On release, the game only had four save slots, and didn't have a chapter select. In a game where each chapter has different endings, and evidence and entire character interactions can be missed, that made it very difficult to replay.
About one day after leaving a negative review about that, the developers responded, and an update to include both of those features was announced. At the time of writing, 25 save slots and a chapter select have been implemented. Off of that alone, I feel obligated to give a positive review, though I would've anyway considering the quality of the rest of the game. It's really nice to see that the developers are so committed to improving their game, and it's impressive that they were able to make changes so quickly. They even changed the colour of the bug report button in the menu after I mentioned having trouble finding it at first. I don't know how to express it, but that's such a nice thing to do over a problem that only one person probably had.
Other than that, the game itself is very well done. Though both of the two currently playable chapters funnel you through a series of specific events, the outcomes you can achieve vary based on things that you, as the player, did or didn't do. Something I've had a problem with in other games like this is missing one little thing somewhere, and having to spend half an hour talking to every NPC again and trying to inspect everything I can a couple times over, just to be allowed to progress. Allowing players to solve mysteries or not based on how well they actually did when investigating feels strangely novel for a murder mystery game, but I wish that more of the ones that I've played were like that.
To give a specific example, at the start of the game (in the first half hour or so),
the protagonist stumbles across a murder, and can make the choice to either stay and attempt to explain the situation to the police, or try to make a run for it. Actually escaping is possible, as is getting arrested - from there, it even appears that there are different ways to escape confinement.
The rest of the game features similar branches, including ones that work off of choices you made in a previous chapter. Now, with the chapter select, it's much easier to play through the story in various ways, trying new things.
With such quick responses and fixes to problems and even minor issues that players have, it feels reasonable to already have a lot of faith in these developers. They've put a lot of care into their game, and I firmly believe that they'll do a great job with the rest of it.
