One of the best stories I've ever seen in a video game. Genuinely made me emotional, felt immersed, loved the writing and general plot, going back into memories, the atmosphere, etc. This feels like a Tim Burton movie if it were a video game.

I went into this game with high expectations after hearing all the glaze, especially from Beambuddy. But honestly it just didn’t land for me. I’m usually pretty emotionally responsive to story driven games, but this one just felt like a slog. Maybe it's just not my style, but it didn’t hit the way I hoped it would

Probably the most profound, touching, heartwarming story ive ever experienced in a video game. an epic journey that will pull at your heartstrings, keep you so intrigued and invested in the characters who grow into titans whilst being human. it is CRIMINAL that this game only costs so little. an absolute bargain and a steal. when it gets done, you will look around the world and wonder how nobody else understands what youve just experienced and felt. a masterpiece. 10/10. please take yourself on a journey to the moon <3

This game will forever and always be a must-play. I feel sad that River didn't manage to make John remember their real "first meeting" till her end but I guess it counts that John still remembered to regroup to the moon whenever they felt lost. I wish there would be a timeline where the client would be River instead of John in that game.

I never leave reviews on games but this game is a beautiful, rich, with a warm story with depth that makes you *feel*, *reflect* and *think* - It also got some cheesy but loveable humor here and there It's more a visual novel than an actual puzzle game, and the puzzles are rather light and easy to solve to keep the story flowing seamlessly Get cozy with this game and grab some tissues - Definitely worth getting, it's one of a kind story and game! A beautiful gem!

"To the Moon" isn't about complex mechanics or flashy gameplay, and that's perfectly fine. What it offers instead is a masterfully crafted story that will stay with you long after the credits roll. The narrative is incredibly touching, filled with heartfelt moments, humour and genuine poignancy. The pixel art style and beautiful soundtrack perfectly complement the storytelling, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience. This game is a must play if you are looking for narrative depth and emotional impact over action. It's truly a special game that reminds us of the power of storytelling in the medium.

It is a short and simple game. But god, it is a wholesome and touching one. The story itself is so well written and the main idea for the plot is pretty unique. The dialogues between main characters are pretty funny too, using that simple and silly humor which I love. Overall this game is worth checking out if you are looking for a good story :D

What a nice little game! It was fun and interesting to play. Might not be a game for everyone, but I really enjoyed it and I like the story. The pixel art style could be more polished, but considering the price it's ok. I can recommend to give this game a try. :)

Despite the fact that the plot is strong and deep (the game is worth playing), but the thoughts it leaves behind I don't like. The story is presented as a love story, but in fact it's just sheer widespread selfishness. PURE EGOISM. Johnny, who absolutely didn't give a damn about his wife's inner world, and River, who lowkey ruined Johnny's life with her obsession with the lighthouse (Autism is not an excuse in this case, imho). On the other hand, Johnny followed her and her desires all his life, but rather... i'd say mindlessly. A strange story and strange conclusions people draw from it. Nevertheless, the game deserved the hype that was around it a long time ago.
''To the Moon'' scratched my brain well. It tests your life values.
What in an incredible story that is brilliantly executed with a time-travelling mechanic done right. To top it off with an awesome duo to run it through. The ending was so heart touching...

The story was cute and the length of the game was perfect. But something felt off for me. Maybe the pixel style isn't really my thing or maybe it felt a bit dragged here and there. Would still give it a 8/10 for the story and music tho.

"Playing this game", or better, reading this story, is an experience that must be had once in a lifetime. Saying anything would spoil it, I will just say that, as for any good story, there are many layers of meanings. Also, a practical suggestion: it's a happy story, and filled with humor, but prepare some napkins: you will need them.

The fact that this hasn't been adapted in to a movie is a crime against humanity. The game play is underwhelming and plays more like a visual novel, but the story is absolutely incredible and now I'm going after the sequels. Play it and love it for the story, not the game play.

Beautiful and emotional story. I got spoiled the entire story before playing, but it's so beautiful that I just had to play it once myself. Totally worth it. I'm also a huge fan of using objects to represent/symbolise things in stories, and this game did an amazing job at that.

As a game in itself its bad. The gameplay mechanics work randomly at some areas, the puzzles in between are a waste of time with no function. A lot of times you also need to hover above a specific part of an item to be able to click it and thus very missable if youre not paying attention, walking is a bit clunky aswell. Also dont like it, that one of the screenshots shows you a turn base encounter when its the only one in the game. Personally i dislike this kind of art style, but after some time i didnt mind it. Soundtrack is really good and recommend to check it out no matter if youre going to play the game or not. Its a melancholic story and it does it amazingly to convey that feeling. But i really dislike the overabundance of comedy, it shifts from being a serious athmosphere to a scene from the newer Marvel films. That ovevruse of comedy kinda works in the character arc that Kan Gao wrote here in the end. But first few acts seem out of place when experiencing it for the first time. Personally i would recommend watching a playthrough because the story is great and its really worth hearing it. And then if you enjoyed it, to buy the game and this way supporting the writer and devs. Because I dont think the game medium enhances our connection to the characters in any kind of way. Thus this wouldve worked as a book or a show better than as the game it got made in the end. But even after all of this i cannot not recommend it, because the story will leave its mark on you and change your way of thinking.

