I cannot recommend this game right now as it has been awfully laggy and poorly optimized, even a rtx 4080, 4090, 5080 and 5090 cannot run smooth due to poor optimizations causing game to randomly freeze and lag now and then. It froze so bad that i thought game had crashed with an error behind game window but it turned out game did not crash just so bad optimized that it just freezes with a frozen pic and stays like that for like 5-10 mins before it responds again. So once dev fix this issue i might change my review.

For me the biggest problem was the game stuttering, which was an immersion breaker. After the 3.1 update which added DLSS the game runs smoothly on the highest settings at 60 fps on my 3070 Ti card! Good job. I can finally enjoy the game.
Poor optimisation - do not buy
This game despite it's 4-year development hasn't improved performance, not even a little bit, I would even say it's gotten worse. I can not recommend this game right now unless you can accept low frame rates and stuttering. When they added new AI models the performance got even worse. If you're thinking about buying a bus game, consider City Transport Simulator or Fernbus instead.

I have had this game for a really long time an put about 100 hours on it.. my pc isn't the best but its not the worst either.. 24GB ram, rtx2060, i7 9700k and the game still feels very poorly optimized and has a lot of bugs, and it doesn't seem like this game really goes anywhere for now. Just a bit disappointed and wouldn't recommend buying this game for now.

A refreshingly realistic and immersive bus driving simulator that stands out in a genre crowded with arcade-style driving games. From the moment you step behind the wheel, it's clear that this isn't just another transport sim — it's a love letter to public transit and the beautiful city of Berlin. The game’s strongest feature is its attention to detail. The 1:1 scale recreation of Berlin is breathtaking, offering stunningly accurate landmarks, dynamic weather, and a real-time day-night cycle that makes every trip feel different. Whether you're navigating the bustling streets during rush hour or cruising through quiet neighborhoods at night, the environment feels alive and engaging. Driving mechanics are thoughtfully designed, leaning heavily into realism without becoming inaccessible. Bus controls, passenger interactions, and traffic systems are all implemented in a way that rewards precision and patience. The addition of adjustable mirrors, real-time announcements, and fare validation adds a layer of authenticity rarely seen in similar titles. Graphically, The Bus is impressive. Vehicles are intricately detailed, both inside and out, and the lighting engine makes for some gorgeous sunrises and rainy afternoons. Performance has steadily improved with updates, and the developer’s commitment to polishing and expanding the experience is clear. While it’s still evolving in early access, the roadmap promises multiplayer features, new routes, and even different bus models — all exciting prospects that show a long-term vision for the game.

so laggy that i couldn't play o rtx4080 via geforce now. camera too shaky. but i liked the idea, environment and arcade-ish gameplay. the only issue for me was the performance. by now i don't recommend untill it will be fixed and out of early access

I got this back in 2021 and its still one of my regrets for that year ! Still has popping in cars out of no where... can drive how u like no real law to drive like a bus driver. Its like TSW try's to be a sim but falls between arcadeee and a sim . Apart from the scale of 1:1. theirs nothing wow here

This released in 2021. It's now 2025 and it's still early access. It's very un-optimised, there's isn't much content. Not good.
I don't know where to start...
I have had this game for a while, and starting it with hopes of a better experience after not playing for a while are instantly shattered as soon as I start driving.
A few (!!!) of the issues I have with the game in its current state

Awful lighting at night when setting the global illumination "quality" to high or ultra
LAG, STUTTERS, LOW FPS - Poor optimisation!
Physics are horrible, going up a hill doesn't make you slow down, neither does it speed up going downwards.
Driving feels super arcady, overpowered vehicles due to poor gear ratio simulation (if any). Feels like driving a toy car the size of a bus.
Mirrors on the buses have wayyy to high FOV
Engine and gearbox simulation feels like it was made by a person who understands that a bus has gears, but not at all how they work/sound/act.
Unrealistic, reused and weird sounds, such as having the same sounds for two different doors.
Recycled game logic from long distance coach driving sims (Fernbus/Tourist Bus) which does not fit at all for a city bus driving simulator
Unrealistic destination signs cutting off text at times, totally wrong fonts used, unrealistic destination text for a few routes

Partially positive things about this game are:

Good AI cars (still no AI Trams or AI Buses)
Big map and a good amount of lines (quantity before quality)
Better graphics than OMSI 2, still feels very arcady at times
Multiplayer (experiemental). Physics are even worse here due to poor optimisation I would assume
Ticket selling has some variation to it with passengers being able to pay with phone, card or cash
Some modding support (no vehicle modding as of writing, mods are often limited due to the way the game is built and the possibilities of modding)
After playing this game, I'm starting to wonder if the devs themselves even have ridden a bus in Berlin, let alone anywhere in the world. It is still early access, which needs to be acknowledged, but some of the core problems with the game has been kept for years and they don't seem to be disappearing anytime soon. Price is also too high in my opinion, get it on sale, if you want to get it at all. At the same time, it's not good to wait for too long, as they often increase the price when they are advancing in development.

Picked this up recently, having watched some YouTube vids, and I was also keeping an eye on this as regards updates etc . Extremely happy with the sim , recent updates ( judging by the vids ) , have improved performance ie DLSS / DLAA . Runs really well on my system ( 6 year old laptop, RTX 2070 mobile connected to a gaming monitor ) . All settings on high , approx 50 fps and the graphics are stunning ( Berlin looks great 👍) . My Logitech g920 wheel + pedals + shifter hooked up easily and the driving experience in the sim is top notch . ( You can assign keys / commands to your wheel / keyboard , or zoom in using your mouse and click on the various buttons / switches on the bus dashboard, the choice is yours ) . Lots of options in the menu to simplify or make the sim more challenging , also , really enjoy the interactions with the virtual customers ( handling cash / all the various ticket purchasing options etc etc . There is also a slider in the options menu to adjust the frequency of ticket purchasing ..... ) . Highly recommended if you are interested in a solid bus simulation with great future potential. ( P.s if the developers keep updating the sim , as they currently are , and following the development roadmap, this sim will be up there as the best ) .

Well, there are not very many good bus simulators out there right now, this is one of the better ones available, but the problem is that it's still unfinished and it shows very clearly. Right now they are working on a Hamburg DLC rather then adding the things they promised from way back in 2021 like AI Buses and an actual economy system, and the game get's updated at a snail's pace. Maybe i will recommend in the future but in it's current state, i can not recommend it, just Buy ETS2 and wait for the Coach DLC instead.
