As someone with real world experience, no, it isn't close to reality, but it does a good job of mimicking the time it takes to do certain jobs. Lifting the hoist up and down repeatedly, forgetting a part, missing something when putting it back together... all stuff that happens in the real shop. The fun is in buying salvage cars or auction cars and fixing them up. I love that you can also find cars in barns and junkyards... gotta have some jank if you're a real car enthusiast. It's a satisfying game if you like fixing up cars, and want something to relax with in the evenings.

I've always been an open world type of gamer and never considered to play sim games. I was bored one weekend and decided to try this game out for a change of pace. This game had me hooked from the start. I'm not a big car guy but I do know my way around cars when needed. This game hit all the boxes for me, progression, game loop, chill vibe, and how real it feels for a game. I played many sim games since this one looking for the same experience but haven't found it yet. It will help the most novice car person a thing or two about how cars work and put together in a fun way. IMO its worth the cost and amount of time you will spend playing this game, If you want a fun chill game that will actually teach you something about cars then you might want to try this game. recommend/ 8/10

Pretty cool. I feel like if you don't know crap about cars, you'll actually learn some really practical, good basic things about them in terms of parts and repairs.

I've always enjoyed cars but never knew much about the mechanical side of them. This is a super fun way to get more familiar with what's going on underneath the surface, and it's super accessible for total newbs! It was on my radar for quite some time but I felt a bit intimidated by the depth of it - def nothing to worry about if new to the mechanical world.

Really enjoyable, but the beginning can be a bit confusing until you figure things out. The DLCs are definitely worth it during sales, especially if you’re into cars from brands like Chevrolet, Jaguar, or BMW.

very fun for the first little while and will quickly get boring but thankfully there is a huge modding scene so you can have almost infinite possibilities with cars and parts

Good game. I'd like to see more parts to repair and replace, and more problems to troubleshoot, but it scratches an itch.

As a former mechanic who is too fat and tired of sweating to do the physical work anymore, this game lets me do the work without sweating and I love it. This is how AI and robotics should be used. AI to do the task we assign through robotics as we oversee the work from the comfort of our own homes.

Disappointing. I've played CMS 2018 before, enjoyed it, I like the concept. So as this is the successor it must be a lot better, right? Well, no. It's underwhelming. They added new "mechanics", if you could call them that, but nothing players actually wanted. A little garage customization, better graphics, a few DLCs - most of which suck. The game feels exactly the same always. There is some miniscule variety of cars, you see a few specific ones 24/7 and that's it. Some parts have 5 variations for no reason, others are used in completely different cars. I'm playing on Normal and the "story" just feels like a crawl. You make no money at all, a financial slog, you waste so much time, then you upgrade your garage, still get shit payouts. If you mod or cheat it definitely is a better experience, when you do what YOU want to do. Not change fluids of a car for the 1000th time to earn 100$. So you can eventually get 100,000$ to upgrade your garage, so you can finish your "Story" "mission". It's an okay game overall, but... yeah... Gets extremely repetitive and very boring. If you do wanna still get it, get it on a massive sale. The price still isn't justified but anyway. Feels dated... 2021, bruh... 4.5/10

Even More Realistic than CMS18, but i miss the Carstorage where it was 10 cars where you could walk freely in the Garage. Now its this weird infinte individual Garages where cars without wheels dont even come out. So you have no real option to inspect them first and bring them to the garage later. I still love the silly names for all the defintly not knock offs of real cars. I also like the new option between crappy and pristine vehicle car auctions.

