hard and unforgiving, but a masterpiece

So after playing for a while in solo and then convincing some friends to do a run, and then also trying public for a while, while also spending a couple hundred hours in single player DS, I feel like I don't get the design of pacing for DST. Assuming that official klei-hosted servers are the intended experience, it is a game that resets your entire server if everyone dies, and yet to actually dominate and beat the final bosses you need at least about 20 hours or more depending on how well your team knows what to do. The thing is, this game has very slow power progression, even if you rush thulecite clubs or mass produce glass cutters, it still requires a lot of farming for armor to survive the hard hitting meatshield bosses of late-game to get to actually damaging brightshade and void gear. My point is, for it to be more feasible to actually complete this game in public lobbies they need to give us more viable early game weapons, and especially armor, because current meta of filling your inventory with 5 football helmets is ridiculous, and kiting in public is almost impossible. Actually one thing that addresses some of this is skill tree, but then please give every character something to improve their combat, Wilson is currently very underwhelming. Okay it was a long rant, kinda creates an illusion of me not liking the game. It has such a breadth of content and so many ways to interact with it and characters are so different in nature and having different roles in a public lobby is so fun that I expect to double my playtime at least, so yeah, an immense experience that I urge people to try.

the game is pretty good the best part about it are the amount of mods in it the games meant to be played with other people but can be played by your self also the give you 2 copies when you buy it the game despite being a survival game have progression if you want to do it all it will take like 700 minutes which is allot but fun. it takes allot of playing to get good at but when you do it gets kinda boring but when it does you can just download a mod and play that for a while the games still getting updated and probbly wont stop for a long while hoped this helped

Don't Starve Together is one of the most unique survival games out there. The Tim Burton-like art style, eerie atmosphere, and wide variety of characters and creatures make every playthrough feel different. Playing with friends adds a lot of fun (and chaos), but the game doesn’t go easy on you. There’s a steep learning curve, and the lack of tutorials can be overwhelming at first. Still, once you get the hang of it, surviving each season feels incredibly rewarding. The devs are still actively updating the game, adding new content and improving balance. If you enjoy challenging survival games and don’t mind a bit of trial and error, this is definitely worth picking up.

Fun, odd, and challenging survivor game full of weird creatures and characters. Join your friends in a Tim Burton-esque world trying to survive amongst the bizarre plant and wildlife. If you get it, for your own sake go in blind, discovering how the world works is a lot of fun.

"Don't Starve Together" is one of those games I always go back to when I want to have a great time with friends. The goal is simple – don’t die. But that’s exactly where the challenge (and all the fun) begins. Surviving isn’t as easy as it sounds, especially when you're dealing with hunger, monsters, seasons, and the occasional teammate accidentally setting everything on fire. All of that makes for chaotic, memorable moments and a lot of laughs. One thing I absolutely love is the music. It’s so well-made and fits the world perfectly – it really helps set the mood and makes the whole experience even more immersive. And... the Catcoons are super adorable <3

Every time you start a world you will have a moment of bliss where you will have pure fun making your base and collecting stuff. Then you will steal an egg from a big bird, or you'll hit the wrong spider's nest, or you'll just survive up to winter. Then you will realize that the developers made it their personal mission to torture you. And I think that's awesome. I love this game. Every update that adds something positive for your survival, also adds a "but" as well. You can now plant crops "but" they can also get infested by locust There's cool stuff in the ocean now "but" otters will steal your stuff etc. This game is designed to be hard but fair. Every death was your mistake, and every vistory was earned. So take a torch and step into the darkness.

