The other characters' subplots never get resolved, which was quite unsatisfying. I found Mashiro quite likable, so I wanted to see her succeed in her goals, but the game simply ends as soon as the main conflict is over.
In hindsight, the scene where she confides in Marin ends up only serving to further Marin's development, as Mashiro never gets a chance to confess herself. There are hints of deeper family issues for both Mashiro and Kiyoka, but this again does not really get proper exploration, you're left to just imagine that it all works out.
The game is just too short for it's own good, it hints at many different subplots, yet barely makes time to explore any of them. It goes beyond just being open ended.
The game also lives up the it's description of "1% surprise" as I found the twist incredibly obvious from very early on.
The sprites being animated is quite nice, however it's incredibly simplistic, to the point that all the characters share the exact same idle animation. It's incredibly distracting watching them do a synchronized bob back and forth the entire time, as they don't make any attempt to offset the animation. Unfortunately, despite only having one idle animation, it's also quite stiff.
The inclusion of NIS was a pleasant surprise, usually you'd have to use a third party upscaler. I'll always be a bit confused as to why they don't just use higher resolution assets to begin with, downsampling should be much simpler than the reverse, but hey, it's better than nothing.
There's not a lot of typos, but I still did notice a few. There is however quite an egregious one, i.e. Marin's name being replaced with Mashiro the entire game. It does make one wonder if anyone checked over the final release, it's basically impossible to miss.
Despite that all sounding very negative, I'd still give a tentative recommendation. Not at full price though, it's far too short at just 6~ hours. I don't dislike the game, it just left me feeling unsatisfied, which isn't ideal when it costs 15€.
