🎣 Idle Waters Review 🌊
I play a lot of idle games and absolutely adore them! But what makes Idle Waters stand out for me is that it’s a little different from the usual. Most idle games just run quietly in the background, but this one actually gives you things to do. You’re a red panda on a fishing journey, and there’s plenty waiting for us in the water! What I really love is that the game has quests to help sea creatures, which makes it more interesting to play. It feels like you’re working towards something rather than just leaving the game running and collecting fish. You actually have to put in a bit of effort, upgrade your gear, complete missions, and collect all the adorable fish! There are loads of upgrades like your bag size, auto-fishing speed, fishing rod level, boat level, and auto-selling. All of them are genuinely useful and worth levelling up, which makes saving money in the game feel rewarding. There’s a whole map with different places to visit, from lakes and beautiful caves to maybe even fishing high in the sky! Each location has its own unique fish, treasures, items, and even bottle messages floating around. There’s a total of 100 different fish to catch, including special variants like rare colour, silver, golden, rainbow, and the very pretty cosmic fish. They’re all super cute, and near the end of the game there are four extra-rare fish that might take a bit more time to find. As you play, you level up your rank—SSS is the max—and the more kinds of fish you catch, the higher your rank goes. You can also level up your fishing rod, increase your luck to find new fish, and boost fish quality so they sell for more coins. All of these can be improved by buying upgrades or helping creatures at sea who give bonus perks. One of my favourite things is the Aquariums! You can place fish in them, and they’ll drop items for you. Each fish gives different items, which are super helpful for missions, crafting charms, or earning extra coins. You can have up to 10 aquariums, and as you play, you unlock more fish slots for each one. For earning money later in the game, I recommend filling your aquariums with fish that drop feathers or stardust—they each sell for 900 coins, which really adds up when you’ve got all the aquariums going! That being said, the game is an idle game, and its purpose is to idle. After about 30–50 hours (depending on how quickly you complete quests and other tasks), you’ll find yourself idling more often, especially if you're trying to catch the super-rare fish or, if you're like me, chasing those achievements that require specific fish types and grades. The whole game is just really cute, relaxing, and full of things to do. There’s even a little cat helper, if you give them a fish treat, they’ll bring you random treasures or items! Such a lovely companion to have while you’re out at sea fishing. I really love Idle Waters and would totally recommend it if you’re into idle games but want something a bit more engaging on the side. Enjoy your fishing journey, pandas 🐼
Tip: If you want to find more reviews like this, check out our curator page Moon's Tea House
Very relaxing and chill idle fishing game with a good pace of progression and options to play more actively or passively depending on the charms you equip. Dev is also very responsive and quickly adapts feedback and helps players out if needed.

Good idle game with cute sprites. Developer is very active when responding to community input. I like the unique features like "cat" and "timed-auto-sell" which encourage the player to check and actively play instead of purely idling.

Nice game. Pretty deep for an idle game, and also pretty deep for the cheap price. Seems like a lot of content. There are many locations to travel to. I recommend. Update: This is one of the best idle games I've played. There is a lot of content, it is deep. I'm basically at the end but still have a handful of achievements and collectables left. For the cheap price it's a real steal. I've really enjoyed my time with it. I did not play it in an idle way, I played it very actively. This is probably the most active idle game I've played.

This is a really good idle game... You'll definitely have a good time with this one. I loved that you can customize everything about the HUD, the QoL updates are also fantastic and make things so much easier. It used to be a pain to open the "guide book" every time you wanted to check on a fish or material, so that's a huge improvement. The charms are super helpful too. I can definitely recommend this if you're looking for a good idle game.

A bit like Corner Pond - but better in every regard, and without the tedious clicking/bubble minigame. Instead overall some really nice features, that make this game stand out from other idle games. + Really nice, detailed and cute visuals. Also really cool to be able to re-size the window and switch between full width and just the fishing spot. + Very engaging with the quests and the upgrades, but at the same time not being too demanding + unique additions like the Aquariums to "farm" for items - also making the quests much more fun an intruiging to fulfill. + Nice sounds. DOnt really have the music on, but very nice ambience. Overall, imho probably one of the best idle games of this kind out there, really happy with it!

