Only game I can play endlessly in VR without getting sick and having a grandiose time while doing so. Made me lose weight. Just wish that it wouldn't brick my mods on every update when all that's been added is just more songs.

I mean like, it's Beat Saber. If you have a VR headset, you have Beat Saber, there's no question about it. This game is great and it shows in the number of players it still maintains to this day. This review is not gonna be helpful for you because everything I could say has been said and is common knowledge to everyone ever.

Beat Saber is a virtual reality rhythm game that has managed to establish itself as one of the most iconic and widely recognized VR experiences to date. At its core, the concept is deceptively simple: slice colored blocks to the beat of music using dual virtual sabers, one in each hand. But once you put on the headset and step into its glowing, pulsating world, it becomes immediately clear why this game has maintained its popularity. The movement, music, and visual design all come together to create a highly engaging and physically immersive experience. The gameplay is sharp and responsive. Each incoming block is color-coded and marked with a directional arrow, indicating which saber to use and which direction to swing. It's a clean system that allows the game to stay intuitive for beginners while still providing room for skill expression at higher difficulties. The beat maps are meticulously hand-crafted, which makes each level feel like a unique rhythmic puzzle, not just a series of random swings. As difficulty increases, players must dodge incoming walls, respond to increasingly complex patterns, and move their entire bodies to succeed. Visually, Beat Saber leans heavily into a neon-futuristic aesthetic that suits the music and action perfectly. The environments are minimal but energetic, using lighting and particle effects to enhance the feeling of momentum and impact. Each successful slice is accompanied by satisfying audiovisual feedback, making even small victories feel rewarding. The soundtrack features a mix of electronic, rock, and pop tracks, and the game has expanded its library over time with both original music and officially licensed DLC from well-known artists. Beyond the main gameplay, Beat Saber offers a wide range of customization and content options. There’s a full single-player campaign with challenges and objectives, multiplayer functionality for real-time duels, and a party mode that’s great for casual groups. On PC, the community modding scene is massive. Players can download thousands of custom songs, tweak visual effects, and even overhaul mechanics. This flexibility adds virtually endless replayability. While console and standalone versions don’t support mods, they still receive frequent content updates and DLC packs. The game also happens to be an excellent workout. Swinging your arms, ducking obstacles, and keeping pace with fast-moving tracks can quickly become a cardio-intensive session. It’s one of the few games that effortlessly blends entertainment with physical activity, making it popular not just among gamers but also among those using VR for fitness. Over time, Beat Saber has earned its reputation not just as a game but as a tool for movement and wellness. That said, it’s not without its limitations. Some players on PCVR platforms occasionally report performance inconsistencies or motion tracking issues depending on hardware setup. Updates to the game can sometimes interfere with mods, requiring users to manually roll back versions or wait for community fixes. On PlayStation VR, support has been gradually phased out, with future DLC and multiplayer updates set to stop after early 2026, which may limit the longevity for that platform’s user base. Still, the strengths of Beat Saber far outweigh its drawbacks. It remains one of the best showcases for what VR can do—easy to pick up, difficult to master, and endlessly entertaining. Whether you're chasing high scores, breaking a sweat, or simply enjoying the music, it delivers a compelling and polished experience. Few VR titles have achieved its level of success or cultural presence, and even years after release, it continues to evolve and captivate players around the world. Rating: 9/10

the included songs kinda suck (only a handful of good ones), custom levels (made by community) are kind of a saving grace because I don't have beat saber dlc money (no infinite money glitch in real life yet), except the good custom levels are usually expert only so I gotta get gud before I can play them.

Loved this game, played so much of it across the years, but in it's current state, the game is dead and meta have ruined it fully. No new packs since december and only the "shock drops" this year, with dropping PS too, so buggy on Quest and frame drops constantly... Considering selling my quest how this game is being killed by facebook.

You think you're a god at the game after beating a map on Expert mode… then Expert+ shows up like: "Sit down, champ — that was just the warm-up." 10/10 would accidentally punch my TV again.

I've played this game, and even made plugins and assets for the community since March of 2019, yet the more I try and get back into the game as of late, in addition to the original people who made this game into what it is having left Beat Games makes me more disillusioned with the actual future of the game. I'll talk a bit more about this later. The gameplay loop is the same as it's always been. You slice cubes to the beat of the music (in most cases), and that's it really. The OST maps have gotten better over the years, mostly due to pressure from the customs community to do so, but it took *years* for it to manifest, either out of lack of understanding what the community now considers high quality, or due to stubbornness until the last wave of community mappers got hired, where OST map quality really got better. The personal mastery of this game and skill ceiling goes *far.* This is a simple game that's hard to truly master, and the workout potential in this game for most people is quite frankly insane. There have been many accounts of people losing weight, or even completely shifting their physique due to the cardio workout this game provides. I myself have probably lost many kilos to this. Where I grow disillusioned with the game is the disconnect between Facebook and the community. The leadership at Beat Games is no longer the same, the *developers* aren't the same anymore. While this is normal in any game development studio, it has been truly felt with this leadership and developer shift. They killed off updates to the PlayStation version of the game last week. With no real explanation as to why. As a developer, I can only theorise that developing for PC, Quest, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, thus effectively maintaining four different versions of the game became too hard for them, causing the studio to cut out the PlayStation platform entirely. I wouldn't spend my money on this game again. You'd be better off donating the money you planned on giving to Beat Games to a charity.

This is one of the reasons you bought your headset and you already play it. Pro tip - if you're playing on a Quest, this is the one game where Virtual Desktop doesn't work. There's a tiny bit of lag, and the game is all about precise timing. Works fine with a cable, and it's worth the headache to be able t play user-generated maps of songs you've actually heard of.

