Now that it has been more properly explained, no, there is no spyware in borderlands. Increasing the price of the most recent game in a franchise sucks, but it's understandable as the economy shifts. However, installing root-level anti-cheat software in a game that is only played between friends, is unwarranted. Then new EULA is deplorable. And the CEO's attitude of "suxx for you, LOL!" is even worse. Poor reviews for the franchise till these garbage policies are reversed.

If a developer changes the EULA AFTER I have purchased the product, I should either be able to continue playing without agreeing to the EULA (with no updates to the game) or offered a full refund. When purchasing I agreed the the EULA at time of purchase, not the one forced on me later. Forced arbitration should be illegal, not sure how it isn't.

I've bought all the borderlands games with all the DLC's I'm now blocked from playing all of these games because I won't agree to their terms. Atrocious spyware, like all of the other Borderlands games. Gearbox updated their terms of service for all of their games since 2009, and basically made them all products that actively collect your data. The game is awesome but I'm freaked out by the new terms of service and privacy policy of Take2. Why do they need my phone number, IP address, postal code, email address, credit card info, shipping address, device ID, gender, age, browser history (related to their games.. but that means they check it all to find what I search about their games). This should be against the law.

Love this game, it's my personal favorite out of the entire series, and I've been playing it ever since it first came out on the 360; but my god, imagine needing to surrender your phone number, IP Address, Operating System, Browser History, etc. to play a 16 YEAR OLD GAME. I mostly play offline but like to hop on online co-op to play with friends occasionally, especially for Borderlands 2, Pre-Sequel, and 3, but now I don't think I'll be playing at all. 2K has basically become Hyperion, and went from parodying corporate greed and corruption, to embodying it. Not buying or pre-ordering Borderlands 4. Let's vote with our wallets.

I've played hundreds of hours of Borderlands across the various games and platforms. The original is a great game, albeit dated, but due to the recent changes to the EULA (for games a decade or more old! That's completely unnecessary), I can't recommend this or any other game anymore. Do better.

Still a good game even if you've never been interested in the series, definitely worth a try despite everyone review bombing the game. Regardless of if this game is good or bad, the new terms of service basically allow this program to act as a virus on your computer. I will be immediately uninstalling all borderlands games on my PC and they will stay off until they change them back. Do not download this game if you care about your privacy even a little.