Honestly a pure joy to play. This feels more fleshed out and engaging than Cornerpond, and the art-style is so cute to look at. I'm still early on in the game but its been very fun and chill to discover new zones, new fish & even treasure ~ Cannot wait for future updates, I highly suggest checking this game out!

Idle Waters was a game I'd been anticipating since I first saw its trailer, immediately adding it to my wishlist. The moment it launched today, I didn't hesitate for a second to buy it, and I'm so glad I did! I honestly can't believe how addictive it is. The core concept is absolutely brilliant, drawing you in with its simple yet engaging mechanics. It's the kind of game that makes minutes melt away into hours without you even realizing it. I completely recommend it, especially with the potential for future updates. If the developers continue to build upon this fantastic foundation, Idle Waters is poised to become an absolute staple for anyone looking for an incredibly engaging and satisfying idle experience.

One of the most chill idle games I have ever tried. The objectives and locations are brilliantly set to not be too soon or too late to let your interest in the game live longer. Also, my 4 year old son loves the cat companion. Great game. 10/10 if you are looking for something to keep your toddlers busy while taking care of them alone.

Um dos estilos de jogo Idle que mais curti! A progressão é bem constante; bem repetitivo para conseguir todas as categorias de peixes, mas valeu a pena a experiência. Recomendo! Principalmente para quem curte o gênero de jogo!

I have never really tried idle games before but.. holy am I glad this was my first one, I adore this game so much and love the customization options to fit it to my liking on my second monitor while I do my usual daily stuff. I can't wait for updates and I dearly hope (unless I'm just not there yet) that there will be more deep sea creatures added *cough* like a goblin shark.. 10/10 I will be addicted for the foreseeable future!

It's a fun idle game. Personally, I'd love some customization on what the creature doing the fishing looks like, but for the price it is very nice.

Awesome idle game to have running while working from home. Especially if you enjoyed Rusty's Retirement you'll like this. Similar concept, just with fishing. The progression and timing works really well. The screen size and positioning is super customizeable too, which I really appreciate. All around great idle game!

A beautiful game to spend some waiting time with. Yet it manages to catch my full attention all the time, so that I suddenly don't want to play the other games I had previously thought of, haha. There's always something new to discover. It's very addicting! Looking forward to 100% this one. :)

I finished the demo and i just had to buy the full game. The games looks amazing and the pacing is better than most games in the genre. However, I'd like to leave a couple of suggestions: - QoL changes for the aquariums, like being able to collect all of the materials with one button. - More aquariums, I'd like to be able to display all of the fish variants, and with the current amount of aquariums that is impossible. To balance it, maybe add some kind of holding tank that doesn't produce materials? - Add an entry for Locations in the Fishing Journal. I'd like to be able to see what I can get in each of them. - Make buying information more rewarding, or let me spend more karma to get more information. From what I've seen, the dev team is very active, so I'm looking forward to future updates!

Nice little game to have on at the bottom of the screen while doing other things on the computer. Has some fun collecting challenges and mechanics, and works well as both an idle game which can be left alone for a while if in the middle of something that requires attention, but also can be played semi actively for when I'm just browsing the internet.

A very adorable idle game, absolutely cute red panda, a lot of fish to catch. I just completed the list of fish, but only feels like I've scratched the surface. Lots of rare alternate colors to catch! But its no problem. You can just have it running idly in the background.

EDIT: Changing review to positive as the developer was quick to respond to my concerns. Will work with them to figure out a solution. Picked up the game yesterday and have been enjoying it all day. There aren't a ton of guides or instructions so it can be a little frustrating at times, but overall I enjoyed it. Now that I've hit about 20 hours idle, the game is unplayable. My mouse suddenly doesn't work on it. I can't press buttons and when I hover over them, they flicker as if it is registering me moving my mouse off/on quickly. If I try to move any items, windows or resize anything, the mouse clicks down but never releases causing em to have to alt f4 out. Also when I click on the UI it randomly clicks elsewhere so I've sold some items that were hard to find which is frustrating. Now i can't even hit save and exit. Restarting didn't help and reinstalling did not help. It went from a cute idle game to completely unplayable.