It's like Super Mario Bros. Very simple, sets out to do one thing, and does it perfectly. Not my most played, but definitely my favorite rhythm game. If you have VR, this is a must buy.

So I've always wanted to play this game, knowing it's difficulty in playing. After finally getting it & playing it on my 1st try, it was totally fun & truly a work out for your body (If you were to move along with the beat.) I'm not going to fully complete the game with me getting all the achievements, because playing the "Beat Saber" game itself is more fun & enjoyable, it even brings back old memories, of me playing the "Guitar Hero" games. So I look forward on playing this & the more future songs to come.

Recommended with mods, otherwise the good songs are behind DLCs, the rest are pretty generic. With mods however, it's a total game changer.

It's an alright game. If you enjoy rhythm games- and hitting notes like I do, you'll like this game. Good workout, good if you want to work on your reaction speed. However, it is literally a money dump. This game is NEVER on sale so I gave up and just paid £25 to play it to see if it's as good as people say it is. Honestly I don't recommend the game- for £25 you can buy a bunch of older games. Update to my review: You can add your own music, HOWEVER this is a third party website and absolutely nothing to do with the base game. Every custom song you can find on there was made by the community- which is fair in a sense, the people who made the game won't be able to cover all the songs. HOWEVER, the songs you HAVE to pay for here that are absolutely OVER PRICED- you can totally find for free. This game is probably only alive due to the community and the ability to add your own songs, which makes people's creativity spark. My negative review is mainly aimed towards the greediness of the company, stopping people from playing good songs (third party sites aside) is just beyond the word 'greedy'.

Insanely fun game, the first VR game I played in my life, which was a few days ago. Motion sickness was real, but got used to it quickly. Really fun levels, amazing atmosphere (especially with modded songs), lots of settings to choose from if you feel like adding some modifiers, but.. A loud but - The "basic" selection of songs is repulsive. Seriously, whoever listens to that kinda music is probably someone who thinks playing Osu is a character trait and can attract women. Just really really repulsive cheesy dubstep-ish 2011 weeb EDM. All of it. The DLC songs are a bit better, there's some other genres, but.. you have to buy them. Or accept the fact that you have to listen to ear-destroying horrid nyan nyan kawaii 300bpm youtube montage dubstep. Make sure to download custom songs and mod them into the game, because trust me - You will need it. They're free, and better in each and every way, and will make the experience way better. I also have to add that modded songs actually make use of the colors and possibilities in this game. The base songs are plain, just some colors, boring background every time, modded songs though - They're CRAZY. You have to try them out, it's game-changing. Altogether Beat Saber is 100% worth it, if you get modded songs. If you don't know what a shower is, you may enjoy the base songs they use in the game.

Beat Saber isn't just a game; it's a full-body workout disguised as a rhythm game. The core gameplay is deceptively simple: slice incoming blocks to the beat of the music. But the difficulty ramps up incredibly fast, introducing complex patterns, tricky angles, and faster tempos that will challenge even the most seasoned rhythm game veterans. What sets Beat Saber apart is its unparalleled sense of rhythm and movement. The music is expertly curated, ranging from upbeat pop and electronic dance music to rock anthems and even some more experimental tracks. Each song is mapped with precision, creating a truly immersive and satisfying experience. You're not just pressing buttons; you're actively participating in a musical performance. Beyond the core gameplay, Beat Saber boasts a thriving modding community. This means an endless supply of custom songs, levels, and even sabers to choose from. Whether you're a fan of specific artists or genres, you're bound to find something to your liking within the vast library of community-created content. The game is also incredibly customizable. You can adjust the difficulty to match your skill level, change the color scheme, and even tweak the game's mechanics to your preference. This level of personalization ensures that Beat Saber remains engaging and challenging for players of all skill levels. Beyond the fun, Beat Saber offers a surprising amount of physical activity. You'll find yourself naturally moving your entire body to match the rhythm of the music, providing a fantastic cardio workout. It's a great way to get some exercise without feeling like you're working out. This unique blend of physical and mental engagement is a huge part of its appeal. In short, Beat Saber is a game that's both incredibly fun and surprisingly rewarding. It's a perfect blend of rhythm, action, and exercise, offering endless replayability thanks to its extensive song library and active modding community. If you're looking for a unique and engaging game that will get your heart pumping, Beat Saber is a must-try.

This game is very well optimised so you should be fine with playing at a stable 120fps. The game is very modifiable and its easy to do so, from modded songs to UI changes to Performance tweaks. I would play this game much more if my skills in games like these were better but I seriously recommend this to anyone that has got a VR and want to get into rhythm games such as Beat Saber. Hope this helps Have fun with the game if you decide to purchase it :D

It will make your heart race whether you want it or not. Unfortunately proper Beat Saber experience ends up on the intersection of 3 groups of people - VR enthusiasts, rhythm game lovers and modders - all 3 a hefty difficulty modifier on their own. Thank god nobody invited Souls lovers. 7 years down the line you have to actively look for songs that have difficulties below Expert, but when you find just the right one, it's an experience worth buying a VR headset.

Video games + cardio what more could you ask for? It's the perfect blend of VR gaming and cardio mixed into one great bundle! The game also has a range of difficulties making it fun to play for anyone from a beginner to a pro! Plenty of song packs out now and mapped REALLY well - plus with PC mod support you will essentially never run out of maps or songs to play. This is my go to cardio since I work from home and it's hot outside in the summer, this gets the heart pumping and blood flowing! What are you waiting for? Get out there and start slaying some Virtual cubes!
