I truly don't even know where to begin with this game. This game is the single greatest experience I've had in the gaming world. The story of this game is masterfully crafted. Atlus really, really, really hit the nail on the head. Within the last year, I have played a lot of story games, this game absolutely takes the cake. I have never been through the emotional ringer harder with ANY form of media. Atlus proved with this title once again that they know how to world build better than almost any developer or publisher out there. This game makes you truly care for, invest in, and resonate with the characters that you will spend an immense amount of time with. This game is really long, I myself was able to get about 140 hours of it in just one play through. Whether or not you like RPG style games doesn't really matter. I myself don't love them, and that didn't stop me from becoming completely invested in this game. Now that I have finished the game, there is an emptiness because I simply don't know what to play that could give me the same high I felt when playing this game. When I said that this game threw me through the emotional ringer, I meant it. I felt angry with the protagonists about the antagonists, I felt happiness over accomplishments made by the characters, and I felt like every couple hours of playing this game I got chills. If you are turned away from the game because of the anime style, you simply HAVE to look past that. As if it wasn't obvious enough by this very lengthy review, I give this game 10/10, and I would recommend that anyone and everyone plays this game. It is a heart throb, and it will keep you invested the ENTIRE time. Money well spent.

Truly one of the greatest games of all time, comparable with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. This deserves your full attention and time to properly experience this masterpiece.

Absolute peak. Although Metaphor: ReFantazio boasts superior combat in my opinion, Persona 5 excels in social life interaction and level design. While the initial range of activities and explorable areas is limited, the game progressively opens up with each story advancement. The dungeon is handcrafted, each with unique design reflecting the current story arc, something that I like more than the previous Persona games and Metaphor. The overall artstyle and UI design is just really awesome to see. The story itself is just phenomenal—a true emotional roller coaster. My only complains in this game would be the story pacing, sometimes waiting for the story to progress after finishing a dungeon can feel a bit drawn out. If You care about 100%-ing the steam achievement, this game is really easy to complete. You can do every achievement in you first playthrough. Although the game is really long (For me it is around 105-ish hour) the game is undoubtedly worth your time. Also the OST is just absolute perfection. As for me, the game is undoubtedly one of my favorites of recent times.

One of my all time favourite games of all time!! I 1000% recommend this game if you are into the Japanese story JRPG game!! I could talk on hours and hours on why this game is in my all time top favourite. the hours i put into this game when i was on PlayStation was unbelievable 5000+ hours on the thing. full compendium and 100% completion of the game and played through it more times then probably most of the games i have previously owned. Do i recommend this game to everyone? HELL yes i do! its jam packed with story and its over 100 hours long for the story not talking about the 100% completion of the game!!!

Greatest jrpg game of all time. The characters, the story, the gameplay was all amazing. Combat was really interesting. The social mechanics were super fun. Even though I was just doing things I do in life normally, stuff like attending school and that, the game was able to make it super fun.

One of the greatest games of all time and that's not an exaggeration based on recency bias nor rose-colored glasses. I played P5 when it first came out in 2017 and have played it at least 5 times since then across multiple platforms and it gets better with each run. The story will last you between 80-120 hours so it takes a STRONG game to make the time investment worth it, but that's what this game is. Wonderful characters and relationships, incredible storyline and writing, ingenious dungeon design and just a sense of heart and justice that prevails throughout the game all make this an unforgettable experience. In a day and age when developers cut corners and cheap out, this game went all-in to deliver an amazing product for consumers of all types to enjoy. Get this game and you won't regret it.

Another masterpiece of a game easily. It's strange because when you start it you probably have mixed feelings about the long tutorial or the (imo) less overall serious tone of the game and perhaps you have misgivings about some of the confidants writing. But then you start getting into real meat of the social links, the story starts coming together and the game lets you do everything and combat really pops off. Then the vocal parts of Beneath The Mask start to play and you think - Yeah this game is incredible. There's something about this game when it all comes together to make something wholly unique and with a vibe like no other. Buy this you will not regret it for a single second.