🚫 Not Recommended (unless you're a masochist such as myself who thrives on pain, suffering, and emotional devastation) I’m going to say this once, loudly and with the emotional stability of a starving raccoon: I do not recommend this game. Unless, and hear me out; you are the kind of person who puts hot sauce in your eyes for fun, considers taxes a hobby, and thinks "emotional damage" is just spicy seasoning for your soul. “Don’t Starve Together” is not a survival game. No. It is a slow-motion breakup with reality, served on a beautifully hand-drawn plate of despair and bees. So. Many. Bees. 🌲 MY JOURNEY INTO MADNESS: Day 1: "Gather twigs," they said. "Pick some flowers," they said. It’s cute. It’s whimsical. I named a frog. I was doing great. Day 3: My campfire went out while I was crafting a hat made of grass. A shadow demon shanked me in the dark while whispering eldritch riddles. I respawned next to a spider orgy. Day 7: I made a meat effigy. I don’t know why. I think it was to prepare for the inevitable, which came 20 minutes later when my friend, whom I trusted, lit our base on fire trying to cook a carrot. Day 12: A tree came to life and chased me halfway across the map. I asked it to stop politely. It did not. Day 16: Winter arrived. My thermal stone turned cold. My soul turned colder. I fashioned a coat out of beefalo fur and my friend’s broken trust. Day 20: We were attacked by dogs. Why are there dogs?! What do they want?! I died again, but spiritually this time. 💀 THINGS THAT HAVE KILLED ME IN THIS GAME: Darkness Spiders Tree monsters Freezing to death Overheating Starvation (ironic, I know) Bees Frogs My own friends A sentient penguin horde A moose-goose. Yeah. That’s real. 🧠 MY MENTAL STATE: You know that meme with the guy in the burning house saying "this is fine"? That’s me. Except the house is made of twigs, the fire was started by my teammate trying to cook a berry, and the guy is now haunted by hallucinations of Charlie whispering Latin backwards. 👥 MULTIPLAYER? LOL. You think playing with friends will make this easier. Wrong. It just means you’ll have someone to blame when they pick all the flowers and summon a forest god to annihilate your camp because they wanted to "make a pretty wreath." Teamwork makes the dream work... unless that dream is a fever nightmare about starvation and pig people. 📢 FINAL THOUGHT: This game will test your patience, your friendships, and your sanity. It's beautiful. It's cruel. It’s a handcrafted sandbox of torment wrapped in Tim Burton’s art style and sprinkled with goose trauma. If you want a fun, relaxing, cozy survival game, go play Stardew Valley. If you want to feel like a raccoon in a burning dumpster trying to juggle flaming meatballs while hallucinating shadow wolves, then Don’t Starve Together is for you. 10/10 Would die of starvation again.

Don’t Starve Together takes the uncompromising survival experience of Don’t Starve and turns it into a shared adventure. You and your friends are dropped into a dark, whimsical wilderness where every day is a fight against hunger, monsters, and the creeping madness that threatens to consume you. The game masterfully blends resource management, exploration, and crafting with a relentless challenge. You must gather food, build shelter, craft weapons, and fend off terrifying creatures—all while managing your sanity in a beautifully eerie world. Playing solo is tough, but the multiplayer twist elevates the experience: cooperation is vital, but so is planning and adapting. Whether splitting tasks or banding together for a boss fight, teamwork is what keeps you alive. The depth of the crafting system and the unpredictable, procedurally generated world means no two playthroughs feel the same. Seasons, biomes, and random events keep you constantly on your toes. The game’s hand-drawn, Tim Burton-esque art style is striking—dark and quirky, with a unique charm that perfectly fits its unsettling yet whimsical tone. The soundtrack is haunting and minimal, enhancing the tension and isolation you feel in the wilderness. Pros: -Deep, rewarding survival mechanics -Rich crafting and exploration systems -Unique, memorable art and atmosphere -Multiplayer adds layers of fun and strategy Cons: -Steep learning curve for newcomers -Can be punishing and sometimes frustrating -Occasional connectivity issues in multiplayer Don’t Starve Together is a brutally beautiful survival game that demands creativity, cooperation, and perseverance. It’s perfect for players who crave challenge wrapped in a darkly whimsical world. With friends by your side, every narrow escape feels like a triumph. Survival has never been so eerie, engaging, or downright fun—especially with friends. Rating: 9/10

Had a great time playing it with a friend who I gifted this game to. the gameplay is heavily altered from the original to be more suitable for multiplayer, so the game may be easier in some aspects, but much harder in others. Wish I had more friends who are willing to play this game more often so I can play it the intended way :P

It's a little hard to embark on the game simply because its increasing complexity followed by high degrees of freedom. However, it just take time to adapt to its pace, for instance, you should prepare water-proof items before Spring. Yeah, pace, I think, is the key to understand the game for every single green hand.

