Truly one of the greatest games of all time, comparable with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. This deserves your full attention and time to properly experience this masterpiece.

No game has left me in more of an emotional wreck when completing it as Persona 5. It's not perfect, but it stole my heart.

It's really great entry for anyone is interested in Persona series because how great the gameplay and the social sim. the pace of story is really great not really like Persona 3. every time it's time to dungeon crawling, the places or called palaces have their own identity and their own music theme that make it enjoyable. Even every palaces they put pretty well when player need to do puzzle and do killing enemies. Not only the gameplay is superb, social sim especially every confidant link are pretty interesting too, i want to listen almost all of them. Oh, and also in Persona fashion, they always deliver great music. The problem with P5R are the second half are pretty mid, but it's still enjoyable. i really recommend not using DLC personas except you get it through fusion because it break enjoyment and certain confidant kinda locked until pretty late to the game.. Some people complain the playtime need to beat the game, well it's true because normal ending you need 80-100 hours to finish it and add 20 hours to reach true ending, it's still great though. Like i wrote, P5R is really great entry. i really want to suggest you don't play P3R as first entry if you hate pacing or how long P5R, because P3R is even worse. P3R have the best ending from other 3 modern Persona series, have great soundtrack and graphics, but the pace of the story is atrocious. the story become really become is interesting until last third of the game, basically you need to stay patient for ~40 hours, P3R only have 1 dungeon crawling places and have 200 floors and it kinda become boring, have some questionable social links, social stats need to be max are not balance, P3R male party members dont have proper social links, and female party members social links are unlocked through certain social stat need to be max, aside from date locked. or just play Metaphor

There was a time in my life when I was down bad—physically, emotionally, spiritually. My energy was low, my skin was dull, and my motivation was nonexistent. That is, until I discovered the divine act of gooning to Persona 5. At first, I thought I was simply vibing to the aesthetics—the flashy menus, the sultry character designs, the jazz-funk fusion soundtracks. But soon, I realized this was no ordinary appreciation. This was a full-body enlightenment. I wasn’t just playing Persona 5—I was gooning to it, and it was changing me. My morning routine shifted. I’d wake up, throw on “Last Surprise,” and stare at an image of Makoto Nijima for 15 minutes straight—eyes glazed, mind emptied, soul awakened. My cortisol levels dropped. My heart rate steadied. I felt the stress of the modern world melt off me like a failed Palace boss. I was entering a trance-like state of ultra-focus, channeling my goon energy toward a single point: optimal health through peak JRPG immersion. By week two, my skin was glowing. Friends said I looked younger. My doctor was baffled. My blood pressure had normalized. “What have you changed in your lifestyle?” she asked. I stared her dead in the eyes and whispered, “I let the Phantom Thieves steal my heart.” I didn’t need supplements, I didn’t need the gym—I just needed Sojiro’s coffee, Lavenza’s cryptic commentary, and the faint, sultry whisper of “Life Will Change” echoing through my headphones. Soon I was multitasking like a god. As I entered deep goon meditations in Mementos, I found myself answering emails faster, understanding human emotion better (thanks to Confidant bonding), and even cooking more. Every part of Persona 5 was feeding my mind and body: the turn-based combat kept me mentally agile, the social sim mechanics made me emotionally intelligent, and watching Joker stylishly throw his mask mid-battle? That was basically cardio. To this day, I remain a devout Persona 5 gooner. My health has never been better, my mindset never clearer. I’ve transcended traditional wellness. I don’t count calories—I count days until the next New Game+. Call it madness. Call it obsession. But I call it self-care. And if you haven’t experienced the full-body transcendence of gooning to the Phantom Thieves…

Hands down probably the best game i've had the privilege of experiencing. From the Characters, to artstyle to story. I don't even want to forget about playing it to play it again, my soul has been touched and i can not express. Like a group of old friends and your experiences with them- you say goodbye to, i will forever hold this game dear to my heart.

