i unlocked the crowbar from half life and the nail from hollow knight and started beating people mercilessly with them. 10/10 game.

Really tight and responsive roguelite. Mile wide and 3 miles deep. The movement in fights is really fast, but then the game also pushes you to accelerate BETWEEN fights. When I play I feel this crazy bloodlust because I'm trying to keep my movement speed bonus by continually renewing my kill streak, so I jump into the next pack without waiting. Very intense, definitely blew through a set of cherry switches on my keyboard just off this game.

saw the reviews being overwhelmingly positive, i got a steam deck and then this because it was on sale, i am now fully aware of why the reviews are high, the description of the game is 100% correct but it does not do it enough justice.

Tons of weapons, cool enemies, and satisfying combat. Hard but fair. Great for "just one more run" sessions.

the DLC policy is too aggressive. i just wanted to play the base game but the game literally baits you into buying a DLC pack. never ever i played a game with such a greedy DLC policy

Dead Cells by Motion Twin is a brilliant fusion of roguelike and Metroidvania genres that delivers relentless, fast-paced action wrapped in a beautifully crafted pixel-art world. From the moment you dive in, the game hooks you with its fluid combat, tight controls, and a gratifying progression system that rewards skill and experimentation. It’s a challenging yet fair experience that strikes a perfect balance between difficulty and accessibility, making every run feel fresh and exciting. One of Dead Cells’ greatest strengths lies in its level design and procedural generation. Each run takes you through a series of interconnected biomes that are familiar yet rearranged in unpredictable ways, keeping exploration intriguing without ever feeling repetitive. The game’s pace is brisk—enemies are aggressive and varied, and the constantly evolving arsenal of weapons, abilities, and power-ups lets you tailor your playstyle on the fly. Whether you prefer fast, aggressive swordplay or tactical ranged combat, Dead Cells offers tools to suit every approach. Combat in Dead Cells is visceral and deeply satisfying. Every hit, dodge, and parry feels deliberate, with tight controls that reward precision and timing. Death is frequent, but it never feels cheap—each failure is a learning opportunity that nudges you to refine your strategy or try new equipment combinations. The fluidity of movement, combined with the creative weapon variety (from brutal hammers to tricky traps), keeps the gameplay engaging throughout. Visually, Dead Cells is a standout in the pixel-art scene. The vibrant, hand-animated sprites and detailed environments create a dark yet captivating atmosphere. The sound design and soundtrack complement this perfectly, with intense beats during combat and eerie melodies in exploration phases, enhancing the immersive experience. Ultimately, Dead Cells is a masterclass in design that delivers tight gameplay loops, meaningful progression, and an ever-present sense of discovery. It’s a tough but rewarding journey that encourages persistence and creativity, making it one of the best modern roguelikes for players who love action, challenge, and replayability. If you’re up for a game that constantly pushes you to adapt and improve, Dead Cells is an absolute must-play. Rating: 10/10

i loved playing this game in my highschool classes, it was basically the only thing keeping me sane and here i am returning to the game nearly 7 years later and being reminded of the joy (and pain) this game brings. if there is one game that could be described as 'labour of love', it is definitely dead cells.

So far I absolutely love this game. the way there are hidden bits of lore, references to other games, and most of all the combat and movement. everything flows together so nicely and on top of that the game can run on a potato. I’ve managed to play it on my steam deck while lowering the TDP and GPU clock near the minimum with no performance loss

Currently, this is my No.1 all time favorite game. The music is AMAZING, the smoothness of the game while still being pixelated is AWESOME. This is a must play for anyone who is into action-packed, fast paced games.

Insanely fun, snappy and perfectly paced rogue-like where you play as a demonic snot that can possess a suit of armor and murder spree your way through a tower full of disease-ridden humble workers and their pets. It's all very ethical. Also, very f'ing hard in the beginning. Must power through a bit of frustration until you start to understand the combos and unlocking stuff, and before long you'll be... raging at how unfair the queen fight is, MAN I HATE THAT THING SO MUCH

This is, simply put, one of my top games of all time. Like, literally... And I started with Pong. There's absolutely no reason that everybody on the planet shouldn't own a copy of this masterpiece of a game. Unlimited replayability. Style and charm galore. So many ways to play. It's the perfect Metrovania title. It outclasses everything including its inspirations. I played this title for years on Xbox, and I've repurchased it on PC so I can play on the Steamdeck. Yes, I had to start over. Yes, I'm happy about it. Buy. It. And all the content that goes with it. You're welcome.