This is the LAN party game. It is a fun game, though it can be frustrating at times. I like how it's one of those games that is somewhat accessible to a new player, even someone who isn't really good at games. Make your world really easy and simple, play around in it, get your feet wet, then put it back on normal settings and get killed over and over again. And then when you get a feel for that, check out the content of this game, which is fairly extensive, or go and play as one of the other dozens of options for a player which brings in unique challenges and abilities. Just make sure you get some friends, because while you can certainly play this game solo... it's truly meant to be enjoyed among friends. While by no means is it a requirement, some quality of life mods can make for a good experience too.

This game is awesome. Me and my friends all bought it at the same time and it’s been a blast. The process of learning how to survive and discovering new things, all while watching that day counter get bigger and bigger on each attempted world… feels so good. 9/10

I’ve put a decent amount of hours into Don’t Starve Together now, and honestly, it’s one of the most rewarding games I’ve played with friends. It's tough, yeah, but that's kinda the whole point. The game doesn't hold your hand — you learn by messing up. A lot. And somehow, that makes it way more satisfying when you finally survive through winter or take down your first boss.you always have to think about what you will eat and be prepared for a fight. overall you should buy this if you like surviving and kinda creapy style))))

I've been playing this game since I was 15 years old, nearly half my life including all the iterations of the dont starve series. Just one of my favorite games of all time. I played a bunch of the amazing special events they had like into the forge and into the gorge. Just have had a blast revisiting it time and time again. They constantly update the game and continue working on it. I remember when each character came out and I got to try them. I've pretty much convinced every friend I've had to try the game and play it lol. Really love the art style and all the music. I've always appreciated the world gen/sandbox options since you can make a fresh experience by changing the spawn rates in an already procedurally generated world. I have also always appreciated the ability to change your environment such as permanently chopping down trees and the aspect of certain non-renewable resources. I love the design of the bosses and how special it is to discover how to encounter the bosses. Every action has a consequence has always been a feature. Truly just one of the most badass games of all time. Love yall <3

This is my favorite game for lots of reasons. It is a really hard but fun survival game. It does not hold your hand and there is a lot of trial and error. It has great cosmetics and daily login bonus system to help get cosmetics. The drops even consist of monetized cosmetics and ways to trade in your duplicates. Something else really big for me, i use to play on PS, but switched to PC. Klei made it so you could merge your accounts and have all of your stuff from the other console. The characters also have a lot of unique charm to them, and the art style is this gritty hand drawn style that oozes creativity.

Very Very Very Very fun to play espacially with friends. Its a nice survival game and has an interesting mechanic in which you get damaged when in the shadow/darkness for too long, and also has a sanity bar( another fun mechanic). I would rate this game a 9.5/10. Good job Klei for making lots of fun games!

The game is a unique take on 2D art-style! All the characters are super fun and dragging your unknowing buddies into this hostile world is genuinely the funniest thing I could've ever done. I recommend and encourage to play this with your friends or even solo. There is just so much in the game to mess around and do, it's a blast!

I like this game, its kinda challenging and fun. Its not a game you play and complete in one go, its rather continuous. I do recommend it, adventurous - lots of exploring and lots of collecting ... also not too hard to beat the beasties. And daily check-ins will present you with skins!! I like it!! Play it and find out!! I think its worth the money and worth the try!!

Fun survival game to play with your friends. My only problem is that the movement speed is a bit slow which makes feel like it takes forever to get anywhere. This can be rectified later in the game but this makes the early game feel kinda sluggish compared to other survival games. Still not bad though.

Great game for friends and couples alike. Haven't played it in a while because we've got other games on the plate now but they're still giving constant free massive updates to this game almost a decade later which is pretty incredible. There's so much to do in this game already and every year they just give you even more stuff to do. Gotta love a game that's loved by the devs. 10/10 game + 10/10 devs S tier

i honestly really love this game. i get to play as a spider-like character, which very few games let you do, and i get to try to survive! i love the customizability too, you can edit how your character looks and some skins are just beautiful. this game is also very modifiable, and there's a mod for most things you could want, so that's really nice. overall i'd say a solid 9.5/10 due to how difficult it is, but hey, if you like a fun challenge, come on and try it!
