Fantastic! Is it a sci-fi? A murder mystery? A tale about love, life and heartbreak? You'll just have to find out for yourself. Highly recommended. Can be played as a standalone game but playing previous games in series provides some context to part of the later story.

I've been something of a completionist with To the Moon, playing all the little spin-offs and even reading the comics and playing the card game. Out of everything, Impostor Factory is the best follow-up to the original game. Like To the Moon, it tells a personal story about characters you didn't know before, without getting too bogged down in the sci-fi story that runs across the whole series. It came as a surprise when the game opened without the previous protagonists anywhere to be seen, but it's all the better for it. Only Impostor Factory and To the Moon made me cry, and it's because of the stories they tell about deeply realised characters and universal struggles, supported by another exceptional soundtrack. It was a bold move to distance this game from the much-loved cast of the other games, but it really pays off here. Quincy and Lynrie's story is one that's just as compelling as Johnny and River's.

I loved the first two games in the trilogy but this was a bit bore to play through, especially Act 2. On its own an interactive film doesn’t sound bad but 1, I didn’t expect this compared to the previous games 2, I’ve felt that sometimes even the game didn’t understand itself (why add a mechanic for running when there is no point of running and 95% of the time you just watch?) The story is okay-ish if you are familiar with the franchise and the characters but the delivery also left some to be desired. Mainly it was just a huge lore dump and an incredible amount of exposition, so it was very subpar too from just a pure writing POV. I’ll give a thumbs up but honestly this more like a 5/10 game. Good if you want some more Freebird Games and you enjoy the universe but very forgettable on its own. Feels like a point where a franchise becomes “tired” so I actually hope this was the last game in the story and we could move onto a new, totally unrelated adventure.

The series never disappoints me, but I think this is the best chapter I've played yet. Definite recommend for fans of the original series, and I hope if you're a passerby with no clue about the To The Moon series, if you like novel-type games, please do give this a try! All sorts of warm, funny, mysterious, and touching little tales await!

Truly, the perfect culmination of Freebird Games' work. Following To The Moon and Finding Paradise, this game manages to feels even more polished and carefully crafted. Bravo.

Another very nice story from the Kao. It is highly recommended to play one of the previous two games before playing this. It provides some meanings to the story being told here. Otherwise, it may seems a bit confusing. If you like the first two, then you will enjoy this one also.
TLDR: 8/10 I Feel Awkward Calling This the “Weakest” Story in the Series Because It’s Still Super Good, Just Majorly Confusing and Personally Not As Moving

Actual Review (No Spoilers)
Like A Bird Story, Impostor Factory is retroactively made better as the series continues. However, it doesn't fully get explained, and I don't think it ever will be. I get the feeling that Freebird's writing style intentionally leaves various details up to interpretation. I guess it works for the most part, but just like To The Moon, there's multiple "why tho" story beats that you kinda just have to accept and move on. Very good story overall, but didn't relate to it very much, despite my eventual tears. 8/10