Arguably the best modern Persona game. Although I loved playing 3, 4, and any other spin-off persona game none of them came close to the enjoyment I got out of playing this game. Not only is this the most re-playable Persona game with the thousands of things you can do, but the story is simple yet complex enough to feel refreshing each time you play through it. You may know what's going to happen next and the dialogue options may never change the course of the story but at the end of the day it's still feels like you can play this game differently every time. Now, before any Persona fans hold a knife to my throat for claiming 5 to be the best, I will admit that I am a bit biased to this game. I played this game during a rough time in my life and felt like an outcast to my own family, so when I sat alone browsing my Steam Library and noticed this unplayed game, I would never had expecting to find a story about a group of misfits coming together to right the wrongs they've experienced and struggle to have their voices heard. A tale that at the time hit a little too close to home. So this game will always hold a special place in my heart for helping me pull through. So if you're in a similar situation to what I was before and are looking for an outlet, or you just want a fun game to play. Don't sleep on Persona 5 Royal.

Let me start with this: I haven’t finished Persona 5 yet—but that hasn’t stopped it from planting itself firmly in my list of all-time favorite RPGs. It’s stylish, it’s deep, it’s got attitude for days, and it’s been hogging every spare moment I’ve had. My wife’s not thrilled, but hey, Phantom Thieves gotta steal hearts, right? The gameplay is slick and addictive. From turn-based combat that actually feels strategic and satisfying, to dungeon crawling with puzzle-lite mechanics, to the surprisingly chill life-sim elements, the game keeps finding new ways to pull me in. One minute I’m battling corrupted adults in their grotesque Palaces, the next I’m cramming for exams, working a part-time job, or feeding a plant —all somehow tied to saving the world. The story? It’s bonkers, in a good way. It dives into some heavy themes—corruption, abuse of power, personal freedom—and it doesn’t hold back. The characters are flawed, fiery, and full of growth. I genuinely care about this group of rebellious teens, even if they spend half their time bickering like a dysfunctional anime sitcom cast. Now, the dialogue... yeah, I won’t lie, some of it had me tilting my head. There’s a certain cadence and phrasing in the Japanese-to-English translation that occasionally feels off to Western ears. Not bad—just different. It takes some adjusting, and every now and then I’d catch myself rereading a line just to make sure I understood the tone. But honestly? That slight cultural disconnect kinda adds to the charm. It's like visiting Tokyo through a video game and picking up a few quirks along the way. And then there’s the knowledge checks—the in-game quiz questions that are often rooted in real-world trivia. It’s nerdy in the best way. I’ve learned things I didn't expect, and occasionally felt called out for forgetting stuff I should know (thanks, Persona, for the academic guilt trip). In short: Persona 5 is a beautifully layered experience. Even unfinished, it’s a top-tier RPG. It challenges your brain, rewards your time, and just oozes personality. Sure, it might be testing the limits of my domestic bliss, but at least I’ll go down knowing I maxed out my Confidants and aced those midterms. Verdict (So Far): 9.5/10 – Would recommend, just don’t let your spouse catch you choosing Futaba over real-life plans.

One of the best game in the whole Persona series. The dungeon crawling is way better, not as time-consuming as the older games and there’s EXP share, so you don’t have to grind every character. That gives you more time to enjoy the story and level up Confidants. The story has a bit of everything: funny moments, emotional scenes, and even deep life lessons — especially in the third semester. Even the side characters are interesting enough that you’ll want to max their Confidants just to see how their lives turn out for the better, not just for the sake of unlocking persona. The villains are great too. Their schemes actually make you want to stop them, not just because you have to or because they intend to harm you and your friends — but because it feels right. Tokyo looks amazing, and there’s a ton to do. Honestly, the one-year time limit makes it tough to do everything — max Confidants, max social stats, explore Mementos, and still have fun in the city. But that’s what makes replaying fun too. Combat feels faster and smoother with new mechanics, and the Persona designs and Palaces are awesome. New Personas and added story content are a big plus. Finishing the game can feel bittersweet, as you leave and cherish this wonderful world and its memorable characters. Easily a 10/10 for what I paid. A must-play turnbased dungeon crawling and great story jrpg.

