After 300 hours invested in this game I gave up on trying to understand how the marine works. 10/10 would recommend.

i love the base game but with the continued spiral of greed from paradox i cannot support them any longer just because the base game is good wont save it from the greed

This game will ensure any distraction you have causes your plans to collapse, every mistake is exploited fully. You will have no idea what the best choices are, you wont know what the information on your screen means. You will shift+cliick instead of right click and lose a war. And nothing will go to plan. If you think you know whats going on and what you are doing, then you are probably unaware of how 80% of the game works. You should watch at least 100 hours of youtube tutorials to have a better idea of what you have no idea bout. You will always be a noob at this game, 10,000 hours may get you to low-intermetiate ability if an update or DLC doesnt change everything. And yet, it is a actually a lot of fun and very addictive, I recommend this game fully. Never before has it been so fun to be a complete idiot and feel stupid. Only wish the tutorial was updated so it would progress further than just how to make a frontline and assign an airwing to bomb part of Africa

This game is shit compared to CK3 and Europa games. It is fun to watch someone play it that is why I bought it but turns out it is hella boring.

Great game to play in terms of strategy. I would not recommend buying all of the DLCs and I must warn that the game optimization can be unforgivable. Other than that, great fun game to play (and mod).

When i see this game, it is almost like my brain is hijacked by paradox themselves and a suductive little individual is begging for me to click on the very distinct hex color.

THIS GAME IS DIGITAL DRUGS STAY AWAY FROM IT Its not even been 1 month since I've bought it and I almost have a hundred hours At first you'll be overwhelmed but quickly you'll realize its not too complicated at all.

Quite possibly one of the best strategy games I've ever played, it's up there with Star Wars Empire at War, XCOM, and another Paradox game: Stellaris. It's truly one of the best games in the genre; it has a lot of great systems, which unfortunately are behind some pay walls, but as someone who has nearly all the DLC, it is very much worth the hard-earned money. This is a game I'd recommend to anyone looking to get into Paradox games and or Strategy games as it's a good baseline at its surface, and a very complex game if you very much want to get into it!

Brilliant game, the modding makes this game top notch with unlimited replay-ability.

when I first purchased this game it worked amazingly well and was a lot of fun. Then they patched it with a bunch of purchasable DLC that I never wanted and to this day have never used and I had to start over. Fine. I play one scenario through to to completion then they patched it again with more new content that has nothing to do with the core game. I had to uninstall/reinstall the game because it would do nothing but crash. Now I cannot even play through the game without it crashing and uninstall/reinstall. when I bought this game two years ago I would have recommended this game. Now I own this game and I cannot get my value out of it because they keep adding new content that keeps bugging the game making it impossible to play.

It was a good game at first, at least from a tactical point of view.. Diplomacy = zero points and constantly improving the game = freezes.. Over 4000 hours played, thank you and that's enough, I'll uninstall it today

Just to give game a competition factor, they made most of simple things complicated, trying their best to spent your life on this game just to learn one nation, focus tree makes the game feel limited. To sum up this game is not for casual players.

Very Hard... Very Good. I would recommend watching several tutorials and guides on how to play this game. Be prepared to be frustrated but have fun doing it.

Playing the game, about a few hours in, talking to friends. I state to said friends that I am having fun, and they both promptly correct me, telling me how this game isn't supposed to be fun. They were VERY right.....Anyways 10/10.

I have never been more frustrated with a game before this one. The amount of things you have to keep track of and lack of explanation for most things makes me want to punch a hole through my screen. I've played for three hours and still haven't gotten past the tutorial. Would never advise anyone who gets overwhelmed easily to play this game.

this game is very casual, and primitive. it has only 2 kinda good things: focus system and miltary. in other aspects it either just bad(for example economy) or they are missing at all(diplomacy). the only things that could make you stay here are mods(they can be fun) and pure military autism, when you look how your divisions surrounded your enemy's divisions, and you happy because of this. its not historically accurate, its not deep, its not simulative, but it is buggy, messy, and overall not that good. 4/10

A good game would let you play out WW2, maybe making a few different decisions along the way. A great game would let you enforce the Monroe doctrine one the entire world as you fight Kaiser Wilhelm, Conquer all of South America, make Cuba have a communist coup to I can feel good about invading it, destroy the Japanese shogunate, fight a surprisingly strong Bhutan, fight trotskey, and then accidentally delete the save. This game is splendid. 5 balkinized Africa's out of 5 "I've been staring at a map for hours" Also on an unrelated note, the only way paradox can save "graveyard of empires" is by adding a tree for Syria, and then having a secret path where you get to install Bashar Al-Assad as leader. And when you do that it plays a symphonic version of "God, Syria, and Bashar".

the game is an unbelievable waste of time. doesnt come anywhere close to being anything worthwhile for singleplayer. done with paradox game sin general. ultimately shallow gameplay where the AI is given insurmountable cheats. a lot of time playing their games. develop your life in another manner. please.

really fun! but the save system is absolute dogshit i have lost runs because of not reading decisions or misclicking and it only allows 1 save ironman mode is bullshit for no reason because you cant save manually with it the load save sytem makes no sense

There seems to be a lack of grand strategy games nowadays that truly tap into the player's strategic potential. HOI4 is a modern masterpiece.

Great game if you want to waste your entire day and feel awful for it by getting absolutely nothing done in 8 hours. Genuinely so addictive it draws you in.

I didnt understand it first but after i played without watching tutorials for about 100 hours i started to understand the game. It says it is complex for new players but i think it is not. happy gaming

Amazing strategic game-play, perfect blend or rts/ 4x strategy. one of the hardest learning curves, but once you understand the intricacies of land/air/ and SEA combat. i have still yet to get into nukes/missiles because this is great game if you want to fuck around and find out. USA will rebel because you tried to go fascist/ communist/ play as them. Germany/Japan are POWERHOUSES. But when you try and conquer the planet with your giant force, and millions of manpower you. At first you're taking land with glee, and vigor watching as your countries name extends over Europe/Asia and then you declare war on a country who just joined a faction/or while you are conquering them join a faction. and realize REAL QUICK how the axis lost to a combined air/ sea/ land invasions from MULTIPLE COUNTRIES. trust me, the game is amazing, and one the greatest historical masterpieces I've seen/ read/ played. Humbling, and enlightening. Message to Creators: The only things i want to see more of are, Missions for other countries like every country if possible, maybe not based on a leader. But based on "what your country expects from you maybe a mix between the american and mussolini/stalin missions? and you can keep those countries unique by providing more missions, or keeping the minor country missions very small. and of course longer and more unique trees for every country. I also love the additions of the Road to 56 MOD to research/unit types for regular game mode. which can still be historically accurate. And also unique extras (gacha, zombies, aliens, sea monsters?) just some fun things, possibly DLC? Either way the game is amazing!!!
