If you played the old ratchet & clank games on ps 2. This is a major throwback and they freaking nailed it. only downside they didnt have Dr.Nefarious "Break ads" which could be awsome. other than that. GOOD AHHH GAME

I quickly fell in love with the franchise and have played around 90% of the available games. To give a brief overall impression, this latest installment is well made but performs significantly better on PlayStation, though it still runs smoothly on PC. The story is a welcome continuation of the existing series, as it actually contributes more directly to the main storyline this time around. Visually and atmospherically, the game is stunning, truly impressive in terms of graphics and overall immersion. However, I personally found it a bit short. Despite how good it looks and feels, it’s noticeably quicker to complete compared to earlier major entries like Tools of Destruction or Crack in Time. One point worth mentioning is that the game now feels more tailored to a younger audience. It lacks some of the mystery and seriousness that characterized the older titles. Similarly, the challenges has been scaled down, the challenge mode, in particular, feels rather superficial. It’s possible to breeze through the game without much strategy, which is a bit disappointing for longtime fans who enjoyed a higher level of difficulty.

There’s a lot to praise in Rift Apart — gorgeous visuals, tight gameplay, emotionally resonant storytelling — but let’s address the dimension-sized elephant in the room: Rivet. Insomniac introduces one cool, tough, battle-scarred female Lombax with a robot arm and suddenly half the fanbase forgets what air tastes like. You’d think she was designed by a committee of furries and Reddit mods in a lab fueled by Monster Energy and unchecked horniness. The moment she showed up on screen, thousands of fans collectively entered a goon trance so powerful it echoed across the multiverse. Some of these people didn’t see the credits roll — they just looped Rivet’s idle animations like it was spiritual content. Somewhere out there is a guy who paused the game during a cutscene, lit candles, and whispered, “She’s just like me fr” before never being seen again. Fan art exploded overnight. We’re not talking classy portrait sketches — no, we're talking “I spent 17 hours rendering her fur in Blender and I haven’t spoken to my family since launch” levels of dedication. The goon caves grew stronger. The light of sanity dimmed. Meanwhile, Insomniac is just trying to tell a heartfelt story about identity and hope in a collapsing universe, and here’s Kyle69 posting “Rivet can blow up my dimension next 😩” in the steam forums like it’s a sacred ritual. These people are not playing Ratchet & Clank. They are playing a very different kind of single-player game. Final Verdict: Incredible gameplay, lovable characters, beautiful worlds. But if you hear someone say they’re “replaying Rift Apart for the plot,” just know their controller’s been untouched for hours and their GPU fan sounds exhausted. 10/10, but y’all need help. Or at least a cold shower.

Fell in love with the franchise shortly after the first game's release back in 2002 and I've played Every.Single.Entry, whether mainline, or spinoff. Ratchet & Clank never fails to disappoint, if you're an oldschool 3D platformer fan, even with a few hiccups here and there like Secret Agent Clank or Size Matters. The franchise has tried other formulas, like with Deadlocked, which although was a lot of fun, it is the classic formula established by the OG trilogy, and perfected by the Future trilogy what makes these games so enjoyable. I'm glad they went with that with Rift Apart. Sure, it is more of the same, but the story, characters, visuals and new gameplay elements bring a whole new way to get your R&C fix. And oh lord, do I personally love Rivet!! This is the best possible way they could've introduced another Lombax to the story. She is endearing and her character design is perfect!! The first time they did it back int he PS3, I wasn't too much of a fan. Although Alister was a pretty interesting character and pushed the story of A Crack in Time, he was... unlikable. Not only that, but his design choice was weird at best. That left me wanting a proper Lombax in the game, besides Ratchet. And we finally got it!!(Angela? We don't talk about Angela. She never happened. She is not a Lombax and I'll die on that hill! Fight me!!). I'm happy to finally be able to play this, even 2 years late. My old PC just could not handle this game properly, so I sat on it until I had enough to build a new rig, so I could max it out and play it as intended. And I'm so glad I did!! Visually, the game is stunning. My only big complaint is the very notorious audio bugs. The sound balance is horrendous. You can barely hear some weapons, voice overs, and some sound effects that should be subdued tend to be overblown for no reason. The game tries to run with surround sound by default, which I believe is its major problem. No way of deactivating this, and both the Audio Complexity or Home Theater/Sound Bar/Headphone settings do nothing. Setting the game in Mono does help voices stay fixed in the center speaker, but there are still some sounds that are still way too weak, and Mono just feels bland overall. My other complaint is that so far, this game doesn't really feel groundbraking compared to older titles. I know I'm contradicting myself as I said I love the old formula, but they try to copy it with not much effort. Say for instance, the large planets are back, but most of them are absolutely barren, with very few enemies scattered around, unlike the intense, yet oddly relaxing ones we had in the older games (the sewers, the icy tundra, or the desert). The Arena is cool, but it lacks ambiance and vibe of the older ones, like in Future, Going Commando, or Up Your Arsenal. And lastly, the game is too easy! Let us find secrets ourselves instead of putting them on the map. Skill Points are absent. Make it so you can't complete everything during the first run, or without certain bonus items! Overall, I'm really enjoying this game. Not the best of the main games, but the visuals alone and the characters heavily compensate for it. Just like the old days!!