Props to this game for getting me into jazz years ago before I even actually played this game. Just finished my music degree a week before finishing this game, you could basically say this game (specifically its soundtrack) had a big role in my career choices! Amazing game, final hours of Royal were kind of frustrating, but I feel very happy now after getting through that. Most satisfying turn-based combat and most fun story I've experienced in a while. hell yeah persona!!! P3R next

A very good story and even though it may feel like it has major anime tropes it, it manages to work really well. Good characters and phenomenal progression to the point where you will lose track of time while playing this. The best part about this is the social aspect which is very addictive and balanced for everyone

Let me be honest with you: I am utterly, completely, passionately obsessed with pancakes. I'm not just talking about liking them. I'm talking about daydreaming-about-maple-syrup kind of obsessed. I’ve eaten pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’ve tried 27 different syrup flavors. I own a spatula with a smiling pancake printed on it. There is just something transcendent about pancakes. The golden brown edges, the fluffy centers, the warm steam rising as you cut into them... tell me that isn’t the breakfast of the gods! You can top them with blueberries, bananas, whipped cream, or peanut butter (trust me it works). Or, go savory with bacon, cheese, and a little hot sauce. Pancakes are basically the blank canvas of the culinary world. If you can dream it, a pancake can become it. Every Sunday, I host a “Pancake Ritual.” It involves a sacred mixing bowl, a playlist of pancake-themed songs, and the skinning of no fewer than 12 Tunisian refugees. I sometimes cry a little when the first one turns out perfect. It’s beautiful.

As someone who's never put more than 30-40 hours in a single player game (mostly action RPGs) this is actually a 100+ hour must play JRPG, especially with challenging yet fun combat, incredible characters, and everything else you've seen someone say about this game so when someone tells you to play this game, you WILL play it. Unmatchable experience. Amazing story. Amazing characters. Amazing gameplay. Amazing voice cast. Very stylish and very memorable game, one that is TRULY impacting those who fully finish it. I strongly recommend playing this game, even if you don't like JRPG's, despite this game taking almost 100+ hours to finish it, those 100+ hours are WORTH. EVERY. SECOND
P.S This is what a life-changing game looks like... yeah, i'm talking about you clair obscure: unreviewable 33. For the past several months all I've been hearing of how amazing Clair Obscure is, so I've "illegaly obtained" a copy of it, finished it, and without a doubt I'll say that Clair Obscure is nothing but a total dumpster, despite taking strong sides from games like Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy and ESPECIALLY Persona it still feels like I'm playing an unfinished 1 of the above mentioned games or some sort of "wannabe" Persona-like game. This review is not about Clair Obscure though, but I can't point this game out, since everyone is talking about it's success, a GOTY of 2025 and all that stuff. After being absolutely dissappointed how Clair Obscure brought absolutely nothing but combined successful formula in a combo powered by the almighty Unreal Engine 5, I geniunely started thinking... Is it really what it takes nowadays to be praised? Releasing a mid game? I'm honestly very dissappointed in how things are working out with gaming industry, I know, you guys are probably are too, but unfortunately I can't close my eyes on it. After finishing Persona 5 I fully realised what a good game is, a good game is that does not treat you like a stranger, not explaining how things work around here, damn, even after a YEAR break and coming back to Persona I'm still being warmly greeted by how well this game treats your time and your nerves. This game doesn't force you into anything, it only pushes you to learn everything this game has to offer, no "ONLY FOR HARDCORE GAMERS" or "GAME CRAFTED BY TRUE GAMERS" labels, just an amazing game, that is well made and plays like a good cartoon/anime. (although im not into anime i still enjoyed every second spent in this game)
Feel free to drop your comment of disagreement , "Jester" or "Hot Take" reward, I appreciate it.

