Do you know the Car Mechanic Simulator game? That whole game is just one gamplay feature in this one. Watching the screenshots you may think that this is a simple indie game. You can't be more wrong. This is a full AA with tens, even hundreds of hours of gameplay where the gameplay loop is so addictive you can't stop. A little breakdown: Start Build your car (i recommend without guides if you can figure it out, the satisfaction is immense) Car breaks Work to repair car Start over Game has no journal, task manager, schedule, even a map (besides one at your home). This is a full blown life simulator in a package of a small indie game. The attention to detail and the immersion this game has is astonishing. If you are at least somewhat intersted in cars and such, you won't be able to stop playing this. Just buy it and thank me later

Engine blows, no fuel, gonna have to push this heap of perkele to the gas station. Get out car, start to push the car, it does a 180 degree front flip and every piece of bodywork is obliterated. Alt-F4 I love it. Suomi Finland Perkele!

My Summer Car is an unapologetically detailed and uniquely immersive simulation game that delivers a one-of-a-kind blend of mechanical engineering, survival elements, and absurd Finnish humor. Developed by the one-man team at Amistech Games, this title places players in the shoes of a teenage boy in 1990s rural Finland, tasked with rebuilding his deceased father’s dilapidated car from scratch. But My Summer Car isn’t just about bolting together an engine—it’s a chaotic, slow-burn life simulator that captures the frustration, joy, and unpredictability of growing up broke, alone, and armed with only basic tools and questionable judgment. At its core, My Summer Car is a deeply intricate car-building simulator. Players must assemble the titular vehicle from hundreds of individual parts, including everything from pistons and crankshafts to carburetors and exhaust pipes. Every bolt must be tightened by hand, and every misstep—like forgetting to torque down a cylinder head—can result in catastrophic engine failure later on. The game offers no handholding, tutorials, or UI markers. Instead, it expects players to learn the mechanics of the car through trial and error, online guides, or sheer determination. That level of realism and freedom gives the game its infamous learning curve, but it also makes finally driving your self-built Satsuma a deeply satisfying experience. Beyond the mechanical work, My Summer Car introduces a complex survival system. You must eat, drink, bathe, sleep, and use the toilet—or risk dying from dehydration, starvation, exhaustion, or even from falling into a lake drunk. Time moves in real-time, and the world is unforgiving. There’s no auto-save, and death is permanent unless manually backed up—giving weight to every decision, whether it’s driving drunk to the store for sausage or deciding to ignore your rising urine meter during a trip to the mechanic. The balance between mundane tasks and chaotic unpredictability is a constant source of both tension and dark humor. Adding to the game’s appeal is its eccentric and richly atmospheric setting. The Finnish countryside is lovingly rendered with dirt roads, pine forests, lakes, and sparse towns that perfectly evoke the feeling of youthful summers spent in isolation and boredom. The cast of NPCs is small but unforgettable, including the foul-mouthed drunk Teimo, a perverted delivery driver, and your unseen, nagging grandmother. Random events, like being run off the road by a reckless van or encountering a drunk driver at night, inject a constant sense of danger and unpredictability into the seemingly mundane world. What truly sets My Summer Car apart is its sense of character. It’s a game that doesn’t care if you have fun in a traditional sense. It's absurd, stubborn, and brutally honest in its depiction of rural life. The crude humor, the realistic engine physics, the disgusting hygiene system, and the total lack of structure combine to create something far more personal and memorable than most polished AAA titles. It’s a love letter to youth, grease-stained fingers, cheap beer, and aimless summers with nothing but time and terrible decisions. That said, My Summer Car is not for everyone. The interface is clunky, the graphics are dated, and the game can be deeply frustrating for players expecting direction or polish. Its mechanics are obtuse by design, and its humor might not land with everyone. But for those willing to embrace its weirdness and patience-testing systems, it becomes something special—an experience that’s as much about discovery as it is about simulation. In conclusion, My Summer Car is a bizarre, brilliant, and brutally honest game that defies genre conventions and rewards curiosity, persistence, and a good sense of humor. It captures the messy reality of adolescence, the joy of working with your hands, and the unpredictability of life in a way few games even attempt. Whether you’re wrenching on your engine under a blistering sun or passing out drunk in a ditch after a failed road trip, My Summer Car offers a weirdly beautiful simulation of life at its most unfiltered. This game is honestly pretty fun, building the car (with a guide) was pretty relaxing. Game plays like more of a life-sim than a car game.

Amazing survival game and car maintenance/tuning game, only part I dislike about this game is the physics which can cause vehicles and items to bug out at times. Other than that, this game is an amazing single player experience that I would recommend to anyone who likes cars. The game also features hardcore aspects when you enable permadeath if you're looking for a more difficult experience.

Wayyyy too glitchy of a game. Constantly fighting with the atrocious physics. Trying to build the car. Engine flying off into space for no reason. wtf

Game would be fun if it had proper controller support. Should not be a pain and have to download various 3rd party tools and set up processes to use a controller. Buyer Beware if you hate using mouse and keyboard maybe look to a different game unless you want to waste further time and hassle trying to configure controller support through various 3rd party means.

Realised I couldn't finish the car without some supplies. Buys what I need and puts in on the bike. The bike doesn't start because I had it set on the reserve tank the whole journey. The bike then glitches and pisses off into Sweden. Great game.