this game is an amazing follow on in the Ratchet and Clank series. this game is really fun to play with amazing pacing. i was able to 100% the game in my first play through with only needing to use google twice. it makes it very easy to do most of the side missions and get the collectables without a walk through. i would really recommend this game to someone who loves the series or someone who has heard about it and wants to have some fun chilled gaming session

I forgot to write a review when I first played this. I found it to be worth every penny, loved the combat and exploration. Story was pretty decent, too. Worth it if you've ever enjoyed any of the other games in the series.

One of the best 3D platformers I have ever played. The graphics are beautiful, and every aspect of the game oozes fun. I loved the large variety of gun weapons to use, and exploring the action packed well-designed levels.

Just playing the beginning segment a LOT of effort has been put into this game, psn isnt forced *cough cough*, and its very appealing in both graphics and gameplay. Great job Insomniac.

I haven't played a RC game since the ps2 days. Eh this was OK but I think the games from way back are a lot better. I'd give this a 8 out of 10. Story is pretty easy to understand once you get about a hour in you will realize it's just your typical stop the bad guy from destroying the world! type of plot. Out of all the weapons I only played with about 6 of them. The rest just aren't appealing enough to play with.

Better than I worried, not as good as I would have wanted to hope for and when it's all said and done this series still peaked more than twenty years ago. If you're a hardcore lifelong Ratchet and Clank fan you should probably play this through one time or at least watch an LP but if you're new to the series just go dig up the original sixth console gen trilogy or even the seventh console gen "future" trilogy because both existing trilogies are better than this failed attempt at launching a third trilogy. Pros: The basic gameplay loop is still intact and the legacy characters aren't done completely dirty even if they do go out of character a little too often, and some of the alternate universe versions are somewhat funny as throwaway gags like for instance a genuinely heroic version of Captain Qwark or the competent version of Dr Nefarious who bullies the one we know relentlessly. Cons: Difficulty completely trivialized by over generous health and ammo pickups as well as a lengthy i-frame phase dash move, all the new characters are insufferably twee and the writing constantly falls into MCU tropes and millennial writing slop. It's often said that the series lost it's edge after the end of the original trilogy and what it seems to have lost between the future trilogy and Rift Apart is it's tone.

