Very unique title that's been a blast to play. A great feeling deckbuilder with tons of synergy options and chances to customize both your overall deck and what sections of it you choose to take into any given battle. Elements of push-your-luck on post battle loot, and a darkest dungeon-esque town as a chance to enact some deck fixing in between excursions leave a ton of creative space in each run.
The runs are decent length for this style of game, I've finished three now at about two hours apiece. Each run offers opportunities to knock out minor meta-progression quests that unlock new units and variant card selections for those units as you go, only furthering the ability to tune a run to your interests.
There's a lot already on the table and the commitment to new additions (since my second run there's already been a fairly moderate addition/change to mechanics and tuning) and clearly communicating development (in-menu timer to the next update), if you like deck building strategies but want something that breaks the Slay the Spire mold, this is a great pickup.

Beautiful art, cool blend of slay the spire and darkest dungeon, will be one of the best once its done, until then I'm glad the crash report screen has a "send and restart" button as I've had to use more than 3 times per run.

As We Descend is a captivating blend of roguelike mechanics, deep strategy, and immersive atmosphere that has quickly become one of my favorite gaming experiences this year.
The game remembers me a lot slay the spire, as other people already mentioned.
While the difficulty can be brutal at times, it’s also one of its biggest strengths. The sense of progression and mastery you get from learning its mechanics is very satysfing
In short, As We Descend is a must-play for anyone who appreciates deep, challenging, and beautifully crafted roguelike games. It has quickly earned a place in my library as a title I’ll return to again and again.
I also really appreciated the Italian translation.

Quite an interesting roguelike. The gameplay is unusual, at least I haven't seen anything like it before. I've seen many reviews saying that the game is similar to Slay the Spire, but that's not true. Slay the Spire has much simpler gameplay. The only similarities are the presence of teches, power-ups like relics in Slay the Spire, and the traits of some enemies, which are clearly taken from that game. Oh, and the presence of cards (but that's not unique to Slay the Spire). Everything else is completely different.
I bought it at the original price before the price drop, but I don't regret paying more at all. The game is really cool!
And thank you for the Ukrainian localization! The translation is really high quality! I've played several other games with official Ukrainian translations that came out in the last couple of months, but the translations were pretty mediocre everywhere. Here, it's excellent.

Regional Pricing helped me make this purchase. I am leaving a positive review since I have high hopes the finished product will be amazing. In it's current state it is still a solid game and quite fun. I'd probably compare it with Hand of Gilgamech or Across the Obelisk but with more focus on the base instead of the characters.
I left a review with little gameplay time since I played the demo quite a bit.

My little foray into As We Descend has left me satisfied and intrigued.
While deck building coupled with tactical combat isn't necessarily the rarest hybrid ever, it's nonetheless a tempting combo, one that As We Descend implements and wields without incident.
On top of that, when you aren't busy fighting for your life, you get to experience some pretty neat card-based (mis)adventures within the city. Those are quick enough to handle, they aren't even remotely disruptive in my experience, and in case you care they do manage to nicely bolster the game's setting and general atmosphere.
Overall, As We Descend is a pleasant surprise both in terms of the way it's designed and the obvious effort that went into the artwork. I will be watching its early access journey with great interest.

As We Descend is a wonderful Roguelike deck builder.
Even in its current form, As We Descend is about as deep as a roguelike deckbuilder can get without becoming more trouble than it’s worth.
It’s layered, rewarding, and constantly engaging.
Well worth jumping in now if you like the sound of this apocalyptic card game.

Art and atmosphere are great. Gameplay loop simple enough and doesn't get boring. OPTIMIZATION IS TERRIBLE.