This is not just a game, it's a way of life. It's arthouse in its purest form, a very unique and unforgettable experience. I've played the game for hundreds of hours before, and throughout these hours I've never fully grown tired of the game. It's not just a game, it's a meditation for me. The slow-paced gameplay, the sounds of the world, filled with birds, chainsaw sounds, rain, thunderstorm – it drives me into a state where I am as relaxed as possible. No real-world problems can affect me, nor do they matter. For the next hours I am just a young Finnish boy, living in a suburban area, enjoying the best time of his life. It's almost poetic. Where the other games require you to rush to the next objective, complete quests and do something – this game just says "Win the rally". Ultimate goal. So simple, yet so vivid at the beginning. Nobody is there to guide you, nor to help you. It's up to you to decide how you want to play. My Summer Car just throws you into the pond and says "Now you are on your own, good luck. Actually no, no luck for you." And for the next many, many hours you find yourself in an endless cycle, where every day feels so different, yet so identical for some reason. This is not at all a polished game. There are countless bugs, wonky physics make you irritated sometimes, and overall the learning curve is just too steep and can scare a newcomer. This is a game where you can look through walls, fly into the sky by accident, phase through your car, but at the same time you can die if you change dead fuses during a thunderstorm without turning off the electricity first. And this inconsistency can be off-putting for somebody who just wants to play the game without wondering what else can kill you. This is just how MSC is, either you like it or you don't. What makes the game so unique is its variety of playstyles. You can play full vanilla, but be prepared to suffer, because you might end up in a situation where you cannot avoid using mods. You can look up guides beforehand to know about the main mechanics of the game, its quirks, etc. This does not spoil the game for you at all, but it is drastically different from exploring everything by yourself. You can play with minimal mod enhancements that improve your quality of life, like RegisterFix, GrabAnything mod, CD Enhanced, Garage Pit Covers, and so on. They don't spoil the game – they make it more enjoyable. You can even change how the developer intended for you to play the game – I, for one, am a massive fan of the following playstyle: You install the WearRate mod and reduce the wear rate of Satsuma's parts from 100% to 35%. Now Satsuma is not just your project car – it's your daily drive. I like this way of playing the most, because I feel even more connected to my beloved Satsuma. I drive it, I care about it, I change oil constantly, light bulbs, oil filters, because I love the car, and the car loves me. This way you don't need to rebuild your engine every 1000 kilometers, which is just ridiculous. I understand that the developer wanted us to use Satsuma more like a goal rather than a useful tool, but I just don't like it this way. Judge me all you want, the game allows me to do this – and I'm going to do it. This makes me happy. There are countless mods for this game: From custom houses to custom cars, additional items, and gameplay tweaks – everything can be downloaded. And this is what makes this game so beautiful. Nobody forces you to do anything. Or play the way the developer intended. Nobody cares. Nobody judges. This game is your safe space, your journey. This game encourages problem-solving skills, analyzing how the car behaves and trying to fix it. Before this game, I knew nothing about cars at all. After this game I understood exactly which parts do what, because I've seen them at work with my own eyes. Now I can visualize how the car works without needing to own one of my own. Buy this game. Play this game. Be happy. Hyvästi! P.S. By the way, I encourage you to use the Minipekka PC. It's so cool! Connect to the chat with TeleBBS (you can find a guide on Steam), it blew my mind just how immersive it is. This experience is truly unique.

this game is way harder than it should be, but its still fun. dying sends you to some random cemetary and it takes an hour to walk home. you also have to control hunger, thirst and even pay bills? although building a rusty old car and drinking and driving it makes up for those things (and all of the wtf bugs) i wouldnt recommend this game to someone whos looking for immediate action or a "easy/chill time". this game is auctualy stressfull lol. but if your looking for a chaotic game i can recommend this

i love having to buy food by driving across the map on the moped just to realize that its getting dark and the store is closed and waiting 2 hours for it to open. Did i mention you have to go home to save the game and its dark out meaning you get lost easily? Don't forget you'll run out of 2 stroke oil so unless your really patient your losing your entire save. Its still really fun though

Crashed and Died lost everything from 35 hours of progress. its a great game with quite a few flaws, but i love it for that. Mods are genuinely needed to play this game and to help prevent your own suicide. You don't necessarily have to know too much about cars, but it will take a long time without a video. Ill just say the building/repairing system is in-depth although its not for the faint of heart. Rant- You start with practically broken parts and if you drive like me those near broken parts don't last a ride to the repair shop. These parts that accrue "wear and tear" don't even spawn with 100% wear? The jobs are far too hard, im talking crazy amounts of time for 3500mks, this game would be 10/10 if it were a mechanic sim with all its roots just easier to repair, and more. Travel the entire map in the slowest vehicle for 16 fucking hay-bales (No they don't all fit on the trailer no matter how you stack them). But that's what makes this game amazing, if you want a tough mechanic life sim, this game is for you. Piss in your mouth to dispel the thirst. Make moonshine, get pulled over wasted, destroy your car on the interstate, all things you want to do in real life but cannot. Truely the life sim of all life sims. Cannot wait for My Winter Car

Pretty fun game until you spend 5 hours to build the car only for it to not start or brake mid drive. And the game breaking bugs like driving normally and hitting an invisible bump at 180 km/h, flying 50 meters into the air, dying and coming back to your car just to find it in 2 million different pieces.