If you have never played a R&C game go buy this game, play the first 3 games, and go away cuz I'm about to geek out Also minor spoilers as far as weapons but I'm not telling what the RYNO does so don't worry. It's no R&C Going Commando but definitely worth playing if you're a big fan of the franchise like me. A bit on the short side but not as short as Into the Nexus. Good story as usual but not the best in fact probably one of my least favorite out of the franchise. Next to Deadlocked The new Lombax's story was "Riviting" you could say? (Hehehehe) Unfortunately the humor was almost nonexistent which is unfortunate because R&C was kinda known for that. Ahh yes, the weapons. Over half are new except the classics like, the Bouncer, the Warmonger, the Buzz Blades' the Glove of Doom, and the Pixelizer (IDK why they added this). And of course the reskins of basically the same weapon but with a different name, the pistol, the bomb glove, the sniper, you get it. The RYNO was kinda lame IMO. They might as well have gotten rid of armor, it's now a collectible that give a small bonus if you get the full set. you can still wear it but none of them look too great except 1, and you will have to see that for yourself, but you will probably know once you get it (Hint it's from the 2nd game) The collectibles just aren't the same anymore there really easy to find and not super worth it. Graphics are similar to the remake on PS4 but better and not able to run on max on my decent gaming PC In summary. If you are a R&C fan it's worth playing for sure. As far as placement I would say it's a little worse than the PS4 remake but better than something like Quest for Booty or Deadlocked

Fun game for $40 at most, not $60. If you've played a previous R+C title and enjoyed it chances are you will enjoy this one as well. I don't do incredibly detailed breakdowns of any or all bugs or features mostly because it's been so long since I played previous R+C titles that I can't remember them enough to make any comparisons. It's rather short is the only thing I'll say. I think I'm somewhere around 40 hours total and I've already beaten twice on average difficulty and working on finishing on hardest. Wish Sony would remaster all previous R+C titles and make them available on PC/Steam. I'd pay $20 each for what like 5 of them?

I like this game for what it is. Although, I much prefer Action Sci-Fi games which are more serious and aren't too much on the silly and wacky side. However, that is just a personal preference. Decent story and combat. I liked the weapons, armour and gunplay. The game runs smoothly and I haven't encountered any bugs or glitches. I'd pick up this game once in awhile to play. I'll recommend. 7/10.

I was extremely paranoid after seeing the Nixxes/ Insomniac logo when the game loaded after the issues I had with Spiderman Remastered crashing and corrupting my saves. This game only crashed twice during my 21 hour playthrough but I didn't lose progress. Now onto the review. This game is extremely fun. It reminded me of the fun I had as a child playing video games. It is very engaging and visually stimulating. 100%ing the game is relatively fast with only 43 collectibles. I think the Omega Weapon system is intriguing enough to commit to a Challenge (NG+) playthrough. As much as I would like the game itself to be longer, I think it being relatively short is one of the reasons it's so fun. It's basically 20 hours of non-stop action so there's never a moment where you feel bored playing it.

Much like the older R&C games, this one is just pure fun. The story is engaging and the characters are great. Even if you haven't played the older games, you can piece together the general story. Though, I hope they port them eventually! The gun variety is fun which allows for different ways to engage in combat. It is rather short, 15 hours for the campaign but I am willing to forgive that. This game looks absolutely gorgeous, I was playing on max settings (no ray tracing) with an RX 9070 @ 1440p. With that said - this port might not play friendly with your rig, it didn't play well on my rog ally (Z1 ex) or RTX 3060 and would crash frequently. I recommend the game itself, though the port maybe needed a bit more time in the oven.

I really enjoyed how the game played and the how the story line came together. Graphics were great. If you overload gun fire it might skip a little but I didn't have to much of that. All in all there is game play for hours with puzzles to solve. Kept me hyper focused.

Although i love the game on PS5... the PC port is just downright horrible. even decent PCs will have difficulty to play the game with medium quality. i myself am playing on low quality and my game still stutters sometimes. worst of all: at some point in early game, my game stuttered so much that it completely locked the save. i can move, but can no longer shoot and am in a state of "out of border"... trying to glitch back into the game field does not solve it, respawning does not solve it and neither does restarting the game. whoever ported this game to PC should be ashamed of themself.

Besides the amazing graphics, this franchise seems to have evolved very little since the second and third games. However, what this franchise has done is refined the formula to perfection. I can't think of a single moment in this game where I was not having fun. And I really love Rivet. It's refreshing to have a female character who written to be the equal partner to the male protagonist and not the superior replacement as has been the trend recently.