This Was a Good One... Plenty Things To Do, The Quests And The Fish Aquariums Make This a Really Good Idle Fishing Game... The Last Couple Of Achievements Dragged It Out a Little But I Did Really Enjoy Seeing This One On My Desktop As I Was Working Away On Other Stuff 100% Complete - Sorry To See It Go But Glad I Got To Experience It... On To The Next One

Yes and No. Style is cute, UI is simple and easy to understand. Love the kitty!! But, the progression is a bit annoying and moving around accross the maps and the RNG on item drops is a bit annoying. IF you want a more chilled desktop overlay experience with less mechanics and chores, this isn't for you.

Cute idle games have been popping up more and more lately, but this is genuinely one of the few that has enough unique elements that it's kept me hooked (pun intended) and has me to the point where I've gotten 97 out of 100 achievements, and I'm usually not the achievement hunter type of person. The settings allow for the game to be as present or as invisible as you'd personally like; hiding it in the background to be completely Idle or having it locked in the foreground to allow you to still feed your little pet, actively help reel in fish or click the message bottles that appear (some have lore!). Once you figure out your game style and unlock more areas on the map (there's a surprisingly extensive map!!) it's genuinely a game you're gonna visit every single day to try discover more and unlock achievements as you go. Customisation of the unlock-able aquariums, background layers you can hide or show, absolutely beautiful art and fun RNG collecting for quests; this game is an absolute gem and a solid 10/10, could not recommend it enough.

As someone who enjoys digital fishing and idle games, I really enjoyed this game. The Dev has been very responsive to bugs and suggestions. There are a variety of locations and just enough mechanics to make things interesting without feeling overwhelming. Lots of quality of life features that I wasn't expecting but were much appreciated. Lots of options for re-sizing and graphics display. Graphics are very charming with a lot of character.

Despite what steam says (cuz I don't wanna close the game to refresh hours played) I have 60 hours into this game, and it's a master piece. Especially if you're toting a whole 6 monitors like me, this is NEEDED to have running on at least one of them, or you're NOT truly a Gamer.

This idle game has been so much fun! I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting, outside of a little fisher-panda being on my screen. The areas are beautifully designed, and the quest system is really interesting. Being able to use the NPCs in different areas, as pseudo guideposts for progress, while also catching new fish and making money is really well done. I do wish that the cat had a separate journal that showed like X Fish = Y item, or if it broke down the % chances of things randomly being found. I also really like the idea of different fish not showing up, until certain conditions are met. So far the game has done a fantastic job at being the perfect idle fishing game. And I'm not just saying that because I reached [REDACTED] after feeding the [REDACTED].

It's very cute and successfully walks the idle game line of giving you reasons to keep an eye on the game and interact with it without becoming a stressful chore requiring vigilant supervision. The graphics are very satisfying and adorable, and I enjoy decorating the aquariums and exploring new areas. Very good vibes.

I'm a big fan of idle games that give you a good reason to check in on them. This one is a great balance between being able to leave it to do its thing, while also giving you multiple reasons to come and check back in. The automation takes time to buy up, but the possibility of it is quickly available to you. There's a lot of areas to unlock and collecting quests to complete in order to get new places and added extras. Pros: - lots of areas to unlock - two big collections to fill out - three different ways to gain required items, giving you options to do the one you prefer - lovely artwork - puzzles to work out in order to get access to some areas - excellent sizing options for the fishing area and the aquarium areas you can keep your fish, so you can place each part in the section of your screen that makes the most sense to you - automation quickly available from the start, and although slow at first will allow you to leave it to play itself until you want to look at it again - Dev is very responsive on Discord Cons: - Checking your fish log to see what's been caught or what fish produces certain items can be a bit difficult, but the Dev is already working on improving this due to recent feedback. It's a very minor complaint already. One of the best idlers I've played so far for people who want a little more depth than just leaving it alone and buying up a single stat upgrade chain.