To The Moon isn't just a game—it's an emotional experience that sticks with you long after the credits roll. It’s a beautifully crafted journey of love, loss, and memory, wrapped in an old-school RPG aesthetic that feels nostalgic yet fresh. The story is the heart of this game, and trust me, it will hit you right in the feels. The music? Absolutely stunning. Kan Gao’s soundtrack elevates every moment, making the emotional beats land with devastating precision. Gameplay-wise, it’s minimal—no combat, no puzzles, just pure narrative—but that’s the point. This isn’t about mechanics; it’s about telling a story that matters. If you’re looking for an unforgettable, soul-stirring experience, To The Moon delivers. Just make sure to bring tissues. Highly recommended!

Had a really nice thrusday evening playing this game. Took only 4h to complete but I felt like it was the perfect lenght for this story. This was a story that captures you, you don't even notice how time is running. Lots of laughs, some tears too. Many moments where you stop to think deeper. Would recommend 100%, would replay too.

The concept is nice, but the gameplay is very clunky. I think this would have worked way better as an animated series or a novel, but as a game... it lacked. The tone of the story should be delicate and caring with a topic like this, but you have one of the protagonists making hadoken and kamehameha jokes for no reason. I understand that maybe the producers of this game were uncomfortable with the topic, but to make death lighter, you don't add dumb jokes, you make it more tender in its heavy moments. Also, the protagonists, the scientists, are incredibly immature and mean spirited, which ruins any immersion you may have, and I couldn't buy at all the love story between John and River because, honestly, they're terrible for each other. John didn't care about her autism diagnosis, refused to learn about it, and then complained that she was too different, even though that was something that attracted him at first. In the end, a miss. I do not recommend it, go play Spiritfarer.

I bought this game because it was recommended by others for the narrative, but I was just not a big fan. It is meant to be emotional, but for me it just didn't hit. I finished the game hoping that eventually the tables would turn, but they did not. I did like a few things: 1. River's representation as a neurodivergent person--I found her relatable 2. Dr. Watts is freaking hilarious, he would be a blast to hang out with in real life

The gameplay made it impossible for me to enjoy this game. One hour in, I couldn’t force myself to keep going, so I read the rest of the story online. And it turns out I wasn’t invested at all. If you're considering this because you want to play a narrative-driven game and you haven’t played What Remains of Edith Finch, well, you're in luck. Skip this one and play that instead.

After playing this game, I’ve been thinking… One day, I’ll grow old and dying in bed. One day, either my wife or I will pass away first. When that happens, I’ll make sure we both fulfil the promises we made to each other. But if we don’t… I hope there’s an afterlife—so we can cry together, or just stargaze, or maybe joke about our past. Or maybe… just say sorry.

The writing is good, the author is especially talented and creative in sentimental writing. However, I can't help but notice the main focus of the story is to make the player feel torn by ambivalence. I felt quite emotional, but not following the crescendo and climax like most others did. I couldn't ignore the many story conflicts. These conflicts felt unsubstantial. I guess I'm only pointing this out because I didn't agree or like where the story was heading, I didn't like the result of the story. I felt angry. I wasn't sure if the story had any lesson or meaning, if it did, what did it tell you? [SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED] (Stuff about the ending)
The core of the story was the beautiful memories he shared with River, it can be argued that memories are what makes an identity. Johnny loved River, not just because it's River, but because of the experiences they shared together. It's just a bad idea to delete these memories, I would argue it's a fickle way to make the player feel emotional. The author didn't know it, but the solution and better conclusion to the story was right under his nose. Johnny's memory was hidden in his sub-concious, it was blocked by the beta-blockers after the tragedy of his brother Joey. The scientists were able to unlock these memories via smell. If the scientists gained access to his earliest memories, then that would mean Johnny would have access now too. All of the trouble and conflicts that Johnny would face with River, especially the moments when River would ask Johnny about the origami rabbits, asking him to describe it and tell her what he sees, instead of not remembering their special conversation years ago, he will now remember and feel happy that he can finally make the connection. He may feel saddened that he wasn't able to remember and make the connection before River died, but he'd at least find some solace in a very confusing and distressing existence. I feel the whole plot towards NASA and becoming an astronaut was a short sighted and possibly rushed conclusion. It should have concluded with the scientists creating a simulation of River from all of his memories to finally consul and soothe Johnny in Johnny's conscious before his death. Perhaps in Johnny's dreams they could finally reach the Moon together.
I had to stop the game to write this because the whole David's morph thing bugged me because none of his morphs worked as an answer and I had to look up the working answer and turned out y'all had the completely wrong answer as the "right" one. David's main morph was a lion, not a cobra. It was Marco who acquired Spawn. David couldn't have acquired a cobra as his morph because he didn't have the morphing powers at the time, and Visser Three took Spawn as a suspect Andalite. David was given powers later, and his first morph was the golden eagle (which he later used to kill a red tailed hawk he and the others thought was Tobias.) The lion was David's chosen morph because he believed it was a leader's morph and he sought to replace Jake (who had the tiger.) The lion being his defining morph was further cemented later when they were forming the Auxiliary Animorphs - James chose the lion as his morph, and everyone tensed up because it was like "oh no history repeating itself" but Jake was all cool with it.