Nobody did QA on this game. You have to disable 15 settings just for it to look and play decent. e.g; camera constantly fighting you, interruptions every 10 seconds to tell you to do something you HAVE BEEN DOING, and if you use the "disable all tutorials" the game stops giving you mission objectives. What the f uck Sony? What the f uck insomniac??? Edit: Oh I forgot! There's no mini-map, the map doesn't center on you, and the only way to even get on screen objective markers is to turn it on specifically, good luck finding it through, it's buried!

Gameplay = great. Story = ok. Characters = bland. I won't harp on my nostalgia for the original trilogy, but Ratchet and Clank themselves feel a bit shallow and overly "positive" about everything all the time always. It gives the characters a sense of assured arrogance that the original writing didn't have. It's kinda turned me away from the game

I tried to like it. I've played from 1 through to Nexus. Rift Apart is bad. I bought it on sale. £50 or your regional price is a rip off. If you want a Ratchet and Clank game, pull out your PS2 or PS3 and blow the dust off. They're still brilliant games. I replayed the first one before buying this game and I still love it despite its flaws. However if you want a game with... no music playing, graphics that look bad on anything but the highest AI setting, bad hair/fur/fabric rendering, forced references "Remember this?", crap motion captured animation straight out of a 3D Sonic game, bad texture mapping, repetitive reminders "Player we were going to go do X mission!" every minute, noticeably low quality programming and UX design, weird jokes like replacing bolts with rubies or energy drink cans, a disabled female protagonist who outshines the clumsy useless male protagonist of the series (why is he in this game?) that you may have the misfortune to find the devs historic arguing on twitter as to her gender identity, costume changes that have the arm cut off for said disabled character but were not adjusted for her frame (shirts create a hole where her hips join because they're wide), terrible dialogue tropes, terrible dialogue in general, talk about baby showers, girly locales such as a nightclub or a cocktail bar, dull backdrops that are often expansive nothingness, art design noticeably influenced by cutsie anime instead of comic superhero Sci-Fi, an air of hyperactivity or ADHD, repetitive animations, poorly thought out box platformer levels, the philosophy of awkward is the new cool, yet another game with wall running, this time implemented fine but you can't avoid enemy's shots, yet another story about a multiverse with redesigned characters, yet another game where you press circle (or B, or your keyboard button of choice) to instantly dodge literally anything and the enemy attacks being designed around this rendering jumping as pointless, weightless jumping that I swear wasn't like this even in the PS3 games, boring weapons, terrain scatter placed floating in the air, out of bounds areas you can just hop over terrain to explore, set dressing that's clipping into other models badly like a dinosaur's tail going directly into rock, a dragon mount that shoots bullets instead of breathing fire, a more boring arena to fight in than even Nexus... every step I take I cannot see the sunshine, just another unfinished product. I assume this is what was wrong with the 2016 game that I avoided for the same reason any other fan of the series did or wish they had. I hope the terrible revisionist storyline of the Future series was answered by this game, it'd be the cherry on the top if it actually used a dimension plot to do nothing with Ratchet's species but spin wheels. I assume Angela Cross is still considered non-canon and it's because of internal drama. I think even Tools of Destruction, the unfinished and bad PS3 alleged tech demo, was made with love. I don't think this was made with love. I think it's unprofessional. The morbid references to Dan Johnson, a dead employee, are more in your face this time and joined by a morbid reference to Craig Goodman. I don't know what these two artists did for Insomniac and no-one on the internet does either. I'm not sure why Insomniac doesn't want to celebrate its current employees as much today, as that's what the Dan Johnson references were to begin with. I'm not sure who this is for. The characters are for girls, the gameplay is for boys, the tone is as if the game's worried you're looking at your phone instead of playing, the jokes won't even make your mother laugh, the product is unfinished. Just make a new IP, Insomniac, you clearly don't like this one.