The hand being too small and cluttered with both lantern cards and movement cards in the same hand really brings down my enjoyment of the game.
I'd recommend a different system for the lantern cards, maybe even a separate hand or perhaps cool downs? Base movement feels kind of a waste, filling up your hand with cards when I believe it could be a turn based resource. Maybe 2 - 3 movement tokens a turn.
I'll prob still try my hand at the game but I only do that hoping the game feels better later on; if it doesn't I'll prob drop it after a while.
~------------------------------------------------~
Played a bit more and the game doesn't feel right, I completed a run finally. Killed the three faced boss with luck. I hope there is more we can do with our units in the future. Maybe even get rid of one of the ones we don't like, or maybe being able to upgrade them into another unit type. The hand size & clutter problem still persists.

finish all level in about 2 hour, then what to do next? just trying new unit and ascension (in a level you've already completed).
if you're looking for lots of unique level run, this game not for you.
be prepared to read overwhelming amount of keyword/stat/buff/debuff/whateverelse, you'll likely will read more than playing in your first couple of run.

This game manages to be novel and exciting in an overcrowded genre while also telling a very interesting story with really cool lore. I have trouble picking out a thing I love most - having npc cards with stats who do social stuff between rounds? Staggering bosses and hitting weak points? Your character being integrated into the story like an RPG? Every unit looking rad as hell? Idk folks. You should buy it.

A Real hidden gem. Just found it browsing. looked interesting enough to check out. This game is a solid Roguelike Deckbuilder, and I can see myself putting at least 40 hours into it. The jump between difficulties is large, but that makes sense, as you're meant to play each one a few times to unlock more, so you have a better shot at surviving the others.

Amazing concept, great execution. The potential for this game is insane and even only with the EA content it's well worth the price. I hope the devs continue developing it.
My small nitpick would be that the ui especially for effects should be made clearer it's currently a bit hard to read.

I really like this game. I want to play more and I am looking forward to the updates. Given that it's early access, I am leaving the following feedback for the devs.
Animations are choppy around the city sections
The attacks feel like they've been sped up 1.5x. The game animations (card draw, card play, character anims) seem VERY manic right now and need to slow down just a little. The feedback feels choppy.
Needs a lot of balance; the battles become too grindy yb region 3 and 4 and ability to cause damage does not scale.
The Optics perk and the associated card kept spawning on repeat, which turned into a tiring activity of playing the same card repeatedly until it stops.
Dragging cards to city windows is a bit clunky and i'm not able to always tell when I will get the coppers.
I'm guessing a bunch of the tech assembly art assets are placeholder because they look very low-fi and cheap.

Lot of needlessly complicated choices and paths in the game for no reason, and bout time you get to actual gameplay nothing is really explained no where so your essentially lost,
i guess this is suppose to be a deckbuilder: slay the spire type game, so far it need a lot more polishing
Game Nodes need balancing some nodes are just not worth picking, the game looks nice and if you were to read all the tech you can see they put time into the dialog, but after all that wears off you want to get into the game and the games almost feels bare bones, combat is super quick then back to walls of dialog again
IT would be nice to draft your lamp cards or start unit cards, there are alternative setups for each but every run pretty much ends up the same since you are forced to use these cards, and even with the alt setup if your draft dont give you a good synergistic unit you might as well just auto start over because there are to many effects to try to go fully random when you on hardmode

TLDR: The game is very original and has a lot of replayability, and the recent price localization finally made it reasonable to give it a shot.
This game is a fresh take on the overly saturated deck building rogue-lite genre, the art is very good, and the whole "protect the city" concept and lore gives the game a really good identity.
Speaking of mechanics, the game has a really interesting concept that divides your deck in two instances:
The Lantern deck - which is something like a city guardian, focused on making units stronger or giving them shield.
Units deck - Which changes depending on which units you bring to a fight, and can be changed. (the units need carefull placement in the field as well)
This gives each run much diversity and the game have at the moment 2 factions with very unique identities and a third one is planned do be added during early acess.

I’m really enjoying this game! The deck-building mechanics are fun, and I like how the different zones and enemy interactions add depth to the gameplay. The variety of enemies has been solid so far and keeps things engaging.
That said, there are a few quality-of-life features I’d love to see added. For example, when using an item to revive a unit, it’s easy to misclick in the menu and accidentally choose to heal someone instead. It would be great to have the option to go back and still select the revive action while being within the interaction with the NPC.
I’m also finding the two available factions a bit too similar. While they are distinct in some ways, some of their units feel nearly identical aside from different artwork. I’d love to see more differentiation between them in terms of abilities or playstyle.
Overall, though, I’m having a great time—keep up the good work!

