you have a wonderfull time, especially when you finally learn it. 500 hours just for base game. at 1.5k hours now, still dont know navy. what do u get in return on may ask. absolutely nothing but pain, no life, social damage and becoming a history geek, 10/10

Cool game but it IS stupidly hard to learn. if you wanna actually play the game with success, you will have to watch a bunch of long youtube videos

Great game to play in terms of strategy. I would not recommend buying all of the DLCs and I must warn that the game optimization can be unforgivable. Other than that, great fun game to play (and mod).

This game is great, up until about the 1865th hour, then it SUCKS! i recommend playing this game for about 1800 hours to see if you like it before committing any real time to it

This game has been my number 1 game for over a year now, Do i love it yes, Am i bad at it also yes, but i also wouldnt have it any other way, I dont play with the goal of taking over the world yet. just setting out goals i know i can do like making Argentina into a South American power house. you should 100% buy this game

its just ok ...or at least that's what I would say if the game didn't have such a brilliant modding community. I COULD NOT play this game without mods, and you shouldn't either.

- join my first game as german reich - successfully invade the netherlands somehow - try to invade poland but gets invaded by the UK instead - switches to USSR - realise i have a war goal on iran that i didnt know about - invade iran successfully - adopts communism as the ideal way to live apart from all of that, very good game rate 10/10

15 hours in and I am uninstalling this game. I might come back to it, who knows. After three attempts at really long lists of complaints, let me keep it short. If you like autistic levels of detail and micromanaging an entire country, look no further. This is your game. If you're just looking for something fun that you can play with and experiment with... run. A ton of work has gone into making this game. Don't get me wrong, it's well made. But it is not a casual, fun, experience. HoI IV is a career, and it's not what I am looking for.

It only takes roughly 500 hours to understand 45% of how all the systems work and interact with one another. Other than that it's a great game, high recommend for player who enjoy grand strategy games and the possibilities of alternate history.

I believe i sincerely suck at this game: it almost feels like getting rammed by the whole allies even in non-historical is a tad too complicated for a lad like me. Haven't played a lot (yet), but I've always watched many playthroughs and lemme tell you, they are quite different compared to all the actual logistics you have to deal with. Would love to say that I love this game, but Ive given up for now. If your strategy based war game makes it too hard to even understand how to attack you failed. I watched just as many hours watching youtube video as I have playing this game and I STILL DONT KNOW HOW TO ATTACK. potential to be a great game but if you put in this much time to make a game this intricate take the extra time to give us hints as to why shit isnt working for us. Im pissed and for one reason only. This game has POTENTIAL. Dont even give it a chance if you dont have hundreds of hours of time each couple weeks.

The game has a horrible tutorial that barely teaches about the game, and all the tutorials are 3 hours long with giving like no information.

Not recommended for people who do not have the time for long exasperating games. There is a difference between strategy and complication. HOI IV needs a written manual larger than Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" just to explain all of the stuff in it. If you go to YouTube for advice on a walk through, that's not a good way to go either since most of the streamers will gloss over stuff they don't use and ram too much info about the stuff they DO use. The most sane streamer gave me a lot of info I needed and a lot of stuff I didn't. After a while all of this micro-management nonsense gets tedious, not fun. I enjoy complexity to a point and this game might prove useful someday, but with all of the plug-and-play games that allow you a relaxing game night experience why would you go though this frustration? Go along and play through the non war years and everything is great - slow, but great. Then war time hits and your play screen is littered with windows you can't remove, enemies that decimate your troops even on easy mode with no money to replace them or a strategy guide to explain why it happened, and troops that do not move like the walk-throughs state. Not to mention hot keys are all set up in a fashion that is not efficient. I might stick with this game to break it's stupidity, but that's the stubborn side of me. If you are looking for a good war game go for Medieval Total War. You want a good WWII game? Go for Kards or Cold Waters. Ignore this insanity.

This game is shit compared to CK3 and Europa games. It is fun to watch someone play it that is why I bought it but turns out it is hella boring.

I heard this game was supposed teach you things about the military. I learned yesterday that a large part of the military is a "navy" (armed ships that engage enemy ships in water). THIS GAME DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A NAVY FEATURE!!! In addition to this, Hearts of Iron 4 has trapped me in my mothers basement for all of my years of playing. I am eternally trapped in a state of unemployment, I lost all my friends, I have no rizz, no assets; my only purpose is to watch Bitt3rsteel, and "build civs, build mills, make army, use army, and start a new game because all of my tanks ran out of f**king fuel, my air force is out of range (i'm to lazy to fix it) and all my infantry has attrition only imaginable by god himself in the middle of the Soviet Onion." My advice to anyone thinking of getting this game: pick up your phone, scroll on a social media of your choice, for however long to develop ADHD (the only cure to a HOI4 addiction) and save yourself. All the other positive reviews were made at gunpoint via paradox. Please don't end up like me. Let this be the last comment you read before you close your device, go get yourself a job, start a family, and live a long and healthy life; before it's too late...

I went into Hearts of Iron IV knowing that the game had a massive learning curve, but I didn't expect that the game would do barely anything to help you understand it. Even through watching hour long videos about just the basics of the game, it's so difficult to understand and it's disappointing that you have to watch hours beyond hours of tutorials to just get into the game. If you're up to the challenge and like big learning curve games, there is no doubt that this game is awesome and has many cool features, DLCs, and challenges to complete, but you should be able to learn the basics of the game inside the game.

Very Hard... Very Good. I would recommend watching several tutorials and guides on how to play this game. Be prepared to be frustrated but have fun doing it.

good concept of a game that i really enjoy, the problem is that it is flooded with paid dlc instead of actual updates which make the game playable. It also keeps on fucking crashing for no apparent reason. 0.10/10 at least mods can partially fix the games problems.

Hearts of Iron IV truly is one of the best military strategy games. What I like especially is the amount of detail put into the army, navy, and air force and you can also choose many different options for alternate history, when going down each nation's focus tree. The navy especially is extremely detailed and though I have 1,000 hours in the game I still don't understand it all but I am learning. Thankfully the developers give you all of the information you need to help you learn the game and it is even better when you play multiplayer with friends.

W game . DLC’s are fire . S tier soundtrack . I am little bit stupid to play the game well , but i think all people will manage to play it after like 5h of game play . With so many mods the game is playable for hundreds of hours . The newsletters in game have fire art

1600 Hours one world conquest and still cant beat the Soviets as Germany. Cheats easy to use would recommend Hoi4.

very fun game i must say, took me around 15 hours to understand the full game. Will suggest watching or at least finding tutorials about the game before getting it and if you have a friend that plays, ask him to teach you, it will take less than an hour if he does. This game is also on sale a lot, so if you don't have 50 euro, wait until its on sale for 15 euro. Great game, very fun to play especially if you have friends to play with too.

The Great War mod always crashes just after the Soviet's are destroyed. No matter what I do, or which route it takes, After the Soviets die, the game dies.

I personally love this game because it is one of the best strategy games. HOI4 is interesting,you can create your own alternate scenario for ww2, create your own army and rule your country however you like. But there is a huge problem, this game is too unplayable if you buy only the base game. I don't like how i have to buy many dlcs just for my game to function properly and not make any historical mistakes. I hate how i have to buy 20 dollar DLC every year just for it to litterally give me focus trees for only 3 countries, And if you want everything including the DLCs,It costs almost 180 bucks?! That's too expensive! I can't just spend that much just for the game to work fine. Please Paradox, make them more affordable or improve the base game.