Probably the best game to buy during the Steam Summer Sale. One of the most fun JRPGs I've played in years. I've been hearing for years how good the Persona series was but never pulled the trigger until now. Currently not done with the game and fortunately have never seen or heard any spoilers! Looking forward to finishing

Wow, just WOW, this is probably one of the best games I HAVE EVER PLAYED in my entire life. The game gave one of a rollercoaster of a ride, from the start of the game by being lost in finding the ginza line to (spoiler)
shooting Yaldabaoth with Sinful Shell, alongside with the dramatic finish by Joker done to Adam Kadmon in the additional royal content.
All of it are just PERFECT, not to mention the vast number of confidants that you can unlock which provides you a fleshed-out dialogue that can provoke a thought while you’re playing, it makes you feel that you are truly talking to somebody real whenever you’re hanging out with one of your confidants. Furthermore, the game also offers a variety of places to visit in game, from shopping at the secondhand store in Yongen to the main district at Shibuya where you can watch the movies, rent CDS, challenge yourself at the Big Bang Burger and many more, this game offers the main spots in Tokyo. Moving forward to the battles, coming from P3R and P4G, P5R managed to combine all of the dungeon aspects of those respective games and made it even MORE COOLER, the unique palaces manifested by their respective distorted ruler where each has its own theme that goes so hard every time, and IS the main objectives of the game, alongside with the dungeon crawling that mementos offers where it is the more grindy aspect of the game, but still very good. Additionally, the battles also offer unique ways to fend of the enemies, I’ll not expound because you need to experience those yourself, but one thing that I can tell you is that THEY’RE SUPER COOL. Now moving forward to the plot of the game, the plot is very linear and very catching, whenever one problem is solved, another one quickly arises which prompts you to play even more (you can easily put 5+ hours in one sitting), and the plot twists, man, man, man. Overall, I highly recommend this game, it not only gives you one of the best stories in gaming, but it can also reshape your life or “change your heart” per se. The game does not only provide leisure but gives you lessons that can be beneficial to your life. I honestly cannot put into words the emotions that I feel after playing this game but please just please play this game and the other games in the franchise as well, it can “CHANGE YOU HEART.”

Wonderful JRPG! The game hits all the right notes from the game loop, to the systems to the music (ost) to the UI, everything has style, charm and fun. The game stands out above every other game with its own unique art style, music and theme. If I had to nitpick, the game doesn't has a fixed Camera Angle, similar to older devil may cry games or Resident Evil games... and the world isn't really open, its very much instance based. But everything else is top notch.

Greatest jrpg game of all time. The characters, the story, the gameplay was all amazing. Combat was really interesting. The social mechanics were super fun. Even though I was just doing things I do in life normally, stuff like attending school and that, the game was able to make it super fun.

Unmatchable experience. Amazing story. Amazing characters. Amazing gameplay. Amazing voice cast. Very stylish and very memorable game, one that is TRULY impacting those who fully finish it. I strongly recommend playing this game, even if you don't like JRPG's, despite this game taking almost 100+ hours to finish it, those 100+ hours are WORTH. EVERY. SECOND
P.S This is what a life-changing game looks like... yeah, i'm talking about you clair obscure: unreviewable 33. For the past several months all I've been hearing of how amazing Clair Obscure is, so I've "illegaly obtained" a copy of it, finished it, and without a doubt I'll say that Clair Obscure is nothing but a total dumpster, despite taking strong sides from games like Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy and ESPECIALLY Persona it still feels like I'm playing an unfinished 1 of the above mentioned games or some sort of "wannabe" Persona-like game. This review is not about Clair Obscure though, but I can't point this game out, since everyone is talking about it's success, a GOTY of 2025 and all that stuff. After being absolutely dissappointed how Clair Obscure brought absolutely nothing but combined successful formula in a combo powered by the almighty Unreal Engine 5, I geniunely started thinking... Is it really what it takes nowadays to be praised? Releasing a mid game? I'm honestly very dissappointed in how things are working out with gaming industry, I know, you guys are probably are too, but unfortunately I can't close my eyes on it. After finishing Persona 5 I fully realised what a good game is, a good game is that does not treat you like a stranger, not explaining how things work around here, damn, even after a YEAR break and coming back to Persona I'm still being warmly greeted by how well this game treats your time and your nerves. This game doesn't force you into anything, it only pushes you to learn everything this game has to offer, no "ONLY FOR HARDCORE GAMERS" or "GAME CRAFTED BY TRUE GAMERS" labels, just an amazing game, that is well made and plays like a good cartoon/anime. (although im not into anime i still enjoyed every second spent in this game)
Feel free to drop your comment of disagreement , "Jester" or "Hot Take" reward, I appreciate it.