Clear winner of the "Best Game You Suck At" -Award. Its fun and its difficult. Lots of references to other games as well in the form of rooms and weapons. Beating the final boss does not mean end of the game, nor does it mean that you can beat the boss second time easily.

Overall, it's not bad, but I feel like I love Hollow Knight a little more. A lot of the time, I just want to speed through to collect more cells and upgrade skills, because once you die, you lose all progress except for your skills and collections. So often, I speed-run through the first and second levels to quickly get 40 cells for upgrades, then try to continue from there. But unbelievably, after playing this game for about an hour, my computer crashed just as I was preparing to download the DLC in-game. It was unbelievable, this is the first time my custom-built PC has ever crashed in nearly three years of use. I was truly shocked; none of the keys responded, and about 30 seconds later, the screen went black. I had to force a reboot. It seems like this game might have a fairly serious bug. Overall it is a nice game.

I don't even know where to start. This game is just.... amazing. When I was a child I'd always watch my brother play and back then I already couldn't wait to play it myself. And as soon as I got a pc this game was one of the first ones I've ever played on it. I absolutely love it and still play it to this day.

Addictive, with tons of variety in styles of gameplay and rogue-lite enjoyment. Went very quickly from a few hours to 30+ and now I crave the daily challenges and trying again and again to improve my main runs. Excellent feel on the controls as well, very very sharp.

I really enjoyed and loved playing Dead Cells where I played as a headless undead prisoner with a flaming homunculus cyclops. I love how the the discrete dungeon layouts and its environments that makes the gameplay fun. I do love the unique character design ranging from the player, NPCs and the enemies. I do like the roguelike mechanics where if you get a blueprint and use the cells to unlock it, it's really fun and when you die. You lose all the cells and carrying blueprints and have to start all over. It's fun and highly reccomended if you like soulslike and rougelike I would say. 12/10

Such a good game. While there is the fear of dying and starting all over, the growth you achieve in this game is insane. The achievements intimidated me at first, but I got half of them on my first time playing. Would definitely recommend to players looking for a challenge. 10/10 game

When i originally tried this game, I thought it wasn't for me. I have been giving games like that a second try, and I'm glad I am. I usually am not a big rogue-lite fan, but this is changing my mind. It's very addictive. A "one more run" kind of game. There is a ton of content to unlock, and you feel yourself getting better and better at it as you go. Great game!

only have 20 hours on pc, i have like 500 on ps, 200 on switch, 20 on mobile. this game is good, really good. its going to piss you off but you're gonna be back for more. The dlc's fit well and i recommend them if you're able to spend the money. You don't need them of course. Art style is cute, combat is fast, responsive and fun. There are countless play styles and hundreds of weapons. i bought this game 4 times and the dlc packs twice so yeah.

This is a game I picked up on a whim one time, and now I think it might be my second favorite game of all time. I've played it on switch, PS5, and here, and every time I discover something new about it. This game is super hard, in the best possible way. I used to avoid hard games, but this game taught me to stick with it because once you get going you feel JUST unstoppable enough that when you die, you feel like you were SO close. And so, you go again. And again. And again.

Probably one of the best rogue likes out there and i can see why its popular, even you never played one before, my honest opinion is you can surely buy this game and have a blast, from the very start, it is very addictive, loads of content on top. There are pros and cons , but i think overall the game does a pretty good job as for cons, one of the most annoying things are sometimes u will find doors for dlc u can not even enter , but it will still show up in the maps. and at the start of the game it might be little confusing for some as it has a lot of content , but one should be fine after few playthroughs . lastly sometimes u can die very quickly before u realise , especially with some specific enemies if you dont know how to deal with them. as for pros, its simply hell lot of fun, you will get lost in time , worth buying in my opinion, i never regreted single time, only regret i probably had is not able to get those annoying dlc :]

Absolutely gorgeous game. Art is on point, as are the mechanics and the game design. A lot of different options for any given run that don't feel grindy.