8.5/10 Very Good Game
Solid foundation but has room for improvement and more content (expected with early access game)
The current 2 factions feel solid, engaging and different.
Good variety of enemy mobs & bosses and playable units.
Lots of potential builds.
Challenging but not out right impossible, though I see it approaching impossible with all the difficulty mods selected.
Haven't found any bugs or had any negative experiences.

Key takeaways from this are:

+ Great feel and atmosphere

+ Interesting mechanics, with synergies between units

+ Easy to pick-up and start

- Poor Balance

- Unfinished
I managed to "win" (the game is unfinished as of writing) my first run in 4 hours. While the game is overall good and worth picking up on sale, the poor balance doesn't make me want to replay the game. Balance and number adjustment can always be done later and since the fundamentals are pretty good, this could become a banger supreme later on if the devs look into the numbers on their cards a bit.

Good game, played two hours and plan to play more.
Gameplay is good, atmosphere is adventurous, worldbuilding is mysterious, music works well on the atmosphere, visual style and character design - are two things I really enjoyed.
Really looking forward to the full release with Steam cards and achievements!

great game so far. different take on deck builders where you are buildings units and an army you are trying to keep alive while exploring and getting more resources. you slowly explore your city each run and figure out strats to make your runs easier while winning lets you make things harder and add more variance.
only 3 factions right now and 4.5 hours in was 3 runs so hour half to win a run or so you can be faster i was taking it slow.
looking to more updates

Vary nice roguelike deckbuilder.
2 factions with different units, each having different builds (and 3rd facton coming later).
Additional options you unlock through runs you can disable before the run - nice feature if you want to reduce variance or if you don't like new playstyle.
Good HoMM-style attack animations, nice 3d environments that are welcome addition after all the 2d games.
Good number of monster mechanics, that are announced to you before battle so you can choose right units for the battle.
Decent variety of random encounters, runs feel pretty different depending on what you get.
If you like slay the spire type games, I recomend you try this.

The perfect combo of roguelike, deck builder and turn-based game!
After nearly 24 hours of play, and a dozen games including 6 victories, I'm starting to get the hang of this early access game. The formula works very well, and I recommend the game!
Strengths:
- the combo gives a very fresh result, which I've never seen before
- despite a small entry fee to discover the universe, the system is very intuitive and you progress very quickly
- the difficulty is progressive, a far cry from darkest dungeon. It's hard, you have to think and analyze, but it's largely doable. (I suspect the game will give you premium bonuses after you've lost a few games).
- For the time being, two large deck families are available, both with very different game play. Switching between them gives the impression of discovering a new game, even if the mechanics are identical!
- As for replayability, the number of possible decks is quite surprising.
- Last but not least, the atmosphere is well crafted (we hope that in the final version, it will be further developed with a little more lore), and the bestiary is rather varied.
Downsides:
- the dialogue phases are a little repetitive as you go from one run to the next
- it's a shame not to have more choices for the very first unit you have
- when you win a game, you're left a little hungry. A little cinematic or something similar would be welcome
- in-game options: a little obscure as to the conditions to be met before entering a location, which results in a punishing and unfair gameplay mechanics. A run can be ruined by a lack of information.
Many thanks to the developers for this great game!

Literally my favorite rouge-lite deck-builder. Its a bit shallow in terms of the amount of content at its current state, but my god is the game-play loop on point. Really interesting spin on the formula with a lot of addictive strategies and mix-ups. I cannot wait to keep playing this through the rest of its development and beyond!

So far the game is good, I hope devs will keep up with the patches. I would love to have some way to customize the armor and the color of our troops perhaps that would be a cool thing to add. All in all game is okay maybe wait for the sale to get it. There is still not enough content here for that price.

I really want to like this game but the rng just seems kinda stupid at times. I enjoy a challenge but loading a run and all three monsters are attacking my 15 health lantern for 15 a piece so I just auto lose is not fun. I also feel like the bloat of useless cards that are not helpful at all is annoying. The shields too are pretty useless late game when my entire board is getting hit for 10+. Def gonna just get better and better as they work on it.