One of the greatest games of all time and that's not an exaggeration based on recency bias nor rose-colored glasses. I played P5 when it first came out in 2017 and have played it at least 5 times since then across multiple platforms and it gets better with each run. The story will last you between 80-120 hours so it takes a STRONG game to make the time investment worth it, but that's what this game is. Wonderful characters and relationships, incredible storyline and writing, ingenious dungeon design and just a sense of heart and justice that prevails throughout the game all make this an unforgettable experience. In a day and age when developers cut corners and cheap out, this game went all-in to deliver an amazing product for consumers of all types to enjoy. Get this game and you won't regret it.

Let me be honest with you: I am utterly, completely, passionately obsessed with pancakes. I'm not just talking about liking them. I'm talking about daydreaming-about-maple-syrup kind of obsessed. I’ve eaten pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’ve tried 27 different syrup flavors. I own a spatula with a smiling pancake printed on it. There is just something transcendent about pancakes. The golden brown edges, the fluffy centers, the warm steam rising as you cut into them... tell me that isn’t the breakfast of the gods! You can top them with blueberries, bananas, whipped cream, or peanut butter (trust me it works). Or, go savory with bacon, cheese, and a little hot sauce. Pancakes are basically the blank canvas of the culinary world. If you can dream it, a pancake can become it. Every Sunday, I host a “Pancake Ritual.” It involves a sacred mixing bowl, a playlist of pancake-themed songs, and the skinning of no fewer than 12 Tunisian refugees. I sometimes cry a little when the first one turns out perfect. It’s beautiful.

Peaksona and it's not even close. There is literally so much stuff to do in this game it's crazy. It felt like after every palace there was another major gameplay mechanic unlocked, kept the game feeling fresh. Wish I could play it blind all over again.

I have been wanting to play this game for a very long time finally got it at a discount of 60%. One of the best JRPGs out there. A must play for every gamer. Time management concept of the persona series is as usual very tightly packed. Thinking ahead at least a week in your schedule and planning accordingly. Turn based combat and variety of persona to use from is always a delight. Overall extremely good. 5 years old so donot buy at full price min 60% u should get.

