A great game for beginners, not for automation, management and adventure veterans! Normally this kind of game scratches a certain itch i get when i farm, automate and discover new biomes with cool enemies and mechanics. I really really wanted this game to scratch this itch, but it didn't. Maybe i played too many other games in the genre, but this one just seemed a boiled down simplification of all the other games i played in the genre. Don't get me wrong. It provides unique and charming elements, but not nearly enough for my taste. If you're new to games like Forager, Corekeeper (stardew, terraria, factorio) you gotta play this one to ease into the genre.

First 70% of the game - cool, much fun, it's easy, and you can do whatever you want at your own pace, you get unlocks, upgrades, new things to tinker constantly. Last 30% is not fun, you either expected to make a very efficient giga extra factory in all islands or just wait.. I stopped near the end, because the game mostly run in background. I didn't wanted to reconstruct every island to make it more efficient, and I had nothing else to do. My recommendation is if you are into factory management games, this one is quite simple, you don't need excel sheets to play. Buy it on sale, and delete as soon as you feel stuck

It's a little like if Satisfactory and Forager had a baby that took 40 hours of your life away but you loved it for doing so.

It's a good game. It won't knock your socks off, but it's not really made to do that. It's just fun. They didn't set the bar high, and they still cleared it nicely. It's your typical resource production/management style game, but with a cute aesthetic and a soothing soundtrack. One thing that is done quite well on a technical standpoint is the introduction of seemingly minor but actually major technologies that drastically change how your production lines work, giving you very natural points where you want to go back and reconsider how you've been doing things so far to improve efficiency and organization based on the new tech. It keeps the production style gameplay fresh and interesting throughout the run, rather than just adding further and further steps up a linear progression.

Other reviews have described this game as "Forager but better" I am happy to report it is indeed Forager, but better. Notably the systems of automation work a lot better than those in Forager. You have many tools in which to move materials around from island to island. Of special import are the robots that can zip around at lightspeed moving materials to and fro automatically, stocking up forges and fabricators with the materials needed on demand. Once you get everything set up you can simply stand and watch the magic happen as everything makes itself automatically with zero manual intervention needed. Each new island unlocked brings new things to find and new resources to funnel into your well oiled machine. The game is a whole lot of fun for much of the experience. The foundational mechanics and gameplay loop is very well done. I am not happy to report that Nova Lands has the exact same major problem as Forager - the end game is absolutely terrible. Nova Lands has an even worse end game even - an excrutiating grind of chained material recipes that take forever with very little engagement along the way. It feels like the game is unfinished. There are huge gaps in the world map where islands should be but aren't. There's suspiciously missing shops in slots of the mall area. You upgrade lots of facets of your character including their health, armor, and weapon, but after the third boss approximately halfway through the game you don't fight a SINGLE THING for the rest of the game. Why are they still giving you health and weapon upgrades when there's nothing that damages you from then on and nothing to attack? You hit max level WAY before the end of the game, so there's few improvements to look forward to for a lot of your playtime, and constant improvements and upgrades are the reason you're even playing this kind of game. The pacing is completely out of whack, which again, suggests the stench of cut content and an unfinished game. Positive overall but it could have been a LOT better.

I love factory/automation games and this one only proves more. From my perspective its replayable and at some points addicting. I enjoyed many features including the robots and the recipes never being too difficult. On the other hand it can get dull at times when waiting for that one recipe to finish. in total, pretty good

I stumbled upon this game randomly on Steam, and it looked quite similar to Forager, which I played a long time ago. I rarely play automation-style games like this, but this one managed to keep me engaged and entertained. That said, the story elements in the game felt rather dull. Nothing particularly stood out, and honestly, I can’t say I remember much about them — they just didn’t leave an impression.