Interesting take on turn-based roguelikes, fairly hard but not overly complex, per se
There's what seems like a lot of trap options when drafting unit perks and whatnot, some perks are just flat out busted and some aren't very useful. Managing your limited resources is a big thing, it's hard to tell at first what the favor sources and sinks are and when to use them. Steep learning curve in terms of enemies and abilities. For example, how many enemies can just bypass your troops and attack your lantern?
There's a lot of tension between resources, right now the game feels pretty hard. It's fun to play (if you're a masochist for this sort of thing) but I'm not sure I'm really enjoying the gameplay loop itself; it feels more roguelike than roguelite, although there are unlocks. But they don't really give much feeling of becoming stronger at the beginning, getting past the first boss is a fairly linear affair.
I think it's an interesting idea but it feels a bit grindy at the moment. I worry it will fall into the category of "wiki games" where you need to know what's going to happen in advance or you'll outright lose to a bad, untelegraphed Thing You Need To Learn. Which I find mostly a waste of time in roguelikes, particularly dense ones where you might not see things often enough to learn them, YMMV.
Overall I'm glad to be playing it but most slog games could really use a demo to let people know what they're in for, I don't know if I'd buy this blind if I didn't love, I don't know, The Last Spell.

Not into deck builders, but absolutely love this. Mechanics, graphics, just all around fantastic. My one issue is that the runs need to be longer i'm not a huge fan of just adding difficulty modifiers, so hopefully in the future maybe DLC. I like the customization and perks, haven't delved into the second faction much

Very Solid Game for its price point. Interesting take on genre and I'd like to see more of it for sure.
It was pretty fun and consistent until I met the Warlock I think it was? Playing as the zappy bois... anyways Warlock Shifts between "50%" Ranged mitigation to 50% Melee mitigation every so often. This alone wouldn't be so bad despite the turns your units are "that type" they plink for well under 50% I feel. But this boss also has Weak Point armor which seems to reduce all your weak point dmg to 1 as long as its up. You can break this with 10 dmg... at 1 dmg a plink. Good luck with that in one turn unless you were expecting it maybe. then ON TOP of that he shits out like 35 shield after every break... which seems to stick around until you plink your way through that. It was a very long boring battle. Not a single one of my cards gave me the upper hand at any point and I only got him halfway dead before wiping. The team I had had things well in hand until this point. PS Anytime this guy attacks its either one target for like 50 dmg or both zones for 16. So he rips your guys up really good if you don't shield them constantly. Then he also Exhauts everyone for 2 rounds as well. so... Like... No auto attacks and all your cards cost 2x as much... like... Is this the final guy? or Just some roided out rando?

This is a great game and I think it is well worth the investment of you enjoy turn based combat.
Some feedback:
1. I am playing on a ROG Ally so I don't know if this is a lack of optimization but a lot of screen transitions and loading feature assets popping in from previous screens/other places for a few seconds before disappearing.
2: I was loving discovering all of the character archetypes in this world so I was quite crestfallen when I got to the second faction and saw that it was the same archetypes with some modifications. This setting seems more than deep enough to have simply supplied new archetypes entirely.
3. The reward screen for expeditions makes you click on your free treasures multiple times and reminds you that you will leave treasure behind because you did not click on it enough. Why not just auto capture everything and just let the player move on without all the extra clicking?
4. The Votive Navigator card "channel" doesn't actually work until another empower card has been used to get her to level 1 empowered. It does nothing if it used before that point.

This game has a lot of promise.
It has the eerie lonely feeling of Darkest Dungeon, yet makes you feel responsible for an entire city.
There are fun little quirks in the mechanics and gameplay loop, and the combat is thoughtful. I enjoyed the progression so far. Upgrading units is noticeable, and skill usage is vital in most fights.
I know there is a lot of potential here, and I look forward to seeing new content as it's added.

Right now the game is a promise of something great. Combat system, progression within a run, roguelight elements - all the saplings are there. Let's hope the devs do not screw this up. Looking forward to future updates.
Also, it would be tremendous if this game could be optimised for Steamdeck in the foreseeable future.