I have played Car Mechanic Simulator since the first release and have to say that somehow with every new release they keep draining the fun out of the game. While I can appreciate they are trying to keep things as realistic as possible they forget this is a game first and foremost. The actual game mechanics they put in are implemented in such a way it is just not appealing. To start the balance is totally messed up. Let's say you spill oil or such that costs you 50-100 credits but if you complete an oil change job your only making about 10 credits of profit after the cost. Then there is the total lack of informing players properly of items. A good example is the body repair workbench, it only tells you that you need the repair perk not that you need the level 6 repair perk. I wasted my early money on the workbench thinking I could start to make better money only to find out I'm no where close to it, I was only lvl 2 repair at the time. Doing jobs get's super annoying when for example you need to replace parts deep in an engine so you pull the engine out and put it on the stand to make it easy to work on but you loose the ability to highlight the exact part you need to replace so if by chance you pull lets say all pistons and replace the bad ones but don't put the new parts in the exact spot the bad ones were you might find out oh you need to change them up. only after putting the entire engine back together and put it back into the car to find this out. Scrap credit is totally bull shit. The cost to upgrade parts vs how much you can get is way too lop sided and if the devs want to say well you don't have to upgrade all parts why even put it in to begin with then. Who only want's to upgrade a few select parts. Auctions are another thing that is broken with complete dumb programming. If you just watch an auction cars will easily go for 10K under the estimated value but if you take part no matter what you do it seems you can never get the car under the estimated value. I have personally tried to win 30 auctions and not a single time was I able to get the car under the estimated value at best I pust pay over. THe warehouse storage is another thing. It's designed so annoyingly cumbersom to use. I like trying to keep stuff somewhat seperated so that when I have projects it's easy to find what I want. You get different warehouses but you have to switch over to warehouse then select warehouse then go back to you inventory to put what you want away. Furthermore let's say you have a stockpile of upgraded parts from junkyard you bought and restored but you need something you have to remember the actual excact part you need cause god forbid you can pull up your shoping list or something. Scrapping parts for scrap credits is just painful. It's not bad at first when you get a handful but when you start getting pages it just becomes tedius and if you actually want to take part in upgrading is a must. Of all the areas in the game that really could have benifited from the skill tree this is one I don't understand how the devs overlooked. -the ability to mass scrap parts with filters, such as all parts that can only give 5 (adjustable) or less credits max then pay us (number of items = credits + 10-20% bonus scrap) -Letting us mass select parts (let's say limit to 10 or more) to play the game and outcome decides all. -Having a skill tree for scrapping where you can get differnt benefits. Like lvl 1 adds an extra green bar, lvl 2 adds an extra blue bar, lvl 3 slows the arrow by 10%, lvl 4 increased bonus scrap by 10%, level 5 if you mass scrap minigame but only get green you can choose to randomly get x amount of items back (not scrapped and not counted towards scrap credit), then for level 6 have it so each item give +1 scrap credit so minimum you get 2 scrap credit even from green. I can say the only thing I can appreciate that was added is how the shopping list can be used even if it still could use some polishing up such as letting us just open the list in the store and hit a buy all and have the items marked bought and removed from the list. I honestly can say with this release I have no interest in supporting Red Dot Games any further even if they did come back. If a new CMS did come out I doubt I would buy it even on sale unless they somehow discovered games are ment to be fun which they seem to have forgotten instead putting in needlessly grindy mechanics that suck any fun to be had out of the game.

Addicting, challenging, and definitely scratches the itch of taking things apart and putting them back together. Much easier on the wallet than a LEGO set! I can already tell I'm going to put several hours into restoring my favorite rides to automotive glory. My only first impression gripe right now is that the world feels more much more abandoned than any Fallout world, as there are literally no NPCs to interact with. It's just you vs the worn out vehicles.

I didn't expect much, since I usually play other types of games, but it's very soothing to just pick apart, fix and put together the cars while listening to music or podcast. So I open it when I want to chill and was surprised when I was suddenly +100 hours into the game.

This is my favorite game so far. I had to reset my computer and lost my save. I wasn't even mad. It has great replay value. If they come out with a newer version I'll be buying it on day one for sure. I also have car mechanic 2018. But i haven't played that one yet. I got it after this one. But i enjoy getting achievements in games.

