay for 5-10 but other than children i cant see who enjoys zero upgrades the same weapons and the same fights... all that paired with sweaty degenerates that main this trash game run a smaller ship with 2 people beats 5 people on a big ship pounding there ship with cannnons... this has been a waste of time and i discourage anyone else from doing the same

I have over 200 hours in this game and the game is truly ass pvp is cringe and the PVE portion of the game is just boring sloops have to much mobility and the other ships cant even fight them if the enemy crew has one working brain cell would. this game is not a game it is sailing in circle sim so if you like not doing anything then randomly loseing everything you should play this game

Cool pirate game, way more fun with a crew of friends maximum 4 people can play together. There is a lot of content to play in the game, supports both PvP and PvE playing style.

Game gets worse with every update, more instability and more bugs/exploits. Rare has abandoned their most dedicated and competitive community, in search for a casual community that will unload their wallet for the emporium.

First off, the pvp is extremely toxic. Secondly the servers are down like half the time. Thirdly, the way they handle criticism is horrible. this is the only place I can criticize the game because they lock all discussions before you even get a chance to chime in, especially the stupid alphabet "people" post. Instead of fixing their servers, they would rather appeal to the minority to get those goody social points. I have a lot more hours on my xbox in this game and it used to be fun at the start, but not anymore. I wouldn't even accept a free offer of this game.

Game is grind grind grind with little pay out. Also you can't sail multiple ships in an armada, so trying to play with more than 4 friends isn't a thing. There is no real upgrades in this game ether; just money to look more cool, but no real upgrades to weapons or ships.Plus, I don't want politics in my game. Just because it's June they have to cater to a small group of people instead of just...catering to people as people. Not a great buy in my opinion. Cheers!