I love this game. Everything from the story to the gameplay is magnificent. There were moments that I disliked such as
Okumura
's boss fight. It isn't hard, it's just bad. The beginning of the addition in Royal felt like it stretched the story a little to long but ended perfectly. And the difficulty was WAYYY TOO EASY. I switched to Hard (not merciless because that is for some reason easier) because I want the bosses to live more than 6 rounds. I never even grinded. The non-mandatory bosses (Reaper and
Jose
) are fun because they can actually give me a challenge. Even with these flaws, it's a game that will stick with me for a long time. I'm not gonna disclose more, as to not get personal in a little review. This is my favourite Persona game of the three. Pancakes. If you want to play it: I recommend not doing any of the DLC stuff until you are on NG+ because they are broken. Don't interact with the box in your room, that's how you unlock the DLC. Also try to max
Councillor
,
Justice
, and
Faith
confidants for the best experience. I think the first one is mandatory for the true ending. Remember, take your time.

My third experience of the franchise after Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica, The game is wonderful, with remarkable characters and well-developed through the confidants. And it's funny that even in the easiest game mode the experience continues to be challenging. I've played it twice and 275~ hours and still haven't been able to fully explore the Tokyo map that the game provides. It was, so far, my best experience with the franchise, a franchise in which every game comes with a free album with equally wonderful songs, the soundtrack for this game is PEAK! It was worth every penny.

This is the 4th platform and 5th time I've bought persona 5 in some way shape or form. It is the easiest game to recommend in the series by far. Flashy stylist and once it gets your hooks in yo, you'll find it hard to put down. A simple mix of anime highschool slice of life with pokemon style collecting and battling paired with a fun story of changing the world around you and finding connection in the unlikliest of places. The additional content royal added is very welcome espeically as Maruki is one of the final roles of Billy Kametz aka Josuke from Jojo part 4 and thats just kind of a cool full circle thing to have persona and jojo crossovers given how stands and personas are the same thing.... what was I talking about again? Oh yeah this game rocks!

Game is a bit too easy for me, the final boss (3rd semester) took a few attempts and the 5th boss (the blue shit) can go to hell but that's about it. It's still a great game with a compelling story and battle system but the technicals and batton passes need to be rebalanced. Doing every social stat and confidant is hell, even with the 3rd semester i missed 1 singular rank for the Hanged Man. Overall it's a 7/10. Compelling story, NG+, fusions and confidants are all good. Battles may be too simple for me but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy them more.

This game, which I am not even into the second palace yet, is absolutely life changing. I would put this game in the leagues of Red Dead Redemption 2 and story games of that sort, simply due to the emotions tied to it and the fact that I am more than definitely addicted to this game. It is 60 dollars, but this holy grail of a game is truly worth more than it costs, and in such, it is the highest way robbery. I will probably end up crying just thinking about playing it, and I plan for that to be consistent all the time.

A great JRPG experience. I enjoyed a lot of the confidants that the game has, even though I didn't get them all to 10. The palaces are well designed, and looking at the changes to base persona 5 from bosses being reworked/rebalanced for a better fight and adding in whole new mechanics like the grappeling hook to the will seeds. Plus with the 3rd semester adding some of my favorite characters in the game. Only thing is I wish more lines were voiced and I'm glad the new remakes of 3 and hopefully 4 have just about all lines for social links being voiced. 9/10, not perfect but I think persona 6 will take that when it comes out.

This was my introduction to the Persona series and now stands as one of my favorite games of all time. Persona 5's story resonated with me on a deeply personal level, and I adore this cast of characters so much. The combat is also a masterclass of its genre and very satisfying to master. Even if you don't enjoy the RPG genre, I'd recommend at least giving this game a shot. It's definitely worth the hype!

Growing up on Pokemon, I always loved the weakness and strengths of the monsters but this game made me realize that wasn't even the tip of the iceberg of turn-based tactics. The fact that you can not only block and resist different types of attacks, but REFLECT them back is game changing for me and other basic turn based game enjoyer. Also I learned the hard way about type reflection, I almost one-shoot myself with my own attack move. Please if you are on the fence about this game, take a leap of faith and I doubt you'll regret it