I had a car with all issues fixed except one "part not discovered" that was still red. I test drove the car and highlighted the specific bushing that it says is bad, replaced it with brand new bushings 3 times, still says the bushing is bad. Its a bug in the highlighting feature or a bug in the registering new parts. Too bad, had fun for the first 3 hours of gameplay. After playing many story cars, this issue did not repeat. I think is s bug that impacts those of use who juggle min/maxing.

Super awesome game have always loved playing it only issues with game is i wish the height of the suspension was more adjustable and be able to mess with the ride height of the vehicles as well as i wish the parking of the cars in the parking lot wasn't in the storage units the way they are, only because if i'm looking for a specific one it takes longer than if it was in just an open lot or something like that. Otherwise the customizability with the cars and the mods and the community is awesome, love the game and everything its about would 100% support for a long time

Got this game months ago and it's definitely worth the money even at this age. I got it on the game pass on Xbox to try first. I fell in love and played it bunch on there. I ended up buying the steam version due to preferences of playing on PC. I ended up buying DLC as well and put a lot more time than I thought into it. Overall a great game. I didn't purchase DLC till i was well over 60hrs on the game and switched over from Xbox, so I had an additional 30+ hrs on there. It can hold your attention at base level if you enjoy getting to know the BASIC components of vehicle maintenance and restoring it to it's true beauty.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 is a big step forward for the series. The improved graphics, expanded car variety, and more detailed mechanics make it the best version so far. I love how much more immersive and realistic everything feels — from the car auctions to the test tracks and the larger, more customizable garage. There’s also a lot more depth in the repair and diagnostic systems, which makes the whole experience feel more complete. If you enjoyed the 2018 version, this one takes everything to the next level. It’s the perfect game to relax with while still feeling productive.

9/10 modding could be slightly easier, allowing new configs to be created through the car editor instead of game files. the Car editor also does not save body mods per trim/car version.

It's a fun game to pass the time. The game may not be the best representation of real life mechanics but it'll help you understand the different parts of a vehicle and how to mostly take one "apart" piece by piece.

Honestly out of all the things people get in to I've never been much in to cars but after this game I can honestly say that they are my new passion, learning how to dismantle them and mod them and the realism in the game is crazy! Even debating looking in to a qualification in mechanics because of how much I'm actually enjoying this game!

I thought this was going to be a chill game about fixing cars. Turns out, it’s actually a full-time job in disguise, especially when it comes to wheels. First, you have to take off the wheels. Then you have to separate the tire from the rim. Then you need to buy new tires and new rims. THEN you have to put them back together, balance them, and finally put them back on the car. Doing it once? Kinda satisfying. Doing it for 50 cars? Not 50 wheels — 50 full cars? It becomes a test of patience, sanity, and your will to live. If you love cars and enjoy mild to severe frustration, this game is a perfect fit. 10/10. Would spin tires and lose hours again.

It's pretty hard to tell which of the Simulator titled games are really actually a good game or just trying to mooch off of the "Simulator" titles. But Car Mechanic Simulator is awesome. With all the things you can do and repair, they really have a rock solid foundation for how you can tear the cars down, repair parts, get your shopping list in order to make ordering parts way easier, etc. This type of concept for a game could completely fall apart with the wrong design choices, but they do a great job of keeping all of the mechanics of the game (no pun intended) tied together cohesively. And the fact that you have randomized jobs is perfect for a game like this. It's just pure fun to play, and so the fact that the game keeps feeding you things to do is a huge bonus. Here's an example of how flexible the gameplay is. I didn't realize traveling to some of the other places in the game (Junkyard for example) costs money. I was just exploring the places to see what you could do, and I ran out of money. I couldn't finish my current jobs because I couldn't afford to buy the replacement parts. So what did I do? I yanked the doors, hood, and trunk off the dude's car and sold them. Parked the car outside and used the money to accept other jobs I Could complete. Once I racked up plenty of money, I went back to his car, bought the missing items back and had plenty of money buy the replacement parts to finish the job and continue on my merry way. To me, that's what a real Simulator title is about. Not being tied to a linear experience for everyone who plays it, but you can actually have your own unique experiences with the game. Definitely recommended!