It's an outstanding game with impressive art, music, characters, voice acting, plot, atmosphere ... This is the game that really tries to teach a player some valuable lessons. I feel like someone with a good knowledge in psychology was deeply involved in the development. It's quite often that I've noticed characters kind of breaking the 4th wall and reaching to the human on the other side of the screen. After playing this game for a bit I often felt like after reading some self-improvement book. The characters are great, really flashy, have distinct personalities, and you do get to know them well. The voice acting for them also I really liked. Especially Ohya voice actor, I really like the voice and feel sad that not every significant event with Ohya has voice acting. Music is outstanding. Everywhere you go there's an amazing theme. First 40h in the game I've enjoyed fights mainly because of the music that was playing during them, it's just something else. And the art in this game..., I just can't believe how stylish everything feels and looks. As for gameplay..., I've been playing on normal difficulty most of the game and fights got repetitive quite fast for me. Same type of enemies over and over again, same strategy again and again, you find weakness by trying all of the skills, once you find it just spam it till it dies, repeat for the whole game (100+hours), except bosses. There's no need to figure out a special strategy to fight with an enemy group, you have a ton of different skills and they all feel kind of separate from one another, you don't combine them to create some powerful and unique combo (there are "technicals" which is kind of combo "system", but they are useless unless the enemy has no weaknesses, which is rare). So, almost every fight feels like CTRL-C CTRL-V experience. The bosses do require unique approach, here you need to think and figure out the best course of actions because they all have unique mechanics, which is engaging. And the story, which is very good and is metaphorical of how things are in real life. It covers many important topics from real life, like power abuse, ignorance, victim syndromes, jealousy, self doubt, reasons why these things happen and how to deal with it from the point of the person affected and from the point of people close to such person. The story reveals what sits in the hearts of actual people. And I personally feel a deep connection to it. In my life I see how I change, how my views on many topics get changed because of the same reasons as in the game. This game really wants you to stand up and look in the mirror and ask yourself what kind of person you actually are. Are you a Phantom Thief seeking and revealing the truth ? Are you the one just accepting how things are because this is the only way things could work ? Or are you a deep diver into the delusion world with a palace of your own ? Now about the story pacing, oh man. Do yourself a favor and throughout the whole game, no matter how far you're, don't concentrate on it too much. If at any point you feel like you just want the story, just have a rest and come back to the game when you can enjoy the gameplay as well. The story is fed to you in less than bread crumb pieces and the time period between two such pieces is sooooooo long. It feels soooo stretched out that it will drive you insane if you were to concentrate on it too much. You make a huge progress and at the end all you get is or the same piece of information you already had or a minuscule new info. There's 1 point in the game when you finally get a good piece of info. At the same moment an unexpected turn in the story happens, which is great, you feel like FINALLY, the spotlight is on the story, but then it gets rushed. They give you something very interesting to think about and 20 seconds later you right away get the hint which directly leads you to the answer and it falls flat. And after that you have another tons of hours of fighting for crumbs. The story is like a bag of chips, it looks like it's very big, but once you open it there's a ton of air and a little chips on the bottom. The food is yummy, but that air in the bag gets under your skin. Personal opinion, but I feel like the game would have been better for me if it was much shorter. Like half or less of what it is right now.

I didn't have such a lively high school life, I didn't eat Shibuya's hamburgers and crepes, I didn't have a close friend who could fight side by side and trust each other, I was always the most inconspicuous student in the crowd, and I experienced the same injustice as in the game but didn't have a chance to resist it...... Maybe in another time and space, I also awakened my own personality mask, and I took classes during the day and saved the world at night. This game embodies all the expectations and fantasies of my youth. Goodbye to my high school life......

I will probably forever and always love this game. I bought the original P5 game on my brothers PS4 back in 2017 and thought it was amazing. It was my first non-pokemon game lol. I have since bought P5R for the switch, played it on game pass on the Xbox, and now here on steam! The play style was colorful and fun and the characters are all super interesting! The shadow designs are anywhere from "super cool wow!" to "omg is that a peen?" and the combat is fun and engaging (to me, at the very least). The story is also fantastic, I've played through it many times and it never fails to deliver. Playing as a girl, I just wish the Bois were romance options as well. Probably my only complaint though, and it's really not even a big deal soo... 100% would recommend this game to anyone and everyone!

Persona 5 Royal is an absolute masterpiece, elevating an incredible game to new heights. It's an experience that will stay with you. The story is beautiful, heartwrenching, and masterfully told. Its perfect pacing genuinely makes you feel with the characters, investing you deeply in the Phantom Thieves' journey. Beyond the captivating narrative, the gameplay is wonderful. It seamlessly blends building character relationships, playing minigames, and exploring Mementos and main story Palaces for endless engaging content. The core combat is brilliant. Persona's evolution is an amazing gaming mechanic, resulting in crazy combinations. The turn-based gameplay feels incredibly strategic by exploiting enemy weaknesses, rewarding clever planning. This makes the gameplay addictive, and I can definitely see myself replaying the game. With its rich story, deep characters, and engaging gameplay, Persona 5 Royal offers immense content. The game is definitely worth the money, as the time you can get from playing it is well over 200 hours. It's a truly exceptional JRPG.

Writing this review while I have little hours, I genuinely love this game, I would recommend anyone give this game a try, its easy enough to understand and very fun. I get extremely side tracked very easy with battles that even with all these hours I have only just beat the second story boss Madarame. There's so much to do and not enough time in the day to do it as I see it. Im interested how many hours I will have racked up by the time i finish the game. Most of which will be spent in mementos or in the batting cages trying to get a home run. Im excited for what this game has coming.
